1881  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I be an exchanger and is it allowed? on: December 12, 2022, 02:20:59 AM
Yes, I understand very well when you suspect me of doing something I shouldn't have done, also because I see a lot of fraud committed by people, moreover I am a relatively new person in this space. I will prove when what I plan has been realized.
Building a reputation on this forum starts by staying longer, and doing small business first. If you just registered and make one or two posts, it will be difficult for others to trust you since nobody knows who you are, and there is no trade history either. Participate in forum discussions, make valuable posts for others, be helpful, etc.

Most scammers don't want to use escrow for any transaction, so you might want to use them for a start regardless of how much your deal is worth. There are many escrows with years of reputation here, so there risk is lower for both your client and yourself as mentioned above. Of course, you'll still get a negative reputation even if you use escrow if the deal/business itself is scammy.

If you're not going for P2P and instead build a website/platform where the user needs to trust you without any safety net, it would be incredibly difficult to get customers IMO. Unless you post more details about yourself or your business, nobody will use it since there are other reputable alternatives. You also need to be unique, if what you can offer is only a cheaper price, you'll probably struggle a lot in competing with other businesses. At the end of the day, you'll need to be flexible and react according to the situation, so good luck.
1882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Bitcoin and Ethereum Vs Masternodes? on: December 11, 2022, 01:28:02 AM
And it could be the future in late 2030. Cause it has no any kind of Hardware's and other such setup.
I would not call master node a POW. It is more like a PoS system. You explicitly stated that you need to stake some coins so I don't understand why you assume it is a version of POW.

You also need to set up your own node (it is arguably cheaper, but still needs a setup), it is not a magical system where you can slap it anywhere and it will run perfectly. Not to mention you need to own some coins first, which might be costly depending on what coin you choose. The ROI also depends on the network and the price, if you choose a coin with a theoretically high ROI but the volume on the market is low, then you might not make a profit at all.

If you don't have an excellent budget to run your own mining rig, it is probably better to just buy some BTC regularly instead. Passive income sounds cool but usually requires some budget and luck. You can also look for farming on pools if you really want to get some interest, but remember that there is always a risk. Don't expect too much profit when you don't have a massive budget.
1883  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Changing Google Captcha to Biometric Scan | Extended application to Crypto walle on: December 11, 2022, 12:45:09 AM
So like, my mouse touch pad is entirely biometric sensor plate which will let my laptop understand I am working with it and let it know I am still human. Whenever a browser opens up it does not have to access my biometric data directly. It has to only call for verification parameters that are logged by my device itself. That could add up extra layer of security without compromising my privacy?
Maybe building an MVP/showing the code would help understand it better. What I'm wondering is how the browser/server knows the data (that you are an active user) is true if they need to call a "verification" request to the device without requiring some sort of validation process, which might require some sensitive data to be accessed by other parties.  If it is really not necessary, then how can it improve the current captcha if a bot or machine can bypass it by sending recorded biometric data btw?

For example, a bot computer is fed some random fingerprint data, since the website only needs to get an OK sign from an offline device, then the bot can simply say OK without doing any actual verification. At least that's what your idea sounds like to me. Competing with a captcha would probably be difficult, at least if you use a complex captcha and not the standard font typing that gets bypassed easily.
1884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Creating https://myetherwallet.com Using Keystore File Method on: December 10, 2022, 02:47:49 AM
It's caused by mycrypto gives me more ability to create a wallet even when i were in offline mode.

Not saying you should use it, but you can also use MEW offline. Read more here. I think MEW and MyCrypto are more or less at the same grade. Not the best choice if you're looking for long-term storage and security.

There are so many ways that already offered to sign in your wallet but the most popular one must be through the private keys. It's caused by you didn't need password but this less secure compared with keystore.

You should look for alternatives since inputting private keys or uploading keystore is prone to a phishing attack. Using an open-source hot wallet should be a bit better. You can also try using a hardware wallet/cold-gapped device for long term purpose. It might cost you some money, but it is worth the money as long as you choose the right one. Avoid closed-source or centralized wallet even if they claimed that they open source some of their apps.

OP, if you created a wallet through the MEW website through software methods, so keep the Keystore file on an external hard drive, and never forget the password that you entered after creating the wallet.

Make sure to never store it on cloud too. Some people lose money because they store their file on cloud (things like Drive, or even Telegram saved messages). It is better if OP move from a risky tools like keystore in the first place, especially if they are newbies and can't prepare the appropriate security measures to protect their wallet.
1885  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are the Whales Control bitcoin price? on: December 10, 2022, 01:02:11 AM
but if the whales owned 51% of bitcoin, can do it?. if happen, does decentralization not exist?
If by decentralization you mean the ability to push the price down by dumping the coins on the market, you don't need to own 51% of the total supply to do it, considering the market liquidity is not even that deep. I think you have to separate between price movement and coin distribution to some extent if you want to talk about market manipulation. You also need to specify what kind of decentralization are you talking about since the network is definitely not controlled by some whales.

Back to market manipulation. Even if you only control 5% of the coins but the market is not that liquid, you can still manipulate the price to your own liking. I sold some shitcoin in the past, and the price move nearly 50% after I did that. If the volume/demand is high, that might not happen. Can this happen to Bitcoin? Probably. Even if it does, as long as the network is still fine, you should not worry too much. Unless of course what you really focused on is the price and you want to get profits asap
1886  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Changing Google Captcha to Biometric Scan | Extended application to Crypto walle on: December 09, 2022, 01:27:35 AM
The only times when it would be synched is when our browser ends up with pre verification step.
Syncing means your data needs to be verified right? At one point or another, the data will need to be shared with other parties. The website needs to prove that I'm human in real time so I'll need to scan at the same time, I don't know how you can bypass this by sending encrypted data unless the website itself has the same data to do the verification. If the scanning in real-time itself is pointless because the data is stored offline (hence the website does not need any fingerprint data), then why need a fingerprint scan in the first place? A captcha would suffice no?

I'm not familiar with the technicalities but even if you only need the hash of such data, I still don't feel safe when I use it. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say since it is quite difficult to put it into words.

Nonetheless, in today's world we are anyways haring ton of personal data to these devices already. Whether it is my location (steady/live), motion detection, permissions to read the data on device for various purposes so that the app/site can function normally.
I don't see why we should normalize such practice if it harms our privacy and security, even if a lot of apps do the same thing. Not to mention you can disable/remove those permissions, and use other apps that don't require any sensitive data for your purpose. Those websites don't need so much of our data to function well, would you give your location data to an obscure website just because they asked you? If I need to scan my fingerprint just to see their website, I'd rather leave.

There are tons of abuse of such personal data if you take a look around this forum. Things from phishing e-mails because of a database leak, stolen identity where somebody suddenly got a lot of debt when they never made one, losing crypto money because their password is stored online, etc.

Not everyone is techy, not everyone understands what type of data might be getting shared.
And because not everyone understands the risk, we need to educate and spread awareness to them. Saying OK to privacy-invasive technology is not the right way IMO. CMIIW.
1887  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Investing in solar power and miners on: December 09, 2022, 12:35:53 AM
So I just did some basic search because I'm also curious about this. I'll use the US price for the panel installation. It seems like you need to pay around $13K on average to install a 6kw solar panel. Since you need to buy a miner too, you probably need to spend another $3k at least to buy a 100+ TH/s miner, something like S19. That means your cost on average is around $16k.

If you use the calculator shared by Bitmaxz to calculate this, you'll need around 2 years to break even. This assumes the difficulty decrease by 7 percent each month, the BTC price stays the same, your panel doesn't break, your miner doesn't break, you constantly mine at 110TH/s, and so on. Do calculate on your own though, since there are a lot of assumptions here and I'm probably wrong about some things (the rig choice, price projection, etc).

Here's the ref link that I use to find the data for the calculations:

1888  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My dad got a Ledger from Best Buy.... on: December 09, 2022, 12:12:20 AM
By local retail store do you mean official resellers?  I think they have enough resellers to cover most parts of the world.  If planning to buy a Hardware Wallet physically with Cash, just plan the next vacation in a city where an official reseller can be visited.
Some countries only have one or two resellers at the moment, so it can be a problem if you can't make a trip. In my case, I need to travel for at least half a day to buy from them. They do support online shopping but you'll need to give some personal info at one point or another. Makes me wonder if they share the data with Ledger or not.

Another problem is the price, buying locally costs a lot in my area, probably because the reseller wants more profits. The price difference can start from 30 to 50%. It is probably not a problem if something like Nano S is your target though. I just wish it can be even cheaper.
1889  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Are my coins too safe? on: December 08, 2022, 11:52:54 PM
Satoshilabs have been giving more widespread awareness to the passphrase feature, which could lead to some people who are not advanced yet with management of their wallet to commit a mistake.
I think anyone who wants to use something like this or prepare their inheritance should learn and be aware of this in the first place. Like it or not, it is their responsibility to learn and manage their wallets if they want to be in control. If they are not comfortable with it, then their only option is to trust a third party to make sure their family can access their crypto in the future, which is probably not the best choice.

With time, I think more and more people will get accustomed to it, just like people are familiar with 2FA or other layers of protection that currently exist. If you think about it, a password or 2FA can also be a problem for you if you forget or misplaced it, so the key is how to make sure you can access it in the future.
1890  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: App for crypto indicators on: December 08, 2022, 01:32:15 AM
I just check the app, I will copy some of their UI some stuff looks much better. Their free indicators and just Closing Price, Price Change %, Volume, and Japanese Candlestick Patterns I can't use this at least I need RSI.
Thank you for the link Smiley
Oops, my bad. I didn't see the detail on the right page about the premium plan. Quite expensive if you don't trade regularly for $6 a month imo, but there is a discount right now so you can buy it for around $4. Yeah, it definitely has a good UI, you can use it as your inspiration.

I search further and found another website that can be your inspiration/competitor, it needs registration but it is free according to their faq (https://altfins.com/alerts/notifications). Looks like it supports RSI too. It has an IOS app, however, based on the feedback from the users it is terrible. It needs some rework so you have to use the website if you don't want any problems.
1891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alert to Trust Wallet users: There's an ongoing address spam, be more cautious. on: December 08, 2022, 12:27:30 AM
Just in case everyone is not aware yet, this is not exclusive to Trust wallet, for example:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5425022.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5425735.0

Looks like the attacker has been doing this for a few days now, but the victims just recently post more on social media. Personally, I got these spam transactions months ago, not exactly identical but share some similarities. I wonder if the attacker is the same person/group or not. He definitely targets wallets that allow users to copy and paste addresses from the transaction history easily. A feature like that allows him to hide some characters to trick the user, but unfortunately, even those who use other apps or HW also fall for this trick.

Looks like we need to check the whole address just to be sure we don't get tricked next time. Using the bookmark/contact feature on your wallet might be a good idea so you don't have to copy-paste every time you make new transactions.

Here's were things get interesting, for sometime now each USDT transaction he execute on his Truth wallet app, he usually gets some sort of reward (less than cents) either in TRX or USDT. But unknowing to him that was a spam attack and not reward from trust wallet as he thought.
Sounds very similar to what happened in one of those threads I linked above. Is there any reason why he assume it was a reward though? I don't recall Trust Wallet having any promotion like that.
1892  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: App for crypto indicators on: December 07, 2022, 09:37:33 PM
Have you tried this app[1]? This sounds like what you need. I never use this though so I can't give a detailed review, looking at their website and demo you can see that it gives you multiple alerts based on technical formation and it supports many coins/exchanges at the same time. It has a paid version but the free one should be more than enough for your needs. You might want to check it out and use it to improve your own apps if you don't trust them.

I am using TabTrader but it has an alert only for the price(I am not familiar with how the pro version works) so that is not enough for me.
As far as I can remember, yes, they only have a price alert. They do support many indicators but you need to monitor them yourself when you trade. It is definitely not the right tool for your needs OP.

1893  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Apple blocks Coinbase wallet release on IOS on: December 07, 2022, 09:20:56 PM
Atleast someone has to voice about this so users may realize what they are going through unless the rate of control will further progress with years and every update.
I'm pretty sure there are tons of complaints about their policy on social media, but their users will keep buying or using their product since there is no alternative for them and they are too lazy to move to another ecosystem. Apple has no incentive to change either since people still buy their product, so it's kinda useless.

If Apple continues to do all these, they may also be blocking the rest of the wallets on iOS. Trust Wallet could be his real target.
How big is Trust Wallet market share on IOS? They are smaller than Coinbase on the app store, with fewer downloads and user ratings too. I doubt they want to kill such a 'small' wallet when they already went for the bigger one. Cash App is probably the next target if there is really some sinister idea behind this move.

I didn't know existence of AltStore which don't need jailbreak. Although requiring computer for initial setup would discourage many average user who're used with convenience.
If they are considering using an alternative app store, I think most of them would be prepared to do something more than just download and install an app. At least that's how I feel when I regularly mod my Android phone in the past. But doing this on IOS is definitely not easy, not many apps are supported by default and we need to find our own IPA files to sideload. CMIIW.
1894  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Changing Google Captcha to Biometric Scan | Extended application to Crypto walle on: December 07, 2022, 07:37:54 AM
My biggest concern is privacy and security. How can we ensure that my fingerprint data is secured? If I understood your idea correctly then somebody can link my activities and probably figure out who I am as long as they get my fingerprint scan data. What if some malware is installed on my phone and use the data to log in to our sensitive account for example?

I can understand why phones or other devices use fingerprints as their locking mechanism since the data is stored offline (assuming they don't send it to some server of course), but using fingerprints as a captcha for online service sounds like a bad idea. Compared to captchas that exist right now, using fingerprint or other biometric verification sounds like a step-down. At least if we consider privacy as something really important for the user.

Btw, you also mention a crypto wallet as the target for this, I think we can separate captcha and wallet verification entirely since their goal is different. Fingerprint for your crypto wallet can work with fewer privacy issues (if your wallet is a cold wallet at least), and you don't need to connect to the internet to do that in the first place. If you want to use your device as an extra security, you might want to install FIDO (or buy one like Yubico) or something similar, so you don't need personal data for that too. CMIIW.
1895  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Stax (Ledger's latest hardware wallet) on: December 07, 2022, 07:00:59 AM
This is such a weird product. They claimed it was designed to travel wherever the user goes, but why would they bring an HW wallet when traveling in the first place? Or is there a new trend where people get a cold wallet when they take a trip? Bringing a hot wallet like a phone is probably the better choice, no need to carry two devices just to manage your crypto. I can see understand if it is like an NFC card or something similar like that. Since it is cheap and doesn't attract unwarranted attention, unlike this one.

Looking at how they promote this wallet, looks like their target is new retail investors who usually hold crypto on exchanges. Maybe one or two of their research department staff look at Reddit and see that this thing can sell since those people like fancy stuff, it is clearly not for me (and probably not for the majority of the user in this forum either). The price is also insane in my region, I can buy 3-4 Nano S for one of these, which is a better deal.
1896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are end-stage adopters going to be happy owning fractional amounts of bitcoin? on: December 07, 2022, 06:08:33 AM
Not sure about that statistic, maybe it's a bit logical to calculate the number of privatekeys that have been generated through wallets.
I'm pretty sure this is just a hypothetical scenario from OP, you can replace the number with 1 billion or 40 billion, the point is the number of users who uses Bitcoin is way larger than now and most of them probably don't own 1 BTC or even 0.1 BTC.

Are end stage adopters going to be happy/proud/satisfied/well-off owning a few million satoshis? Will end-stage adopters own only thousands of satoshis? Mabey by that point people will disassociate the value of bitcoin:fiat and associate it to another form of value?
If Bitcoin is as mainstream as you imagined it to be, I think most of us will be happy even if we don't own 0.1 BTC. There's no need to feel shame just because you own a thousand satoshis if they are worth millions. I don't think we will see fiat die completely and be replaced with other currencies, so I think BTC:fiat won't be gone either. However, I can see BTC being used as the standard instead since fiat is inflationary and so prone to failure (like Bolivar, for example). No reason not to be happy if that is the case.
1897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Destroy Crap Altcoins? on: December 07, 2022, 05:56:21 AM
I'm pretty sure altcoins will stay for a while. A lot of companies and corporations are trying to gain some market share from this and I don't think all of them are useless. You don't even need Bitcoin to crush those shitty altcoins since coins like Ethereum, Monero, etc are definitely going to outlive them. I expect there will be more cases like FTX, Celcius, etc in the future. The market will continue to filter shitty companies that promise 20% annual return as the only way to keep their business afloat. It's like what mk said, most of the altcoins are moving to their own category and do not compete directly with BTC.

What are your views on the future? I clearly know that the persistence of beliefs is often not so strong, and few people can hold Bitcoin for a long time.
We got a nice cycle if you take a look at the past. A bull market comes, lots of companies get mainstream, and shortly after that they go bust after the bear market starts, some revive with another name, etc. You will be surprised to see that a lot of users are holding BTC for years, and the number of 1 BTC holders is increasing every year. BTC will definitely stay, while scam/shit tokens will die sooner or later.
1898  Local / Trading dan Spekulasi / Re: [DISKUSI] Harga Bitcoin on: December 06, 2022, 09:19:39 PM
