1801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 09, 2023, 10:27:42 AM
I'm thinking of betting on the Denver Nuggets tomorrow with a spread of -9. What do you think? is it a good idea betting against a streaking LA Lakers. On paper, you can tell that Nuggets are very good at home and no one can stop Jokic, but can they cover that spread?
1802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 06, 2023, 02:59:43 PM
I'd also prefer sports on a serious note, though I don't gamble..
I see sports as an open game that's not determined by some programmed analysis; it's played by real people and you could easily wager on a club with the best form... meanwhile, slots and roulettes only gets to remitt winnings based on the percentage difference -- between their immediate gains and losses -- that's already programmed, so sometimes whatever you wager doesn't matter, as long as there isn't some percentage to engulf your games, then that's just a waste. Casinos are controlled.... I'd even wager as much in sport games that seems viable.

You can't enjoy gambling if you never try it.

I do sports betting and online casino as well but as a sports lover, I would say that sports betting is my preferred. I would tell you that, It was not I put money and then wait for the game to be over, but this is also considered as support to the team we want to win without minding the money we gamble. Because for me, it was more than gambling.

Choose the best place that you think you are a fan of. We are just entertaining ourselves after a stressful life.
1803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people store their cryptocurrency on exchanges? on: January 06, 2023, 01:46:05 PM
They have a valid reason I think why they keep using an exchange wallet. I don't think they are deaf not to hear or blind not to see that many exchanges closed and never give send back the money to the holders. We can expect their argument is strong and they will stand for it until they will realized and become a victim.

People keep their coins on the exchange because they think that the coins can increase over a certain period,
~
Many exchanges are promoting staking which encourage holders to keep their coins remain on the exchange than moving them safely to their offline wallets. Well, that sounds reasonable to them but for those who prioritize their safety over earning a few bucks and risking their coins, it was not really a good decision.
1804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it advisable to memorize seed phrase? on: January 06, 2023, 01:04:40 PM
Well, if you think that you can memorize them for many years, then why not? Perhaps, it was you who would know what is best for you but for me, and for some circumstances and the busy life I have, I couldn't make it for sure. I was still good at writing them on paper than keeping them on my computer. Besides, even doing that couldn't assure that we are totally safe from hackers. We can simply set aside that there are so many ways we lose control of our wallet and we remember that a single mistake could lead to hacking incidents - accessing phishing sites, or malware attacks.
1805  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Short term trading and scalping on: January 06, 2023, 10:38:30 AM
I've been bearish the last week or so, looking at the orderbooks primarily to show me where the whales want to push the price. Sometimes it could be spoofing, other times it can be legit selling or buying. Combining different exchange liquidity can help to give an overall picture. Here is my analysis on youtube should you wish to see it -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPdumALVaQk
Scalping is really hard and I see it was not a profitable strategy in a volatile coin like BTC. I see a lot of market analysis, in fact, I have mine but most of the time I fail to be on perfect timing, and usually, I lose. If we only use Bitcoin for trading, scalping is not good but I see it was effective for altcoins where whales have so much participation.

Scalping can be done when we have a lot of time to spend on the computer but for those who have limited time, short-term trading could be the best choice. Both of them are profitable (or even not) as it will depend on the traders.
1806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from BONK on: January 06, 2023, 09:57:03 AM
If you follow crypto news, you might be aware about solana dog shitcoin called "BONK" is up 900% the past week . If you are thinking to invest in this coin, let me share an important fact regarding this coin. The top 20 holders 50% of the coin.

You can yourself check this here
https://solscan.io/token/DezXAZ8z7PnrnRJjz3wXBoRgixCa6xjnB7YaB1pPB263#holders
Good detection OP and doubt that this project has no way to stay longer in the market but a collapse and scam. This will ruin the image of Solana totally and meme coins can't really be trusted. Just to imagine that only 20 holders owe a huge amount of this coin, that is obviously price manipulation. Yes, it is indeed to stay away from this project.
Quote
So, it is obvious that they will eventually dump it. Those who are investing seeing the dramtic increase in prices will loose all their investment when it dumps.
It is certainly possible and based on my experience, most of the hyped projects will never stay high for a long time but it drops drastically bringing losses to the investors.
1807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 06, 2023, 07:33:30 AM
Yes, as long as this organization is still in control of the belts and not the boxers themselves, they can issue their mandatory fight and title eliminators so that only the best  boxers can get their belts.

But the problem is when the boxer held more than one belt, each one has it's own mandatory so he has to go about everyone. But sometimes schedule are not permitted so he either vacate some of the belts that he had. Another good example is Josh Taylor who vacated 3 already and retain one for his fight with Jack Catterall.

Each system has its own advantages and demerits. The boxing administration is fractured at this point, and we have 4 different world championship groups as a result - World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC). The dream of every boxer is to unify the belts, but in some cases (example is that of Josh Taylor that you have mentioned) it becomes impossible to do so. But still, the current system is better than media tycoons such as Al Haymon or Bob Arum dictating who should fight whom.

Exactly, but is there a chance that they will change that system to fully satisfy the fans? I think why boxing is here because it's not only for entertainment but also for us to see and to know who the real warriors are, and the only way we can see who is the best among the best is the unification and undisputed fight.
1808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: January 06, 2023, 06:43:59 AM
IMO, Canelo should focus on fighting John Ryder first, and after that he should fight the winner of the Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez match.

That would be an easy fight for Canelo because John Ryder is not an undefeated boxer. Well, actually both easy especially if Caleb Plant will win on this fight but of course, we doubt that because Benavidez is such a great fighter, it might even end up in a one sided beat down win by Benavidez.
1809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Dev is not your friend, so be careful. on: January 05, 2023, 09:56:41 PM
All we have to know is that there is one goal for why devs are here and creating new projects, and that is to generate money. They don't care too much about how this project could help the crypto world grow and appreciate but what is in their mind is to make money from innocent people who come. They don't mind if the project will fail and turn scam in the end because it was not their goal in the first place. It finds really disappointing but it was really happening now, unlike before when crypto is just started.
1810  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is hodling top 10 Marketcap coins a good tactic? on: January 05, 2023, 02:33:27 PM
I wouldn't say that it is a good tactic, but it is not worse than some other things I have seen before neither. If we remove all the stablecoins, and use all the remainder as top 10, then it should be a good enough tactic compared to most other people.
For me, it was not just a good tactic but I see the safety of having them, especially during the bear season.
In fact, many people diversify their portfolios, selling their altcoins, and then buying Bitcoin. It was an indication that only Bitcoin can be trusted in the most difficult time.
Quote
I understand that not many people could do it because there will be periods when they will drop out of top 10, many coins dropped out of top 10 so far but they still went up during bull market so it wouldn't be "too bad", still not good enough of course, because they won't be the best profit makers. However, considering people who invest into shitcoins and memetokens then it looks like it is even better than expected.
If we just aim for long-term investment, having Bitcoin and ETH is really a good choice. Besides, they are the known projects that consistently recover and pump during the bull season. Therefore, we have nothing to do but just wait for the perfect time to sell them, unlike with the shitcoins/meme coins where the risk is too high.

Game 4 betting odds are out now.

Ginebra bettors, another chance to bet with good odds.
I think Nicholson won't be able to play, so Powell will have to replace and let's see if he would be able to take revenge for his team.
1812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 05, 2023, 11:46:23 AM

So we are in a different era right now that as Luka said, it's easy to score in the NBA. And we can add to the sports medicine and trainings too has progressed in the last 20 years. A lot has really contributed why we are now seeing players scoring 40 points and higher per night.

Let's just appreciate how they play right now and so far, this is the most surprising season we had in the last 10 years because of how the star players in the teams turning their games into something historical play. With them being consistent in making their shots to score more than 50 points, they are about to surpass some great records this season and they are a few more points to be in the second but Kobe's still the best one after Wilt's 100.
Because nowadays they are more focus on 3 point shots, and the games are in a fast pace mode. Look at the scoring, most of the teams combine can easily score 220 points, before I think some teams even struggle to reach 200 points.

Do you guys think Victor Wembanyama can be the next Wilt Chamberlain? let's see if he gonna score more points in his first-season debut in the NBA.
What team do you think would sign him? is he gonna play next season?
1813  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tutored or you learned how to trade? on: January 05, 2023, 08:59:56 AM
When I started trading, I didn't have anybody to put me through, so I learn how to trade myself, i watched lots of videos on YouTube before I could place my first order for the coin I bought, from the first coin that I brought, I lost some money, It was my first trade and I was also expecting things like that to happen, frequently I kept on trying it and I was losing money, I was losing money because I was scared, immediately the price of the coin I bought drop a little, I always panic and sell at lost, after lot's of trial, I started understanding the way it works and the amount I was losing was reducing.
Traders often lose their money on their first try, why?
Because they don't have;
 -courage
 - knowledge
 - uncontrolled emotions

But all the failures and losses we have are eventually changing our view towards trading and making us more courageous to learn more and correct our mistakes in the past. In fact, nobody becomes a pro-trader without suffering difficulties, all traders had encountered such things until we succeed.

1814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: January 05, 2023, 07:31:06 AM
When a wife knows the private keys/seed phrase and she knows how to use it, she possibly misuses it. It is riskier for our investment, especially for a long term investment. However, she is a wife, we should marry someone that we trust very very well. We know how we trust a wife more than other people. So, I don't think nothing wrong to share it to the wife as long as we can trust her and he can understand how to keep it secretly. When we are married, a wife is the closest person in our life. Why we don't trust her?  Undecided

No, it was not the thing I thought about telling our wife about our keys/seed phrase. We did this for better communication and trust in each other and to tell the risk of misusing the keys and being careless to them it will lead to losing our money. In fact, we did share this because we want our wife to know the do's and don'ts when investing and keeping crypto in our wallets. That is why before making a decision about this we make sure that person (husband or wife) can really be trusted otherwise, we never do that and keep it secrete.
1815  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies do not be fooled by developers on: January 04, 2023, 10:24:42 PM
I have read series of posts advising us to do our research very well before investing in any project but as newbie, most of us don't even know what to research. What are we to look into before getting to know if a project is cool or scam?
The help needed by the cryptocurrency newbies is not to be caution but how to be cautious of what to invest into.
I've got your point dear. Actually, it was really hard to spot a project if it was a scam or legit because some developers are too clever and really doing their best to hide their real intention. But for a newbie like you, it was the best option to invest in old projects while you are still learning crypto. Don't make your life too hard but rather make it easy by choosing reputable coins which most investors had chosen.
OP is right, scam mostly happens to new projects. So, why we should try them in the first place if we know that most of them are scams?

1816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 04, 2023, 12:35:32 PM
Just got home and watched the game, last 5 minutes in the 4th quarter, and the Dragons are leading by just a few points 5.

Time for Ginebra to bounce back, and with the help of the crowd, there's a huge chance that they will win the last quarter and probably win the game as well. Goo luck Ginebra fans and Ginebra bettors, this is our last push.
The crowd is always with the Gins and that's for sure the majority of them are cheering for their victory. Well, the attendance for game 3 is 15,004.

Just an update: 2:03 time left and score 79-79.

I knew it, they came back in the 4th quarter and won big in game 3. Now the series is in favor of Ginebra, it's 2-1. Thanks to the tip shot of Thompson and the clutch 3 point shot of Tenorio. Also, it's sad to see that Nicholson has been injured in the game, looks like it was a serious injury, hopefully he can still play in game 4.

The Never Say Die attitude was witnessed again, the crowd played a vital role on that huge come back by Ginebra. Good thing Japeth did not play in the last minutes, otherwise it might ruin their come back, C.Stand, Malonzo, Brownlee, Thompson and Tenorio really did a perfect job in few minutes left in the game.
1817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 04, 2023, 11:59:02 AM
I simply don't know if Jazz are awful or if Kings are good this season.... because Jazz had a phenomenal start of season by going in 1st place and having a massive winning streak and since then , they are in free falling that seems it won't stop soon. Then , we have Kings who have been at the bottom of NBA for quite some years now but since they got Sabonis , the entire team kinda changed and I don't see them missing the play-offs anymore and this can be a massive boost in moral for this team but also for the city and fans. Cool
They are just not lucky, sometimes a team have that kind of bad losing streak. However, if you look closely on the previous games of the Jazz, their losses are very close, so that means they are still very competitive, they just fall short in the last quarter, maybe lack of good execution, that's something they need to improve.
1818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Are You Preparing For 2023? on: January 04, 2023, 07:02:02 AM
I guess accumulation is the way to go, there's nothing much we can do for 2023 anyway, we still don't know if this gonna be great year, even though i might've lost quite the money in this current bearish, I'd still like to make up for it, maybe in 2023 it's gonna be year full of bullish and good fortunes.
Yes, it was really hard to speculate what will happen this year because of many factors that could affect the price momentum;
 - war (Russia and Ukraine)
 - economic crisis
 - market inflation
 - the ongoing fight against Covid-19

As long as they still exist, it was hard to put back the market on the rally. I would say that 2023 might not be a good year for crypto but, of course, I hope for something new to see in the market, not just red colors and negative news.
1819  Economy / Economics / Re: Every passing year seems progressively worse on: January 04, 2023, 06:23:13 AM
I really felt it, it was not only in our economy but we are also struggling with climate change and many of our countrymen had suffered the terrible impact of the changes.
People are busy inventing new projects, new technology, etc in order to advance when it comes to economic growth. We see strong competition but on the other side, many people had suffered from it, and many people got starved and die from hunger. I don't want to expect the worse possible scenario in the future but I think, we have to prepare for it as it was been started already.
1820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can offline wallets ever be hacked? on: January 03, 2023, 09:43:22 PM
Well, nothing is 100% safe in crypto wallets because at the moment you use offline wallets and link to online wallets, hacks can possibly happen. If you want to keep it safe 100% then keep it offline forever but I don't think that really is going to happen.  But all I can say is that - hacking only happens to us when we are too careless, especially from clicking unknown links send to us via email or social media.
Quote
Ultimately, there is no one wallet solution that is 100% unhackable; however, hardware wallets coupled with extra security precautions, security features and best practices offer a strong solution.
