1621  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone Loan using My Account on: July 10, 2023, 01:01:49 PM
If there was a universal option for everyone to declare that they never take any loans it'd be even better. But making a separate topic for that would be too complicated and I don't see any easy way for that.
I can give you neutral feedback if you want, with a link to your post. Something like:
"This user confirmed he never wants to take a loan. If his account asks for it, it's not him."
If anyone else wants such feedback: post your confirmation here and I'll add it once I see it. I assume my account will be on DT for many years to come Smiley
I confirm that I do not need credits on this forum. LoyceV, please put a neutral tag on my profile.
1622  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Belarus wants to ban bitcoin P2P transactions on: July 09, 2023, 06:11:57 PM
Well they have their reason and it's due to High Crypto Crime Rate Linked To P2P Transactions. This is an issue which can be counter by imposing new regulations on the trade , however this should reduce p2p crime in my view
Are you sure about that? In Belarus, giving your bank card to other people is prohibited. If you receive a transfer in Belarusian rubles to a card, then it is not taxed and there are practically no drop cards. It is in Russia and Ukraine that the business of cashing money from bank cards is very developed. In Europe, it is difficult to get a bank card, but in Russia, banks will send you a card by mail, courier or issue it in the office in 1 hour.
1623  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC vs Binance on: July 09, 2023, 06:03:02 PM
So things are really looking worse and worse everyday for Binance, they keep getting bashed from every side. We have reports of massive net outflows of customers' funds (which is understandable), but what puzzles me is how come Binance's proof of funds does not seem to reflect the situation at all:
https://www.binance.com/en/proof-of-reserves
It's showing snapshots of customers'/exchange's balances at the 1st of each month, and comparing BTC and USDT balances at 1 July with balances at 1 Feb (before all the drama started), the customers' funds actually went up. ETH balances went down compared to Feb, but are still higher than at 1 April. This doesn't make much sense to me, or maybe I'm just missing something here.
Binance continues to be one of the major exchanges and there is no replacement yet. This exchange has a lot of problems, but the exchange has a lot of liquidity in many cryptocurrencies, so it is preferred by large traders. This exchange will not leave the crypto market, and the problems will end. Binance has a good market share in countries other than the US and Europe.
1624  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UK Crypto, Stablecoin Rules Receive Royal Assent, Passing Into Law on: July 08, 2023, 05:05:09 PM
This is old news, but after the adoption of the law, you will need to declare your cryptocurrency.
And those citizens who do not fill out declarations after that will be considered criminals and their cryptocurrencies can be seized by court order. Most crypto enthusiasts will not be happy with such legal regulations.
This doesn't sound nice at all. This is an absolute invasion of privacy. Criminalizing nondisclosure of crypto assets is draconian. Only politicians are required to declare their financial standings in my country. But it will be difficult to enforce this law because it will be difficult to track crypto users that use decentralized platforms.
Decentralized platforms have disadvantages and not all traders are suitable for these services. There will also be regulation of decentralized services, don't worry.
There will be white lists with addresses that have passed the KYC procedure. Uniswap, 1 inch and other large services will submit to regulators, and services without KYC with weak liquidity will remain on the market
1625  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Web3 firms are spending up to $25M on HK crypto licenses on: July 08, 2023, 04:56:09 PM
According to a June 27 report by local news outlet Foresight News, Web3 firms in Hong Kong are spending anywhere between 20 million and 200 million Hong Kong dollars ($2.55 million and $25.5 million) for the acquisition of a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) licenses. Sources explained:

“Since traditional financial institutions have no relevant prior infrastructure, and have gone from zero to one in various aspects such as products and teams, the cost [associated with VASPs] has been very high. However, even for an experienced cryptocurrency institution, the cost of obtaining a license is not cheap.”

https://cointelegraph.com/news/web3-firms-are-spending-up-to-25m-on-hk-crypto-licenses

Web3 is a failed experiment. So I am not getting the point of spending so much money just for license. But I am sure the companies will have their own reasons to spend that much money.

One best part of doing business in countries like HK or SG, is their infrastructure and less regulatory burden. Also web3 has all potential to become another money laundering playground just like the NFT. So probably these companies are smelling opportunities there.
Web3 technology in cryptocurrency is still in development. The technology for investors can and will be interesting, because the investor has the tokens on his wallet, and he can connect to various projects and it is enough to pass verification once with one of the licensed partners. But in such a situation, the trend is more important than the result Smiley
1626  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tornado cash and others mixers on: July 08, 2023, 04:50:55 PM
It is high time mixers begin to consider economic friendliness before starting operation in a particular zone.
What kind of friendliness are you talking about? A business that focuses on privacy is not going to be popular if they explicitly share data with the government. Maybe they'll do it behind the scene, though I've yet to see one that is safe from a government investigation. Another option is probably explicitly banning money laundering activities on their ToS. Not sure how effective that will be since it doesn't guarantee any immunity, not to mention their potential customer might not use them because of that too.
It seems you misunderstood me or I didn't express myself so well. The friendliness used in this context doesn't mean the mixers being wiling to share all the private data in their custody to the government. It rather means an environment where the government is less concerned on what happens in the mixers.

Going by your suggestion that the mixers should ban money laundering activities in their ToS. Even if they do, it cannot be monitored. I also feel that the mixers are not involved in some of the laundering that happens.

Look at the answer to question 4 for different mixers. I've seen mixers on this forum that have been shut down by the secret services and it doesn't look like a collaboration. But I have not seen any evidence of cooperation between the misers that we have in this forum with governments.
1627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BRC-69 tokens, a new standard in Bitcoin on: July 07, 2023, 12:16:46 PM
In an increasingly digital world, Bitcoin continues to be a key reference in the field of cryptocurrencies. Against this backdrop, Luminex , a launch pad for Bitcoin Ordinals , has recently introduced a modified version of the BRC-20 token standard , known as BRC-69. This new implementation promises a significant reduction in minting costs and has aroused great interest in the crypto community.

1628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TrueUSD (TUSD) Next stablecoin to depeg? on: July 07, 2023, 12:13:00 PM
Be careful with USDC, it was not long ago that stable coin also present problems and some people had to accept some losses when they had to sell their USDC below the dollar parity, now this may bring the question about which stable coin is safe at all right now to hold?
For me, USDC and its centralized model, which is DAI, is much better than USDT, but due to the high liquidity that USDT enjoys, its use in platforms is much higher. Therefore, it is better to withdraw all your investments in stablecoins into cash and leave a very small percentage in investments such as USDT by 40%, USDC by 30%, and DAI by 30%, and the higher the percentage of DAI, the better.

Investing in other stablecoins pairs is dangerous and I do not recommend it at all.

I store chtablecoins only in DAI, they have the most honest statistics, but the price of DAI is pegged to the price

Every law created is giving more power to our owners to control us and what we do.
It is not in all countries. Recently a crypto user from Lithuania told me that he was paying cryptocurrency tax as income tax. He was recommended to do so by the tax inspector after exchanging for fiat. He printed out the transaction history from the crypto exchange.

A lot of people don't understand why Europe and the UK have adopted these laws.
The MICA law regulates only stablecoins and utility tokens, as well as the activities of exchanges and exchange services.
DEXes, NFTs, Security tokens are not regulated by this law,
but MICA says a lot about stablecoins and restrictions, because governments are afraid of their impact on their economy. I haven't studied UK law, but I'm sure it's the same there.

UK Lords Pass Bill to Help Seize and Freeze Crypto Used for Crime

The new law will allow to arrest and freeze the cryptocurrency, which will be used in crimes. Economic crimes and tax evasion are also included.
Cool and better than hunting the whole platform down. If the crypto used for crime is found in an exchange, it should be freezed and not the exchange.
If found in a mixer, it should be freezed and not the mixer. Although it will be difficult to track the particular coin when it has mixed with the pool of other coins. As time passes, government will have a better way to regulating cryptocurrency and get ride of crime in the system.

Fraudsters and criminals are also not stupid people and they will use mixers and mix transactions. In the darknet, services charge 5-6% of the amount for such a service. Honest users who buy cryptocurrency on exchangers usually suffer from blocking. Exchanges don't write their policies. If your payment contains 2% "dirty" bitcoins or your payment contains 20% "dirty" bitcoins, then 2 payments can be blocked.

Ethereum Developers Propose ‘Circuit Breaker’ To Deter Hackers
Samuel Haig(С)

"Ethereum developers have proposed a circuit breaker mechanism that would halt token outflows exceeding a predetermined limit as a security measure.

EIP-7265 would allow developers to specify the value of withdrawals that triggers the circuit breaker, and whether that takes the form of delayed settlement after a cooldown or completely revert attempted outflows. The feature could prevent hackers from immediately draining the assets of exploited DeFi protocols and protect users against losses."

https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/pull/7265

"This standard outlines a smart contract interface for a Circuit Breaker that triggers a temporary halt on protocol-wide token outflows when a threshold is exceeded for a predefined metric. This circuit breaker does not assume the structure of the underlying protocol, and mainly serves as a pass-through vehicle for token outflows. In order to maintain correct internal accounting for integrated protocols, and to provide maximum flexibility for developers, developers can specify if the circuit breaker contract should delay settlement and temporarily custody outflows during the cooldown period, or revert on attempted outflows.

According to the announcement made by Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt in the annual budget, U.K. taxpayers will be required to separately report their crypto assets on their tax forms. This new requirement is expected to generate an additional 10 million British pounds (US$12 million) per year in tax revenue.

The U.K. Treasury stated in a document published on Wednesday that changes will be made to the Self Assessment tax return forms, specifically requiring taxpayers to identify and report amounts related to cryptoassets separately. These changes will come into effect in the tax year that ends in April 2025.

The introduction of this new reporting requirement indicates the government's intention to ensure proper taxation of crypto assets and increase transparency in this growing sector. By separately identifying cryptoassets on tax forms, the U.K. government aims to ensure that individuals accurately report their crypto holdings and income for tax purposes.

It is important for U.K. taxpayers who hold cryptoassets to familiarize themselves with these upcoming changes and ensure compliance with the new reporting requirements when they come into effect.

there is actually bunch of case similiar to tornado cash us government keep banning the mixer since they argue that mixer used for criminal to launder the money.

and tornado cash actually big since it happen on ethereum and the majority of hacker laundry their money to tornado cash and the app accept not just eth but also stablecoin bnb and other this might be the advantage of tornado cash
The US government has also accused many crypto exchanges of this crime. Any crime in the blockchain leaves its traces forever, and therefore the blockchain will work against criminals in time, when experts see all the transactions of criminals.
But the trial has only just begun, let's wish Alexei Pertsev patience.
