This thread is a failure.

1. Pointless whining
2. Unwarranted self importance
3. Not accomplished anything
4. OP did nothing for bitcoin except justifying personal greed.
5. troll post
6. fail

Your posting here indeed describes yourself in your 6 points of failure on your part. Grin
17182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show is a Failure on: August 29, 2011, 09:47:54 PM
You guys should link to your favorite Bitcoin show.

Or start your own if you think you can do better.

I don't think I could do any better. That's not the point. We all have our strengths and Bruce obviously is in the right position just with possibly the wrong vision or attitude or outlook.

Just because we disagree with how the show is going doesn't necessarily imply we think we can do any better of a job.

I just think he could do a better job than he is currently.
17183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:37:23 PM
What port do I open on my router for i0coin?

Wasn't there a "how to" in one of the recent threads?
17184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:31:15 PM
I'm on bitparking, 10 blocks found for them, 317 coins given to me.
That's a touch more than 5% fee!

I can't get the i0coind to run on winxp or win7, nor to compile at all on linux, so no solo mining for me Sad

Ya I'm not going to tolerate that much variance. Ridiculous. Angry
17185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:24:36 PM
Seems rather low, but it could just be variance.  I mean we could technically have found 0 blocks individually and still be at our current coin count.  I think it'll smooth out over time.

Well I am curious how many others have the exact same issue. If all 20Gh/s of which I'm 20% of are getting this discrepancy then I think it is noteworthy.

I highly doubt that someone has found 0 blocks yet is getting all the rest of our coins.

That makes no sense.

I'm putting down about 1.3GH/s so between you and me, that's a little over 22% I think.

Edit: How long til the next retarget?

Dunno. But I'm going to solo mine and see how things pan out. The rate at which I make blocks on bitparking when compared to rewards is too variant.

Unacceptable especially when I have to pay 5% fee on top of all that variance.

w00t! 19 blocks found, for a total of 405 coins now Smiley

i'm at 20 blocks 611 coins.

Is something wrong? 48 coins per block yea?
17188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 07:39:03 PM
How many coins per block are there now?

48 coins per block!

Damn, I've found 16 blocks for the Bitparking pool but only have like 360 coins FML

Same here I am missing like 20% or more at bitparking pool when I mine. I found like 18 blocks but only got like 525 coins.

DoubleC are we missing something here? I've got 4 GH/s pointed at your pool and there is no way myself and moustpotato are creating blocks at that rate and not getting our proper shares.

17189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 07:23:30 PM
How does difficulty adjust in this new release?
17190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternate cryptocurrencies exchange on TradeHill and MtGox !!! on: August 29, 2011, 06:56:17 PM
Let's let these new currencies establish themselves first then when it is time they will be added for trading on those exchanges.

Until then let's just enjoy the mining and profit =) Grin
17191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 05:25:41 PM
Okay it appears my old wallet with 50 i0coins does not seem to confirm with the block chain. But when I create a diff i0coin address with same wallet file in the folder and run the my miners on it it confirms.

Any ideas?
17192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 04:41:04 PM
Awesome good job! Cheesy
17193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 11:41:47 AM
committed

Ok, got a windows binary rebuilt with all the changes discussed above... Just need a ok place to post it.

Obviously no one should trust these binaries and you should compile yourself.... but those not inclined to do so we do have an update available.

Link?
17194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Bitcoin Show is a Failure on: August 29, 2011, 11:38:58 AM
This is my take as a viewer since the inception of the first Bitcoin Show episode.

Simple put: The Bitcoin Show is a FAILURE because:

1. Over exaggerated comments Bruce has made that has been shown to be untrue.
2. Lack of content.
3. Blatent censorship/ignoring of important questions (i.e. Why an Mt. Gox auditor needed the plaintext database of users).
4. Unrealistic expectations of bitcoin saying bitcoin only goes "up up up".
5. Making claims of security/decentralization being VERY IMPORTANT then having 25000 btc in one place on a third-party site.
6. Taking 20 shows to get an audio issue fixed. Seriously if you can't hear the show what's the point in watching it.

I do respect the fact that Bruce did come on-air and addressed the mybitcoin.com fiasco but that does not take away from the fact that the show he runs to promote bitcoin is a failure.
17195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 10:46:39 AM

17197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] SolidCoin - new and improved block chain. Secure from pools on: August 29, 2011, 04:09:45 AM
If time it takes to mine 240 blocks exceeds 12 hours then the difficulty will drop.

Got it?
17198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 28, 2011, 08:41:16 PM
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I couldn't find anywhere else.

Is anyone selling i0coins?

Thanks.

I have 400 i0coins you can buy for $0.01 BTC each

Are you denominating in bitcoins or dollars? The way you wrote it is confusing "$0.01 BTC".

If it is BTC that is a super rip off lol.
17199  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin is a closed system on: August 28, 2011, 11:37:25 AM
Bitcoin was supposed to be limited, so hyperinflation doesn't occur. Apparently creating new blockchains is a workaround for this limitation -- a limitation which was put there for the stability of Bitcoin.

Any windfall from mining "alternate blockchains" HAS to come from somewhere -- maybe partially from me, when I sell my 10 BTC for $85 instead of $115? It's gotta be. For every extra dollar gained *someone* is losing a dollar.

I don't think many people understand this whole *coin universe is a closed system. 100% closed. As in, only so much money sloshing around.

John, Mike, Frank, Sally, Alice, and Tom are playing "economy" with seashells and buttons. There are only so many of either, so the economy is stable. They trade them in exchange for US Dollars, too. Sure, once in a while one of the kids begs his/her mom for a few bucks of their next allowance...but basically there is only $5 from each kid in "the system" sloshing around. One person's windfall is another person's wipeout. And if Tom starts another currency, "Acorns" and starts trading them for buttons/seashells, it's bound to bring down the value of the existing 2 currencies. The fact is that only $25 is sloshing around the kids' "economy", which would have to be the total value of the various "currencies" they're trading. Now what if the seashells and buttons were limited, but the acorns weren't? In other words, the value of their existing currency(ies) were stable, but then a second or third currency comes along, and causes the value of the STABLE currency to drop, because demand is divided up.

I think the key point here is: Even if the quantity of Seashells is carefully monitored to prevent hyperinflation, the introduction of a second currency (Acorns) can cause hyperinflation IF two conditions are met: A) the citizens use both currencies, B) the price of Acorns is pegged to Seashells

Zimbabwe experienced hyperinflation, but it didn't affect us here in the US, because no one here uses Zim dollars. Moreover, we don't peg the dollar's value to "how many Zim dollars" it's worth. The same can't be said for Bitcoin and other *coins. The latter are easily traded for BTC, BY THE SAME SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE.

Anyone holding their wealth (or a portion of it) today in "solidcoins" or "IXcoins" means that much less demand for BTC. No wonder BTC is $8.50 instead of $11.50 like last week.

This describes the Bitcoin universe to a T. It's a closed system. We have X members, with a total of $X they can play around with in this Bitcoin game. People come and go, making and losing money, but when you make $10 it's coming from someone else. (Unlike the real economy, where wealth is actually created.)

Show me a factory that was built with Bitcoins (no USD) and I'll be proven wrong. All we have in the Bitcoin economy (besides gambling and speculation) is a few niche retailers selling things like T-shirts. These "mom & pop" shops have to sell their BTC immediately to buy more T-shirts, since their suppliers don't accept Bitcoin. So you spend 2 BTC on a shirt (causing 2 BTC to be "bought" on the market) and the seller has to SELL 2 BTC on the market. How does it help the market to spend 2 BTC?

You forget that in order to buy these alternative currencies you need BTC. So if you are coming in to invest into namecoins or ixcoins etc you have to either mine or BUY btc which makes the btc price go up NOT down.

What makes BTC price go down is people cashing out of BTC. It has nothing to do with alternative currencies.

Get it right!

By the way, on the upcoming Bitcoin World Cruise....  Not only is all food is included....  but ALL ALCOHOL is free (included) as well.

And I'm serious. I am not sure if you are sincerely naive and really think you are doing bitcoin a favor with statements like this or if you are just trolling and deliberately trying to upset people who try to or hope for bitcoin to get a better reputation.

A bitcoin meetup in a place that is known to be a pedophile resort, talking about a bitcoin cruise and then putting emphasis on FREE ALCOHOL... I am anxiously awaiting your announcement that the amsterdam meetup will be held in a coffeshop with free weed for everyone.

Seriously. You are just making it worse and worse.

lol free weed?
