SHA-256 and Scrypt are so huge that a single large farm from there can abuse DGB easily.
Unfortunately this is currently true and is what we must overcome. That is why I questioned faith. You would need to believe that although your asic machine cost more in electricity to run than it mined in value of DigiByte it would one day be worth it. The problem with that is people would just think, that is stupid I can buy more DGB. You might even say if enough people were thinking like that then people would buy it and the price would move up. not enough people are buying it and round and round we go.

Only a single minded community has any real chance here.
and a single minded community is aligned through belief. This belief has to be generated and maintained by the devs. There isnt enough news from devs its one of their failings plain and simple. i like Jared but what does he do week in week out? Based on posts and lack of blog stuff the average person would be led to believe nothing...

Look up wolffire the game overgrowth. The devs are very active and its an indie project. Regular content rich updates, the fans love it. I can get on cryptsy chat and talk to netcoin devs. i even had one offer to make me a custom wallet for a feature i suggested for block splits. I dont need free stuff but i was impressed by their comms and attentiveness.

Need this here. Who's going to build services for DGB if they dont see dev comms and interaction? If this doesnt happen dgb is just another altcoin with low block time for trans and a 21 billion supply.

Without a doubt communication is critical and the past few weeks we have not been as communicative as we could of been. However, this does not mean by any measure we have been sitting ideally by. There is a lot underway for DigiByte right now.

The investment DGB has received has been used to maintain several aspects of the network as well as to develop privately held services built on the DGB network such as DigiByteTip (I can say there are other services under development as well right now). We are not going to disclose some of these projects, partnerships or advancements until they are ready. This is for multiple reasons.

First, we don't want to tip off the competition until the services are ready to take to market. Second, we don't want to fuel rampent speculation and pump and dumps. Finally, when you take on a private investment, it does come with a few a catches. But when such investment comes with the experience of individuals who are much more business savvy and have a proven track record of business success over the past few decades it is hard not to listen to the advice given. There also are legal ramifications for me publicly discussing some of these projects or discussing some of the meetings I have been in. I have personally signed multiple NDA's with multiple companies and obviously do not want to be held legally responsible for breaching these agreements.

To summarize, DigiByte is open source and will always be decentralized and open as a network. Anyone can build a privately held service upon top of DigiByte. This has already been done numerous times. Cryptsy, GiftOff, ShapeShift and many more have integrated DigiByte. Have any of them open sourced their code bases? No, why you ask? There would be a dozen copy cats that popped up over night. This is the reason we have not, nor will we open source DigiByteTip any time soon. This does not mean it wont happen at some point in the future. Mind you there have also been significant legal costs no one is aware of just to get DigiByteTip to where it is now. (Part of the reason for not actively marketing it yet.)

Without a doubt for me personally this is all a tough balancing act. On one side there is the open source network and all the other public services to go with it (all the wallets, DigiHash, website, explorer and more) and the the community at large who make all of it possible.

On the other side there is a private investment and a business to move forward. Obviously everyone here I consider to be an investor as well and I personally owe it to both sides to reach the best possible outcome so everyone comes out a head in the end and wins. And I believe this will happen and we are well on the way to making that a reality.

So far we have done a lot with the limited budget we have had compared to other companies in this space. Look at the investment ChangeTip has received as well as the $500,000 DogeTipBot has. Thats just one service. We are building multiple platforms and maintaining multiple services (6 node servers each month, digiexplorer, digihash, digibyte.co, digibytegaming, easyminer, ios wallet, android wallet, digibyte gaming wallet, all core wallets, a fully functional exchange we haven't launched to do crazy laws in the US, as well as a few other services we haven't released yet. I don't know anyone else in the crypto space to have provided all these aspects of a coins ecosystem from one source.

All in all things are moving forward and I am very excited for the future of DigiByte. This technology is here to stay and we are doing our best to position DigiByte the best we can to seize the opportunity when the time comes.

Thanks to everyone for your support, feedback and continued passion. There are some great conversations on here and now i'm going to go get to work on that video update.

Cheers,

Jared

Thanks Jared. This is what i'm talking about. You were able to show updates fine without going where you can't. You can say this week we worked on multiple projects and 1 is nearing completion. Are you able to list more of the dev team and people on the site so people can know more about them.

The projects that are out there i.e. the gaming wallet and digibyte tip you could have the dev teams report on their progress and query public for improvements etc. Its not just the hidden things people would like activity on but those already out there. The community would help where possible but needs an avenue where they can do this.

Thanks for the above post, I hope this such posts continue.

And therefore, reduced the supply and the problem is solved. People buy only ~500k DGBs per day. If enough people know DGB, the supply can be raised again.

Do not set yourselves under pressure by the large supply.

The life cycle is not a straight line or curve, you must regulate the market. On the other side are people and not machines. people needs a leader or rules. the coin-"evolution" this is not static process or algorithm. The largest part of the crypto-currencies is chaos, adjustments and rules are not bad!

The problem is NOT solved with reduced supply. You have less coins that are worth more. People either dump or the less coins mined by the auto sell miners are sold at a higher rate. Its an illusion reducing the supply.

More people invested and interested is the solution. This alone is a patch fix...... SERVICES, USE and development is the only way forward.

The miner integrated into the wallet will solve the auto dump issue in a way if more people adopt DGB and the wallet.

The services and use... well i'm shit out of ideas there. My gaming service was going to use DGB as the primary currency but I think for now i'll switch coins. Adoption on the service would mean i'd have to sell a portion to realise fiat for my weekly pay and hold the rest in hopes of it succeeding. Big risk at present. Not to mention if it drives price up through adoption I have to compete with auto miners which i'm not too keen on betting on.

Going to be honest here yet again. I was a big DGB supporter and held around 106 million DGB but i've dropped my investment by approximately 50%.

I pride myself on transparency and activity as being a factor in my investments. I still believe DGB has a lot of potential but i don't believe there is as much communication and progress to continue to keep my faith at the level it was. Also i find the news lacking... sites are nice gaming wallet nice etc but there isn't enough team and community interaction and briefing. Yes there are deals that can't be released etc but you can report in a round about way to show something is happening. Last i heard was a hard fork to match visa stuff etc and that was due a while ago... its been delayed but not much news on why and when we can expect it. I think the game needs to be stepped up and people kept informed.

The auto miners from mintsy and multipools dumping into dgb is one factor and without buy pressure from adoption its a losing battle. Lets face it. In all honesty we are all here to make money realised in either fiat or believe that DGB can and will be a micro payment device where we will get increased value from our initial investment in the form of goods.

Jared is a good person i believe and has a lot invested but i don't think at present there is enough being done to address the general public and investors individually, This may change but i encourage Jared to introduce his complete programming team and pr team and provide an avenue where they can converse with the public. I also would like to see some kind of regular blog posting or news casts that show whats happening week by week with DGB. Blind faith leads to destruction i've seen it many times in investments and regardless of what i want to believe its mind over heart in this game.

DGB is simply not adopted enough nor does it have the community following of a meme like doge to fight on sells. What it does have is dedicated devs and community but that alone isn't enough to raise the price.

I'll maintain my 60 million DGB investment for the next few months and see if the outlook changes. Please don't take this as a threat its more an open look at how i invest.
For now i've diverted my funds into netcoin. I encourage others to take a look at this.

Netcoin is a lot like DGB except its a POS coin with 100% APR interest until block 940,000 which is around this november and it halves. Netcoin has a twist on Proof of Stake (POS). Its not around having to tweek block sizes to compete... just put all your coins in 1 address and leave the wallet open. every 6 hours (4 times a day) you get a promised stake... after 14 days i can confirm this to be true. The interest rate i think starts at 20% and leads to 100% once you hit 10 million coins... it steps up from 0->10 million.

A nice coin.. if you are the type to keep your wallet closed thats fine too. When you open it you get the missed stake you are owed... you just don't get the compounding effect. Be nice though and leave it open to secure the network.

Diversification is the key to any investment portfolio and i ask you take a look at netcoin but make your own decision. Its sitting on around 330 satoshi at present which is still a good price. I invested and got in around 220-260 satoshi but its still a good price. 1 to 2 million is a nice target... it'll cost around i think 5-6 btc. Returns in time aren't too bad... better than bank interest. If you want more info pm me and i'll take it off topic and have a chat with you.

else google netcoin foundation and open comms in there forums. The devs are great. 0 premine and no foundation member holds more than 7 million coins. The total coin cap is 440.44 million at present i believe.

In the book called "DigiByte - History of the First Year" I would like to include personal statements from Jared and those most involved with DGB.  In the statement could you include the following:

  • How you discovered and got involved with DigiByte
  • Your most favourable and enjoyable event of DGB in the first year.
  • How you participated in DGB in the first year
  • Where do you see DGB progressing to in future?

Please send me a private message on here.

Chris

is this just devs or community as well you mean i.e. early adopters or large holders of dgb?

"Uncle Stu" is worth half a billion dollars. It's somewhat more than your $23.74 checking account. No mention of his business successes?

Pretty easy to be worth half a billion if you inherit it from your rich mommy. From what I can tell he goes flinging it around like a monkey tossing its own excrement. I don't see much in the way of "business successes" on his resume, only stupid failures.

Mr Ganza should of just scammed uncle stu.... lots more money there and no jail time. Uncle stu would be too embarrassed to tell others he got scammed by the hashking and would just write it off as a 10 million dollar shits and giggles expense.

Maybe he is, but he still might follow you on your way to prison. Bernie Madoff was richer than your uncle Stu, nonetheless all three of you will be soon playing clusterfuck game.

Garza shouldn't be sent to prison we could learn a lot from him as a unique specimen. We should put him in a laboratory and study him in his natural habitat. He seems to fook up every company he starts so by not repeating this business could move forward in leaps and bounds!

Perhaps we could set up a multipool that mines whatever and auto converts to Digibyte.

Yaamp just released there code so I wouldn't think it would be to hard.
https://github.com/globalzon/yaamp

It would create buy support which everyone wants and might
provide some stability.

Only works if you can outnumber the miners pushing dgb down to get profits... if you can't reverse it you feed them at a higher price if you can reverse it you're giving them a higher price while you are selling lower value coins to do this. Best to let it take its natural course and go lower so you can buy if you believe in it.... else we need proper miners to provide real resistance.

What's the latest with this s**t storm?

Last thing I heard, Garza disappeared and created a new exchange called Mineral.

Mineral is the fastest growig cryptocorrency exchagne in the world!!

Mineral no scame
Only big profetss!

Its actually all bitpops fault... if bitcoin was viable Garza wouldn't have needed to make paycoin.
1753  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW / Josh Garza discussion Paycoin XPY CPIG BTCLend xpyerr.ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: July 08, 2015, 07:53:58 AM
Just another Bitgeek (was a paid shill).  Calm down people.
Yet your always continue.

Kaching!! Rile sam up and Homero steps out!!  Grin Grin

as I said before - I doubt Garza is ever coming back to a crypto forum he has no control of. I think samiam is probably one of us trying to bring in some entertainment until the next Garza season begins

Of course he will.... he likes attention and can't get enough of watching discussion about him. Sociopaths like him love it... good or bad publicity as long as someone is talking about him. As he can't control this forum he'll come under other names e.g. SamIam666 and do all he can to comment and troll without admitting its him.

Hashtalk served its purpose and the only reason it went offline was because
a) the real supporters in the community had dwindled to next to nothing and
b) he wasn't making income to support his paid shills to moderate and post good comments on his forum to drown the negativity out

The place got too hard to handle and Garza as we all know is technologically retarded.... i'd actually be surprised if he could install windows on a computer let alone run a forum.
1754  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW / Josh Garza discussion Paycoin XPY CPIG BTCLend xpyerr.ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: July 08, 2015, 06:02:26 AM
perhaps you'll grasp the meaning this time, your question merits no response.
This does not stand to logic or reason, but I guess seeing as how you are defending Homero Joshua Garza's fraudulent enterprise, you are woefully lacking either trait.

Coward.

It does stand to logic and reason... Garza has always used twisted reasoning and logic when replying its a word game. Samiam666 believes Garza to be innocent and believes that any response will yield no support to him so therefore the question merits no response is correct in his twisted world. He sees no merit in providing a response. Basically he's toying with you, just trying to be smart about it.

The question I have for you is do we need samiam666 to actually answer any such questions as no response would actually benefit anything. Its like trying to get a serial cheater/pathological liar to admit wrong. You both know they are but they won't do it... its in their nature.

Months ago when all this started Garza responded in AMA'ing on the forum here and avoided the big questions and twisted where he could because there was benefit in keeping the scam under control. Once it spiralled out of control even the hashtards as recently as a month and a half ago realised everything said here was true. There are no more believers like the hard core mods on their forum... even they have opened their eyes.

If you really want to get something out of samiam666 then play the troll game back to shit talk but that's all you'll get for giggles. Best to redirect the topic back on important things and ignore those posts... the aim is to make these pages more and more broken down in content.

If we really want the next stage to go forward we need to direct efforts onto ol uncle stuart, the current foundation and other such direct supporters of Garza that lied. Joe Mordica should be a valid target as even though he was wronged he did a lot of the wronging on others and seems to have slithered off somewhere under a rock.
1755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ $250k Investment, EasyMiner, on: July 08, 2015, 05:40:34 AM
Just stop quoting Barabbas theres no need to feed the negativity. I'm fine with negativity if its warranted and thinking / proof to be concerned is provided but honestly if its just pure negative attacks it holds no more worth than stuff that's like I think DGB or BITCOIN will hit 500,000$. With that out of the way a few things I've noticed recently from talking to people on cryptsy and other locations.

Many multipools like hampster pool, mintsy etc are doing auto mining cash out to btc. This is why the cryptsy price is dropping. Digibyte is a relatively easy coin to mine with large enough rewards. Honestly if we didn't have the buy support slowly fighting it we'd be under 10 satoshi. Hamster pool closes at the end of this month so we'll see a little bit of relaxing on this.

Some focus needs to go to digibyte use to give it utility or it'll continue to decline to the point its not feasible to mine and they will point at other coins until it rises in price again... that or they'll accumulate and dump in when it rises to a specified level.

For now if you have some satoshi's id buy digibyte. It should be valued today at at least dogecoins level. Dogecoin has a lot more coins like 100 billion isn't it? so that's 5 times digibytes final amount or 25 times its current coin generation. It should be around 100 satoshi now. If you buy in now i'd expect you to triple your investment in the next year. Pumping 3-5btc in can only be a win as come the btc halving that is some nice returns. As always trade on your own thoughts and don't invest more than you can afford to lose.

Solutions
-------------
I still think that a miner should be integrated into the wallet. Digibyte being POW needs to put more pressure on the mining consolidation... few people are mining a lot of it and selling. The competition doesn't exist for it yet and this is why its targeted a lot. If a miner was built into the wallet and set to auto run on open and use by default 20% of the cpu then this will increase the mining hashrate, secure the network, reduce the sell pressure AND hopefully give it more interest from the public.

A POW coin NEEDS miners and more of them. This is in the digibyte development groups interest.... you point the miner in the wallet at the developer pool and you get a 3% or whatever it is cut for dev fees. So in this respect you can grow digibyte dev while assisting the coins growth.... i'm not sure why this suggestion isn't being acknowledged and given thought to implementation.
1756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ $250k Investment, EasyMiner, on: July 08, 2015, 05:13:22 AM
Seriously? People are questioning Jared? Man, I don't even know if there are more honest people in crypto than him.
And what 's the point of buying up a coin with the investment? I don't think that's the purpose of an investment....

I think questioning is good in this community and it should be encouraged... devs should respond to such questions as it gives as active appearance and faith for the community and builds a strong base and price.

To not agree with this means that you pretty much blindly follow and you end up with another paycoin / Joshua Garza which crypto doesn't need. Jared should be addressing these concerns in the forum topic as part of his daily schedule. There is only this topic and the digibyte forum. For him to reply and reassure people would only take 30 mins of his day for this topic. I encourage Jared to do this. Digibyte growth is dependant on its customer base which means the devs should take the time to address these investors queries.

Its not about attacking Jared its merely about opening the channel so the public can address and converse with him direct. Its a little lacking at present (sorry but i'm just being honest). Communication channels that happen between specific members of the public and the dev lead to a closed system where people suspect things aren't always right. Be out and open and reply to all queries from all people direct.

Just my 2 digibytes.

i miss garza errr ..... i mean samiam666. Come back and play with us please....?

You can do an ask me anything and lie through your teeth like the good old days and add a smirky grin to it.

I'll start with some possible questions for your ask me anything.

1. How has the transition from 5 star restaurants to spam and 2 minute noodles gone?
2. What kind of car do you drive today?
3. Have you picked any names out yet for your unborn illegitimate child yet? If so could you let us in on a few?
4. How was the 4th of July? Did uncle stuart fraser visit? Did he come in the tesla elon musk gifted you? Has this upset elon musk that you gave away such a personal gift from him?

Anyone else want to add some more questions for his next ask me anything?

what kind of man throws accusations with no evidence? NO MAN! You have collectively destroyed many lives. Was that your intent? Is that your purpose in life? Because you live a miserable existence you feel the need to do the same to others?

Please refer to the Mississippi Power lawsuit linked above. Did you happen to collect "maintenance" fees from your customers and forgot to pay the power bill? Then switched customers' miners off and sold them? Or is there is some other explanation of all this that somehow makes sense? Please enlighten us. We'll move on to Paycoin next.

What Garza actually had miners going? I thought they were all unplugged and just for show. I thought the power bill was for his huge screen tv that he bought with hashtard funds.

The 350k power bill indicates that there was at least a massive power consumption. So I think there was some mining at the beginning

Wasn't most of that bill a contract for the installation of a transformer for the equipment (which I believe wasn't even sufficient for the equipment).  Doesn't mean he actually powered that many miners.

Maybe a high horsepower vibrator?
