1622  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 26, 2012, 05:27:03 PM
please STFU about the police, what do you want them to do? magically fixing the database, so that everyone can get there money? shoot genjix?

they can do absolutely nothing in this case, except messing things more up. so please STFU.

You STFU.   It's important for people to understand this was an inside job.

why is it important?

personally i dont care; i just want to have my money back (btw this thread is called "Payout update" not "find the hacker").
1623  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty post ASIC? on: June 26, 2012, 01:45:13 PM
If everything is acurate then they will have chip with base potencial of 3.5GH/s @ ~2W. With little "overclocking" it will be 4GH/s @2.5W. 10 of these will be in Single= 40GH/s and 250 in MiniRig=1TH/s. I doubt they design 3 different chips. How many they can realese to wild in one week? 100 for sure. Lets assume 500 per month = 2TH/s. So difficulty will double in summer next year... With cheap electricity GPU miners don't have to worry for at least one year.
Thats of course speculation, that don't include others ASIC manufacturers.
My guess is that price of bitcoin will drop signifficantly becuse they will be "made" cheaply, very cheaply.

This.

but that does not mean that there are more bitcoins available.

i am not sure, but i still think price will go down after reward halfing (only through speculation - too rip people off which invested before the reward halfing)

i dont think asics will have a huge influence on price.
1624  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CryptoExchange's incomplete API on: June 26, 2012, 09:23:09 AM
isn't this a nice and easy-to-implement security feature?
of course mtgox like api keys are the way to go...
1625  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 26, 2012, 07:22:15 AM
would be nice to know how many percent got their first 50% payout...
i just want to know when you start payout out the other 50% and when will you start to pay out usd?

btw. my last mail from genjix said that i was not fully verified (it seems they have two records from me in their database: one is correct the other one isn't). i received 50% btc payout; but dont know what my status is right now.
1626  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitForce SC - Pre Order List on: June 25, 2012, 09:09:20 PM
I'm a little bit nervous as I have not received an email confirmation from Bit-pay, no confirmation from BFL, and I'm out ~209 BTC :|

Here's hoping they just got slammed again with orders on this stuff, they are a small operation, it's going to take some time to sort things out, and nothing sinister is afoot.
You should have gotten an email instantly, if you used Bit-pay.

i did not get a mail too and contacted bit-pay support.
they told me that they won't send a confirmation mail.
"Your order is good.  That comment is meant for orders placed through our
shopping cart, but right now it gets displayed on every receipt.

Just bookmark the URL of the receipt and that's all you need.  BFL's
database can take you from here.

Thanks"

this is what i got from bfl (prior to my payment):
"Thank you for placing your BitForce Jalapeno order.

This is confirmation that your order was successfully placed in our system.

If you've chosen an instant payment method and have completed that transaction, then your order is confirmed.  If you've chosen a payment method that requires additional information such as a bank wire transfer instructions, please stand by for an email from customer service within the next business day.

Kind regards,

Customer service team

BF Labs Inc. "

so i guess i am fine.
1627  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NPW 5.1 p2Pool - bad luck or flawed? on: June 25, 2012, 09:13:17 AM
maybe many p2pool miners have the problem with "LOST CONTACT WITH BITCOIND FOR 1.3min"
^^ i think this could explain longer round lengths

is there any solution for this problem? will bitcoin0.7 help? does bitcoin0.7 even work with p2pool?

I'm not sure how this would lead to longer round lengths - as far as I know, the equivalent D 1 shares are calculated using the pool hashrate, which is in turn calculated using the submitted variable difficulty shares.

I'm probably wrong though - can you explain the above in a bit more detail?

As far as solutions to the "LOST CONTACT WITH BITCOIND" problem goes, I'll leave that to the p2Pool community - I really don't know, sorry.

i thought you meant "time" by "round length".
but if this refers to submitted shares i just dont know.

If Bitcoinica's business model was viable, why shut it down? Why not fix the security problem and use the business profits to replace the stolen funds?

Bitcoinica will come back after a complete rewrite and all claims are processed.

+1

the "security problem" was a mail-server combined with unsecure hosting password-reset workflows.
genjix said the code quality was poor (ZT said otherwise)

and please dont forget that they lost parts of their database. i guess this is the main problem as it seems they already have all stolen funds replaced.

i really hope that bitconica comes back - but i am sure they'll recode it in a well-known (by them) language.
i would really like if the "new" bitconica uses mtgox and intersango for hedging (*hint* we love low spreads)

but please keep the ease-of-use ZT was able to build!
1631  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 21, 2012, 05:26:08 AM
i received 50% of my btc balance too
thank you!

We can meet today if you want. Send me an email to genjix@riseup.net.

would that help fasten up the payout process?
i dont want to drive to london... but berlin is a possible

No.

What helps is sending your information or anything usable to verify@bitcoinica.com to be attached to your ticket. Getting the numbers exactly right if you can remember them is also very useful.

What will hurt your claim is an inaccurate or falsified report. Claims not matching the records are pushed to the back of the queue.
when will we get our money approx.? 1 hour? 2 days? weeks? (years?)

genjiix said "hopefully in a month" in another thread

1634  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Ultimate blockchain compression w/ trust-free lite nodes on: June 18, 2012, 10:41:10 AM
isn't it possible to merge mine the balance chain just like many pools do with namecoin?
that way there is not need to give any reward to miners. just include it in bitcoind as a "protocol requirement" for mining.

1636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hey for the love of Satoshi can I PLEASE pay a tx fee? on: June 18, 2012, 08:17:44 AM
afaik MtGox has a contract with Luke-Jr's pool for including its transactions.
so they dont need to pay a fee (dont know if they do)

Has anything happened further with this event? I have not seen any dates as of yet, and nothing listed on the website.

Am I missing another source of information for this event?

Would love to attend but need dates etc.

I discovered today it says 15-16 september on http://bitcoin2012.com/

Wow really? it was December last I heard here... why isn't that being announced?

Bitcoinica issue is delaying the organisation of this. Until Bitcoinica payouts have been made (which should hopefully be within a month).

1639  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: June 15, 2012, 05:22:17 PM
finally i've migrated my wallet.dat to blockchain.info.

thank you very much for this nice service Wink

it was a little bit difficult to get the private keys out of my crypted wallet (i used a fork from pywallet; but this fork did have another dump format - oh well... had to import 50+ private keys by hand)

just a small suggestion:
i really like the archived address feature. is it possible to set them to auto-sweep?
just like mtgox: whenever btc's arrive on an archived address i want to sweep them automatically to my main address.
would be fine if this only works when i am logged in.
The sweeping is done at the time you click the button.  There is no way for him to auto sweep without you having a client open at all times.  Blockchain.info doesn't have access to your private keys, remember? He has no way of sending funds without you decrypting the keys on your client.

It might be kind of nice for it to auto sweep whenever you are logged in.  It can't ever work like Gox though.

bolded a relevent part for you
