81  Economy / Exchanges / Re: excuse me what the fuck? on: February 19, 2021, 11:46:32 PM
I don't know how many times I have sang about HitBTC's obscene withdrawal fees. I used them before but after realizing that their withdrawal fees are way out of the league (alongside yobit) compared to other exchanges, I withdrew all my money and never used them again. Just like I was, you are very lucky that they have never asked you to carry out KYC verification. When they do, be very sure that 98%, you won't able to recover your money.
The KYC procedure is designed to ensure that you just give up on recovering your assets. Just check out their ANN thread and see how many complaints are in there.

Edit:

They only way I withdrew cheaply was through EOS. They still charge 0.01 EOS(~0.05 USD) for withdrawal. Convert all your assets to EOS then withdraw. You can convert them back afterwards to your prefered coin in another exchange/swap service
That is exactly what I was thinking right now, thanks for this regardless!

Quote
I have a question though, I tried to read about it but didn't really get much info. So is the fees charged affected by whether or not you have submitted KYC or whitelisted the addresses in HitBTC?
I haven't found information regarding such exceptions. All the information that I do find goes in line with the previous information shared in my quote. I also share the same warnings that The Pharmacist shared : Their Reddit Sub is filled with complaints, accusations and support tickets that go untanned (so far). If you have considerable funds in there perhaps it would be wise to get them out while you can (and sadly pay the high price ...)
Yeah don't worry I am getting those funds out as soon as possible! Thanks for everyone's help!

I will keep this thread open for a bit in case anyone else wants to add in some valuable point.
82  Economy / Exchanges / Re: excuse me what the fuck? on: February 19, 2021, 10:56:16 PM
~~
Dude, I don't think the fees were THIS expensive couple years ago, like I am pretty damn sure. It wasn't this bad. Like it used to be 10$-20$ at MOST. Now its just disgustingly gross.

I have a question though, I tried to read about it but didn't really get much info. So is the fees charged affected by whether or not you have submitted KYC or whitelisted the addresses in HitBTC?

Jesus, that sounds like something Yobit would do.  0.0009BTC might have been reasonable a few months ago, but right now it's quite a bit of change as you pointed out.

Not sure about CVC, though, and why that withdrawal fee is so high.  One thing I'm pretty sure of is that HitBTC has been shown to be a scam exchange.  I just posted once or twice about them not so long ago as being one of the scam exchanges that Curecoin is listed on.  You might not have used them in a while and might not be aware of how bad their reputation has gotten--and I seriously doubt they're going to lower that CVC withdrawal fee, which is outright ridiculous.
You are right, I haven't used them in a long time. But this is shitty business from hitBtc. To think they were one of the top 10 exchanges couple years ago to now. fucking clowns. 🤡
83  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Name of BTC exchange that was written and advertised by a member here. on: February 19, 2021, 10:45:27 PM
Wrong board, move the topic to the exchanges section. If you don't know how, read: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5265053.0

Nah, this is meta because I'm searching for a specific member of this forum technically; rather than trying to find offsite resource.

All the drama and everything occurred here on this site; not off-site or some 3rd party site.

Tradefortress doesn't seem to be the underage user. As far as I know, this exchange wasn't hacked, but instead it shut down and refunded everyone.
Well it seems like it got moved Tongue

Also, if you're looking for a specific user, then the thread probably belongs to Reputation if I had to guess. Meta is about the forum itself as a software/platform etc, and not about the users of the forum. The reason why your thread probably got moved to exchanges is because your topic is pretty vague.

Also going to need more hints than what you're currently offering. My brain is too doo-doo.
84  Economy / Exchanges / excuse me what the fuck? on: February 19, 2021, 09:29:34 PM
I just opened my hitbtc account to check for my funds I had kept ages ago, only to find out their fees is fucking HORRIBLE???

They are asking me 80$ for withdrawal fees for CVC and 50 USD for btc? Hello what? Its even more worse for some other alts.

Is there a genuine reason behind such a huge fees difference?

Temp solution to anyone who's going through this pain:

Edit:

They only way I withdrew cheaply was through EOS. They still charge 0.01 EOS(~0.05 USD) for withdrawal. Convert all your assets to EOS then withdraw. You can convert them back afterwards to your prefered coin in another exchange/swap service

86  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria led global crypto adoption in 2020 on: February 18, 2021, 11:20:12 PM
I wouldn't say that Nigeria led global adoption for crypto, definitely not. There are more significant factors at play here. The reason why Nigeria even used crypto is because their own currency is dwindling to its own death. They are forced to use crypto in order to survive, at this point. Almost the same goes to Vietnam.

You wanna talk about crypto adaption? Tesla soon potentially accepting crypto would count as crypto adaption. All the 7213 companies who are "impressed" by the current bull run accepting crypto out of nowhere would maybe count as crypto adaption. Nigeria sure is helping towards the overall global widespread but lets be honest; the current state of Nigerian economy with or without crypto is an absolute joke.

Crypto adaption is all based on the impact caused. And tell me how many people talk about Vietnam and Nigerian locals using crypto in contrast to Elon musk's dumb Dogecoin memes on twitter?

I am taking the pessimist route because that is sadly the situation we are all living in.
87  Other / Meta / Re: Do you click on signatures? on: February 14, 2021, 10:34:40 PM
Most of them just blend into the monotony of life unless it's something either truly eye catching or relevant to your interests, though maybe the advertising works more subliminally than we think.
I believe that the purpose of an advertisement may not be making you click it. I don't know about youtube, since I have adblocker and I nearly watch some of them from my smart tv, but once advertisements take place on bitcointalk, the thing changes. I'll talk about ChipMixer, which is the best example.

There are thousands of pages containing posts from ChipMixer participants. Tens of thousands of posts above the ChipMixer ad. Whether you'll click it or not, you know what mixer you'll use if you ever need one. And that's because it is advertised by the most trusted and helpful users of the forum. Every user that will make an account on bitcointalk will find out about ChipMixer sooner or later. Even if you won't click it, as long as you're discussing, you'll continuously read the ChipMixer logo until it's officially "stuck" in your head.

ChipMixer is everywhere, which means that it has achieved the main purpose of an advertisement.
CHIPMIXER SUPREMACY!!!! *evil noises*

Regarding the topic of the thread, I definitely click signatures, it makes me curious you know? Half the time I spent on this forum, I end up clicking on things and get distracted way too easily. It tickles my pickle ok? dont judge. IT IS right there :/

So its more of a personal preference for each person. Like I can assure you that there are people here who click on signatures just to see if the link advertised is a scam/shitiest of the shitcoins/contain malware. Not everyone clicks the site and uses it for what the site is intended for.  At the end of the day, the signatures get impressions which matter quite a lot, so win-win.
88  Other / Meta / Re: Do mods even understand how the forum is supposed to operate ?? on: February 14, 2021, 09:54:46 PM
Explain how it is a rep thread??
Not even gonna bother the rest, but the reason why it is a reputation-based thread is because it has nothing to do about the forum itself, but rather on DT members.

And you're ranting and blabbering, which I think you should stop. You're being a dick in your own arse. do something better in life honestly.

Of course hilarious would move it, just like she would mark bad a report of suchmoon stalking and spamming every thread I make with conclusively debunked and off topic claims and  to stop debating with my trolling posts. Then running away from any debates I attempt  to draw her into. I mean clearly that proven scammer supporter and protector is scared of any real examination into her behavior. (Suchmoon , although hilarious knowingly kept proven scammers on his DT includes list and supported them against members that presented independently verifiable evidence of their scamming so not much better really )

If hilarious says they would do something where I am concerned or not doing something you can be sure the opposite of what they say is correct fair and optimal. So thanks for chiming in to verify I was correct to post it here in meta.

Look pugwash. These are the same non specific terms all imbeciles use to avoid debating specific points.
What blabbering do you want to specifically address?
Go to them now debunk them or field an opposing argument that you're capable of and I'll come and eviscerate it in 30 seconds.

I mean we all know you will not. Because I will pull you apart in public with great pleasure like I do all turds that seek to deny independently variable truths.

Now back on topic.

It's very simple.

1. It is regarding the use of the forums control systems and potential safeguards being implemented
2. It is not about a single person on DT is it?  I mean some topics can be applied to single events but how many " is it okay, is it acceptable,  would it improve the forum, threads are there in meta? Tons because that's where you discuss how to improve the forum.
3. It is about an acceptable precedent for the use of the forums software in general.
4. This has far reaching implications for freedom of speech and whom you can even respond to.

5. I notice there has been a change since I brought this up. Lol slimy weasel, his post history

Yes of course a specific event can spark a debate that is a meta topic. Like a scammer posting an obvious scam attempt on a self moderated thread on the sales board  and blocking others reporting it as such by deleting others warnings. Then someone coming tknmeta and starting a debate about asking should it be acceptable and possible to have self moderated sales threads?

Then some mod going well make a rep thread about the scammer?
No, because j want to start a debate and suggest changes or create precedents than have great benefits for the entire forum and all of its members.

Do you get it yet.

Sure I could make a rep thread if I only wanted do specifically address that specific member and that specific event in isolation. I dont.

No more mr nice guy. Everytime I see clear abuse of the trust system and the dilution of legitmate and valuable warnings.
I'm going to make a lot of debates and specific discussion on them as to how they effect the entire forum and what improvements and safeguards can be put in place to ensure there is an improved standard of free speech and equal and fair opportunity. This will help the forum expand and grow. Nobody wants to join unless is a reasonably fair place to contribute and you're allowed to speak to who you wish.

Presenting on topic independently verifiable valuable truths must not be punishable.
If it is going to be tolerated and supported I'm going to make sure there is no excuses like oh well I never knew that kind of thing was taking place.

So pugwash I hope at this point you start to get the idea that your reply made about as much difference to this community as your entire membership here. Zero. Let that sink in. Nothing here of any real consequence would be any different should you have never joined.

Now, you may thank me for donating my precious time in providing you a both valuable and accurate appraisal of your worth. With careful reflection and a lot more help from myself, then perhaps you could make a valid contribution albeit a very small one.

What has : post your highest merit score or hey I'm a hero member now, got to do with meta? Unless you say hey I'm a hero member now and I found I had to eat a lot of ass and look the other way of a ton of shady shit from merit sources and DT to get here.  How can we prevent others having to eat so much ass and colluding with things they see are clearly wrong just to level up their accounts in future?
Then that would be discussing how to help and improve the forums software and control systems and make the forum a far better place conducive for growth and success not a broken corrupt echo chamber that puts new members off from joining due to the lack of instant financial gratification.

Let's face it the lure of bitcointalk over reddit, Twitter etc is that average people and even below average talented people could come with nothing and make some coin. I mean obviously not the super below average verging on retarded members that have been here years and still have to spam sig for dust. But the majority.

Get the merits applied. I like helping you guys but dont be so ungrateful.

ew go suck your mom

Also, since potentially affected users lost against FomA in the competition to be admitted, them being accepted would technically mean CM would be paying for posts of inferior quality to those of FomA. Tongue

Counter-hypothetical: what if FOMA didn't cheat and made 120 posts per week with one account providing extra free advertising to CM, who could then hire one or two other users with the same budget and get even more advertising. That's basically how it works with honest participants like LoyceV who often exceeds the 50 post count by a large margin.
Yeah so Loyce can I hire you? You'are AI anyways so to speak. So technically, you won't cheating since you are no human. Thoughts?

Do you know what's even more ironic? I have always liked exstasie but I didn't really enjoy reading figmentofmyass's posts, it's "incredible" how one person may seem like a few, he indeed did a better job than "Kevin in the movie Split".
If I remember correctly, I particularly only had back-and-forths with exstasie and thought he was a one-up dude, pretty great and overall very chill. IT really sucked, things BTS weren't exactly so. But anyways, its a good thing, cause now we have new pARTICIPANTS! FELLOW CHIPMIXERS! So YEAHH!! excited for them!
91  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: An interesting thought about spending signature campaign payouts on: February 05, 2021, 11:28:32 PM
So I was thinking about what people do with the BTC that they get from signature campaigns and converting it to fiat.
There are a few places (Coinbase comes to mind) that do not like BTC that comes from online gambling and will close your account because of it.
There are others that may or may not keep some track of what they think are "tainted" (I hate the expression) coins.

So, if you are in a campaign for a casino or if you are one of the ChipMixer people, do you keep your payouts sequestered a bit from coins you may want to convert to fiat one day?

Just bouncing this around in my head, no idea if anyone else thought about it.

-Dave

Well essentially the idea is to separate campaign payments/casino money from the rest, and if there come a scenario to withdraw said money to fiat, I'd probably just mix the coins through chipmixer and then withdraw from a P2P site like localtbitcoins/localcryptos/bisq.

Interestingly enough, I used coinbase before, and I received a warning i think(?) that I had received funds from a gambling site, so I withdrew everything immediately and never used coinbase again IIRC, I am not sure. I am getting old my brain is NOT remembering things anymore :/

Also stopped using centralized KYC sucking exchanges like coinbase/bittrex/poloniex/hitBTC since a long time. Thanks to o_e_l_e_o I now know how decentralized shit works.........to an extent.

I won't lie but i loved conversations with exstasie/figmentofmyass/squatter. They were extremely useful and helpful users of bitcointalk.

...why WHY did you have to cheat with alts  AngrySad

This fiasco reminds of the whole warningsigns situation, HE WAS SUCH A GOOD POSTER. He scammed condoras and ran away Sad. Fuck man they were some of the elite level posters of BTT. why am i saying they, ITS A SINGLE PERSONkh grhjscbjakd

yeah, I know, but bbc codes look really, really messy. I didn't really look into all of that, just a thought about html popped into my mind.
If you wanna learn how to make signature codes with BB code, here is a link that might be helpful to you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1727100.0

Don't bother with doing it HTML and then converting, you are just going to waste your time.
95  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitPay -- KYC is here! on: January 29, 2021, 09:52:22 PM
What a nightmare. Any possibility of buying a pre-paid mastercard or similar with bitcoin and using that instead?
Yeah not possible either. motherfucking cunts.

As an interesting point. If you have the BitPay Mastercard you already gave them all the info they need about you.
So, if you have wanted to ability to spend crypto with a card, and get cash back at some places like I discussed in another post about the card, then you have already KYCd yourself to them.

Same with a lot of gift cards, if you use an app to redeem them for anything.

Think about it, I go to Bitrefill to get myself a DunkinDonuts card, if I add it to my app to order my coffee and donut then I have KYCd myself. If the government is looking for me it's just and extra step they have to go though. Same with Chipolte, T-Mobile, or just about any other card you get.

it depends on the app. if you're loading amazon gift cards onto your account, then yes, you've generally already been KYC'd. you're tied to a physical address and likely have registered other payment methods that can identify you.

lots of other retail apps (target, starbucks, chipotle etc)---dare i say, most---collect various PII from your device i'm sure, but they don't require any personal information to load and pay with gift cards. if you use them only in brick-and-mortar stores like cash and do not link your app/account to a physical address or payment methods, i don't think you've KYC'd yourself.
Yeah but usually when you buy gift cards, you don't give out your address/Identication documents(Passport/drivers license etc), so you aren't fully KYC'd, no? Sure, it is possible to find out some information with your name etc, but not everything. It is a gamble at the end of the day.
96  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitPay -- KYC is here! on: January 22, 2021, 11:28:43 PM
Some gift cards they are selling have strangely high markup pricing. My guess is they sell those gift cards in a low enough of a volume that costs associated with procuring the gift cards is so high they need to charge more.

I would think Netflix and Amazon would not meet the above criteria though.
Yeah, ALL of them are like with an insane markup price. So not worth it .

That's the price you pay for not living in the US. Don't you know we're the only country that matters!? (/s)

There is a thread of other gift card providers here: Gift cards providers. Perhaps you could find one with better pricing for your region.
I shit you not, all the gift card providers in my region give such insane markup price, i might as well just use my credit card for it. Hoping for it to change. Cries in pain.

<insert twitter pain meme here>

97  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your price expectations for 2021 on: January 21, 2021, 11:57:32 PM
Who says markets have to make sense? As the old saying from Keynes goes: "the markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent." Tongue

Of course, there will eventually be another bear market, given that markets are cyclical. I just have a difficult time seeing it happen in the short or medium term. The Fed is being very careful not to let the markets falter, even if it means creating an asset bubble.
Well, I don't know, the market seems to be going in a different direction, at least temporarily. The price crashed by 10% percent in a day, so ionno buddy.

I get your point, however it feels at least a little bit that the bubble is breaking.

If the US sneezes, the world catches a cold. Remember that. I'm not in favor of American exceptionalism, but that's the world we live in. Other central banks are also mimicking what the Fed is doing, albeit in smaller amounts.
Yeah but for crypto-market, it is quite different i feel. This ain't no Wall Street, the volatility here is worse. Regardless of what central banks are doing or mimicking, they cannot control the market not even if their mom wanted to do so.
98  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your price expectations for 2021 on: January 16, 2021, 04:06:37 PM
Bear market? What bear market?! LOL! Everything is at or near ATHs.

Your sentiment just proves my point. There is a wall of worry and the market is going to keep climbing it. Ongoing fiscal stimulus (at least into year end) is just fuel to the fire.
Yes but in the world we live in, despite financial stimulus, it wouldn't make sense for everything to just keep going up. Right now, bear market or the concept of bears is pretty much irrelevant, but it will be back.

Honestly, $300K or bust. Tongue
Damn, that is a prediction prediction. Mans ouuhere'.

Omg, i didn't even know about that thread, gonna read through it brb.
99  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitPay -- KYC is here! on: January 15, 2021, 11:54:24 PM
if i can't get amazon gift cards through the bitpay wallet anymore, the only other consistent option will be bitrefill, and they charge a pretty big markup.
What prices are BitPay charging for their cards? I've never found Bitrefill prices to be that expensive. At the moment, a $500 Amazon card works out to around $503 worth of bitcoin, but with the 1% reward that they offer that comes out at $498. You can even get up to 5-6% back on some other retailers, which makes their cards work out pretty cheap indeed.

Another use from the BCash subreddit seems to be reporting the same thing recently. Using BitPay to try to pay for food delivery and being met with KYC demands - https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/ksjbld/bitpay_now_requiring_full_kyc_info_to_pay_for/
Weird. In my region at least, its pretty darn expensive. For 100 USD of Amazon card, I have pay around 125-133 USD$ worth of btc. Same goes for netflix and other gift cards, I would have to pay 25% more of what the actual value of the gift card is. feelsBadMan.

Either I am incredibly wrong somewhere, or its just my region pricing.
100  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins.com after locking my Bitcoins my login history got deleted on: January 15, 2021, 11:05:35 PM
What do you mean log in history? Proof of ownership shouldn't be an issue if you can still access your account. If what you mean is you forgot your log in details like password, you can still recover it thru the "Forgot Password?" option. Did Localbitcoins disabled your account? Please provide more clarity about your issue.

Yes they suspeneded my account without reason. They said unauthorizedlogin but that is not true.
Yes I can still log in, I already make video and screenshots, but I would like to have a better proof.

Because LBC delete inactive accounts, I am afraid they also deelete my account and keep my Bitcoins.
Have you provided kyc for your LBC account? LBC doesn't let you trade anymore unless youre KYC verified. So that is why. The moment you give all your documents, your account will be unsuspended.

Question is, is it worth giving KYC? Probably not.

But how much money is locked in your account, then its up to you to decide if you want to provide kyc.
