21  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: August 06, 2021, 11:16:01 PM
~ihaveadhdsoiamsnippingthis~
Gotta say, I love this reply. So simple, yet so ...genuine.

And yeah, I pretty much agree with you. And the audiences for crypto for the most part is going to continue just looking for the A, B and Cs of what you mentioned. I would say very few people of the majority of the youtube population would actually give a shit to learn and understand things properly whilst the rest would always want to watch a 3 min animated video and scram. That is just how it is.

Think of it like how people want to get fit and want to lose 30 KGs/60 pounds per week without hardcore dieting, and without doing cardio and want an easy way out. Same goes with crypto, they just want to understand the basics and voila I want to be a rich bitch millionaire.

I really, like really do think the bitcointalk channel could do insanely well on youtube considering how mainstream crypto is getting. I mean, we are at a point where celebrities and influencers are promoting pump and dump shitcoins. Do we really think this would have happened years ago when bitcoin was at 2k? Probably not.

Right now, youtube is an untapped reservoir for genuine crypto-based videos, and a lot good could come from it. Question is, is the OG crypto community going to do anything about it or not?
22  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: August 06, 2021, 01:19:35 PM
I just saw this now but Oh my! There is big scope for this; if the potential is utilized to its max extent. There are very few good crypto channels on youtube as many have failed so I would suggest research first and then dive in. Crypto channels have been known for having horrible retention rate(for how long does an average user watch your video).

Considering the channel being focused on bitcointalk particularly, I think a banger episode will be to start off from Satoshi and the history of bitcointalk. Not many know how BTT actually came into place, and how bitcoin actually found its community. Sure the community awards is cool and all, but I guess if you're to start a legitimate channel, I really do think starting from Satoshi would only feel right.

Moving forward a lot of content could be split into:

How-to-bitcointalk: Content/videos going around how to use bitcointalk

How-not-to-scandal: This would be a fun idea where you could go over past scams of different extremes uncovered on bitcointalk

Community-shoutouts: vidoes that go around thanking members who have been the core reason for bitcointalk being a fun place for all these years.

studying-sundays: educational content on how to crypto.

Story-saturdays: Cover the stories that happened exclusively on bitcointalk, like: pizza for 10k Bitcoins, Hal Finey, the story of Bruno etc etc

Future fridays: Cover theories on how crypto is to evolve in the future and shut down dumb theories. idk I could come up with more ideas, but how are these for now?

Obviously there could be giveaways, merch, community games etc and even livestreams. I know achow101 does livestreams on twitch sometimes soo you know you know big things for btt. #to-the-moon
23  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase New FUD on: August 05, 2021, 11:14:29 PM
I mean, I don't think Coinbase will get shut down over this lawsuit, most definitely not. Coinbase is doing ridiculously well in the States, in terms of partnership and what not, and a lawsuit for a mere 100k USD won't do shit to them. And that is all there is. FUD will always exist, no matter what you do. Its just how it is, and its how it will always be. The crypto scene is used to it, the newcomers are not [yet].

Okay nvm, I read about the actual lawsuit over here[1], it does seem serious, but cannot fully determine what is to happen lets see lets see. It will be interesting to see how Coinbase's somewhat new partners react to this, I am expecting a snake bite in the ass but who can really say what happens behind the curtains.

Those FaZe people are honestly one of the crappiest "influencers" in existence, heck, probably even like 10x crappier than Jake and Logan Paul. I dislike the latter with passion as well, but at least they don't promote pump and dumps.
HAHAAHHAH oh how doinky-doinky were you about Logan, read: https://www.businessinsider.com/dink-doink-coin-logan-paul-crypto-doge-cartoon-meme-world-2021-7

How's my impression on the thread title? 9/10?
9/10. Subtracted 1 point because of a missing clickbait thumbnail.
You know what, I deserve that. brb, gonna complain about you on r/btc. Im sure some theymos haters will join me in hating another btt user.

Title was 4/10 sorry man, I clicked because I saw it was you creating the thread;)
Am I really being this predictable at this point? Shit me I guess.

I read all the replies; my response:

To people who think this is OK/cant do anything about this; I think right now its only getting worse mainly because these influencers are pulling non-tech savvy 12 year old kids into investing in shitcoins, and since nothing is fuckin regulated when it comes to shitcoins-- you can't call 12 year olds idiots, they are kids they are not supposed to know shit. And there is only so much parents could also do.

I genuinely think these influencers doing pump and dumps should be sued by relevant authorities mainly cause; well its fucking illegal. The people doing pump and dumps before were not any influencers, they were either whales or random people on telegram promoting shitcoins providing "200% profits" on tittycoin or whatever.

The difference now to before is that kids are getting dragged into this and expecting them to know financial literacy just ain't it.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Omg they really DID THIS??? (!NOT CLICKBAIT) on: July 16, 2021, 10:03:41 PM
Tl:dr: Members of gaming organization, Faze Clan: Kay, teeqo, nikan,Jarvis pumped and dumped various shit coins to gain money and also did fake giveaways to themselves to make people think the shitcoins are legit.

An indepth explanation/s: watch these 2 VERY GOOD videos by Someordinarygamers exposing the scam that is SaveTheKids token and how it all went down:

https://youtu.be/MMNeb5qKFyg

https://youtu.be/0SSzCoz_XNc

Basically the kind of shit McAfee and Roger's Ver used to do by using the power of "influencers", and fact of the matter is....it still works on dumb fucks on Twitter dot com. Now the ever so shithead YouTube Logan Paul is promoting "Dink doink". I think that name of the shitcoins alone sounds enough.

When we said we wanted new people to adapt to crypto, and that new people are now coming on board, I only see stories like these being uncovered and it's just funny as fuck seeing people fall for it over and over again. Thoughts?

How's my impression on the thread title? 9/10?
26  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Discussion] Is Blockchain necessary for our future? on: June 25, 2021, 10:29:06 PM
Sometimes "blockchain" is a bit too glorified. It's pretty much just an append-only database. It's just that Satoshi found a really clever way of taking advantage of such database, and created Bitcoin.

And sure, you can use blockchains for other things. But the question is — is it actually necessary? I don't think blockchains should be used for almost everything. Sometimes(or most of the time), it seems quite unnecessary. And while I think there might be other good uses of a blockchain besides Bitcoin, I'm yet to be impressed.
I am on this take, pretty much. Most people just think the word blockchain is so fancy and add in their dumbass LinkedIn bio #BlOcKcHaiNENthuSiasT and don't know a goddamn thing about it.

And besides, if you ask me, the way people have used blockchain until now has just horribly done(except for a few cases), but mostly its just cut copy paste of the same thing over and over again.

Blockchain ain't a solution to everything, but I really wanna see the idea of blockchain being used creatively like how satoshi once did. No one does that shit anymore :/. Mfs go to stackoverflow and github and copy paste the same shit and there ya goo. fuckin buncha donerdicks.
27  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Campaign managers: If I were to make a post tracking service... on: June 18, 2021, 09:49:26 PM
I was initially thinking of hacking up something with *JS frameworks but my web dev skills are horrible so I have opted to use the low-code service Bubble.io to graphically design the front and backend. Apify scrapes the bitcointalk threads so I don't have to worry about that myself, then I use Zapier to make an integration - copying data - between Bubble and each CM's spreadsheet without requiring them to do hocus-pocus or black magic stuff on their end.

Zapier is quite pricey so without payments, I'll be operating at a net loss unless maybe I replace the payment system with a donation or tipping button.
Okay so thing is that you won't just have to pay for zapier you'd also need to shell out on domain, hosting services etc. So if you ask me, it's not worth spending so much on a campaign management bot/service. However, there's room for potential-> I would advice you to use this enthusiasm for building something that bitcointalk actually reaallly needs(like how Vod has bpip and loyce is ai). There's room for a lot of things, it's upto you really on what happens next.

It doesn't even have to be completely related to btt either think how you could use your skills in the crypto market. The potential is endless honestly...
28  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to get news about crypto as soon as possibile on: June 11, 2021, 08:49:27 PM
Found a couple similar to Benzinga pro and Cryptopanic; here:

Scrapes news from various sites all at one place: https://coinspectator.com/

Separates latest news and can be filtered by topics: https://cryptonews.net/

Blockchain aggregator: https://cryptogoat.net/

Another aggregator: https://ccowl.com/

I really like Faws its byfar the best I think, besides Cryptopanic. It covers a lot of news and has a clean UI. Its already been suggested, I think these tools listed should be more than enough for you.
29  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Campaign managers: If I were to make a post tracking service... on: June 11, 2021, 04:57:28 PM
The idea is really really cool; however-> Consider these:

- Campaign managers don't get paid a lot lot, so chances are many managers won't bother to opt for a tool like this. History often repeats itself, bitcointalk has never had a growing and everlasting demand for campaign management bots, so keep in mind that.

- How accurate would your service be? And I am curious about your tech-stack which you would potentially use?

- How would your tool differ from just a normal excel sheet which somewhat automate post counting(Total post count from last week - Post count of this week for instance).

- If you're to make a service, the service must reduce the work of a manager by a greater extent imo. But if the manager has to still manually verify and authenticate things, he/she would definitely think twice before purchasing a service.

I am not sure how helpful it will be but, have a look at this for scrapers and crawlers: https://github.com/BruceDone/awesome-crawler
30  Other / Meta / Re: Is it time to increase the Emojis ? on: June 04, 2021, 08:42:35 PM
Only reason I would want emojis is so that I can post some copy-pastas.

I wanna make this a copy pasta. Permission pls hilarious-senpai 👉👈 uwu 😩😳😫😻

This is one of the most important suggestions for the forum in the last 5 years. Without emojis how are we meant to communicate efficiently? How am I meant to adequately poo-poo someone's idea without a pile of poop emoji? 💩 How am I meant to display sheer shock and awe without the eye lips eye face 👁👄👁. How am I meant to simp or express my utter attraction for someone without multiple heart eyes emojis 😍😍😍. How would I ever initiate sex without the fingerbang emoji 👉👌. How would I ever know someone is horny and wants the D without the cipher of the eggplant emoji 🍆. It's just too important of a feature and theymos needs to get with the times ASAP otherwise I fear it's only a matter of time before we lose the ability to communicate.

But yeah, some emojis would be nice. I could see it go horribly wrong here however, but shouldn't be a deal breaker.
31  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap is collapsed from traffic on: May 21, 2021, 11:01:01 PM

This. Since Binance acquired CMC, it seems that it suddenly became a bit too bloated that it's been taking the whole page to load when you scroll down immediately after opening the page. Even with parts of the page missing like so:

And it's been like this for a while now, not just in peak times.
I don't know bakut the missing parts but the amount of bloated shit on coinmarketcap is extremely annoying. Sucks cause I loveeeee CMC. But oh well it seems coingecko is better might as well give it a shot.

Coinmarket really was pissing me off yesterday during the crash but meh we hodl.
32  Other / Meta / Re: P&S moderator? on: May 14, 2021, 11:37:02 PM
A moderator for each section would be cool let alone Politics and Society, it would rather make things more convenient for global mods. Or perhaps increase in the number of patrollers? Are they even still a thing I have nooo idea.

As for the forum getting negative, bad, etc etc- it's not just the forum. It's happening everywhere. Reddit, Twitter everywhere it breeds toxicity and unnecessary negativity because people still do not know how to take in criticism or anything else for that matter. Can't do shit really.
33  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Dumb newbie, help please! on: May 13, 2021, 07:30:19 PM
Hey,

Good info lads. Yes I was referring to the withdrawal fee. I had a wee look around at other wallets/exchanges. Good Idea to convert from altcoins to Btc.

Will look into it. I found 'Fixedfloat' 0% fees, but it seems to be an exchange not a wallet.

Cheers.
I would really just recommend you to stick to binance or coinbase pro, in contrast to any other exchange, at least right now. Every other exchange sucks ass and I mean that not in a good way.

Also be careful when converting between, some altcoins are rather more complicated as they have multiple dependencies such as "tags" and what not along with address, so be really really careful.

And oh, welcome to crypto world baby!
34  Other / Meta / Re: Whats the point of this website? on: May 07, 2021, 02:47:17 PM
Hi! Welcome!! BTT is a place where everything related to crypto be it technical/non-tech/memes/random stuff is covered here. Its far off better than reddit in terms of conversations, reddit is just pissing booth. Read the rules so you will understand what each subsection is about, and go around, and ask questions. And also what @o_e_l_e_o said.

Ah I just checked his profile page, guess the community kinda chased him off, he hasn't been online since 3rd of May. Truly sad.

I don't think we need to be hostile anymore, if shitposters do come here, the merit system will take care of them. Let's please welcome the newbies with a positive approach hereon forward?
35  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase secures eSports partnerships on: April 30, 2021, 11:54:50 PM
Very fucking cool. As someone who loves eSports, damn this gives me a smile. Who knows, maybe binance will sponsor a CDL team in the future.

A similar story would be the CashApp PayDay, where CashApp x 100 Thieves hosted the biggest UNO tournament, where the winner(CourageJD) won 100k USD in bitcoin in his cashapp wallet[1]. Gaming x Crypto is evolvingggg, and I am all for it.

Right now, the gaming scene is soo into crypto, its heartwarming. I witnessed so many eSports pros talking about crypto, doing a proper research on their investments and what not.

I so badly want the eSports world and crypto world to collide regularly, not just in terms of partnership.

36  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: April 23, 2021, 11:37:56 PM
Holy shit how am I just seeing this what the fuck :[

Question: to those who have the binance card, opinions? Top 3 cards if you have to recommend? Would like a world-wide card kinda thing.

And Is binance fees 9% or 0.9%?
37  Other / Meta / Re: :Bug? on: April 17, 2021, 02:27:41 PM
Your image is visible in the OP as I compose this - on the edit screen.

I'm guessing ip.bitcointalk.org got more aggressive and Theymos decided to drop the remove the image blocking on editing posts (if it's intentional).
Its back to normal now I guess:

Maybe the image was cache'd or something, who knows. Probably not a bug.
38  Economy / Economics / Re: Coinbase reported significant user growth before IPO on: April 16, 2021, 10:50:09 PM
I actually saw their founders post some info on twitter, reading it made me smile hard. Its just one of those things you read and go like damn I saw this grow in front of my eyes(I still hate coinbase kind of)

Read both of these threads: https://twitter.com/FEhrsam/status/1382242839296299011

https://twitter.com/brian_armstrong/status/1382428172273131522

Coinbase, everything it stands for now, was made by two nerds who met on the internet. Holy fuckin shit.

Personally, I want to see where this IPO takes Coinbase. Like you said, binance's expansion is fuckin crazy and they are trying to create a monopoly. Binance aquiring CMC and various other companies in the crypto-world is just the tip of the iceberg. I want coinbase to take a fully-global route. Cause right now, I believe binance still is available in more countries in comparision to coinbase, if I am not wrong? Correct me?
39  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance: What is Wrong and What Could Be Better on: April 16, 2021, 06:38:37 PM
I don't think binance is all that bad? But yeah, like bitmover asked, any particular purpose for contacting customer support when you aren't even their customer technically?

Personally, I would rather choose a live-chat over support-ticket system, but if they do take a long time to respond, maybe yeah they need to figure their shit out.

Also curious, did you contact them here: https://www.binance.com/en/chat ?

I mean if the live chat and emails dont work; join the community channels and perhaps you can get the info you're seeking from one of these channels: https://www.binance.com/en/community
40  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: April 16, 2021, 02:57:50 PM
I wonder why this topic no longer active? It's been so long no one cares about it, though it's always seen as the topic of reference every time someone searches for a manager. Some managers have been inactive for a long time, @pugman, do you think you should update it now?
izanagi narukami, Lauda, notaek and Woshib is no longer active, maybe remove?
I think I will update it yeah. I kinda forgot about it. If you guys can suggest me some new upandcoming managers, I will do my own research and add them to the list.
