Some more anti-FUD:

One of my withdrawals arrived today. This was, however, the last one I did. Two still remains (which was executed prior to the one I received).

So, Gox is wiring people's money: you are free to sell and cash in your hard-earned fiat profits, summer is long Cheesy
1962  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 18, 2013, 01:56:08 PM
This letter is being posted roughly 24 hours prior to the payout....
The payout will occur in roughly 20 increments over a period of several hours and will arrive in S.DICE holders’ accounts (in the same manner as dividends)

so payout to shareholders will start roughly in 12 hours and market is already getting in the right mood?
there is no particular date mentioned in the statement, so when will the coins be payed out precisely?

I'd consider it a good case if just 5 to 10% of these coins are dumped but I suspect it will be more with the herd following the trend.
Just depends on the shareholders how much they reinvest in btc economy (AM-share price already gone up a little)
and how much they hold or cash out.
(imo it's not unrealistic that a lot will reinvest because that's what they did in first place, right?)

well nevertheless i foresee a red candle party after the payout...please correct me if i'm overestimating the effect of this.
I'm not sure how to estimate the regular s.dice-shareholder and his behaviour Tongue, i hope he's a longterm investor now looking for other possiblities.

Another question is if people that want to cash out quick really go to gox and wait forever for their money or if they sell at the other exchanges?

I expect the big dump of the day to have already happened ($98ish to $88ish), but that's kind hard to predict. The overall trend is obviously down, but predicting how fast that will happen is just a gamble.
1963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MyBitcoin has started spending our stolen coins on: July 18, 2013, 01:42:25 PM
The odd thing is the coins are not being sent in the way a normal Bitcoin client would send them, the address balances are being nibbled at and combined with other small payments from other address to new addresses, like here: http://blockexplorer.com/address/12ViYXgordxUkmPhN5PAU9vJRHwc8jftfQ. The coins are sitting in that new address. Now the question is, is that a MtGox address or still the BitThiefs? If MtGox is willing to lock accounts because coins were long before used to scam MMORPG money, they should at least be willing to find, flag, lock, and IP log coins sent directly from mybitcoin users' addresses to the exchange, disclose that those are MtGox addresses if requested, and respond to subpoenas to the identity of the thief (for private action or to be handed over to the prosecution arm of juristictional law enforcement).

Along with the magical re-appearance of "Tom Williams" at the same time, we know it's the site owner, and I have a feeling they are being transferred to the exchange for quick sell, huge sells happening right after these transfers.

It seems those BTC were sent to Gox in April this year, nice exchange rate at that time. Yep, this is an epic necro, but I thought it could be fun to track some more of the mybitcoin stolen funds.

https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-24

That's great news for fans of KNC.  Meaning they will release a competitive product in Sept, sell it until the ROI drops and then design and release a new competitive product according to the network hash rate in 2014.   We all know these units will not be worth the current price in 6-8 months so what KNC is saying is really good for the customers.

Just remember to save enough BTC to get the next version and you will continue to thrive.

It also provides some information for non customers who feel it is too late to purchase.  You can save up and purchase a Gen2 device which should be profitable.  Just get in early next time.

Everything is a tad too open and abstract. I'd prefer to know they are doing a batch of X Jupiters; X Saturns; X Mercury, delivered from September to December. In any case, they should already know how many chips are they receiving in their first batch, and what aprox. hashrate they are getting from them.

For example, we knew that Avalon was going to release 1,200 machines in three batches of 300; 600; 600. That's quite useful when planning this kind of investment, because you know the aprox. "competition" you will face due to your own supplier.

We could use a bigger ChartBuddy, couldn't we? Clicking on it every time its a pain, its much better when you can have the picture of the book at first glance.

The ones hating it can just ignore it.

Just received this update? Talking about March 2014? HUH? I thought these were to ship this year October? What's going on?

KnCMiner Network Protection Statement

At KnCMiner we are aware of the service we are providing to our customers. We are also aware that we need our customers to have a return on their devices in order to purchase form us again. With the scale of the supply chains, agreements and factories we have access to, we need to be cautious we don’t ship too many devices and therefore reduce the return to our customers.  So with that in mind our plan is to do as follows:

We will ship no devices in December 2013, January 2014 or  February 2014. Meaning that once we have taken the difficulty up at the end of November we will not release any more hashing power for 3 months. We will then release our new generation of devices, which will begin shipping in March 2014. These devices will also have a much higher GH/$ rating than any of our current offerings.

We would like to state that If any of our competitors continues to add large amounts of hashing power to the network during December, January or February. We will continue to release our devices as competitively priced as we can to protect our customers share of the network.

Thanks
KnCMiner Team

Didn't receive that, but looks quite logical.

Rembember that it was possible to set orders without actually having money in the account not so long ago. Wonder how much this skewed the book.
It never was. What you're talking about is being able to set an unfunded "placeholder" order that doesn't appear in the order book until the funds arrive, and the order is either partly or fully activated.

Exactly. BTW: lucas.sev, do you trade or just comment? I'm curious.

I trade few times a month. Still very new to trading. I used bitcoin in 2011, and heard about them before but was too young to think of them as an investment. Also, suspecting where the question comes from: I do not believe comments on this forum have ANY power over the price.

I was just surprised by the "it was possible to set orders without actually having money in the account" statement.

Those orders placed with no money never did shit, the trading platform clearly said "not enough funds" and those non-backed orders never appeared on the order book. If you were trading just a couple months ago you would have known.

I never tried placing them that's why I did not know, but I remember there was an announcement from mtgox that it is no longer to place orders when you have not enough funds.

Yep, that was a DDoS related improvement. People abused the trading engine by placing thousands of non-backed orders that flooded the system while having no practical effect on the book or the trading itself. This is why they couldn't fight DDoS just by standard means.

Does the knc-china is genuine?

Additionally, How far is it?

Only way to confirm it is for kncminer.com to confirm, and for knc-china.com to put up a link to kncminer.com's confirmation.

Saturn is listed as drawing max 500W. Do you think a 600W Corsair that I have lying around would be enough or should I go for a bigger PSU?

If your 600w PSU is 80Plus Silver, it can handle 510w.  If it's 80Plus Bronze, 492w.  I've read that non-80Plus PSUs can be as low as 50-60% of declared capacity.

I'd say its a scam.

I just hope people aren't buying NUGs thinking it's like some underground side show for the silk road thinking they're getting the Mary Jane for some crazy low price.  Whatever the reason is, nobody has responded yet.

Where are my $20 Bitcoins ?

Patiente, little grasshoper. We need Gox to finally pull his shit together so the good old traders can realize their fiat profits and enjoy their holidays.

Some good, anti-FUD news:

I can now happily confirm that today I received my EUR SEPA transfer, after waiting since June 9thSmiley
Makes me feel relieved.

My withdrawal status changed from "confirmed" to "pending" a few days ago, so pending probably means it's on it's way across banks.

Wink

1975  Economy / Speculation / Re: The mother of all traps? on: July 18, 2013, 10:27:54 AM

You will lose that bet big time.

I can give you two facts:

a) I personally withdrew *big time* after the april 10th collapse (at the very beginning of June to be precise).

b) the ATH fiat on Gox's order book its been +$22M. For the last month it has been fluctuating between $11M and $13M. Sure that doesn't represent ALL the fiat on Gox, but the "visible" amount is inevitable correlated with the "invisible" amount.

Most of speculators realize their fiat profits (or cut their losses) after a bubble pop. Most are in this to make money, its summer and everybody can use some profits.

My view is that the book is worth less than money sitting in the sidelines. I suppose you do not share this view?

I share it, I think the book is only a % of the total amount of money in the sidelines, something around 30% and 50% - but still I think the % is pretty consistent and can be used to have a rough idea of the money flow.

At the very beginning of 2013 there were $2M on Gox's book, and that figure was pretty much constant since Sept. 2012. From February 2013 the fiat in Gox's order book started to skyrocket, until it reached +$23M at the bubble top. IMO that represents A LOT of new money flowing to Gox, and the recent halving of the order book money represents a slow but steady declining of fiat. The book is no reliable indicator and its easily manipulable, but still it gives a rough picture that is useful to check the buying and selling pressure in certain points.

Trap currently closing. Pretty funny situation as there is more than a 10% divergence between Bitstamp and Gox; the inability to withdraw fiat from Gox is distorting the price and will probably extend the pain for the bulls in denial, as an impulsive move down is pretty much pointless if the fiat cannot be withdrawn by the traders.

Do you seriously think that many people withdrew money after the 10april collapse? My bet is that there is at least the same amount of fiat/btc worth of fiat in the mtgox accounts, in different hands though.

You will lose that bet big time.

1980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 18, 2013, 09:29:35 AM
So I'm curious.  How many can you sell for 1 BTC?

There is a sell order of 12000 NUG for 0.10644 BTC which is $0.0007983 for 1 NUG. Seems grossly overpriced to me.

Wow, Paulie could dump his 2.2 million coins and make almost $2k, and that only in roughly 2 days of working/trolling! In 2-3 years he will indeed have made millions... What a genius!

(I know he would never be able to dump 2.2 million coins at that price, I'm just trolling a bit)
