921  Other / Meta / [PARODY] The Infinity Snap. Bitcointalk edition? on: July 13, 2018, 10:48:02 PM
I came across this reddit section known as reddit.com/r/thanosdidnothingwrong and what the moderators did there is, ban half of the accounts in that reddit subsection. There were approx 650,000 users and 325,000 users got banned.

It's time for bitcointalk to do so. An initiative for a handful of users, to go to the the main shitposting sections, start reporting threads there, and mods to start deleting/banning and destroying the hopes of shitposters?

Thanos theymos, snap your finger, destroy the accounts. Ruin the life of shitposters. You don't want to bring in restrictions, don't. Just ban those who deserve to be. Hire some voluntary mods. For a few hours. Get your infinity gauntlet ready(with the 6 infinity stones).

Any voluntary users up for this? For binge reporting?
922  Other / Meta / Re: "PrіmeCоreICО Dashboard" Spam flooded the forum. Bots... again. on: July 13, 2018, 10:44:35 PM
This is happening every day with a number of different threads. I've been trying to report as many as possible, but I think we need to look at imposing restrictions. Even though I'm not a fan of that approach it doesn't seem like the current staff can handle it, and it wouldn't be as simple as adding a few more to fix it.
I sort of have a solution to this, but only at the expense of other users and mods time. If both of them agree to, we can do a lot of damage to shitposters. The idea is really simple(doesn't take a genius to figure it out actually). But time consuming as hell. So basically gather a few bitcointalk members, go to random boards and start binge reporting. Like for an hour or so. That might actually help a lot. It may seem like a stupid idea but it might just work. Its time to bring in the Infinity war parody. Instead of snapping thanos's finger, let mods smash the nuke button. If reddit can do it, so can we.
923  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why is Bitconnect - Deposit Bitcoin service disable on: July 13, 2018, 10:30:48 PM
They shutdown the whole "trading bot" fake system they had - where the user sent them BTC in exchange for BCC - but they never run away or just shutdown the website. Instead, they gave every user his "staked" BCC back (and kept the Bitcoin lol). So, technically, the user got their money back. The only issue is that the BCC coin crashed from $400 to $0.04, so everybody got bags of a worthless coin, while they kept all the BTC invested.
Holy fucking wow. Just imagine those who had been mining BCC all this while, they got some real profit there. Didn't bitconnect say something like they are gonna be gone forever, they will close their platform and whatnot? I want to know if they are still around.
There's a class action lawsuit going on about them. If any victim wants to participate, Go here: BITCONNECT CLASS ACTION.
They recently added youtube as one of the defendants. I suppose it would garner more public attention since this is youtube we're talking about. I'm kinda looking forward to what will happen next.

Actually bitconnect was a blatant scam. Imo even people who literally lacks knowledge about cryptocurrencies would have known it as long as they would act based on sensible reasons.
Interesting. Getting youtube as a defendant is no joke. Bitconnect would probably win the lawsuit, no matter how big of a scam it is. Prove me wrong please.
924  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Morph - Multi Coin Wallet (BTC, ETH, XRP, NEO, LTC, XLM, LTC + MORE) on: July 13, 2018, 10:11:17 PM
Wow. Seems cool, I'll check this app in a few hours or a little later, but like the concept already. Are you planning to add an exchange support? Like using shapeshift or changelly within the wallet, for even better use?

About the backup, are they stored on the user's device? Or are they stored in the data center? And I would like a web version of the wallet.  Smiley
925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 13, 2018, 09:55:13 PM
Did you guys hear about the post-match beef that the England fans are complaining about? They want Croatia disqualified. Mostly because Rebic wasn't sent off after getting 2 yellow cards. And the fact that Vida actually played after a video of him saying Glory to Ukraine got leaked and whatever bullshit that was ,was gonna get him banned but yet he played. England fans are also not happy with the referee because Lovren didn't get a single yellow card in the entire 120 minutes.

So it seems like, everything but football is coming home. And wow did I underestimate Croatia a little too much.
926  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: All Porn Sites For BTC on: July 13, 2018, 09:43:27 PM
That could be true but those who have been in the industry for a long time most likely are getting decent pays ($$$) unless they're nuts to love their job so getting such small fee is not a big deal
It is. I have heard a lot that people do almost anything for money, especially in countries like US. And there are way more websites than what is listed on the OP, accepting crypto. I mean who wouldn't accept crypto, its better than paypal, because of irreversible transactions. I even see streamers on twitch accepting crypto.
927  Other / Meta / Re: Full Member Acc. Bitcoin Luxury Marketplace locked by Theymos, is that a scam? on: July 13, 2018, 09:38:26 PM
Usually when accounts are compromised, users are supposed to give a bitcoin signed message or PGP signed message that they had previously staked on this forum. So unless you provide enough proof, theymos or anybody won't be able to help you out here. Also do know that, even when users provide fully legitimate proof, their account remains to be compromised.
928  Other / Meta / Re: Do you consider this as begging? on: July 13, 2018, 09:30:14 PM
I appreciate your insight about this. However, isn't it much worse in PT than in a post? It is as if he/she is showing the text whenever he/she goes.
No, I don't think so. Begging addresses and ref links aren't allowed in posts, but they're fine in signatures or personal texts. I don't really see an issue with the reminder in their PT, but I think it's largely pointless. If you make good posts you'll probably get the merit anyway, but I think it's likely to have a counterproductive effect and many people won't merit after seeing the message.
I'm not a merit source so not to big a deal but ding ding ding on the bold.  Honestly if I saw a post from a user with this it would absolutely make me think twice about meriting his posts.  TBH it would take an above average post (IMO) to get merit from me with that info flying high!
Call Jet Cash, he will make you think 100 times, and create a thread about it, and ask if its okay to merit the person accused or not.  Grin

There are people much worse than this guy here, they are sending PMs to high ranked trusted members for merit. That is what begging would mean, this is not begging.
929  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Localbitcoins freezing accounts for no reason and no response from support on: July 13, 2018, 09:24:08 PM
I logged in right now and I checked, everything was fine, they are asking me to read the new Terms and conditions. But this seems scary, I have some money in there, so I better move it. I don't want LBC to be the next bittrex/poloniex. Selling bitcoins would become a real life nightmare, if that happens.

What the fuck? I handed over my documents, handed in selfie holding a signed paper with date and I being near my computer and they verify my account and now my account disappeared? what the hell is happening?
Calm down. Check if your Caps Lock is on or not. Try the forgot password method. Or try using the next possible set of passwords. Something must click. They cannot make your account disappear.
930  Other / Meta / Re: Limit to new accounts every month on: July 13, 2018, 09:08:41 PM
PS: I think that You are not a new member, You previous account must have been banned and here you resurrect again with a cute little trick!
According to the quoted message you must have doing bounty hunting for a while! Please correct me if I am wrong!

Admin please when will the old spreadsheet going to be updated? Its been a month now but I have not seen anything. Thanks and hope to hear from you.
He called a campaign manager an admin, he is a jackass. Let him be, he will eventually get banned by breaking some rules. Wink

@kitty94, I see you have a lot of potential, stay around here, you just might do some good stuff around.

As for OP, why do you have to come up with such ideas without thinking it beforehand? Are you doing this for merits? You don't have to steep down this low, just be yourself. This idea isn't the best, and shouldn't be implemented.
931  Other / Meta / Re: Global Moderators fired? on: July 13, 2018, 09:02:48 PM
Og, can you post your report history,as in how many posts have you reported? Keep things a little transparent. Wink

LOL, yeah let's appoint someone who's using red walls of trust to settle personal quarrels. What could possibly go wrong with that...
Yeah that is not going to happen anytime soon, I hardly think anybody is going to be appointed, since theymos has to eventually decide on who will be appointed, we can only run polls or keep suggestions coming in.

Personally, I don't think anyone who has a lot of enemies should be part of the moderation team, be it for anybody.
932  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lesson Learned !!! on: July 13, 2018, 07:34:10 PM
I may be not the one to talk about this

You got that part right, you are not in a position to have any opinion on this matter or similar cases, maybe you don't know it but let me explain it to you. merit distribution is manual because we were supposed to stop account farmers, but there are too many accounts already registered so the only thing merit helped to stop is preventing more account farming. somebody who asks for a few merits is not going to farm accounts with it, therefore tagging them to show them as if they are scammers is not right.
OP could be a newbie with no experience, instead of tagging them with red, tell them to stop asking for merits or just tell them to fuck off, telling them to fuck off would require less effort than leaving a negative feedback. if you are a merit source and don't want to be bothered with these situations, ask somebody else to take your place.
And you're not in the position to tell people what they should and what they shouldn't do.
933  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lesson Learned !!! on: July 13, 2018, 05:08:15 PM
I have never intended to spam or spammed or even given wrong suggestion to anybody but I HAVE TO LIST IN BITCOINTALK WITH RED NEGATIVE TRUST STATUS.  .
Funny you say that:

If you get into good project, the airdrop and bounty is a free coins that can give you much greater return.  Just like Ontology airdrop was valued around $7k.  So like investment, chose good project for airdrop.
If adopted correctly and with good knowledge and widespread use, cryptos are obviously better than fiat where you can control your own money.
Smart investor are not those who predicts the market but those who has ability to move with market.  Prediction most of the times comes opposite like when large number of people are expecting or predicting something will happen, it usually happens in other way.  So, I think smart are those who has an ability to move with market up and down.
Yes. We are still in initial phase and has a long way to go.  If you are good enough to good crypto which has big future potential and with a little bit of luck, you can have enormous multiplies of your investment in some years.
Crypto progress is in steady way, the enormous gains during winter can be called a spikes.  If you are expecting more than it can deliver, it will certainly depress you, but if you are accepting the progress and deliver, it is satisfying.  It is progressing steady.

And good luck with getting your neg tag removed, because it is not gonna get removed. Begging for merit is prohibited.
934  Other / Meta / Re: ICO thread being bumped by potential alts on: July 13, 2018, 05:02:24 PM
Either they are alts or they are paid to shill. This might be the working of the new autoreplybot. Only thing that can be done here on your side, is report. Or message any global mods/preferably mprep since he is the head mod of the section, and explain your case.
935  Other / Meta / Re: Global Moderators fired? on: July 13, 2018, 04:59:15 PM
Does anyone have a link to the latest post reporting stats? I would imagine Welsh and LoyceV are up there near the top. Shouldn't be any harm in assigning them to some shitposting megathread board, perhaps for a trial period.
I haven't seen fresh reporting stats in a while.
This is mine:
Code:
You have reported 3475 posts with 98% accuracy (3181 good, 66 bad, 228 unhandled)
I think I report larger number of usernames in Meta threads than I report individual posts.

And as much as I like the endorsements, I don't think I'm very likely to become a Mod. I've seen much younger accounts with much less activity than me as Mod, but they're active on local boards. I'm not really active on any of the big spam boards.
I do know I've had a hand in getting a few thousand spammers banned though, so that's nice Cheesy
Its going to be really tough for you, especially after knowing Welsh has reported 36,000+ posts Embarrassed( have a total of 100). I have seen eternalgloom being interested on moderating Altcoin section, but I don't know how much he has reported or anything at all. Any other recommendations?

I don't think polls are the way to go and are incredibly biased. People should be made staff on the willingness to report accurately and there are probably several good candidates who have thousands of reports between them.
Since, you're a global mod, you should be knowing on who reports a lot, and based on the highest number of reports by users, a poll can be run, on who fits the best in the category? Also, is there a way to make polls available only for Members/Full members and above? So that the abuse could be more or less be avoided.
936  Other / Meta / Re: Global Moderators fired? on: July 13, 2018, 01:32:15 AM
Because of this, I can only conclude that the needs of having more mods in this forum is a must thing to do. I have seen a lot of good members in this forum who are not biased. Why not make them a mod?
By the way they are acting towards this forum. We can easily say that they will surely not reject the offer?
What is actually making them not to be on that position?
Theymos has posted about this recently. Well, not directly, but you can definitely link the two together. He stated that its not a problem with financing or hiring/delegating users with more responsibilities to take the workload of himself, and others, but the trust that this requires.

Just because someone is unbiased doesn't mean they'll be good for the forum.

So basically this is all about how trustworthy this members are? Is theymos actually referring to how much trust can he put to this certain members? Or the trust system can actually be the key for theymos to decide if this certian members are capable  to be on that position. Because  if the trust system is enough then they are actually a lot of them who are not just having such a high trust rating but also been actively reporting.
Not the the trust system. That thing is doodoo. Probably whom he really trusts, amongst other things.
937  Other / Meta / Re: Require a small amount of merit to become a Junior Member on: July 12, 2018, 11:51:43 PM
Not a bad idea, especially when the hot-selling new autoreplybot has arrived.
Well I have never really understood why the amount of Merit needed to level up, increases along the way. Maybe I am missing something but I'd say that in a way it's more logical to decrease the Merit requirements along the way up, as I'd assume that people who are here, stay here and - as a consequence of quality posting - level up, have proven their "qualities" to the forum.

At the same time, bots, spammers and scammers will give up if they need to have for example 75 Merits to move from Junior to Member (while Activity and Time also remain taken in account).

If you set the bar high from the beginning, you will have guaranteed high-quality members on this forum, starting already as low as from Junior or Member ranking.
Dude. Let the merit requirements be as is. There are still loopholes to ranking up, like account sales, merit sales, merit abuse et al. The merit requirement is the basics of an hierarchy. Higher the rank, higher the amount of merit required.
938  Other / Meta / Re: What happens if someone copies sig code for phishing on: July 12, 2018, 11:45:06 PM
Case 1: The thread starter would be negged by DT members and would be banned(possibly). The users won't get negged or banned, its hard to identify phishing links in signatures, and lot of them don't know what that means.

Case 2: If the users know about the phishing links, they'll be banned and negged.

Everything is subjective here, it depends on a case by case scenario.
939  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mdayonliner what comes around on: July 12, 2018, 11:40:45 PM
I don't about the ponzi, but H&co tags anybody with little or no experience offering their escrow services here.

mdayonliner, I just have one thing to say: A lot of people became naive and acted stupidly in the past, when they saw money, and everything went from bad to worse. Just don't get too involved in fucked up cases, some things are just better than money. Be honest with yourself, think wisely in what you want to get yourself into.

I am not sure, if people are really that angry at you for busting them for merit abuses, but seeing what has happened in the past, this could be it. Like Yahoo said, don't get yourself too involved, this might bite you in the back really bad. You can do a lot for this forum, in other ways, like spreading knowledge, which is the core reason this forum was created for.

I have read a lot on this forum, on how fucked up things have got, seen aTriz being naive, Master-p scamming people, Goat attacking theymos, Cyber pinoy going after Gleb Gamow because Gleb busted him, TF paying QS 20 bitcoins to sue Vod, the Zeroxal case, TMAN vs OgNasty, Owlcatz vs OgNasty, Twitchy Seal vs Ognasty,  Timelord2067 accusing Tomatocage of random people , Quickseller escrowing for himself , escrow.ms getting arrrested and then people calling Vod a pedophile. I can go on and on, but this is just to show what you want to get yourself involved into.

I'd also point out that coming here and immediately busting scams doesn't necessarily make a person trusted--it's a good thing, yes, but it's not an indicator of whether someone can actually be trusted not to scam themselves.
Warningsigns comes to my mind. Its really sad on what he did, it was the least expected. And also not to forget Master-p.
940  Other / Meta / Re: Global Moderators fired? on: July 12, 2018, 11:05:21 PM
I have been told by an extremely reliable source (I can't reveal the source but he's red, has two horns and a long pointy tail) that digaran is a sure bet for our next global moderator where he will make thousands upon thousands of dollars a day and sit high on a perch right next to theymos!!!
Hey this was supposed to be kept confidential! Not cool....your inability to keep secrets has been noted.
Don't worry. This just stays between me and my alts. No one will know about it.  Cool

How many boards only have a global mod assigned to them?

I've noticed since the new reports page is available that when I report a newbie that all moderators can deal with the report is usually handled very quickly but when I report a Jr. Member or above it often takes many hours or sometimes even a couple of days to get handled. That's what I'm basing my opinion that the global mods are overworked on.
I would say a few boards are managed by Global mods(Bitcoin Discussion, Marketplace).

Does rank really make a difference here when it comes to reporting? I can only see this happening, when newbies are required to be nuked(which all staff can do), and normal can't ban Jr. Members and above.

I don't think new mods need to be found to replace everyone that leaves or are removed, but Rickbig was made a Global a few months back and he probably covers both their workload as he's very active in moderating. As I've been saying for years though, workload should be distributed around better. There's been no dedicated mod of big boards like Bitcoin Discussion for years and that certainly could do with it's own one. The alt coin section is getting swamped now and mprep was always overloaded as it's a huge board, but now that section is getting worse since he become a Global and doesn't have enough time to dedicate to it.
I am thinking, if there is inadequate distribution of workload which seems to be the case, how about running a poll to vote for new staff members?

The boards that do need staff are: Economics,Trading Discussion, Bitcoin Discussion, and the whole Alternate Cryptocurrencies section.

Remove the global mods and Cyrus from all the boards they are managing alone, and put someone/s else to handle the board. That way, global mods would be able to work much smoothly. Because having their own board/s to manage, and handling other boards and issuing bans and handling PMs is a fucking pain in the ass.

I do know that theymos has trust issues on who he has to hire for staff, but there are users who actually care about this forum, and there isn't much to lose for both sides(theymos, and the staff he hires). Why not just hire some volunteers and see how things work out. Then make those volunteers a permanent staff. Just like the internships. Change needs to happen, or things would continue going awry.

If new mods are not being appointed, then posting restrictions will need to be applied to new and junior members. Some members have suggested the creation of 'mod bots', and maybe they could be created to handle newbie and junior reporrts.
Restrictions are not required at the moment. And there are bots handled by mods, they just don't work anymore.  That seemed to be the case for achow101's bot, don't know about Mindless Electron.

If there are sufficient mods, there would be no requirement for restrictions. Money is not the problem here. Trust is. Theymos said about the trust issue thing in December, its 7 months already.
