1781  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 1Th/s solo mining... worth it? on: February 26, 2015, 01:26:47 AM
Not concidering difficulty changes and next years block reward halving it would take you an average of approx. 8 years to find 1 block.
Oh, you never know that. It can take 8 days or 8 weeks too.
1782  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Upgrade Antminer s5 fan for cooling? on: February 26, 2015, 01:25:45 AM
can anyone recommend a fan that can replace the stock fan on the S5 to further increase cooling? Is the stock fan the best option available?
Absolutely not the best option.

You can try this non-expensive but good enough fan: Gembird DC120SF-12AS3 (120x120x38 mm, 3000 rpm, 124.74 CFM).

If in your certain environment where your S5(s) is(are) placed the air temperature is not low enough, you can try two of them in push-pull configuration, because even two of them are significantly quieter then the stock fan.

I'm wondering how many people else will post here a link to review by dogie?..  Undecided

liteguardian.com

Liteguardian.com - A 2% PPS Litecoin Mining Pool.  Undecided

One man called dogie has.  Wink

http://www.dogiecoin.com/bitcrane-t-110.html

But really, why do you want to get Bitcrane?.. Some day soon there will be (should be) released new miner by Bitmain, wait for it... It definetely will be twice more efficient...
1787  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Strato's Antminer S5 Vertical Mounting Setup Guide - OC with Less Heat on: February 24, 2015, 03:39:23 AM
I would very much find out what the CFM is for the stock fan of the S5, and while all the great minds are assembled here, possibly the same answer to the stock fan of the A S4.

It's about 140 CFMWink
1788  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: antminer s4 fan on: February 23, 2015, 09:21:51 AM
Do you really want the same fan? What about another 120 mm fans?
1789  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: a freestyle review by Rabinovitch on: February 23, 2015, 05:26:14 AM
Danke vielmals / spasibo for your most excellent thread.
Are you certain that these stock fans are 105 CFM?
The 3 howling banshees in my basement are between 72 - 78db with the stock fans and NEVER EVER seem to go at less than 3800 rpm (not overclocked either, all is stock) at a temp of about 48 - 52C.

Hi! Glad to see your post here!  Wink

That was a reply to this post. There is the stock fan coming with S5 on the photo. It's about 140 CFM. As for the Navipower HDB-1212UA fans - they seems to be 105 CFM. But now my choice is cheap but effective fan Gembird DC120SF-12AS3 (you can see here the results of using it). Even two of them since I moved the S5 from living room to another place where the noise is not the problem.

I don't understand why a scythe rated at 133cfm is not sufficient for cooling as some users have claimed in other threads.
How has it been believed by them that 133 CFM rated fan was not sufficient? May be the reason is unsufficient static pressure level?.. I don't know...

I expect some used Apple 4 pin Delta AFB1212HHE-F00 sometime this week, that are rated
2900 RPM 120.07 CFM  44 dBa and hope they will do a better and MUCH, MUCH less noisier job.

Yeah, they should.  Smiley

I'm also not as brave as you to run the miners at anything over 70C.

If the datasheet of BM1384 chips is correct, 70C temperature is not a problem. But sure in case of silicon-based circuits we should seek for lower temps... But the noise...
You know, in case of aluminum heatsinks it should look like in Avalon4 - less quantity of more solid fins (maybe narrowed to the ends).

In case of S5 we somewhy have high temps and high noise. It's inevitable.

Thank you for your courage, and I will be looking forward to your further documentations of your experiments. (are you giving the vertical orientation of the miners any consideration?)

How can it help, especially in case of not so appropriate heatsinks?.. I think that if you can place them in that way, vertically-oriented, it's better that horyzontal orientation, bot not so much better.  Roll Eyes

"Для людей"... Ваш "партнёр" адэвэ тоже для людей? 40 тыс за S5, 40 тыс за Avalon4 - харя не треснет?

а**еть вот это аттракцион невиданной щедрости, битман просто сосет в сторонке со своими 1850$ за 5750гигашекелей 3 кВТ потребления

Не забывайте, что здесь - с НДС и "таможенной очисткой".  Cool

Cheesy
1791  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: a freestyle review by Rabinovitch on: February 22, 2015, 03:48:57 AM
I am waiting for Arctic Silver thermal adhesive to arrive. Little radiators are already in hands so on 26.02 or 27.02 there will be some update.  Cool
1792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: February 22, 2015, 02:41:45 AM
So as tinypic.com.

Do anyone have an I/O board V1.4? I have two of them, v1.01 (from the left, with sticker on the beeper) and v1.4. v1.01 has 16pin connectors to connect hashing boards, v1.4 - 18 pin. How can I connect the cable which is also 16pin to not damage the hashing board?..

1793  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? on: February 20, 2015, 06:13:16 AM
Nearly 3 times.  The two that I have consume 1100-1200w for just over 1TH, so they're basically 1.1w/GH

Please keep in mind that chip's efficiency and power consumption of the whole S2 "at the wall" are different things.  Wink
1794  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? on: February 19, 2015, 10:23:08 AM
For 'native' S2 0.4 Wt/Gh means that efficiency has improved twice...
1795  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: February 19, 2015, 07:23:44 AM
Not the right place for trading...

I have replaced a PSU with Corsair RM1000 (80+ Gold). Now the power consumption at the wall is less (662-666 Wt), and HWE has been reduced twice (from 0.027% to 0.013%). It's all after 11 hours of running, will see what happen next.  Smiley

p.s. seems that after "halt" command the power consumption is about 150 Wt...
1797  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Low power chips WANTED!!! 0.3 W/Ghs or around. Ideal miner design for exchange on: February 18, 2015, 11:44:19 AM
waiting for the announcement of the price.

I'm wondering what if I buy another (couple?) S2(s) for the purpose of upgrade... Will Bitmain play the fool with us again like they did before?..
1798  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Sha256 miner with best hash to power ratio. on: February 18, 2015, 09:35:30 AM
What about Avalon 4.1? Looks to be a good miner also.
