21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale strategy is a failure if you are consistent with it on: May 18, 2024, 11:01:48 AM
I love roulettes because it is very easy to play and I see it relaxing. I bet with $3.5 yesterday using martingale strategy as I want to see what the outcome would be, I was able to win $6. $6 to $9 but it will go down to $3 until I won $10.  From $10 back to $6 until I won $13. Later I won $18. I played 5 consecutive times without winning at all and I lost the whole money. If won any among the 5 times selection, I would have increased it to back $18 or to $25. It was a boring day for me, I enjoyed the game, I wish to play more but I do not want to lose more money.

The problem with the Martingale strategy is that you really have to prepare a huge capital if you were to implement this technique.

The Martingale strategy requires a person to double their next bet on the value of their initial bet. For example, if a person bets $2 and lost, the next bet should be $4... and so on. Sure, there is that possibility of doubling your money or even recovering all your previous losses from a single bet but this quickly compounds into a huge amount especially if you are on a losing streak.

Take advantage of every winnings that you have when you use this kind of strategy. As soon as you recovered your losses and started winning, plan ahead on the value that you would exit for maximum profitability.
22  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where are you hyper focus, online casinos or physical casinos on: May 18, 2024, 07:06:51 AM
I don't think there is a topic created about this, so I'm creating one.

Physical casinos do not have clocks or windows on the gaming floor, and they offer free drinks like wine energy drinks, and food so the gamblers will be hyper focused this is why gamblers spend hours without even knowing they have already spent, while online casinos offer free spins, rakeback, and cashback so you can continue to play to level up to enjoy these perks.

So between the two where are you more hyper-focused and how many hours do you spend on one compared to the other?
In my case it has to be physical casinos, but not for the reasons you may think, after all when I gamble online I have the freedom to decide how much time I want to spend gambling, and in the case of a sport bet this can be as short as a few seconds, and I can just do whatever else I want with my time, however attending a physical casino has a series of opportunity costs, like the time spent on the road, which makes it unlikely you will just spend a few minutes there as you want to make your visit count, then it is way more likely you will spend hours there and you may make use of those perks offered by casinos.

I think it also depends on the individual but I will discuss on how each platform can have their respective focuses:

ON PHYISCAL CASINOS:
Like what you said OP, physical casinos give lots of complimentaries in order to compel the individual to stay for as long as they can on the gambling establishment. This includes drinks, free staying on the hotel, free food, etc. and any kind of amenity in order to really capture the person on staying on the establishment.

ON ONLINE CASINOS:
While there may be no free amenities being offered or complimentaries, online casinos have bonuses and rewards (e.g. free spins, etc.) in order to entice the gambler on the online casino. In addition, these online casinos offer the best convenience- which is to gamble at your own home or place, etc. Also, the convenience of paying through online MOPs are efficient.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Concerns grow over online gambling among teens on: May 18, 2024, 03:29:35 AM
What's striking the most of what Colby Cotrone said was that kids are unaware of what they are doing. Could it be that even the grown-up man may also not be aware of what he is doing as over time a gambler may be consumed by how much he enjoyed the thrills of gambling?

I do not think think that grown men do not understand the nature of what they are doing.

I would understand if teens engage in an activity involving money and they do not realize that they are actually gambling. When I was a kid, I used to buy lotto skins from a certain online fps game not knowing that I was already engaging into a gambling-related nature of transaction.

Grown men, on the other hand, know already the basic understanding of their actions. They are also aware that what they are engaging into is gambling overall. If they are justifying that they do not understand what they are doing, then they are either that ignorant or just plain in-denial.

Quote
And would you agree with him in implementing gambling prevention education in schools?

Of course- gambling prevention programs should be implemented into programs that schools may offer.

For example, schools and universities may implement into their schedule a dedicated 1-2 days of gambling awareness and its dangers. If the young could understand and grasp the potential dangers of gambling addiction, then this can at least reduce the amount of teens being addicted to such act.
24  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the Worst online Casino you've played on so far? on: May 17, 2024, 05:38:19 PM
I have not experienced any negative feedback and result from the gambling platforms that I have tried on (e.g. Rollbit, BlacJack4fun, etc.) since they are reputable gambling platforms and they would not risk ruining their reputation for any simple reason.

Based on the feedback that I have garnered in the past, it seems that 1xbit could take the cake for the worst online casino that is ever advertised in this forum. Lots of people have been complaining about their withdrawals being halted and their rewards not being given. Additionally, the casino also has this shady trick of changing the odds to gain an unfair advantage over its players.

The icing on the top here is that 1xbit ran a signature campaign where it accepted all negatively-tagged users to advertise. Funny thing is, most of them were not even rewarded with their weekly pay. It is just an overall scam online gambling platform that people should definitely avoid.

*Just google "1xbit scam" and you will see countless of posts in this forum complaining about it.
25  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin high transaction fee blessings in disguised on: May 17, 2024, 05:05:02 PM

for awhile.

Actually totoo- blessing in disguise na mataas ang transaction fees kasi medyo forced ka to HODL your coins instead of sending it to a certain exchange for liquidity to peso. Medyo ganun kasi yung nagagawa ko weekly na every BTC na pumapasok sa Bitpay wallet ko, sinesend ko siya agad sa coins.ph account ko for liquidation. Pero since mataas ang fee during that time (and ngayon medyo din), medyo forced ka talaga to hold your coins and dahil dito indirectly kang nakakapag invest for long-term.

Kayo guys, kamusta naman yung pag HODL niyo? Bumaba yung price ng BTC to around p3.3m and ngayon tumaas na siya to p3.7m. Nakapag take advantage ba kayo during nun dip ng price and nag purchase din ba kayo ng BTCs during that time?
26  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the biggest bet you ever won? Did you withdraw or lose it? on: May 17, 2024, 04:35:30 PM
Well I guess winnings are subjective, am I right? lol- anyway, back in 2015 when Dota 2 was still a relatively new game, they introduce these so-called "keys" where you can open crates that you can get from playing games. The only way to receive these keys is through purchasing it directly with the Valve shop for $2.49 each OR you can also trade your in-game skins to other players for a certain number of keys.

Basically, the economy of Dota 2 revolved around these keys where it was the main currency in determining the value of each skin. When Dota2lounge was new and lots of people were casting their votes on which team would win, I was able to turn my $1 worth of skins to around $350 in a matter of 2-3 weeks. I had the time of my life given that $350 was really a huge money during that time especially that I live in a third-world country.

Fast forward, I traded my $350 worth of skins to around ~160 keys and I downloaded this bot on Steam where you can play blackjack against the bot and you would win keys in return. I wagered 10 keys at first and won like 100 keys in a day. So in total, I had 260 keys (~$650); but I lost them in a single day when I experienced this consecutive losses and I thought I could recover them by betting again.
27  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying Vs Renting a Home- Which is the right move? on: May 17, 2024, 03:36:42 PM
This topic has come up quite a few times over the years on this board.  A lot of the discussion around it has mostly been others opinions.  I found this neat little graph online (instagram) from the New York Times that compares the two.  Now keep in mind one's location will certainly have an effect on which one might make more sense, even in what part of you own country you're in.

I am a firm believer that you lose money when you rent a house especially if you consider it long-term.

The problem with renting is if you plan to stay in that house long-term, then it will definitely hurt your financials the more you stay there. If you plan to stay at a place for more than 8+ years, then it is better to really purchase the home instead of renting it.

In the Philippines, the average rent of condominium units is around $270-$350 per month on a studio unit. If you purchase a unit, it will probably cost you around $60,000 - $70,000 depending on the condo and its location. That is the reason on why your plan is essential in making a decision whether you want to rent or not.

You plan to stay temporarily in such area? Better rent;
You plan to stay at least permanently on that location or at least for a long time? Better purchase the lot/unit.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Swap crypto or sell first then buy? on: May 17, 2024, 03:04:44 PM
Hi,

I have a few altcoins that are doing pretty well and want to take profits soon to then reinvest into other altcoins that haven’t pumped yet and I am wondering if it is best to swap directly or sell my altcoin that is doing well into USDT and then buy the new altcoin I want with the USDT?

I use Coinbase mainly so wondering which way is best to do it or is there not really much difference?

It really depends on your preference if you want to do it or not.

Personally, I would like to convert my altcoins to BTC given the potential of the latter to skyrocket on its price. From there, I will HODL until I am comfortable enough with its price on the market when I determine that it is ripe for withdrawal.

You may consider keeping them also in such altcoin in order to avoid paying extra fees, etc. but be reminded that the movement of some certain altcoins on its price are relatively lower in volatility compared to BTC.

IN CONCLUSION:
Depends on your preference but I highly recommend that you convert it to BTC for both short or long-term investment/HODL.
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does destiny has influence in the amount we can win in gamble? on: May 17, 2024, 02:03:06 PM
And this makes me to come to a hypothetical conclusion that in gambling each and every person is individually destiny to within the range of certain amount of win. And that if you are not destined to win the high amount you are after, you will never be able to no matter how much you use or the strategy you apply to your bets.

Not to bore us with many words... I want to ask to know about forum members opinions and views about this. Is it what it is or it's just a fallacy?

Nah everything is all about luck. Sometimes, there are just people who are born lucky and they are also have this itch for gambling.

I consider myself as someone who is very unlucky with bets. I betted hundreds of times in the past and all of my bets amounted to a loss of at least 80% of my total bets. On my last gambling activity, I lost a total of $400 and there was no reward even when I try to bet in small amounts.

While this may be the case, I may be unlucky with gambling but I am also blessed with things outside the gambling world. This is not to say that those who are lucky in gambling are unlucky in some parts of their lives, but I just see it on a different perspective that the compensation of my losses was through some blessing outside that world.

Op,  to an extent you are absolutely correct. There are people who have been playing bet for years yet there winnings is not something to talk about I mean it's very poor and not encouraging but there are people who will started today and before next week if they should show you there betting history will marvel and I think that is grace.

However, those people who use to win thousand dollars that's below million and also those who will win millions it's not just destiny but also Grace. It's very important and necessary for someone to be operating on Grace .

I think this also boils down to the frequency of gambling.

Naturally if a person bets more, they will incur more expenses in the process regardless if they win or not. On the other hand, there are people who just bet once in a blue moon and they quickly take advantage of their winnings as they completely stop to gamble.
30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Casino Community Service Possible? on: May 17, 2024, 10:48:03 AM
If I recall correctly, there are physical casinos that have their own initiative when it comes to charity or any kind of corporate social responsibility depending on what is needed in a certain country.  From my general knowledge, there have been instances where gambling companies would donate to certain charitable groups and foundations for a certain cause.

In the Philippines, we have this government entity called Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in which they are responsible for our nation-wide lotto games. A certain percentage of all the lottery winnings will be dedicated towards charity and other health programs for the benefit of our citizens.

While PCSO is a government-owned project and initiative, I also do think that there are land-based casinos that have their respective programs and projects catering to the poor. Not only does this help these people but it also somehow cleans their name as a gambling institution.
31  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Scam phone call scheme on: May 16, 2024, 06:20:07 PM

Ohhh! Never ever give away your OTP to anyone since yan na ang last layer of security mo against illegal transactions.

Let's face it- every time we pay using our card whether online transaction or even kahit sa mga restaurants, there is always that tendency na makuha nila yung personal details, number, and yung number sa likod ng ating respective cards. That is the reason on why OTP was created; to at least provide one last step of security just to confirm yung transaction.

Good thing OP na naisip mo agad regarding sa scheme nila. Even if there is an institution claiming to know your details and saying na may rewards/bonuses sila, they will never ever ask for your OTP.

Let this be a reminder to anyone na ang mga scammers ngayon ay nag eevolve na. They can definitely create schemes like this one to induce us into believing na isa silang legitimate na institution but in reality mga scammer talaga.
32  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making a long post is not the ultimate on: May 16, 2024, 06:03:24 PM
Holy crap- I mean, I understand that most newbies associate long posts with quality. But in that case, I really doubt that someone would have the patience to even read that huge blocks of texts. In all honesty, I would never in a million years read that kind of long post especially that if he is beating around the bush.

Newbies, always remember that the key to making quality post is not the quantity of texts that you enter. If you can explain your point in a very concise manner that everyone would understand, then that would be considered as "quality" to majority of the members here.

How long the post could be depends on various factors and in certain cases wall of text is needed for a better and clearer explanation of what we try to convey to the users such as guides and Tutorials about something indeed long and will take a few minutes to read the process and understand.

But how to do it is something that they need to know and there are some guides like [GUIDE] A good post/reply and formatting [UPDATED] can help user to post the long posts in better format.

When I see something that's a completely big wall of text then I don't bother read at all.

I agree that the amount of text that you write in a discussion varies per topic.

There are reputable members here who can write huge blocks of text but remains quality when you read it altogether. If you engage in a fruitful discussion with someone on an interesting topic or debate, then expect a battle of words. But if a topic is as simply as asking for an opinion on something, then at least make your point in 2-3 sentences.
33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Be careful with people's money on: May 16, 2024, 05:25:50 PM
There have been many cases like that where people misuse other people's money for their own interests, for example gambling with the money in the hope that they can multiply the money and make themselves rich. Gambling using other people's money is a very stupid act, because gambling is uncertain when you win or lose, and you will most likely lose, so gambling using money you shouldn't gamble with is very risky and should be avoided.

Just to add on what OP mentioned, there are even cases where people would also loan money in order to satisfy their gambling urges. They have this false sense of hope where they think they can hit the jackpot or at least double to triple their initial deposit. But in reality, they only put themselves in a more difficult situation as their debts compound increasingly with each bet that loses in the process.

Using other people's money for your own good is considered theft either no matter where or how you use that money.
It is a very big responsibility to manage someone else's money and belongings because it can be so stressful because it's simply not yours and any small inconvenient that could occur might not be acceptable.

I think that people should look a lot in the background and history of the person they want to trust their money with, even if that person is a relative or a close one.

Gambling addiction might push someone to do such act thinking they are able to double the money they bet with and give back the money they used and earn more for themselves  which is completely wrong and can put that person into a lot of trouble, so it is very best to gamble with your own money.

I definitely agree with your statement.

Not only is it considered theft, but these are signs that a person definitely succumbed to gambling addiction. I also read stories where people would use their own savings and even their tuition fee for gambling. After losing, they become problematic on how they can recover these loses as they are definitely in a very conflicted situation.
34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your slices Luck that would have made you millionaire in gambling? on: May 16, 2024, 04:12:11 PM
And what I understand is that if you really want to be a millionaire through gambling, you only have to increase in your amount that you stake the higher the amount the richer you can in a minutes. I don't know for yours, what's yours?

If you want to become a millionaire in gambling, you have to be VERY lucky to begin with. Sure, the amount that you bet is in proportion to the potential amount that you may win but you must be LUCKY again.

Remember, that in the hope of you winning huge amounts of money in gambling is connected with the amount that you bet collectively- meaning the more you bet, the bigger the money that you are risking in the long run.

At the end of the day, it is not about the amount that you bet but it is the frequency on how regularly you bet. Sure, you may potentially win huge amounts of money but the risk of you losing at the end is so much greater.

35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing all your fortune with just 3 years on: May 15, 2024, 05:30:47 PM
Holy crap- this is just truly heartbreaking to see. Imagine building your own empire on your businesses for only to lose it due to gambling.

This is just a perfect example on how gambling addiction can destroy a person's career- but what happened here is that his whole empire collapsed which resulted to his whole fortune being lost. I just hope that this kind of example serve as a reminder to anyone who is struggling to control their gambling addiction.

Remember, gambling is all about money and that feeling of adrenaline. If you chase for wins in a gambling platform, chances are that you would most likely lose due to the presence of house edge.

Everyone, please be careful with your expenditures in gambling. Make sure that you only exhaust your allocated budget, or if not, create a budget designated for your gambling activities and if you go beyond that budget, make sure to stop and call it a day.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did gambling losses are traps to new game on: May 15, 2024, 04:56:54 PM
He keep on playing the gambling with some loans from our friends circle to manage the 2000 dollars previous loss. But the result is both positive and negative based on his luck. One of my gambling friend said this “Gambling losses are the traps for the gamblers to get into gambling again.”He added when the gambling loss was increases, most of us will do the gambling to recover the old loss.Because no one earning money without work,So our wish will be to balance the old losses in the gambling site.Share your opinion on this.

I have previously stated that I called this the "cycle of gambling" where a player will most likely gambling again regardless of the result of his games.

For example, if a person gambles, if he either wins or losses, he would most likely try and gambling again his luck. If a person won in his games, he would at least attempt again to try his luck and just to see if he would win. If he losses, there is this feeling where they have this need to recover their losses by gambling again.

This urge and temptation are what draw people to stick into a gambling cycle until they are satisfied with their winnings (positive outcome) or if they have already exhausted their resources (negative outcome) for the day.

Did you guys trust on gambling algorithms or do the random betting in the gambling site to check the current luck in the gambling sites…

Well, I trust the casinos on how they handle their algorithms especially if they are a respectable and reputable gambling platform. I am pretty confident that they have all the algorithms within the boundaries set by the respective laws in order to prevent any kind of unfair advantage over its players.
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your favorite to lose slot game on: May 15, 2024, 01:33:40 PM
This time let’s discuss about your favorite to play slot games that gives you losses often times but you keep coming back for more because you are expecting to win big someday after feeding the slot too many bets.

I keep playing Feel the beat slot game of hacksaw gaming because I’m always attracted on the sound effects but I never win anything on this game both bonus and manual slot. This is the only slot game that I play that doesn’t pay more than x200. This shit never good to me but I keep coming like a dawg whenever I saw this game on my suggestion list.

Share your experience. Tell us what’s the slot game feature that attracts you to keep playing.

There's this slot game that is famous in the Philippines where people would just roll slots on different platforms. Each platform has their own unique design but in essence, it is still a slot game. The beauty behind this game is that you can bet for as low as p1.00 ($0.017) and you have the potential to win and at least $20-$50 depending on your luck.

The problem with that game is the betting amount. Many people seem to think that p1.00 is relatively cheap, well it actually is. But this compounds overtime to the point that your $2 worth of bet would be over in about 2 minutes of just playing that slot game.

Well going back to the question, I personally enjoy this slot game given that it is easily accessible throughout the country. Each payment platform offers their own slot games and you can also claim some free spins/bonuses if you reach the minimum threshold of their deposits.
38  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When did you realize you need to be a responsible gambler so you can continue ? on: May 11, 2024, 05:15:20 PM
We all know that we cannot play for a long time without being responsible players; we could go crazy, or we could lose all our money; at some point, you have to realize that you need to play responsibly, so I created this poll and this discussion to pick your reasons and explain it.

In my case, I have to lose a lot of money to realize I have to gamble responsibly if I don't want to break my finances and experience depression, so now I control myself and monitor my expenses, and I'm doing good with it.

I think we can all agree that experience is the best teacher especially in this type of situation.

Gambling is all about chances and odds. The result can either go two (2) directions: either you win or you lose miserably. Sure, there is always that possibility of winning huge amounts of money but remember that there is also that equal chance of you losing the same.

Whenever a person wins in a gambling game, there is this high and adrenaline that they feel. They think that they can experience this feeling and win this amount of money by betting again without discounting the fact that the house always wins due to the presence of house edge.

Personally, I learned more when I realized that I made a huge mistake of betting continuously. I lost lots of money in the process and that regret still lingers from time-to-time. The good thing, however, is that my experience is what made me the person today, which definitely made me more responsible in the process.
39  Economy / Economics / Re: Also consider your mental State of health while investing for wealths. on: May 11, 2024, 04:45:03 PM
Mental health, if not, is one of the most important aspect in order to make rational decisions. If a person is suffering from any kind of mental health, this can impair their judgement thereby making the wrong decisions in crucial situations. This does not only involve decisions when it comes to investment but also in their ordinary daily lives that can affect themselves and the people surrounding them.

Now if a person's mental health is impaired due to circumstances beyond his/her reach, then expect them to be in difficult when it comes to decision-making skills. They may also be dissuaded instead of being motivated, which is one of those important elements when it comes to an investment.

I agree very much that we should also consider our mental health. There are people who are built in a way that they can take any losses or any frustration that investments, etc bring their way. However, there are people who would feel like killing themselves over a loss or something. So I think we should check who we are and know what we can afford to lose so we don’t get into trouble we can bear on our insides.

I agree with your point.

Investment is already difficult to swallow if you see your stocks or any kind of investment plummet on its price. This can actually snowball into something that is far worse- which is taking their own lives. That is why if you are aware that you are suffering from any kind of mental illness, then prioritize it above anything else before it starts crippling to your daily life.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Expertise in Sports and Sports Market Knowledge on: May 11, 2024, 03:37:15 PM
There are two (2) factors that must be discussed here- the knowledge on the sport vs the knowledge on the general betting strategies and applications.

If a person is knowledgeable about a certain sport, then chances are is that they have crucial information that can give them the advantage over the bets. Also, they have a higher chance of predicting which team would win on a given set since they have knowledge and expertise on that given field.

If a person is knowledgeable about the general betting strategies, then they also lower the risks of losing all of their resources and they can also maximize each and every opportunity.

Personally, I would prefer the first category (knowledge on the sport) than knowledge on the general betting strategies since the latter can mostly be studied or explained easily on the internet. On the first category, this kind of information is gained through years of expertise and personal witness of the games on that given sport.
