I didn't brick them. I was thinking replacing bios from USB would be more effective. I am not sure if it's necessary. I just don't know what to do as after flashing bios hashing dropped to 12Mh and then after loading the backup rom it remained at 12Mh. Everytime I reboot my computer my core and memory clock are on the lowest setting and I have to reset them in afterburn before mining. So I didn't really brick them but I am looking for a way to get them to the 'out of the box' state that would work for me.
Did you reinstall drivers after flashing the card?

Anyone have better hashrate for this Asus Strix RX480 8G?
My current setup:
AMD17.4.3, mod with 1750 to 2000 Power +5 Core: 1215 Mem: 2045 (will slowly crank up to see any more) Win10 claymore 9.4 dual ETH: 28.5 (mem 2040 about this number too) Drc: 850 Temp running 68C (room is 28-30C) system with another 2 GTX card on Skein
Yours??
I have Asus Dual RX 480, 30.1MH/s Samsung. And 2x Strix 470 29mH/s Samsung and Elpida. It all depends on memory brand what you have.

has anyone found/made a better strap for elpida 470/570 4gb?
I have good one, 29+MH/s There's a space (or a weird formatting) in that strap...
Maybe he like bricked card

hi, i have 2 msi rx 580 8gb gaming hynix what i have do it is: i copied from my original bios 2:1750 too 2:2000 and 2:2250 and set from afterburner core clock 1150 and memory clock 2080, i reach from 22mh too 26.3mh but when i set memory clock more than 2080 i reach 27.5mh but after few second my pc crash and black screen! what can i do please? any sugestion please? thanks.
It's 30 minutes since first post and in the EU it's midnight... You just overclock too high. Set it to stock, check for memory errors. Than you can start stepping up memory clocks by 10MHz.

I am hoping to get more than that if possible cards are still pretty new to the market. When I went down to 12 I then copied 1:1650 to 1:1750 and 1:2000 - resulting in coming back to 24Mh. I am thinking now about "unbricking" the cards with bootable USB and then copying the strips like I did previously. Has anyone has experience with 4gb hynix cards? How did you brick your cards?

I just wanted to chime in with my current hash rates of some of the cards I'm using.
Please note that I haven't really optimized that much, I've only modded the memory straps in the bios' and then underclocked core and overclocked memory with SimpleMining.
6x Sapphire RX 570 Pulse Mini (ITX): 28.10MH/s ETH + 420MH/s SIA. 1500 straps, 1106MHz core clock and 2000MHz memory clock. Have powertune set to 1 in SimpleMining. Hynix memory. 4x Asus RX 570 Expedition OC: 27.15MH/s ETH + 430MH/s SIA. 1500 straps, 1180MHz core clock and 1900MHz memory clock. Have powertune set to 6 in SimpleMining. Elpida memory.
I just set up the 4x Asus cards while I'm waiting for risers to be delivered. I still have 14x more Asus RX 570 Expedition OC and 12x Asus RX 570 Strix Gaming OC to go through but I'm waiting for risers.
Not bad! What memory brand? You can do better with performance timings, if you have Samsung use Uber-mix 3.1. You can PM me, I have plenty of timings for every memory brand, also I've made bios tutorial. xfx black RX570 4gbs with elpida..not time to play yet,but first shot with 1200/2000 975mv and some other small changes with power limits.. has been stable 7-8hours @29.9mhs..GPU-Z says 83-85watts.. used a custom strap from my xfx black 470s, i found it on the custom timings thread here.its faster by 1mhs then the stock 1500. will let you know how far i can push them...my asics are from 74-88 mixed. ELPIDA -xfx black 4gb..works on 470s and 570s ..best strap iv found so far. i didnt make it,forget who did..just sharing, good luck.

Yep, Elpida is good I like them too, right behind Samsung. 30MH/s is pretty good, my Elpida does only little bit above 29MH/s, maybe it could be higher with better Claymore config, I'm mining Monero.

Hi,
I have a rig with 6 x rx580s that started mining at 24Mh out of the box. I experimented with the bios a little bit, got it down to 12, now it's back at 24 and I am a little depressed as I can't get more than that and I tried for the last two days. I will appreciate all help, thanks.
You need to mod bios. Hynix s*cks it's very bad right now. You can find few good tutorials on youtube and lot of bad. Performance timings is the key. You should have at least 28Mh/s. PM me if you want timings or mod bios.

That's crazy, I get 29.5 with my 580, samsung @ 2230 memories with 1750 strap.
Samsung is great but you should be mining 30+ at least. Try performance timings, Uber-mix 3.1 is the best. New to this when you say memory limited do you mean ETH needs more memory, 8GB instead of 4GB ?
Thanks
Not really, if you have more than 2GB it's fine. I think he meant memory bandwith, but it depends on memory clock, timings and core clock. On these RX cards it very depends on timings, just copy straps isn't as good as using performance timings for mining ETH, ETC, XMR etc.

Hello guys.
I'm new here, but I'm reading this forum from couple weeks. Because of this forum I started my own journey into Crypto Currencies world.
I bought used (but it still got 1,5y warranty) R9 380 Strix 2gb couple weeks ago and i started mining (couple hours a day and a few nights). I treat this mainly as a hobby, mining only Zcash (cards produce about 180 sols/s at stock clocks) and in the meantime learn about awesomeness of cryptos in general. I used MSI Afterburner as a hardware monitor and i settled a little more aggressive fan curve. Reading was fine, car under full load (mining or gaming in general) run at 65C at 40% fan speed. But I was curious what could be power draw. So i downloaded GPU-Z which didnt show anything different than MSI) and HWinfo. I was totally shocked when I saw 87C on Vram sensor. I immediately turn down miner, speed up fans and started thinking what should I do. Vram is idling at 72C, during light task (ie watching movie). Is this could be a failure in sensor (vrams in theory should produce low heat)? My case is Phanteks Enthoo Pro, so airflow souldnt be a problem, PSU is Corsair RM650x.
Can you guys help me out? I dont think that mining/gaming on this card is safe in general (and I dont want to run fans at full speed all the time).
I think VRAM could handle about 125°C. You could buy heatsink for them, on ebay or aliexpress they are pretty cheap and thermal paste. Check for memory errors if they are hot it start getting memory errors or it happens to my RX 480 Asus Dual.

Hello prettycode (and everyone else!), would you mind sharing where you can purchase the cards for that price? Personally I have the 570 and it mines ETH at 22,4 out of the box and stays fairly cool, I believe the 580 will give you a bit more though.
What do you have memory brand? 22.4 that's more like R9 380... stock should be like 24MH/s. You can push it 28+ or 30 if you are lucky. PM me if you want mine more.

I have the option of getting either of these two 4GB ASUS RX 5X0 cards (both in stock, have put on "reserve") at the same price ($199.99 USD): ROG-STRIX-RX 570-O4G-GAMING DUAL-RX 580-O4G Power consumption is not a concern. Will be used to mine ETC, ETH, XMR. Any reason to get one over the other? Will be using ethOS. The Engine Clock on the 580 is 1380 MHz vs. 1310 MHz on the 570, and the 580 has 2304 Stream Processors vs. 2048 on the 570. I don't notice any other differences. DUAL RX 580? They still doin that? I tought they change for Expedition edition... Strix are good one, but they comes with Elpida, Samsung and sadly with Hynix too. XMR: 830H/s with Samsung, 820H/s with Elpida both 470. Dual is pretty bad... I have 480 8G, but I have 835H/s it cost me 40 bucks more than 470 strix... And O8G dual can't handle memory overclock with performance timings, so I return it. With uber-mix 3.2 it was only about 700H/s... Strix has much better cooling... those fans are the best you can have. Sadly there is no heatsink on memory, but no problem so far. Dual cooling is noisy and shitty... It could be better on the new expedition edition, but it seems to have same 80mm shitty fans.

Hello everyone,
I have 6x XFX RX580 8GB all with Hynix memory. Out the box they hash at about 22.1-22.7 MH/s. I updated the drivers to latest. I am testing two cards in my gaming pc until the TB-250 gets here. I have tried to under-clock the cclock and it does not affect the hashrate so pretty sure I'm good there. But in trying to overclock the memory, I put it up to 2050, and I drop to 19.5 MH/s. Only on the first card, GPU0, the second card typically doesn't get affected. I am doing this with the AMD settings desktop app. I tried also with MSI Afterburner but same results. Played around with under-volting and got decent power consumption drop.
Finally I patched the drivers, loaded up ATIWinFlash and modded bios(flipped switch on GPU toward rear) by copying the 1:1750 timings to the 1:2000 timings. Saved and loaded and still same hashrate while same situation as far as overclocking while dropping in MH/s rate.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!!
22MH/s for stock is possible, it should be more like 24Mh/s, but it could be also the motherboard, TB-250 will push it more. Hynix is the main problem, but you should be running at least 28MH/s with good timings. PM me if you want it.

Ethereum now, and myb Zcash, are they work under 100 watts? ty
GPU-Z says 76-79W but I'm mining Monero.

I've successfully modded the BIOS so it works stably at 27MH/s when mining ETH. I used SRBPolarisEditor and replaced the 2:1750 straps with 2: straps above. Set Mem Clock on MSI Afterburner to 1140 and Core Clock on 2000.
Working stably for 2 days now.
Mine RX Sapphire 570 Nitro+ has Samsung and Micron memories.
How is the Micron? I don't have them so I'm curious. 27MH/s for Samsung is pretty low. Could be 29+. Use performance timings or PM me. http://www.overclock.net/t/1604567/polaris-bios-editing-rx5xx-rx4xx

Hello everyone,
I have a few preoccupation with the eutheurm mining I would build.
First of all I have a very bad internet connection in my town, 450Kb/s. Is it important to have a good connection/PING to get a better chance to solve a block? If I understand well, I have to download the whole block chain, then block per block.
In the other hand I sign for a 6KVA contract for my electricity and I wonder how much KVA will use a 5 rx 580 GPU rig, with a 1200w alim.
It's maybe dumb question, but I can't find those info and they are the only who still blow my mind befor I start to buy the stuff.
450Kb/s should be fine, it's download? What is upload speed? Ping is more important than the speed. Personally I would say if you have average ping under 100ms it's ok. 6KVA is that kilovolt ampers? What's your voltage? 580 are very power intesive, I don't have 5xx series, but for 4xx you should count 140-150W for 1 GPU. So even if you count with 200W for 1 GPU it's OK for 1200W. But you better wait for someone with 5xx series.
