1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook I-use-bitcoin aka. bitcoin-faucet app on: May 25, 2012, 05:30:18 AM
Remember you are dealing with a closed system.

If it ever got popular enough for facebook to notice they would remove it.

Did you see how bad their IPO went.  Someone needs to buy those worthless facebook credits.  They don't want the sheep to know alternatives exist.

I'm not talking about putting in years of work. Something like this we could do this weekend and apart from moving balance of the faucet between cold and hot storage not touch it later. (version 1)

Apart from that, getting kicked out is a good thing for publicity, too. Wouldn't worry for the weekend spent.
1742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Facebook I-use-bitcoin aka. bitcoin-faucet app on: May 25, 2012, 04:58:46 AM
Hi,

I did some facebook apps and thought it might be a good idea to do a bitcoin faucet app that not only acts as a faucet in the sense of the original faucet, but also as a foundation to connect with others using bitcoin on facebook.

version 1: you can provide a cash out address (it invites you to go to instawallet, etc ...) and receive a mBTC. If the faucet ran dry, it will send it to you later if you didn't remove the app by then.

version 2: you can see your friends that also use the bitcoin app.

version 3: it acts like an instawallet itself (per-account receiving address)

version 4: viral messages to the wall of friends ...

Who's interested? The Facebook-API-stuff - store user data in a database, determin first visits, provide a button to cash out the mBTC in PHP - is easy and I would do it. I never did the BTC part though.

Weird works fine for me. Have you tried connecting again?

yes

If it is still not working could you run http://cc.rtmfp.net ? Thanks

actually for some reason your site did not work in chromium so i always used FF. Now when I try it in chromium, I get:

Code:
An ActionScript error has occurred:

1744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had $5000 to invest right now: Coins or Hardware? Whats your rationale? on: May 25, 2012, 12:19:28 AM
very interesting thread.

of course, i think 1 year is short sighted. afterall, the hardware isn't ALL going to melt down into piles of goo in exactly 12 months. it'll keep earning. also, as we've just seen, the difficulty is far more fungible then a steady 5% increase.

i say hardware - and the lower the electricity it uses, the better!

oh, i guess in one year you will not burn all your hardware but with my 8 cards the trend was going in that direction.
1745  Economy / Services / Re: Cam4BTC the first Bitcoin camming site [NO FEES] [Cross platform] on: May 25, 2012, 12:17:19 AM
ok, I know if it works, you don't see a need for you to change anything but for the record:
I guess a solution could be to pack this information into an alert box that opens when you click the "choose input" button in the host screen.
1746  Economy / Services / Re: Cam4BTC the first Bitcoin camming site [NO FEES] [Cross platform] on: May 25, 2012, 12:04:04 AM
multi camera support:
I recently ran into the problem that it defaulted to the wrong camera. how do I get it to switch to the other cam?

not too eager to investigate the claims but if it's true, why is this thread so quiet?
1749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica stolen coin returns on: May 23, 2012, 05:49:52 PM
Anyone know what happened after the linode hack? Linode was clearly responsible, I wonder if they covered the damages and repaid to Bitcoinica.

Off topic! Moderators do something!!

... meanwhile let me speculate with you: All hosting I know has regulation saying that you will not have to pay for days that their service is offline if that is above a certain percentage. None of them askes how much the service is worth running per hour and surely none of them cares if you put crypto tokens on it that can be stolen. Most likely if you want to off-load that risk, you would have to find an insurance and if I were an insurance I would certainly not insure bitcoins that lay outside of my influence. insure - steal -claim it wasn't you - profit.
1750  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Camming Site on: May 23, 2012, 04:58:31 PM
That's because I separate parameters with an underscore: Channel=Lobby_Name=xy

I could add it to the FAQ but didn't want to complicate it. Same goes for the UI. I will think about this.

How about changing it to how the rest of the world does it Wink

Who's interested in doing a copy-cat as FOSS? I would be in with some hours per week.
1751  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Camming Site on: May 23, 2012, 02:45:42 AM
giszmo, why not set up your own service? Perhaps watchtwoord would give or sell the source to you.

Well, my offer to put some work into it at a share basis was already quite much regarding how much money I guess there is in this one particular solution aka I don't believe this will grow big. Bet it would be far to vulnerable to sabotage via many vectors. Yet the idea is good and worth being promoted. I have already 4 projects going that are all not getting the attention they deserve so I could spare some hours adding what I need if I get access but not get fully into this business. Also I don't want to compete in a business that has no money in it on the short run.
1752  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Camming Site on: May 23, 2012, 12:36:56 AM
1) Make being listed on the channel list optional
To not get interrupted by horny guys, yes.

2) Be able to provide a direct link to a channel (already implemented)
It isn't. http://www.cam4btc.com/?CHANNEL=sdaf did not ask me for my name assuming me to be a viewer taking me directly to the show. It just behaved like the link without "channel". And if I used it wrong: an undocumented feature isn't a feature in my eyes anyway. There should be a link in the host's screen at least.

If this is the case it would be pretty easy and relatively indisruptive for people using the site as it currently works (a single checkbox added to the start a broadcast menu).

Did I get what you were aiming at?

Also, could you elaborate on what you are planning on doing with it (I'm curious)? If you don't list yourself, only people you explicitly sent the link to will find the channel. If you already know who you're going to give a video presentation to why would you/they want to use this system? Did I really make it lightweight and easy enough to be able to compete with already existing solutions for this? Smiley
Well, which other solutions are there that are free to use and scale to at least 100 viewers easily? I'm thinking of Iran, so that's no credit card, no paypal and usually very low upstream. No hangouts and no Skype neither btw.
And ... usually people would freak out if there is porn less than 12 clicks away. You can safely assume this last point to be a problem in all Arab countries which is a huge market.

Links to alternative services are welcome in this particular case but generally my intention was to promote bitcoin as a wonderful thing for people in Iran.

Actually Iran announced to lock down outbound connections a long time ago and is blocking tons of stuff already so surely this would not grow big in Iran but it could be the spark to get bitcoin there.</dreaming>
1753  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Camming Site on: May 22, 2012, 11:32:08 PM
I need the previously requested feature for SFW-performers. Now for real.

If you don't have the man-power to do this, I could also help with that.
If you don't have the money to pay me, I would take a promise of shares of money generated via my feature.

What could work would be some stream4BTC that does not list channels but forward you to stream4BTC/host/UUID1
The host could get a guest-link stream4BTC/view/UUID2 to send to his visitors and an option to list the channel on cam4btc. I doubt though that many - especially pretty female - hosts would be happy to get disturbed by horny freaks when doing some non-porn presentation though.

If my feature request is totally wrong here, please point me to equally easy to use systems out there that I can show to women from very conservative countries without having to explain too much. Also I guess it is easier for many here to promote the technology with facebook posts if there is a sfw-section.
1754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Video Interview] Kenna and Shrem @ Future of Money Summit on: May 22, 2012, 03:06:12 AM
Will it work with Entel in Chile?
1755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica stolen coin returns on: May 22, 2012, 01:41:30 AM
the development of an alt-coin (double blinding signing) which makes such registries more such lunacy more difficult to implement.

Are you suggesting it is possible to combine eCash blinded signature with a decentralized blockchain, somehow? In other words, a fully anonymous p2p currency??
Please, explain a little more if that's the case. Perhaps open a new topic about it...

Yeah, it would be like magic. I mean Bitcoin is like magic sort of, but no double spending and no trail just seems like fairy tales. Obv I'm very interested if someone can explain how this could be possible.

Either it should be possible or possible to proof to be impossible. Either way this aspect as others said before on this thread is of ultimate importance to the overall success of bitcoin.

As much as I would love to see Bitcoins to be ultimately fungible, if I see somebody tries to buy my goods with 100% stolen coins, I will kick his ass and not accept these coins. If his coins are 1/1000th tainted, i would not start an argument. Still if MtGox officially takes these coins like they were only 999/1000, same would I to my customer.

I'm pretty sure that such measures will never make it into the protocol but likewise I'm sure that we will see clients capable of polling blacklists that at least tell the user a history of some of the coins he's about to receive.
1756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] New Animated Bitcoin Video! "Screw Banks" make it viral! on: May 22, 2012, 12:11:26 AM
Would it be possible to port the video to the webm format

yes
1757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Paper Notes idea on: May 21, 2012, 02:40:50 AM
For me green addresses are the easiest and most straight forward way to go. Also most brick and mortar situations would not be where scammers would risk to do a double spend as the time gap to get caught is too small.
What if I send your money somewhere else and claim I never got it because you did a double-spend?
What if somebody else gets a glimp on the QR before the clerk's scanner does?
I don't see why private keys should be printed other than for very cold storage.

Has anyone have had a chance to test the QR codes?

has anyone received .1BTC? Just sent to your 1cam4btc via Bitcoin Spinner.

2) ATM Chat is peer2peer like streaming and you can only only get messages if you are connected while they arrive. I could move it to server side and buffer 10 messages there but at this point I'm not sure I want to.

if I get video and chat peer to peer where should there be a problem also getting a history peer to peer? I mean I would get the last 8 messages from somebody who also joined recently and maybe at the same time 10 messages from somebody else. giving messages a unique id to prevent them from popping up twice shouldn't be a big deal.
1760  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Camming Site on: May 20, 2012, 05:56:36 PM
you could also give 10 messages scroll back for new people joining?
