According to my understanding, having alt accounts for your personal use is allowed.
What is meant by having alt accounts for personal use. Do people have alt accounts for general or public use? Please clarify...

What I meant was to have an alt account to participate in specific discussions anonymously (maybe you're shy about a particular topic and don't want to expose your main account, as theymos mentioned somewhere) or to play around with a different persona (harmless fun, as long as it's within forum rules), or use alt accounts to access from different devices (for example a "mobile" account, as some members have).
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monitoring sequence of btc transactions on: March 27, 2024, 08:26:00 PM
Me and my partner want to engage in a sequence of Bitcoin transactions. The first transaction involves me sending $400 in BTC, and the second transaction involves my partner sending me $900 in BTC.
<...>

That offer in itself sounds too good to be true, so you have to ask yourself, what's the catch? Are there any other actions or requirements between these transactions? Or do you really expect someone to send you $900 in return for your $400?

As others have already suggested, your best option is to use trusted escrow.
183  Other / Meta / Re: Alts vs farm. on: March 27, 2024, 08:08:19 PM
According to my understanding, having alt accounts for your personal use is allowed. And this is acceptable by the community as long as there is no form of abuse, such as merit abuse, bounty or contest cheating, and so on.

Alt account farming is a process of creating and using multiple accounts in a forum to gain an advantage that wouldn't be possible with a single account. This advantage can come in many forms, like using them in forum contests, manipulating polls, or cheating in bounties. Account farming was likely more popular before the merit system, as forum ranks were solely based on activity back then. This ultimately led to the reselling of alt accounts to third parties for participation in signature campaigns.
184  Other / Archival / Re: Play in game and earn money|Wolfenstein 3D on: March 26, 2024, 08:04:29 PM
I get what you're going for - using our computers to mine some MintMe coins for you guys in the background as players game.  But you'd only give a small fraction of those coins back to players as a reward? Not sure what would make them wanna play on your platform then.  Maybe think about upping the payout to get them interested? and  just seems trickier to attract an audience with the current model I guess.
185  Other / Politics & Society / Re: National Guard to be deployed on April 8 during Solar Eclipse on: March 26, 2024, 07:41:27 PM
So what exactly is going to happen on April 8 that they need to deploy the National Guard? It looks like something is going to happen.

Why do you think something extraordinary will happen? From what I read, theyre just there to control crowds and handle emergencies if needed and  it's about dealing with all the people coming to see it, not coverin' something up.  I'd say grab some eclipse glasses, kick back and enjoy the show.  No need to stress something cosmic.
186  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who can you trust more to handle your business, man or woman? on: March 26, 2024, 06:36:42 PM
* If you intend to start your business or you already do and are looking for the best candidate to fill the top management position, would you trust a man or a woman to handle the affairs of the business?

What's the difference? What matters is experience and skillset, not gender.

* What reasons would you suggest are right, for picking and trusting a particular gender to handle a top management position of your business?

Get real. Unless you're stuck in the dark ages with archaic religious rules, gender discrimination is a relic of the past. There's no reason to consider gender selection when choosing a candidate, unless a physical advantage is required for the specific function.
187  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Spot Trading on: March 23, 2024, 09:51:20 PM
What is the minimum amount to start trading in the coinbase spot trading? where I can find that info? and what are the differences of using coinbase regards other exchanges to do spot trading?

As far as I know. Coinbase doesn't have some blanket minimum for everything you can trade.  It kinda varies based on the actual currencies you're exchanging.

The best way to check is to log in to your Coinbase account and navigate to the trade section. Select the trading pair you're interested in, and the platform will display a minimum order value requirement before you try to place a trade.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Feelings on losing the match and the bet on: March 23, 2024, 09:36:28 PM
Do you feel sad when your favorite team loses a match and the bet (if you had placed a bet on that match)?

Of course I feel sad if my favorite team loses, especially if I placed some bets on them. But here's the thing, my friend: gambling carries risk.  It's not all fun and happy dances.

Losing money on your beloved team bites hard.  Particularly when anticipation ran high for a major match and you figured their victory was in the bag.  Still, you've gotta draw a line dividing your love for the team from gambling.  Flukes occur, and occasionally the superior squad takes an L.  Thats sports!  But grousing about a soured bet when you willingly rolled the dice? Come on now.
189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: March 23, 2024, 08:58:04 PM
The Eurovision contest is heating up as we get closer to the big event.  Croatia has been the frontrunner for a few weeks now.

Ukraine is putting up a good fight for the top though.  They are currently sitting in second place, but the gap between them and Croatia seems to be growing bit by bit.  The bookies handicapping the contest think Croatia has it just about locked up at this point - they are offering really favorable odds, like 3-4 to 1 for them to win it all and  ukraine's odds of pulling off their fourth Eurovision victory are getting longer, now between 5-7 to 1.

It will be fun to see how it all shakes out! Croatia's entry is catchy but Ukraine has some powerful vocals on their side.  Either one could end up the victor when the final votes are counted.

190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: March 23, 2024, 08:38:03 PM
I see that many people tell their stories about how they stole money from their parents, unfortunately, I also had one time where I stole some money from my stepfather.
Maybe I wasn’t the only one that stole money from my parent when I was still small, I never took money from my father, but I always steal from my mother, but I don’t gamble with the money, I didn’t know about gambling early, am sure if I did, i will have been wasting money on gambling, but I was spending the money which I stole from my mother lavishly with my friends, but I got to a level which I knew what I was doing was completely wrong, and I just have to stop the crazy behavior. I stared gambling when I was admitted into the university, I was already matured then, and I knew what was bad for me, so I gambled just with little amount, I never gambled beyond my limit.

We've all screwed up in our younger years.  I did some dumb stuff I regret too.  Swiping cash from your mom definitely wasn't okay, even as a kid.  Kudos for recognizing that and quitting.  I don't recall ever stealing from my folks directly.  But I fabricated random fees for stuff at school a few times to pocket some extra dough and  spent it on useless crap.  We live and learn.  At least you realized your mistake early on.  Many dont until it's too late.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your take? on: March 23, 2024, 08:14:45 PM
What's even the point of tossing a bunch of money on something that's pretty much a sure thing, when the payout can barely cover a small cup of coffee? I don't say you gotta go all in on some wild longshot, but if youre gonna try your luck, take a bit of a chance instead of playing it safe with pathetic returns.  Do some homework first scout out places where the odds are good but still interesting, then lay some bills down.  No guts, no glory as my grandpappy used to tell me before he lost the farm.  Wink

Anyway, point is liven things up if you really wanna make bank.  Careful though, don't get too crazy chasing the thrill. What I personally like is try building a parlay with smaller wagers on different games. It forces me to actually analyze multiple matchups, not just pick the "safe" option.
192  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Recommended wallets on bitcoin.org on: March 22, 2024, 10:49:16 PM
2- On what basis are the 8 hardware wallets recommended on this site?

Bitcoin. org has this process written out on GitHub for how they check out wallets before recommending them.  You can view it here: https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/Bitcoin.org/blob/master/docs/managing-wallets.md

Basically, anyone can request that their hardware wallet be added.  But even if you do there's no guarantee it will actually get the recommendation in the end.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: in future are you hoping to see some countries in Africa legalis bitcoin. on: March 22, 2024, 09:11:50 PM
The Central African Republic legalized Bitcoin as legal tender back in 2022, If I'm not mistaken.  So currently, some other African countries may not have specific regulations around using and accepting Bitcoin, but it doesn't appear to be illegal.  Typically if there are legal gaps where Bitcoin is not officially regulated that means it falls into a gray area, but I'd argue that with no explicit bans in place, Bitcoin use remains completely legal.
194  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit locked/pending withdrawals on: March 22, 2024, 08:50:57 PM
Only weird that everything kept working fine for me? How is it possible that I can use the site without having any issues from a stricted country? I never used a VPN or anything  I was just in Belgium. They have to see this on their geo blocks?

I can't say for sure if Rollbit blocks users from Belgium or not.  Maybe someone else from Belgium who tries to access Rollbit could confirm.  I tried using my VPN to get a Belgian IP address to check the Rollbit site, and it did seem they blocked me.  Now IP blocking doesn't always work perfectly.  There's like a ton of different internet companies everywhere, so maybe Rollbits geoblocker thing doesn't catch them all.
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: March 22, 2024, 07:16:12 PM
So where's the fun when you lose your money?

We all know the risks, right? - losing money, time slipping away, even neglecting stuff we should be doing. But hey, maybe we'll hit the jackpot and end up with a nice chunk of change in our pockets! High risk, high reward, that's how it goes.

Some people really get into the strategy and challenge behind betting - for them, it's like a kind of game where the enjoyment comes from playing, not just the end result.  Win or lose. It's like with any hobby - for some folks, half the fun is in the process itself.  On the other hand, I only really have fun when I've got bonus cash or something to play with.  If my own money's on the line, especially any serious chunk of change ain't no fun anymore.  But I know some folks enjoy the strategy, the challenge of figuring the odds and trying to beat them.  Hey, different strokes and all.
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A weird interview on: March 22, 2024, 06:46:28 PM
Your passion for Bitcoin might've seemed a bit odd when you brought it up in the interview.  But I don't actually think its that weird to wonder about Bitcoin's future potential.  A lot can change in 10 years! I just think innovations like blockchain and digital currencies are fascinating.  Even if Bitcoin doesn't replace traditional money, the technology behind it could still transform finance and business one day. Just imagine, ten years ago Bitcoin was unheard of by most people, used only by a handful of enthusiasts.

And who knows - maybe one day checking a currency's value will be as routine as checking the weather, or we won't have to check it at all.
197  Other / Meta / Re: Lock topic hider on: March 22, 2024, 11:26:17 AM
You can take a look at this script from NLNico: Ignore threads - user script
Good find.
I didn't know about this user script, but it can be very useful, and I looked for something like this for a long time.
Just installed the script and it is behaving in similar way like when you ignore member, all his topics look almost the same as hidden boards with this script.
Maybe someone can fork it and make some changes, I would like to see option to totally hide boards.

I quickly looked at the source code of the script, it's actually very simple.

Open the "Ignore threads" script in the Tampermonkey editor. Go to the last line (below '// Style') and add this in a new line:
Code:
$('body').append("<style>.ignored_topic{display:none;}</style>");

This should hide the entire ignored topic line. I tested in Firefox browser, and it works.

The only drawback is that the "+" button, which previously allowed you to unignore the thread, is now hidden.  The only way to restore the thread is to click on "IGNORED THREADS" in the main menu and manually remove the topic ID from the list.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Connect Wallet" must go on: March 21, 2024, 10:47:49 PM
I get what you're trying to do here - make using wallets and dApps less of a headache for regular folks.  Believe me, I feel that pain too - switching networks, approving stuff, dealing with browser extensions.  It ain't fun.

But I gotta say your solution seems to cause as many issues as it solves. Replacing decentralized apps with some centralized system users gotta log into? That smells fishy to me.  Ain't the whole point of crypto and web3 to get away from needing to trust servers and middlemen?

Sure, it might make life easier if some. But easier aint always better.
199  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit locked/pending withdrawals on: March 21, 2024, 10:31:26 PM
Anyone had the same issue or knows a way to resolve this?
Did you try talking with someone from Rollbit administration in bitcointalk forum?
I dont know who is responsible for that now as member Rollbitcom is not active since February, but they have active promotion here so I am sure there is someone.

Razer is still active on the forum from time to time. He was active a few days ago, and I assume he is reading private messages.

Looks like Razer came back to the forum today, I see activity on his profile. Hopefully he has seen this thread and will offer some explanation and support.
200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which is the best betting site for sports betting ?? on: March 21, 2024, 09:54:40 PM
Please suggest me some websites for sports betting.

Deciding on the right sports betting site takes some legwork.  You gotta look around, check out which ones cover the sports and games you wanna put money on.  Also check out what kind of deals they offer to get you in the door.  Sign-up bonuses, free bets, that kinda thing.

I'm sure Rollbit has already been mentioned, but I wanted to second that recommendation.  This online casino and sportsbook offers a nice range of betting options across various sports and events and  the odds seem pretty solid too based on what I've seen.  Their rep Rollbit Razer actively engages in discussions on here as well, which is a major plus.  Hopefully this gives you something to think about as you weigh your options!
