now think for a minute how much would 10millions coins (all the bitcoin) go for on this market

100million, or 1 billion?  Tongue

There is no such thing as buying the whole market. Nobody has that much money because the price will just go up infinitely. I certainly wouldn't be selling all my coins no matter what the price is and I think that there would be others who would keep some as well.

As bearish as I am and remain, I've still got a nice stash of bitcoins in offline storage that intend to keep forever, even though recent price movements have been tempting me to sell.

So your bear in your avatar is really a bull wearing a bear suit?

Pirate's announcement of interest rates cut for August 1st and beyond tells me that his profit margin is either getting diminished or he wants to up his profit margin to have more "pull" in the market.

Either way these next 6 weeks should be interesting in bitcoin price terms.

I say at the end of August we will have hit $12-$15/bitcoin.

I'll sell a bunch to you today for $11.  All that profit will be yours!

Where did I say I wanted to buy at $11?

How about this I'll accept your offer in October okay? Let's say Halloween (October 31st). I'll buy 50 BTC at $11 each on that day from you.

Deal?

Chicken?

Troll?

I wouldn't be surprised if he did this to make us all think that he is "always" in control of the market. If he succeeds in getting people to think that then he can get you to buy and sell when he wants.

People don't be stupid. The market is much much bigger than pirate himself and his massive ego.
16327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is in big trouble and is ultimately doomed! on: July 17, 2012, 09:20:07 AM
Bitcoin is gone, I can see its obvious and inevitable now... The price going up is the first sign of its ultimate failure, and I am so confident that this is the case, I have actually deleted my entire wallet.dat file and all the bitcoins there... Games up guys, time to move to the next project! Smiley

Yes just like how all other companies whose stocks value went up...were considered "failing"....LOL
16328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price will reach $25 by the end of the year on: July 17, 2012, 09:10:09 AM
How about parity with silver? Boy, would that be a big one! *bling* Grin *bling*

Already did that in June 2011. Silver was about $33 an ounce and bitcoins hit about $32.

Parity with gold would be golden!
16329  Economy / Auctions / Re: Liteco.in domain on: July 17, 2012, 07:32:14 AM

The kind of price action that we are currently witnessing is to be expected and reminds me of my early days trading futures. Back in early 2000, or so, Eurexchange opened up a electronic futures exchange which competed with London's LIFFE, which was open outcry and very very corrupt. Banks where tired of all the slippage caused by the open outcry system and decided to shift their trading to Eurex. All of a sudden everyone had access to trade multiple markets at once (as opposed to being stuck in one pit), and spread trades between different futures contracts became a lot more tradeable. Furthermore, in the early days all order-entry was manually done by a carbon based person, no bots, no algos, no co-located servers etc, so it was all up to the speed and ingenuity of the trader. During the early Wild West days of futures trading, before all the bots made it very hard for humans to gain any edge, there was a legendary trader rumored to be based in Ireland, nicknamed - The Flipper. This trader didn't so much make money out of the market as he did spoofing bids and offers, pulling them all at once and shifting the market and essentially capturing his money from other traders. This lasted until 2005 or so when the market outgrew his capacity for gaming it. You can read about it here:

http://www.traderdaily.com/08/insight-from-the-flipper-catching-up-with-paul-rotter/

On another note. Bitcoin needs to have a global exchange that pools all of the smaller exchanges volumes so as to ensure greater order depth. It's silly that a few USD 100K can push the price of bitcoin around by 10+% or so on a single day. Just shows how small and undeveloped this market is.

Yes undeveloped in the sense that the price of bitcoin is grossly undervalued.
16331  Economy / Speculation / Where else can the price go (in the long term) but up? on: July 17, 2012, 07:14:44 AM
With the following list I can't see how prices can remain below $7/btc by December 31st of 2012:

1. Block reward having (i know i know repeating it a million times)

2. More efficient mining equipment to hit the market inevitable as technology gets better and miners seek to have the "edge" over others.

3. Price rising without any news media hype.

4. With elections in a few months and our financial system in turmoil I can see stocks tanking, USD exchange markets tanking, gold and silver price taking a hit via manipulation (possibly).

5. (i'm sure that I've forgotten something....but oh well you get the picture)

Note: Recent volatility we saw today between $7.40 and $9.50 is nothing just looking at previous price movements.

16332  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: July 17, 2012, 06:31:39 AM
This volatility is nothing compared to last May, June, July, and August.

16333  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ladies and Gentleman, There goes $9 on: July 17, 2012, 01:38:33 AM
or we shoot up to $50 and then stabilize around 25 for several month

Works for me.

The next move has to be down.

Care to give a rational explanation for this?  Have any fundamentals changed since the rise from $2 to $8?

I didn't mean the very next move.  But this is going to pop soon.
Yeah, I hope so.  Cry *prays to the bear bitcoin god*

Disclaimer: I wanted to buy, but my second money influx missed it.  Cry
