I tried the --nocpu parameter, but it does not exist:

[2017-10-21 19:02:15] : Parameter unknown '--nocpu'
Press any key to exit.

Back to sgminer again  Grin

UPDATE: Wow, the correct parameter is '--noCPU' (https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/blob/dev/doc/usage.md#command-line-options), case-sensitive... on Windows! What do you know.
I've updated the instructions for XMR-STAK, I haven't tried it without CPU yet Cheesy The hashrate is little bit lower then with XMR-STAK-AMD, but it's only pre-release. I will update Windows binary every week if there will be changes.

Ok, so I tried it, but had some struggles. First it didn't start properly, because there was a part missing in the generated amd.txt about "gpu_thread_num". Luckely I had my old config file so I could add this part to the amd.txt config. But then I noticed that this new miner also uses my CPU and I couldn't find where to turn this off. It also complains about "Memory alloc failed: virtualAlloc failed" errors all the time. I have LARGE PAGE SUPPORT configured properly. Overall my hashrate went down from 2600 h/sec to 1800 h/sec so I am back to sgminer.
Yeah, I will add these instructions. Just make bat file with --nocpu, I wrote about the problem with gpus thread just put the line from instructions here to the AMD.txt and change number of cards or thread if you use 2 threads.

Did you build this yourself? I switched recently from xmr-stak-amd to sgminer, because xmr-stak-amd was just 'freezing' after a while. It's just like people are mentioning in https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak-amd/issues/110. Sgminer doesn't seem to crash, at least not since i started it. I really liked xmr-stak-amd because of the webinterface and the statistics. However, i see that issue 110 is still open, so i am not sure if i should try xmr-stak again. It is really annnoying to see that my rig is eating electricity, but no hashes are generated.

Yes I've built it, it has some bugs, this bug occured also in seperate versions sometimes. You may try it now, we fixed some build problems, download again.

AEON Mining!
Lot of you start mine Monero and diff got very high, so maybe you think you might switch for an alternative like AEON. You can mine AEON almost same as Monero, miners need some changes and hashrate is doubled. Here you can find ports of XMR-STAK AMD, NVIDIA, CPU, soon I will add other miners.

If you have DLL problem download https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
If you have problem with Nvidia Cuda error, you need to have installed new drivers that support CUDA 9 like 384.xx or newer. Also try set threads to 20 or 26 for every card then you can try to tweak it, refer to Nvidia version down here.
Best Nvidia drivers: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads

Note: Antivirus might block it.

AMD

Recommended drivers:Blockchain drivers - for Windows 10 1703
 or the newest 17.12 - Adrenaline, these drivers you need to switch to compute workload

AEON is best to mine with AMD CPU should be still profitable, NVIDIA is profitable but has lower hashrate than AMD.

    "bfactor" : 6, "bsleep" :  25,
    "affine_to_cpu" : false,
  },

You can tweak your hashrate with threads and blocks
Choose Value for threads and blocks
https://github.com/stoffu/aeon-stak-nvidia#choose-value-for-threads-and-blocks

The optimal parameter for the threads and blocks option in config.txt depend on your GPU. For all GPU's with a compute capability >=2.0 and <6.0 there is a restriction of the amount of RAM that can be used for the mining algorithm. The maximum RAM that can be used must be less than 2GB (e.g. GTX TITAN) or 1GB (e.g. GTX 750-TI). The amount of RAM used for mining can be changed with "threads" : T, "blocks : B".

    T = threads used per block
    B = CUDA blocks started (should be a multiple of the multiprocessors M on the GPU)

For the 2GB limit the equations must be full filled: T * B * 2 <= 1900 and B mod M == 0. The value 1900 is used because there is a little data overhead for administration. The GTX Titan X has 24 multiprocessors M, this means a valid and good starting configuration is "threads" : 16, "blocks : 48" and full fill all restrictions 16 * 48 * 2 = 1536 and 48 mod 24 = 0.

The memory limit for NVIDIA Pascal GPUs is 16 GiB if the newest CUDA driver is used.
Windows or Linux Interactive Usage

To work (surf) with you desktop system while you are running the miner you need to find a good value for bfactor and bsleep. On windows, you need to set the option bfactor and bsleep if the miner crashs shortly after starting. A good value to start on windows is "bfactor" : 6, "bsleep" : 25. To reach the maximum hash rate you must set both values to zero "bfactor" : 0, "bsleep" : 0.

Output control
Press 'h' (hashrate), 'r' (results) or 'c' (connection) to print reports.

Firstly, I'm sorry if this is answered somewhere already!

My question is: If Byzantium fork hits, do I have to make any changes to my miner and config?  Huh
Using Nanopool, Claymore Dual Miner and MetaMask for the wallet.

Any idea to support Nvidia too?
Use XMR-STAK-NVIDIA.

1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SSDH (Solid State Hybrid) on: October 13, 2017, 09:00:43 AM
Not good for mining, if you want big storage buy HDD if you want fast storage buy SSD.
I had them only in laptop. They are not bad, but it has almost same speed as normal HDD, the cache is usually only 8GB so big part of that take Windows. For laptop it's great, but 2 Seagate I had were bad, after 1 year I've got lot of uncorrectable sectors and they start to be really slow. I've got different version and it still work. On my newer laptop they changed Seagate for Toshiba and it's much better, no problems and same speed.

Hi guys, what values / straps needed to be modded for XMR  ?  (i have MSI RX570 4GB Hynix)  thanks
You mean like bios mod? Or what to edit in timing strap for better XMR hashrate?

1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Low hashrate Sapphire RX480 Nitro Plus on: October 10, 2017, 05:42:57 PM
You can easily mod the bios by yourself. Even with timings used in PBE 1.6 you can have probably the 28MH/s for free. You can use my guide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1954245.0
RX 480/580 Hynix can do 32MH/s, maybe more, even the bad cards doing around 30MH/s.
Use blockchain drivers for ETH.
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS MINING-RX470-4G on: October 09, 2017, 04:41:06 PM
I got some Powercolor 570 and I'm only getting 23 Mh/s I'm not sure if this can bring something when eth went high but right now I'm just taking this
so I can hold some eth after this year, I was aiming for Asus before but after reading here I got the idea to keep my gpu and add some more when
I got some extra cash.
You should mod the bios for better hashrate, you can use my guide.
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Downgrade Driver - Catalyst (Crimson) 15.12 on: October 09, 2017, 02:48:28 PM
Does this Catalyst (Crimson) 15.12 driver work with RX 480?
Why would you use them? Use blockchain drivers. Or some 17.6.x if you want WattTool and don't need DAG epoch fix.
1120  Other / Meta / Fraud E-mail for Bitcointalk Forum Donation!! on: October 09, 2017, 02:41:10 PM
I've just got this e-mail for Bitcointalk donation. It started to be strange because I've got it on to my monerobiosedit@gmail.com e-mail and I don't have it registered here, only as secondary contact. So I've checked the wallet and it's not the same as here https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html

Seems like someone has already donated something Sad
