22  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: New Evga PSU with 16 (!!!) Pci-e connectors on: October 16, 2012, 07:16:06 PM
Here's one for the rig builders - really wish I'd been able to get one a year ago  Cheesy

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1500w-evga-supernova-120-pg-1500-xr-90-eff-80-plus-gold-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-fan-atx

Does 1650W on 230VAC - enough to run a 7x7970 rig with a bit of undervolting  Wink

At £344.58 one might be better off buying several smaller power supplies, name brand 500W and 550W power supplies seem to cost about £40 or £50 or so so one can have 7 for the same outlay in cash.

My first rig used an expensive 1200W PSU... which lasted about 18 months.

Subsequently, I have used multiples of 500W and 550W power supplies without any failures. I have a spare 550W Antec standing by for when one does go down, and have still spent less cash than if I had bought big PSUs.

Takes up lots of space, though.

Nice idea with the redundancy !

25  Other / Meta / Re: Unjust scammer tag on: September 20, 2012, 11:24:54 PM
Short update from me.

Paying this in about 3 years now.

Raize, expect your money fully returned by 2015.

I will continue to send payments out as bitcoins come into my wallet.  Not sure what people are trying to accomplish by continuing to call me a scammer.  I have already received the scammer tag and most people on this forum would have quit paying by now.  My intentions is try and return everyone's bitcoins as fast as I can.
26  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "Avalon" ASIC mining machine, announcement & pre-order start. update:9/19 on: September 20, 2012, 10:31:02 PM
I am the only one that has an issue with parking 1300 dollars somewhere without a product for 6 months it seems.

No you're not. It is risky, no doubt about that. It might pay off nicely, or it might not. If you can't afford to lose the money then don't do it.
+1

You can be sure that ngzang is honest guy and he keeps his promises. Other option is probably to try BFL and there is a big chance for you never to see your ASIC and your money also:)

Betting on Avalon is safe in terms that you either will get ASIC (in case we reach 300 pcs preorder amount) or your money back to the last cent - coin.

Make sure to pay with BTC and not USD ( bad, bad currency ) because that way you are safe if anything bad happens like tornado, hackers from Russia stole our coins, computer crash and we lost all the private keys ... but I am sure nothing like this will happen Wink
27  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OPEN LETTER to Donald, Patrick & Amir RE: Bitcoinica on: September 14, 2012, 10:31:39 PM
If the reason for Amir and co for not distancing themselves from the conference is in fact that it's their own conference aka "Intersango's Bitcoin conference" you shouldn't ask yourself why the conference wasn't cancelled (next necessary step imo) but what the hell you are still doing there to support it.

On an upside, this conference will give people a chance to confront team Intersango with the issue in person. They really must have balls, I'm telling ya.

Indeed.

I can't wait to see them try and act stupid with a camera shoved in their faces ...

Too bad I am not bothered enough to attend their sham conference and do it myself.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking PPCoin Pool - PPS, Variable Difficulty, Pays Invalids on: September 13, 2012, 11:21:19 PM
Any way to see current PPCoin difficulty and a profitability calculator ?

Algo is SHA256 like BTC ? Reward is decreasing every block or something ?
29  Other / Off-topic / Re: Vlad "plots" aginst best freind scammer Matthew N. Wright on: September 13, 2012, 10:47:02 PM
Jesus if all the admins/VIPs/whatevers are going to fuck around as badly as the newbies... wtf are we to do?

A good rule of thumb is to assume anyone with a "VIP" is a scammer

Best thing said in this thread.

VIP = buying confidence = con men most of the time.

-1 for Goat.

I (stupidly) used to think this guy is the real deal and the most honest on the forums for posting so much personal info and working for charity but now ... he is a joke.

Just another pirate shill.
30  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool Operators - PLEASE BAN & BLOCK GPUMAX getwork/proxy access to your pool on: September 13, 2012, 10:22:00 PM
+1 I used GPUMAX and could trace some coins from BTCST wallets to GPUMAX payments.

This is simply a laundry for the pirate, make no mistake about that.

33  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New Mining Protocol Proposal on: September 11, 2012, 11:57:46 AM
After hinting at this for months on BTC Guild, I have released a full spec of the new mining protocol I have been working on with ArtForz.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108441.msg1178526#msg1178526

If you are a mining software developer or pool operator, please take a look at the new spec, and give any feedback/suggestions if you have them.  It is not yet set in stone, though we've gone to great lengths trying to keep it as trim as possible while providing all the features miners expect out of mining software these days.  We've also added some server management features that can greatly assist pools for load balancing and maintenance restarts.

He still living ? I thought he disappeared.

Tell him to come back ... his posts were very helpful just like D&T posts.

Why not just implement this into cgminer since that is the best miner Huh

Nice work anyway. How is this better than slush proposal ?
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking PPCoin Pool - PPS, Variable Difficulty, Pays Invalids on: September 11, 2012, 11:34:16 AM
Any PPCoin mining / profitabilty calculator ?

Is it on BTC-e ? I wanna pump and dump this ...
35  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: September 11, 2012, 11:32:37 AM
What about that private pool he was talking about earlier on ?

I investigated and GPUMAX's main wallet has 47.5 coinbase transactions in it.

Somebody can shed some light Huh

Probably all the "public work" is him trying to freshen his coins ... he pays you 1.2 tainted coins ... he gets 1 virgin coinbase coin without any history.

Excellent !

38  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Letter of concern to the board of BitTalk Media Inc. (MNW 80K Fraud) on: September 10, 2012, 12:51:41 PM
What a load of foolishness this is.

First, that we have an obvious well developed sock-puppet posting this kind of crap. And secondly, that anyone would sign on with this garbage. Bitcoin Magazine without Matthew as the spiritual figurehead, AND THE ONLY STAFF MEMBER DOING FUCK ALL ABOUT PROMOTION is dead. It may hang around to cough up a couple more furballs of issues, but it will be gone before Issue #8. And all the poor saps who paid for a year's subscription will be posting threads calling scammer and meanie and how can we not have a bitcoin advisory oversight board that prevents this kind of heinous crime from happening...

This is bullshit. Checking through the body of work by elux, I am struck how this user only ever chooses to quote one other member. A member whose opinions elux seems to hold in very high regard, one would almost suggest worshipful regard. And coincidentally, that same adored member seems to post with startlingly synchronicity right around the same time elux decides to pen another love letter.

So the Hate Matthew circle jerk is desperately seeking validation by crafting puffery and blowing smoke up everyone's ass in a play to remove Matthew? Gosh, doesn't that just sound like the way we do business around here at the Bitcoin Corral? Always making sure we have somebody to blame when we look stupid, and always believing the fairies that promise us untold wealth. You better hope that the Nigerian 419 scammers never hear about this community, you dumb fucks would start pooling bitcoins to get that $45 billion in gold bullion that is stored in a trunk box out of the Prince's father's office so fast it will our heads spin.

Nice post. +1

How are you so sure they haven't heard yet ? I hear Nigeria will make BTC its official currency to encourage more productive 419ers Shocked
