Alyssa Healy is now the No.1 batter for the ODIs after winning the Cricket World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament award. The Australian team, even its individual members, are unstoppable since they have devoted decades to women's cricket. Their success shouldn't come as a surprise, but it's inevitable. Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand continue to lead the bowlers' and allrounders' charts, respectively, throughout the Women's World Cup tournament. As the nation that used to lead in women's cricket, other countries should pay as same attention.

Alyssa Healy deserve to be player of the tournament "The 32-year-old Healy smashed 509 runs - including two hundreds and two half-centuries - across her nine matches at the World Cup, and at an intimidating strike rate of 103.66." Source
While in bowling department its England Sophie Ecclestone who stand at no 1 with 21 wickets in 9 matches, followed by Shabnim Ismail of SA with 14 wickets in 8 matches.

His performance completely justified the price-tag paid by KKR. Without him, they would have lost two valuable points. And feels bad about Daniel Sams. He was OK until that particular over when he conceded a massive 35 runs. Now everyone will blame him for losing the match. BTW, did anyone noticed the performance from Dewald Brevis? I heard a lot about him before the start of this season and he was amazing yesterday. He got out in an unfortunate fashion, but scored some valuable runs for his team before that.

Cummins main role is a bowler but he gave away 49 runs in 4 overs and took two wickets. For a bowler these are worst figures but he compensated these runs with his batting. Australia really have depth in there batting even there no 8 or 9 can bat and same was done by Cummins. His price is just 7.25 crore, which IMO is to low with player of such level.

Umpires are also humans and sometimes they make mistakes. But that doesn't mean that Bangladesh was at the receiving end everytime. I can also list a number of occasions, when they benefitted from these mistakes. All this drama is a diversionary tactic to take attention away from their batting failure. Can you imagine this? 10 of their batsmen got out for 53 runs. And who took the wickets? Two spinners - Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer. For heaven's sake Harmer was not even considered for selection for a long time, because he decided to go Kolpak a few years ago.

I am not surprised to see Bangladesh getting out on 53, they are completely capable of doing this blunder. If umpiring is the issue then how they won ODI series? Everything is fine when you win and you blame umpires when you lost. There were two lbw and one caught behind where you can say umpires can do some manipulations rest are all fair dismissal including clean bowled or caught at slips.

Australia is, was, and will be one of the best teams in cricket. and the system of Australian Cricket beats everyone else.

I think now we can understand why Pakistan was trying to go for draws in the test matches. They knew that they are not as strong as Australia in the test match.
Australia did really well in the test format, also the ODI format too.

I was also really amazed by the confidence that Australia had shown in the last test match, now there is only one T-20 to go and I think it will be a 50-50 about who wins.

Pakistan is as good as any best team in the world. Two matches went for draw since Pakistan proves equally good as Australia and blame was given to pitch. You probably didn't saw the ODI series, Pakistan won the ODI series including there highest ever chase of 348. In ODI series, Pakistan was way ahead of Australia.

Well to be honest DRS can't be manipulated and host broadcaster has no control on DRS system. Independent body, i guess ICC manage all the DRS review.

Dean Elgar did look out to naked eye but you have to trust the technology. So IMO Indian players specially KL, Ashwin, Kohli looked like a bunch of idiots at that time. Particularly KL "" Whole country playing against 11 guys" statement and Kohli screaming at stumps like a child was top notch meme content lol.

LOL.. to be honest, it is pretty stupid to complain about a technology that is as advanced as the DRS. And the less said about the BCCI, that better. They are always late to implement technological innovations. When the DRS was first introduced, all the boards except the BCCI approved it. The opposition from the BCCI meant that it was implemented much later in international matches. And similar technologies are being used in other sports (VAR in football for example) and no one is stupid enough to blame the technology for their defeat.

Yes in early days BCCI was the one who was not in favour of DRS despite being a country that has huge IT exports. I dont think DRS cant be manipulated by the broadcaster. We saw similar incident in 2011 semi final when Saeed Ajmal decision was over turned by DRS, umpire Ian Gould still firmly stand on his decision of out. Can someone share details of who controls the DRS, is it something patent or every broadcaster has its own DRS system.

^^^ What makes the Australian women's team so unstoppable? If the answer is WBBL, then England is also having a women's league that is even more star-studded and organized (the Women's Hundred). One reason can be the interest shown by CA for the women's game. During the past few years, the Australian board has spent a lot of time, effort and money in to the women's game. The ECB wasn't that excited about women's cricket and the less talked about the subcontinental teams that better. I would say that CA was the only board that gave equal opportunities to both men's and women's teams and in the end the results are out there for everyone to see.

In all cricket playing countries only Aus, England and NZ pay attention to women sports thats why only these 3 countries have won WC till date. Leagues wont have much impact on ODI and test performance of national squads, see IPL and Indian men T20I performance. Aus is unstoppable since they are paying attention to women cricket for decades.
208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 06, 2022, 06:08:47 AM

This is what surprises me. The organizers allotted 15 days for the most boring and lest popular format (test format), and half a day for the most popular one (T20). And then people ask why the PCB is struggling with the revenues. I would have been happier if they had reduced one test match from the itinerary (two matches in total instead of three) and replaced it with 3 T20 matches. But then the traditionalists doesn't prefer the T20I format. They want to "uphold" the traditions and for them T20 is a taboo format.

The reason was very much obvious, since IPL is in progress and CA doesn't wanna miss more part of IPL that's why we only have one T20I. Since its a tour after 24 years that's why PCB doesnt wanna reduce test matches. I do agree with you that if we have more T20Is and less Test then this series will be more entertaining.

Keeping a positive attitude is important to me. From a country that always follows rigid and harsh religious customs, it at least is good to see the spirit of freedom and the women cheering with freedom. That is great they are here and participating. The situation will not be the same as before, as they will be stronger and able to establish themselves as a major force in the sun-continent. One day, these beautiful ladies will make their nation proud.

PCB must not stop sending there Women teams in icc events since that will stop the growth of cricket among the women community. This WC must have given them good lesson which can be used to enhance the performance of women team. Pakistan just won one match, I heard Ramiz Raja backing the team and was saying there is a plan to boost women team performance.

Sledging is just a part of the game and Bangladeshis need to get along. The only solution is to give it back with the same intensity. India was at the receiving end a decade or so ago. I guess it was Sreesanth who first retaliated against this practice (during a match with Australia). Now Kohli and his boys have gone a step further and are being regarded as some of the worst bullies in international cricket. So there are two options - either you need to ignore the sledging, or you need to retaliate with the same potency.

India is no more a team we see 15 years back. Because of IPL and BCCI increased strength in ICC no player including Aussies indulge themselves in arguments with Indian Players. King Kohli is indian prime player and you can lose your IPL contract if you offend him. Several Australian players were scared to sledge Virat Kohli or other Indian players to save IPL contracts: Michael Clarke

The only T20I b/w Pak and Aus will be played today and after that CA will release its players for IPL. We saw 3 tests and 3 ODIs but its disappointing to see that most entertaining format is getting only one match. Its probably because CA wanna release its players for IPL. Good news for Finch as Aus interim coach Andrew McDonald is still backing him to lead Aus in WC T20 later this year despite his bad form.
Quote
Since the start of the last T20 World Cup in the UAE in October 2021, Finch has played 12 T20Is and three ODIs without making a half-century. Across 15 innings, including both formats, he averages 15.73 with a strike rate of just 97.92. Source

There is no doubt that Ross was one of the most amazing batsmen New Zealand ever produced. But towards the end of his career, he was not doing great. During the last 2 years, his ODI average stood at 8.25. He played three matches against Netherlands this year and scored only 26 runs. His overall career stats look great, but the same can't be said about recent times. Anyway, now I think he should concentrate more on a TV role, as he has an amazing sense of humor (remember the twitter conversation with Virender Sehwag in Hindi?).

I think in past two years there wasn't much cricket due to covid19. Only in 2021 we saw resumption of cricket with SOPs, still its a good decision from Taylor to get retirement before CNZ drops him from the squad. We rarely saw such trend in sub-continent players stick with teams as long as they can before board decides they are no more required.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 05, 2022, 06:22:30 AM

The performance from sub-continent teams remained below par during this edition of the world cup. If Thailand was allowed to qualify (they topped the qualifying tournament, but the ICC disqualified them saying that they are not ranked), then they would have done much better when compared to either India or Pakistan. Anyway, I had zero interest in the tournament this time. There were only 8 teams in total and I could see hardly any diversity. First of all, a tournament with just 8 teams should not be called a "World" cup.

The only positive development I see in this WC compared to previous ones is that teams like South Africa, West Indies and India gave a tough time to tournament hot favorites, New Zealand and England. No body was expecting that NZ wont made it to semis. I am sure with this WC, these three teams will get good experience to prepare well for next ICC events.
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 03, 2022, 10:51:42 AM

Australian women posted a really big total depending on the back of AJ Healy. she made 170 runs alone by playing only 138 balls. and also she got really good company from her partners. It was always kind of impossible for England to chase 357 in 50 overs.

In the end its a comfortable win for Australia. They have won all the matches in this world cup before lifting the cup. They truly deserved to be world champion. Despite Australia dominance, this world cup for the first time highlighted the fact that teams like SA, WI and India also the potential. I am sure in the next WC we will see more improved performance from these countries.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 03, 2022, 10:48:16 AM

For overseas players, 20% of the salary directly goes to the national cricket board. So for SENA nations, IPL is a revenue generating source. And for boards such as West Indies and South Africa (which are in a very weak condition financially), this amount can be life changing. And it creates a lot of disparity as well. Pakistani players are not allowed, and so the PCB is losing out on the money. The same can be said about associate nations, and lower ranking test nations such as Bangladesh, Ireland and Zimbabwe.

Due to this 20% boards have no hesitation in releasing players for IPL despite international series going on in the country. You are right, the main reason why Pakistani players are not allowed in ipl is not to give any financial gain to PCB. They have there own league psl, but I m sure it's say behind in terms of financial gains that IPL provide.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 03, 2022, 12:04:49 AM
Australia did not lose all the matches in the ODI series, Australia won the first match by a big margin and it was Pakistan that made a good comeback and won the second match even though the total to chase was 348 runs and Pakistan played really well in chasing the huge total and the third match was a one sided one as Pakistan was able to fold them for a small total.

After first odi loss, no one was expecting such comeback from Pakistan team. Pakistan have lost the test series and this win clearly proves that Pakistan is best team of whiteball cricket. Shaheen Shah did the real damage by sending back both Aussie openers on zero.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 03, 2022, 12:00:39 AM
I doubt whether there is any understanding between BCCI and the South African Cricket board like you think. The sole reason they are not stopping the players is because if they put pressure on the players on not to participate in the IPL, then they need to give them a much bigger salary which they are not able to or risk the player announcing the retirement from International Cricket, i guess the later is true.

If the boards restrict the players from participating in the IPL, then they will announce their retirement and focus solely on franchise cricket as they can make a much bigger earning than their national contract and the prime example is AB de Villiers.

IPL not only pays the player but also board for releasing the players for IPL. For the first time CA stopped its players from participating in IPL 2022 because of ongoing Pakistan tour. Small boards like South Africa are happy to sacrifice players for IPL for the financial gains. South Africa first time on its soil lost to Bangladesh since its players are in IPL.

In the 6th match of tri nation cup going on in Nepal,  Nepal beat Malaysia by 85 runs. Nepal gave a target of 223, Dipendra Singh Airee played a not out innings of 110. Haven't seen Dipendra in any league so far. Such tournaments will help players of associate teams to make it to leagues like IPL.

If you see Pakistan is playing outstanding game at this stage. They are playing really great against any opponent. If I talk about Babar Azam, he is beauty and unstoppable. I think he will get another century today. Easy win for Pakistan team.
Babar Azam scored his second consecutive century and third consecutive 50 plus score and took Pakistan to a series win and he is the man of the series as well as the man of the match. But all the credits goes to the Pakistan bowlers who were able to trouble the Australian batting line up from the start and did not give any room to build any partnership and restricted them for a small total of 210 runs.

Australia lost there 9th wicket on 166 it was Sean Abbott 49 on 40 balls that helped them crossing 200. Australia team were not playing with there major bowlers like starc, Hazlewood and Cummins. That's another plus for Pakistan. Australia will conclude this historic tour on 5th April by playing the only T20I.
220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 02, 2022, 05:43:26 PM

Today's match was so easy for Pakistan to win. They lost only 1 wicket and they played well. Performance of Pakistan team is impressive and I think they will continue it. Specially, Babar Azam is in his best form at this time.

Babar Azam aka Mughal e Azam is doing so good these days. As a captain he has scored most centuries for Pakistan in ODIs now. Today's game is totally one sided, Pakistan could have bowled out Australia easily around 170 but superb knock by Abbott at the very last moment helped Australia climbing 200 Mark.
There is only T20I left which will be played on 5th April.
