Warren Buffett manages a lot of money, so he knows what he's doing. Other funds are also diversifying their risks, and companies that issue stablecoins that are pegged to the US dollar have come to believe in the safety of US Treasury bonds. hehe. These companies have no real capital.
1262  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Prosecution to use Caroline Ellison notes as evidence against SBF on: August 18, 2023, 04:12:40 PM
I would wait for information about which prison the SBF will be in. If he stays in a federal facility in Brooklyn, it will be bad for him. If he was transferred to another, more comfortable prison with Internet in Putnam County, it would be a completely different matter. But the most interesting thing is that Caroline Ellison, Gary Wang (FTX co-founder) and Nishada Singha (FTX chief engineer) have already pleaded guilty and are cooperating with the government.

It is the safest thinking for everyone who is still in their thirties or forties, ~10-20 years is not a lot, and the person may return to life again and try to say that he is a victim of a conspiracy, and this is what I think will happen. My only regret is for the victims' money, which they may recover after several years, and they may not be able to.

Do you get internet in that prison? This is a low-cost vacation, not a prison.
I think that the American and Russian turbans are very different. In America, a prison is also a business and there are many private prisons for people who have committed minor crimes. Some private prisons do not even have a fence, and prisoners can work, but they are forbidden to leave a certain area. Therefore, the SBF has a chance to get into one of these prisons.

0xdEAD000000000000000042069420694206942069 is the burning address, coins cannot be returned from it. There are still various tokens on the balance of this wallet, but I am not familiar with the reasons for these transactions. It could also be a concerted token burn.

If ...

And only if it was someone like Me, then they wouldn't look at it as 4,500,000USD - they would see them as tokens ONLY. Which is the whole point of the imitation and design of Crypto in the first place. The owners of this World have made Crypto as an 'Asset' to the FIAT System - and EVEYONE has followed.

So Tokens they are and they have been burned - no matter what the 'Price' of them is, and that is that.

The millionaire continues to burn his assets after he burned 2500 ethereum and expensive NFTs.
I can understand the NFT burning because it's a possible scam, but I have questions about the rest.

"The guy who burned 2,500 $ETH($4.58M) transferred 36,188 $GMX($1.78M) and 311,003 $GNX($1.52M) to a dead address again an hour ago."

Wink ...

Exactly My Point!

Tokens and Coins only - Not 'Money' per se ... That is all they are!

The beauty of these things are such that ALL of these Tokens and Coins are HIS/HERS to do what they want with. Not like FIAT that actually only belongs to the Creators of it - the Banking System.

There will be Much More coming!

#crysx #cwi

Fiat also burns well, although such a procedure is a gift for the Fed.

For the second time, Europe overtakes the USA. First the MICA law and then the first exchange-traded fund (ETF).

https://decrypt.co/148433/jacob-asset-management-launch-europe-first-bitcoin-etf
"Europe has beaten the U.S. with the roll-out of the first Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) as London-based Jacobi Asset Management today announced the product's listing on Euronext Amsterdam.

After receiving approval from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) in October 2021, the firm initially planned to launch its Bitcoin ETF product last year.

It, however, decided to postpone the launch, deeming it an inopportune time due to the collapse of the Terra ecosystem and the bankruptcy of the FTX crypto exchange.

Today, the Jacobi FT Wilshire Bitcoin ETF is finally live, trading under the ticker BCOIN. It charges investors a 1.5% annual management fee."

@zasad@. I am not quite certain why hehehe. I also do not know what would be the best financial decision to manage $72 billion. However, if Tether and Paypal have trust the in American government and also have trust in their ability to once again get out of another economic crisis then for them it would be a good financial decision because they earn yield.

It is very much similar to us DeFi enjoyers who farm our stablecoins for yield but also taking the risk that the platform might be hacked or might be a rugpull hehehehe.
Do you like Warren Buffett?
I do not agree with all of his statements, although I begin to understand his phrase that "Bitcoin will cost 0 dollars."
It will happen, but maybe not soon.
I like his portfolio and investor approach

"Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway holds $127 billion in cash and cash equivalents (as investments in very short-term bonds are called)"
This is risk diversification. Why doesn't he invest in US Treasuries all in?
1268  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Control of wallets with a balance of $10,000 or more in the USA when buying good on: August 17, 2023, 02:04:36 PM
https://www.dlnews.com/articles/regulation/crypto-privacy-battle-started-by-words-inserted-in-2021-law/
In 2024, US businesses will have to collect the name, address, and government ID of anyone who uses more than $10,000 crypto to buy stuff.
Crypto think-tank Coin Center sued the government, arguing the rules equate to illegal financial surveillance.
A judge recently tossed the lawsuit, saying it wasn’t ripe. Coin Center has appealed the decision.
Time is running out for the crypto industry to fight a new law that will force US businesses to collect personal information on people who use digital assets worth more than $10,000 to buy stuff.

The new rules will snap into action on January 1, 2024.
How is the government going to achieve this? It is achievable if everyone uses an exchange and complete KYC. What happens if I buy anonymously, how will the government trace it to me?
The question of NotATether comes in, if this will be applicable to highly centralized crypto or bitcoin inclusive.

I do not also find this a problem for an ordinary and honest user of bitcoin. Anyone can decided to send the transaction twice in order not to exceed the limit or didn't I understand the OP well?
All business questions, such as what will happen if you pay not $ 10,500, but 3 times $ 3,500 and how the government will deal with this, you need to learn from the tax or legal practice in your state. I write about the trends that now all purchases for cryptocurrencies, and then transfers, will be controlled. If this is illegal, then the user of cryptocurrencies may be caught by the police later.

Согласен.

Немного чужих мыслей:
Quote

@zasad@. It appears that you were correct. However, I do not think that this is a condition imposed by the American government. Paypal might be following the business model of Tether. On July 31, Tether has reported that they have $72 billion in treasuries all earning yield.

PayPal USD is “100% backed by U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries and similar cash equivalents,” according to a Monday press release. Additionally, PayPal’s stablecoin is redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars, which means one PayPal USD can be redeemed for one U.S. dollar and vice versa.

US Treasuries yield
https://www.bloomberg.com/markets/rates-bonds/government-bonds/us
Do you agree that the best way to protect investments is to diversify the company's funds?
If you agree with me, then you must agree that such companies should not buy US Treasuries for a large share of their assets.
I am not opposed to US Treasuries, but why buy these assets with most of the reserves?
1273  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Prosecution to use Caroline Ellison notes as evidence against SBF on: August 16, 2023, 04:32:10 PM

Suddenly this story changed a lot and it seem like Caroline is throwing SBF under the bus. Plea bargain for Sweet Caroline while SBF takes the fall after all the people will still be blaming him for what happened to the funds under his watch.

You are right. But considering she'd be testifying, that can count as something. Granted, he can deny these sayings as just mere sayings on her part, but a personal diary can contain relevant evidence which can be discoverable. Her notes seem to detail meetings with herself and SBF where he disclosed some issues about the company to her and this can serve as evidence, right? Well I'm not an expert. I guess we'd find how it all went down

This is another news story. In the US, there are 2 types of lawsuit. In the first version, Sam Bankman-Freed agrees with all the charges, cooperates with the authorities, and the trial takes place in a fast procedure with a minimum sentence. If Sam Bankman-Freed refuses, and agrees to a jury trial, then if found guilty, he may receive a long prison sentence or be acquitted. The jury will decide whose testimony is more honest.

Too bad for the kid to have mixed himself with the worse crime organization. Somebody has to fall anyway and it wouldn't be Carol nor Gensler or anyone else from the ones SBF had bribed. SBF used to have access to media where he can be interviewed and even attend conferences, it is different this time.

Do you think that this guy did not understand that he was engaged in criminal activities, as a result of which many people and commercial organizations lost their money?
But to be honest, he still has a chance to get a small prison term.
I think that he is still needed for high-profile revelations before the US elections, so his criminal case is in progress.

I agree.
There are many questions about the credibility of the conclusions of companies that are engaged in analytics of transactions in the blockchain.

1277  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC signals appeal to XRP ruling on: August 16, 2023, 03:09:49 PM
@zasad@. If the SEC offers a settlement to avoid a trial by jury then this should be very bullish not only for Ripple because it will imply that Gary Gensler is not willing to fight a battle that they can lose. Ripple's lawyers are ready for all of the SEC's legal maneuverings, I reckon. CZ, other exchange CEOs and DeFi projects' teams should learn from this.
I think you will agree that it is difficult for a project to develop if it has unclosed legal problems with the SEC.
Therefore, it is not always profitable to litigate for a long time.
Legislation will appear, it will either be case law, which legislators will be required to take into account, or new laws will come out earlier that will put an end to this very long court case.
1278  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: P2P Scams : Where does the government stand on: August 16, 2023, 03:03:12 PM

I think that is a double-edged sword depending on the person they run into.

The difficult thing with cryptocurrencies is knowing which area has jurisdiction over the case in the event of a scam. If you deal with someone via p2p and they have scammed you, depending on where you are staying, then such is enforceable against them. In contrast, if they have dealt with someone who prohibits the utilization of cryptocurrencies, then they cannot enforce such action against them.
Small amounts appear in p2p exchanges, I think that even in Europe it is no more than 10,000 dollars for a bank payment, but most likely these are small amounts of 200-2000 dollars. Unfortunately, due to such damage, it makes no sense to contact the police. I perceive such losses as payment for the lesson.

The problem here is that these 2 main drug addicts and their team did not act independently, and they had their patrons in higher authorities. Therefore, next year we will see even more vivid rhetoric of some American politicians before the elections.
