1821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you know when to sell on: March 05, 2020, 04:19:06 PM
Doing the exact opposite of what your emotions are telling you to do usually pays off nicely.

A more foolproof way is settling on a figure that you're happy with and sticking to it rigidly no matter what when the figure arrives. The chances are extremely high that you'll ignore it, but that means perhaps it wasn't the right figure in the first place.

I have a few alts that have been sitting around for years. They've soared and plunged. I'm fucking bored of them now so the moment they reach the level I want they'll be gone. I'll be past caring if they rise further. There's no emotion attached to them any more. They made me wait long enough and I want out and I won't look back.
1822  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-03-05] This Utility Heats New York State—And Mines Its Own Bitcoin on: March 05, 2020, 02:45:09 PM
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-05/this-utility-heats-new-york-state-and-mines-its-own-bitcoin

I wonder whether something like this will become more prevalent. There may come a time where miners are pushed out by the power companies themselves, or be contracted by them to take up residence in a back room.
1823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2 Chinese charged with laundering money from exchange hack on: March 05, 2020, 01:54:59 PM
Interesting. As far as I know this is the first time anyone's mentioned North Korea's methods. I often wondered how they turned their hacks into money they could use. Seems a bit amateurish to me but if it gets the job done then so be it.

This happening has been postponed until a later date due to that cheeky disease running riot. That's a shame but a wise move. It might be a fair bit fruitier by the time it was due to happen.

1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin Gets Centralized Through Massive Mergers on: March 04, 2020, 07:02:27 PM
Steem's users are doing something about it - https://old.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/fcydwq/something_beautiful_is_happening_on_the_steem/

That bug eyed creep will likely find encroaching on anyone else's shitcoin will provoke a sharp response.

As for Bitcoin do not underestimate the ferocity of its users. Even if it were possible, whoever tried it would be wiped out and they'd be stunningly stupid to try it in the first place as removing one of its main value propositions would destroy whatever power, profit and influence they were looking for.

Isn't that kind of the same thing like hillary vs. bernie was?

Hilary is an establishment zombie just like Biden. We'll see whether America gets battered economically and medically up until the election but Trump probably has it in the bag already.

Makes no sense to me. You vote on a president or political party because it is the one that aligns most with your political view. You don’t vote on someone because it is the one that is likely going to win.

The last person I voted for got my vote because she liked driving miniature trains. Anyone who does that for a hobby is clearly qualified to meddle with my future.

There's lots of curated stuff there. Obviously it's Bitcoin focused but having seen plenty of non Bitcoin stuff the standard, or lack thereof, often causes me to break out in hives.
1829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would You Rent A Car With Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2020, 12:13:07 PM
Not for me at least. When I rent abroad I'm paying through the local portal at home so there's no exchange rate hassle. Also in many a place you can't have a car without them taking a large deposit on a credit card so they can steal it off you later. Not sure how many rental places would want to give that up.
1830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think, India lifting the ban on cryptocurrencies will impact BTC Price? on: March 04, 2020, 10:51:23 AM
You can 'unban' something but that doesn't mean banks will want to participate in any uptake. The business they do is entirely on their own terms. They're not obligated to take anyone or anything.

I hope it does allow the locals to have a play but it has never been any type of epicentre when there was no action taken against it. Considering the Indian government's willingness to ruin their own people other measures will be put into place by them if BTC starts to get serious traction in India.
1831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Story time! Lost coins & Regrets - Let's bring back a little bit of nostalgia. on: March 04, 2020, 10:30:48 AM
I once lost a lot of money on altcoin so I know what it feels like, when ICO lending like pagarex and others became a trend I felt their project was legit but in reality when their ICO was over they ran off with investors money and until now I still regret the incident.

I can honestly say that I have never made a successful altcoin trade. The stuff I got for free I always sold just before it exploded. The little stuff I bought always plummeted the moment I bought in. Luckily I recognise how useless I am so massively limited my noodling.

It's now clear left wingers are just as big a threat as disease.

If you have any left wing friends please invite them to your home to discuss communism and ice pick them in the eyes and throat until they stop twitching. In a bio hazard suit of course.

And don't eat them.

They abandoned their forum account in 2019 and edited the OP of their ANN thread to this:

That's some pretty old negative trust and that's a seriously petulant attitude. If I'd come across that then no way would I have gone anywhere near it when it was apparently in decent health.

I hope they get nailed for something.

Commie!

Says the man raised on government cheese.

They should try it once. Should be fun. They can pretend it's from Bill Gates.

Goodness, Dow went down 785 points today. Such faith in the markets, wonder what will happen next.....

Another wonderful rate cut tomorrow of course to er... erm...

Fifty dollars in the post to every household.

1836  Economy / Digital goods / Re: I want an honest poll, what range would you value this crypto domain? on: March 03, 2020, 08:59:42 PM
That's disappointing to hear.  Where in your opinion would be a better forum or place to get good crypto domains in front of potential crypto startups, founders, or investors?

Just an observation, don't take my word for it.

My guess is that this would do better on platforms that specialise in domain trading rather than platforms regarding crypto. If I were looking to build a crypto site I would shop for a domain in the place where the domains are, not where the crypto is.

https://www.businessinsider.com/robinhood-trading-downtime-outage-second-day-backlash-2020-3?r=US&IR=T

The Robinhood app has had two major outages over a couple of days just as things are at their most volatile. Lots of talk of class actions on r/wallstreetbets.

Watch that centralisation, kids.
1838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is it some newbies looks like have enough knowledge? on: March 03, 2020, 08:17:27 PM
There are quite a few people who've told me they were playing with Bitcoin for well over a year before arriving here. That was in the earlier days. In recent times with so many other outlets I've seen many people heavily into crypto who've never been here at all. These days you have Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, Telegram, Slack and many more.

That lack of curiosity about here strikes me as really strange but I guess we're not all the same. If one of them suddenly turns up here one day they'll have a ton of knowledge already.

I think I signed up not too far off the same time I got interested in the whole thing.
1839  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 03, 2020, 05:38:31 PM
Oh great, they're cancelling orgies?

This is going to suck.

Dogging is a rather more solemn occasion. Middle aged men gather around middle range family sedans in darkened woodlands and watch them wobble back and forth while the windows slowly steam up. Then they return to their homes and sit in silence and consider what they have witnessed.

I expect just like gay folks have their 'bug chasing' family fun nights where they hand out HIV like sweeties, sexpeople elsewhere will have virus nights. You only get in if your temperature is high enough. Then everyone lets rip.

1840  Economy / Digital goods / Re: I want an honest poll, what range would you value this crypto domain? on: March 03, 2020, 05:15:15 PM
Can you really blame the people though?

I do find it kind of strange considering how much hustling goes on here in general.

Every time someone arrives here with a splash with their domain they are either met with silence or sent away with a flea in their ear.

I don't really get the psychology behind it.
