<edited the post of which quoted for clarity and grammar>

What I propose is for ongoing and future BitcoinTalk discussions pertaining to garnering donations via bitcoin, albeit a dedicated thread discussing Oxford Homeless Pathways is not outta the question. If OHP already accepts bitcoins on their website, then I envision it on the Charities section, otherwise it would be in the vetting section. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for your input, Kelticfox.

I'll see if I can get them to accept BTC directly then.

They currently run a voucher scheme (Ł35 for 10 vouchers) in which the donator receives a booklet of vouchers to give directly to a person who is homeless.
Getting them to accept BTC shouldn't be too hard (as I already know who to speak to as I've just finished a donation drive for them).

Charities section would certainly add legitimacy to the idea that charities (especially newer ones) need to go through some sort of a process in order to be considered "legit". The problem the way we see it is that it's still unclear what process charities would have to go through to not discourage them on one hand, while making it near impossible for scammers to pass on the other. Before we go about opening new threads, let alone forum sections it might be a good idea to figure out a way to do it in a way that would solve the problem in a real way and not just promote some of the existing charities.

All UK charities have a charity number. No number = not a legal charity. I would assume that other countries have the same system?

If so then that would reduce the leg work, we would just need to tie a BTC address to the charity.

I wouldn’t donate money to any charity on here at all. But if you must, as above check they had an official Charity Number, or whether they are doing an official charity collection in Bitcoin where the address can be verified.

I loved Labyrinth as a kid but i find it a bit weird and perverse now.

Why, because David Bowie's Goblin King is essentially a child-snatching paedophile?

Well, no, but now you mention it he is basically a pedo lol. Isn't Jennifer Connelly's character meant to be like 15 or something?

But it's mainly his groin and its proximity to kids and goblins:

Why are you staring at his groin?  Grin

Out of interest how do you get put in the default trust list? Do you have to do a trade directly with Theymos or just appear to be trustworthy by doing other successful trades etc?

Investing in one of our Platinum Accounts is currently the only method which comes with our 100% money-back guarantee.

Haha, yeah, probably trolling  Cheesy. Do you sell 4chan gold memberships perchance?

Gold accounts are so 2012

Haha, I haven't been on 4chan in a while.

That's not necessarily true, there are some reports stating that drones are able to be seen with the naked eye by Pakistani citizens.

http://www.studymode.com/essays/Report-On-Drones-Average-Pakistani-1426336.html

I am sure if you keep your eyes scanning the sky all time you will see the drones. If you are on your way to a wedding not so much as you won't have to worry about being hit.

I couldn't find that link. People who aren't being targeted can see drones fly by. You can see some military drones being tested in the desert in the Western US if you know where to look. They are loud and don't fly extremely high. However, they can easily see and target a person long before the person sees or hears it.

You can get a premium price on ebay, but you're also likely to get scammed on there, so be careful.

But where else to sell them but on ebay...?  What do you recommend?

On the forums here, or on local bitcoins.

Oil is a really bad idea if you're making a data center.
1. You need big containers to store your stuff.
2. You need to circulate the oil inside containers (pumps)
3. If your oil heats up it's going to evaporate and cover the ceiling and other objects in the room.
4. If the container walls do not dissipate the heat well equipment may overheat anyway.
5. Hardware modifications are difficult be prepared to cover yourself in coolant every time you want to connect a cable.
6. Makes reselling almost impossible and voids warranty.

Tell it to this guy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=389758.0 haha

3. May go watch The Hobbit 2 but am not too excited about it.

There's a DVDscreener out.

I've seen the quality and I won't be touching it. It's meant to see on the big screen anyways. I won't even be paying for it to see it on the big screen, so I'm only "paying" with my time and energy to actually go to the theater (which is less than 5 minutes away on foot).

LOTR bore me to tears any way. I'm in no rush to check out these Hobbit films.

I thought LOTR was fine, pacing-wise. But man, if LOTR was boring to you, stay the Hell away from at least the first Hobbit film. Way too long and self-indulgent. I know fans of Tolkien's world ate it up, but as a film fan first and foremost, I was pretty bored.

Hopefully the second one isn't as long and tedious!

My brother liked the films, but not the books. He says it's just chapters and chapters of them roaming around mountains doing nothing except eating bread haha. My Dad read the LOTR books to us as a kid, but I can only remember bits of the Hobbit.

Start off with coin that just launched, you are more likely to mine more in the beginning of each launch.

Not every coin has potential. Only very few have some potential to make some small profit on. Most coins are for the purpose of making the creator rich. No one else.

Well, the creator and a few early adopters, but 99% of the time coins are created with the intention of getting rich quick.

18271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Predict the Date: When will Amazon accept Bitcoin ? on: December 29, 2013, 04:58:06 PM
No corporatecoin would ever be accepted by the masses or the media; not even Amazoncoin.  After Overstock adopts btc, it is likely other retailers will follow.  Another thread could be started on when Ebay/Paypal will accept.  Bitcoin takes profit away from them so, actually more unlikely for EBay than Amazon.   However, Online Retailers save money by using Bitcoin- - - No 1.5% payment to process creditcard plastic fees.  This is big money & this is why online retailers will adopt someday.

Corporatecoins may be used for individual sites as they try cash in on the trend, but I can't see their mass appeal.

Hopefully Overstock's dealings in BTC will be a successful one and more will follow suit. I really think Bitcoins future depends on some big merchants successfully getting behind it.

Ebay/paypal could still utilise Bitcoin, they just need to build it into their system and take a cut automatically. I think ebay should build its own marketplace as there's obviously demand for this.

Ubuntu is too much user friendly soon it will be like windows. I prefer CentOS.

Too user friendly? what does that mean?
18275  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Xbox One - $460 + International Shipping + ESCROW on: December 29, 2013, 04:07:15 PM
Where is it shipped from?

Also these are going for new in the box on amazon.com for $499

US...brand new and unopened...No games

Severely tempted. Cheaper than price here in Thailand but we get  hit with ridiculous import charges so unless the price goes down, going to have to pass.

Can't it just be sent as a gift/commercial sample or with a low value written on it?

As someone who has lived in Thailand for 8 years I can tell you this will not at all work.

Haha, well, as someone who has lived in the UK all my life it works over here. Do they insist on charging tax on all imported goods?

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/dec/29/drones-us-military

"What the public needs to understand is that the video provided by a drone is a far cry from clear enough to detect someone carrying a weapon, even on a crystal-clear day with limited clouds and perfect light. This makes it incredibly difficult for the best analysts to identify if someone has weapons for sure. One example comes to mind: "The feed is so pixelated, what if it's a shovel, and not a weapon?" I felt this confusion constantly, as did my fellow UAV analysts. We always wonder if we killed the right people, if we endangered the wrong people, if we destroyed an innocent civilian's life all because of a bad image or angle".

There was a case in the UK where some British pleb soldier shot some guy on the side of the road because he thought he was planting an IED. Turned out he was just some grandad trying to fix the pavement or something. It's shoot first, don't ask questions later.
18277  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is "CURRENCY"? on: December 29, 2013, 03:58:46 PM
Well, regardless, I think the definitions need to be updated because they're now out-dated. This is like the whole gay marriage scenario because marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman, but that needs to be updated. People need to get with the times. BTC is a currency.

Has the US ever cared about international law except when it applies to its own interests?

The US has never cared about the International Criminal Court, although they have forced the Serbians to deport their leaders to face trial there. People who have killed a few hundreds like Milošević were tried there and the US agents unlawfully killed him inside the prison in 2006. On the other hand, George Bush who has killed millions of innocent people was never put on trial.

I saw an interesting video on Russia Today earlier that details all the puppet governments the US have helped instal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLE7Bswz9G8
