1821  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie should trade or not? Please give me idea. on: October 02, 2018, 10:52:23 PM
You're never going to get anywhere in any activity unless you actually try it out legitimately. You won't fully become a pilot simply by practicing with flight simulators and learning the required skills necessary to fly, you need real flight hours that will eventually allow you to gain permits to fly. The same goes for trading; I suggest reading guides on trading cryptocurrencies where you can find them, and try to remove emotion from the picture when trading. I find most people lose major amounts of money trading when they make rash decisions based off their emotions.

I also suggest going in to trading with a small amount that you can afford to lose, especially if it's your first time. Expect to lose money at first and gain once you begin to get experience.

1822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Rare coin market on: October 02, 2018, 10:47:35 PM
Investing in 'rare' coins is close to gambling most of the time. You either get a pretty solid reward from buying more obscure coins and selling when they happen to rise in price organically or through a pump, or the coin continues to stagnate or drops lower in price. I've tried this in the past and failed, though that's just my personal experience and I know those who have succeeded using this method, and I've always gotten a better experience daytrading more popular coins or simply buying and holding a more established cryptocurrency like BTC.
1823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Few questions about mining. on: October 02, 2018, 09:36:59 PM
I honestly wouldn't even suggest buying any equipment solely for mining anymore unless you're also going to game or use the GPU for other computing purposes for something like a job, etc. I have a gaming rig with two 1080tis and I no longer mine with them at night or when the rig isn't in use, as the profit I gain from them is now nearly negligible with the way mining profitability is going, and the outlook for mining profitability as of right now isn't too great. There's a lot of risk involved at the moment with a rather small potential reward in my eyes.
1824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone betting on PUBG? on: October 02, 2018, 09:31:29 PM
I haven't personally bet on PUBG before, mostly because cheaters may possibly be a problem even if there's anticheat besides the game anticheat working, and in the case of tournament match betting, there aren't many places where you can bet on PUBG matches. I've only been able to find one site that offers betting on PUBG matches, and that's GG.bet with very few matches posted. PUBG isn't a terribly popular eSport with few major tournaments, performance issues and such, and there are many more games I like to bet on such as CS:GO, even though I do like playing the game and I'm near the top 1% in squads and solo FPP. Also seems like these tournaments are only for mobile, which I don't play and have never had a good experience in.
1825  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can not log in on: October 02, 2018, 09:25:05 PM
What's the website of the NEM faucet you're talking about so we can advise you better and see if it's an error on the website's side? There's multiple NEM faucets out there and I'm not quite sure which one you're talking about.

Either way, try contacting the support email of the website you're talking about if you're unable to login, or if it's a webserver-side error, try reporting the issue to the website's support contacts so they can fix the issue.
1826  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Be careful of Phishing Sites that fly Around on: October 02, 2018, 03:21:57 PM
i am gonna be honest, that site looks pretty good
if someone with not enough experience in these things got this email they could fall for this a lot

How can one in these times not have enough 'experience' with phising mails? It's not just related to crypto. It has been happening for over a decade where criminals are trying to empty people's bank accounts, and when you fall for it these days, you are just an idiot. It may sound hard, but what other way is there to make things clear? Soft talk doesn't help, we have over a decade of evidence to point that out.

People need to have their safe internet world bubble popped before they finally realize that they are a target in almost every corner of the internet, especially when it concerns people holding irreversible value assets such as crypto currencies.

Vitalik's title on Twitter; Vitalik Non-giver of Ether. It has zero effect with how scammers can copy the exact same title, lol. There were more high level crypto coiners that used to do the same, but they realized it had no effect at all and removed the title for that reason, now it's waiting for Vitalik to do the same.

I completely agree with your statement. We can do things to help alleviate problems related to scamming like putting out PSAs, but people need to start using their brains and actually figure out common signs of scams, especially when we’re dealing with cryptocurrencies, where you need to be your own bank and make decisions yourself. Crypto’s really not for everyone, but it can be for most people so as long as the user is conscious and is familiar with scams on the internet (common sense works 99.9% of the time).
1827  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚽️💰🚀💰⚽️ Soccer bet btc.. ⚽️💰🚀💰⚽️ on: October 01, 2018, 09:33:27 PM
I see people here and on other forums complaining about being scammed from paying for information on 'fixed' matches all the time; there's really no telling if OP's legit or not, even if one pick happens to be correct. There's always risk involved when paying for such services, and keep that in mind if you're considering purchasing fixed matches from OP.
1828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how much would you pay for a lottery ticket? on: October 01, 2018, 09:24:04 PM
I'd personally pay 10k satoshis for a single ticket. Nice round number, and it isn't too much or too little in my eyes; I'm sure most people here would agree with me.

I also value reputation when going into something like a lottery. It would suck to win a lottery, and then never get the payout if the owner were to run with the money. A form of escrow would be important if you're starting out as a lottery site, as I personally have very little trust in a new casino offering a lottery or any form of gambling.

I also agree that you should consider offering multiple prizes to participants to attract more winners. I've started gravitating away from single-winner lotteries and towards lotteries with incremental prizes, as I've occasionally had some success in such lotteries.
1829  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I can't log in to freebitcoin on: October 01, 2018, 09:19:30 PM
I would suggest you contact the site administrator for him to manually send you a confirmation email to change your password if it isn't mistyped in the first place; if it is mistyped then things are a bit more difficult. Check your inbox for anything from freebitcoin to make sure you didn't mistype your email on registration if so. There should be a link to support on the site, if you're talking about freebitco.in, but it seems that you can only access that if you're logged in to the site.

1831  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Modafinil for day trading? on: September 28, 2018, 01:08:45 AM
Tea's always a nice option, but I like to drink coffee most of the time. I drink about a cup of coffee or two every day (one usually in the morning and one if I need a bit of an energy boost in the evening), and it keeps me awake more than if I were just going straight and sober. I also go out for walks about every day, and I wake up refreshed every morning, so my health's likely just fine as it is.

I don't like the taste of artificial sweeteners, and I usually just go for regular sugar in my coffee. I eat rather healthy already, and I've got plenty of calories to spare.

As for coffee pushing your sleep time back, I recall doing some reading on the topic and found that it takes around seven or so hours for the effects of caffeine to completely go through processed in your body. Not sure about the exact number, but I've also found this to typically be true.
1832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dangers for crypto on: September 28, 2018, 12:33:51 AM
Regulation's definitely going to hurt crypto in some ways, but I doubt it's going to completely kill crypto. The point someone made earlier about not all countries banning crypto's correct in my eyes, and there'll likely always be a way to transact and use cryptocurrency no matter how hard governments try to prevent it. We'll adapt to whatever is thrown at us, and with the talented programmers and loyal users of crypto in this world, it'll be difficult to completely eradicate crypto.
1833  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin-Laundry.com | Bitcoin Tumbler | Review Bounty Program on: September 28, 2018, 12:20:03 AM
I'd be willing to test your tumbler out as well. I've used several in the past like Bitblender and Chipmixer, so I may use this service in the future if it turns out well. I'd also like to receive the full amount for testing so I can get through it as if I were using the site like a real user.

3CmTeuenwkibBufUMotFcLgw7R59CErMyi

The experience was good, with a comparable experience compared to other blenders I have tried like Bitblender and Chipmixer. Everything’s anonymous as stated, with no KYC of course, and there weren’t any major issues that I encountered through testing. I’ll definitely be using this service in the future.
1834  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: You can now safely buy and sell any item for bitcoin in a p2p marketplace on: September 27, 2018, 11:35:40 PM
Your chart also seems to be broken on the front page, or I'm missing something here. When I hover over a datapoint greater than $0, I see the fees of Forra for sellers are stated to be $0.04 even though you guys state that the seller fees are 0%. Is this an error on the graph, or do you just charge a $0.04 fee per transaction?

I also think you should be comparing yourselves to other marketplaces online such as Bitify, rather than to traditional sites like eBay or Amazon. It's not exactly a secret that there are also other crypto marketplaces out there, and you guys seem to have lower fees. Seems like a missed opportunity to get more people on the site to me.
1835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction becomes more popular with young people over time on: September 27, 2018, 11:28:33 PM
It's definitely becoming more and more prevalent as time goes on, due to more and more methods available online to gamble with and more sites with little or no verification required to deposit and withdraw. There's two sides to crypto-based gambling, and this is the darker side.

As for CS:GO Skins and items associated with gambling there, I believe everything really started with the concept of cases to unlock skins, starting sometime in 2013, and gambling with virtual skins really began to grow around that. There's definitely some actions being taken by Valve to stop this, including cases being locked with no option to unlock in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as the regular banning of gambling site bots to stop sites from operating, though.
1836  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Forex trading, an alternative to earn bitcoins on: September 27, 2018, 10:36:37 PM
And fortunately there are Forex brokers that allow trading with denomination in bitcoin, making deposits and withdrawals in Bitcoin or even trading cryptocurrencies as CFD.

The important thing is to look for alternatives, and this is one of them.

i always trade forex and commodities when bitcoin and altcoins are in a lull. it helps pass the time, and there are/were great bitcoin-only brokers who offered CFDs.

unfortunately, it looks like things are changing for the worse: https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2018-218

1broker has been shut down---the FBI seized its domain earlier today and they are being charged by the SEC and CFTC for offering swaps to customers in the USA without proper registration and licensing. Undecided

this does not bode well for other unregistered CFD brokers like simplefx. if you have funds on any brokers like this, i would withdraw ASAP!

interestingly, 1fox (1broker's bitcoin futures brokerage) is still up. if you still have funds there, i would remove it immediately as well. any funds held at 1broker are lost though.....
Thanks for the warning. I had a few funds on 1Fox that I didn't touch for a few months there that I had forgotten. Seems inevitable at this point that 1Fox is also going to eventually go down or something of the sort soon- seems like the news on 1Broker's just starting to come out now as the press release was today, and it isn't at the front of any crypto news outlets yet. Certainly sucks for all of us trading forex.
1837  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: DAM Suggestions on: September 27, 2018, 10:02:07 PM
You've got a bad link in your post, gave me a 404. I assume you haven't closed off the /url] modifier or something of the sort, as the question mark is also highlighted and part of the main hyperlink and that's what's causing the issue.

Adding a selector to change the units of each crypto would be nice. I like seeing mETH and mZEC as it raises awareness that it's possible to buy just a part of a coin or token, but I'd like to also see how much one ETH or ZEC costs on your platform instead of having to mentally move the decimal point, even though it doesn't take a lot of time.

Adding seller status would indeed be nice to have- in addition to just a basic offline or online indicator, I'd also add a note that shows the last time the seller was online, just like LocalBitcoins does.

1838  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where to buy laptops/PC's with BTC? on: September 27, 2018, 09:48:47 PM
Hello guys, I know there are some websites listed where you can buy laptop and pc with bitcoins but is there any place that sells refurbished laptops and accepts bitcoin? I know newegg does that but to be fair their prices aren't good, I am looking for cheaper alternatives but want a guarantee that the product I'll receive will be quality (refurbished can't be qualitier but I don't want to get it damaged soon).
Seems like it's just Newegg and Overstock for the most part; I did a quick search to find if there were any other retailers that accepted BTC and also sold refurb laptops, but I wasn't able to come up with anything.

Newegg does occasionally have decent deals on laptops, but they're either in the extreme high end or on the very low-end. I would refer you to reddit's buildapcsales subreddit, but I haven't seen anything related to laptops that are at decent prices in a month or two there.
1839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone ordered from Cryptodump.eu ? on: September 27, 2018, 11:23:00 AM
First of all, you are representing a scam site itself "Fortune Jack"

1. https://www.askgamblers.com/forum/topic/8394-fortunejack-roulette-191btc-win-withdrawal-issue/
2. https://netbusinessrating.com/en/review-21830-fortunejack (Illegal Ponzi Scheme)
3. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1787281.0

Scammers are giving advice these days. Just go chill out somewhere i'm not here for these kind of jokes. I'm just looking for new partnerships and suppliers Smiley) I have worked with a lot of HK & CN Suppliers.

We know there are a lot of scams, who the hell would be that stupid to get scammed with a photoshopped picture, but don't talk if you are not providing legit arguments.

BTW, You still have the courage to show up here at Bitcointalk?
You're still not providing legitimate arguments. On the first site you linked, the OP's issue was resolved (all sites occasionally have bugs). On the second site, there is no explanation provided as to why FortuneJack happens to be a Ponzi whatsoever, and the only information I see there at all is just a barebones description of the site. The third thread is simply people claiming that the site is a scam with minimal proof, and some users just posting nonsense; a true scam accusation should be in the actual Scam Accusation section in this forum. The thread

I'm not here for jokes either. What makes you think I'm here to laugh? Anyone can say they have connections with suppliers, and there are people that are extremely skilled at photoshopping images online. I've seen the results of such photoshopping many times, and it's hard to tell if a photo has been tampered with if it's been done well. I'll be here as long as you keep coming back with arguments that are pure bluff and hold no ground.
1840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone ordered from Cryptodump.eu ? on: September 27, 2018, 12:26:22 AM
Im not luring i just started my own private mining farm . I have plenty of miners already. You are just being a d** to me I only post thread or comments if it's worth something or if i need to know something. Please go out the way toxic man. I invested a lot of money and you are just trying to make me feel extra bad. Time will say if you were right. I'll keep you guys posted here.
Okay, continue being overly defensive and ignoring the points that I throw at you. You're just simply wrong and trying to reason with me with pointless arguments. Anyone with money to start a farm would do research and purchase from a reputable vendor rather than purchasing from a site that only accepts non-reversible payment methods and is completely new.

For anyone reading this, one person that supposedly receives his order is still not solid proof that a site is legit. It is easy for someone with existing equipment or even just good photoshopping skills to fake having received packages. Reputation is the only thing that matters when you're purchasing miners from a store, especially when you're buying miners with a bank transfer or a crypto payment. If a site is new and is selling miners, try to pay with PayPal or a method of payment that has some form of buyer protection.
