201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 25, 2019, 01:04:03 PM
Oscar was a good player with Chelsea only the first season of joining the team.
From that season and then, he didn't seem to be the next talented player that would compete Ronaldo and Messi, or reach their levels of performance. Good for him that he got transferred in China and got a lot of money.

No current player in football is on the level Ronaldo & Messi have displayed over the last 10 years. The other top players are several levels below - Griezmann, Salah, Mane, Neymar. Maybe the heir to Ronaldo’s & Messi’s throne is Mbappe but he still has a lot to prove.

There have been a few on the same level such as Ronaldinho and Kaka but they don't have the longevity that Ronaldo and Messi have.  Also  Ronaldo and Messi might look a little better than they really are because they both always played on stacked teams.
202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading competitions on: July 25, 2019, 12:56:19 PM
I suspect that some of these exchanges are trading against their customers so no one wins the prizes.  I've seem some big prizes in the past.  For example you could once win a new porsche on Binance in their trading competition.  I still don't think it is worth going for because there is only 1 winner and the chance of you winning is low, most of your money will be used on fees.
203  Economy / Economics / Re: thoughts on companies becoming too powerful? on: July 25, 2019, 12:51:13 PM
It is called economies of scale. The more you produce, the cheaper it becomes.

Generally, people don't have to worry about this monopoly power, because the government has antitrust law to "prevent" bad things to happen.

Yes the government could force divestment if these companies becomes too big.

The worrying thing is that productivity has constantly been increasing but wages have remained stagnant.  People in America made much more money in the 60s and 70s working a normal job and housing, healthcare, and education was a lot cheaper.
204  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Good news to crypto:Coinbase has passed 30million users this month on: July 24, 2019, 03:27:23 PM
Coinbase is really simple for new users that want to buy crypto but we should encourage them to use coinbase pro and save on fees.  I know a real exchange setting can look very intimidating at first but its something you need to learn if you want to take your investments seriously.
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 24, 2019, 02:46:05 PM
I never like this time of the year in tennis after Wimbledon as most of the top players take time off to rest ready for the US Open which starts at the end of next month. Federer has confirmed that he will play in the Cincinnati Masters and then the US Open, the Cincinnati Masters seems to be a good lead up tournament for most of the top players. We don't have to wait long for this tournament as it starts on August 10th.

The smaller tournaments are nice to win but people mostly only care about the grand slam titles.  That is the first thing that is referenced when comparing players.  Same thing applies to golfers.  There was a time that I thought Roger had a lock on the career titles record but now I think Novak will eventually surpass him.
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: July 24, 2019, 02:38:32 PM
If the United States sends their best players the other teams won't stand a chance.  It will be pure dominance, USA is just too stacked with all that talent and athleticism.  I don't think many people care much about the FIBA world cup though, the olympics is the bigger prize.  Its the opposite in soccer, no one cares about soccer olympics but only the world cup.
207  Economy / Economics / thoughts on companies becoming too powerful? on: July 24, 2019, 02:29:04 PM
Disney has become the media giant and has been on a spending spree for the last decade buying up different ips.

Facebook has been buying up all their competition and is the dominant social media company and nothing else can compete with it.

Companies become so big and they have enormous power over us, do you think companies like this should be broken up by the government or be allowed to reign supreme?
208  Other / Meta / Re: Statistics of registrations on Bitcointalk 2017-2019 on: July 24, 2019, 02:27:14 PM
So many accounts register that don't even make one post though.  The stats make this forum look a lot more active then it truly is.  Factor in how many people make multiple accounts and the number of actual new users is kinda low.
209  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Deportation vs. the Cost of Letting Illegal Immigrants Stay" on: July 24, 2019, 02:20:13 PM
I never really cared much about being patriotic.  I just happened to be born on some piece of land and that doesn't mean I will fight or die for a country that is just run by wealthy people that are above the law.  Eventually the world will be one giant country and one government anyways, we are slowly heading towards that.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Impossibility of a gambling system (Why methods don't work) on: July 24, 2019, 02:10:15 PM
I'm not against those who are making and selling scripts but instead of buying scripts which has the same fate at the end as no script. Just used the money/coin and add it into your bankroll. You'll just end up blaming the seller ans site because of your high expectation claimed by the seller that adds your winning percentage.

People should be able to freely buy and sell whatever they want but the sellers of scripts often deceive customers and make them sound better than they really are.  If the scripts were so profitable in the first place the creator would just use it instead of putting it on the market.
211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 23, 2019, 01:31:45 PM
Do you football guys consider Ronaldo or Messi to be the greatest of all time?  I think messi tends to get overrated because people love that he is a short guy underdog while Ronaldo is a physical beast.
Ronaldo is a hard worker, even at the age of 34 he is thinking of ways to improve physically. Messi has more talent, the ball gets stuck to his feet. The way he understands the movements of the opposition is unbelievable.

If you are looking at overall work rate and training - Ronaldo is the winner.
In terms of share talent and vision - Messi is better.

I think Messi is the 2nd greatest player of all time and Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest.  Legends like Pele and Maradona get overrated and they would never be able to compete at the level of athletes today with how physically fit they are.
212  Economy / Economics / Re: What are some not so obvious things that damage a country's economy? on: July 23, 2019, 01:29:49 PM
Things that damage the economy indirectly.

For example I feel that fast food and an unhealthy lifestyle leads chronic health problems that probably affects the economy not just monetarily.

Of course we can't just deny these people care, just promote a healthier lifestyle.

What are other things that we can change that will affect the economy in a positive way?

The medical industry wants sick people, there isn't much money to be made when all of your citizens are healthy.  Plus I think unhealthy people consume more which stimulates other parts of the economy.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Still "Finding Satoshi" then ... on: July 23, 2019, 01:21:23 PM
The world is finding Satoshi and mystery is unsolved till now as Satoshi is a fictional character that has invented Bitcoin and underlying technology i.e. Bitcoin, therefore, finding Satoshi is of no use.

I definitely think those bitcoins will be sold someday, not many people would turn down all that money and even if Satoshi wasn't materialistic he could spend all that money on charity and help a lot of unfortunate people.  The only way I see the coins never being spent if Satoshi is dead.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for reliable altcoin news platform on: July 23, 2019, 01:09:32 PM
This forum is constantly updated with altcoin news, just check the various ann threads for news on specific coins.  My next choice would be youtube and twitter platforms with all the different crypto content creators.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: KYC Process (Sportsbook) on: July 23, 2019, 01:02:30 PM
If you have to submit to KYC then you might as well just use a regular casino instead that is more heavily regulated.  A lot of people are using crypto casinos to stay somewhat anonymous and everything gets thrown out the window when this happens.
216  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: YoBit Signature Campaign (Bitcointalk) on: July 22, 2019, 03:02:58 PM
Help me please - in local threads it is possible to write? yesterday I made 14 posts, counted only 1.
13 made in local thread

So this campaign is actually paying? Something tells me if this campaign was fully operational the board would be littered with their signatures like it was last time. Most people seemed to be saying it wasn't paying and I've seen very few yobit sigs on the board. Have you actually tried to cash out? Maybe it's just counting posts but no payments are being made.

If they were in the campaign previously, then they can't rejoin again.  I'm sure they are getting paid because I am seeing a decent amount of Yobit posters already.  At least the spam hasn't reached the insane levels like last time when the Sig campaign opened up.
217  Economy / Economics / Re: Crimes involving crypto have risen on: July 22, 2019, 02:49:54 PM
Ok, but how many dollars have been involved with illegal activities?  Currency isn't inherently bad or evil, it is just a tool used for transaction and it is on the humans on what it is used for.  A baseball bat isn't good or bat but it can be used for a weapon, now lets ban all baseball bats.....
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 22, 2019, 02:44:59 PM
Gareth Bale is a transfer target of Beijing according to some reports. Clubs from China are well known for offering big wages so I dont think there would be any problems in the money department. But I still feel he has more to offer in Europe and accepting a move to China would be too soon in his career.

He is already super rich, I don't think money will be the motivating factor at this point.  China is not a respected league and they don't participate in the Champions League.  He is a competitor they wants to stay in one of the top leagues and win titles that are actually respected.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man won 12 times in lottery on: July 22, 2019, 02:38:29 PM
Once a jackpot reaches a certain amount and you buy every number possibility your expected return will be higher than what you spent but you also have to factor in other people winning at the same time as you.
220  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Affected by bitcoin Copy paste address on: July 22, 2019, 02:28:58 PM
This is one of the easiest ways to lose your btc because people usually just copy and paste the address without double checking that everything matches correctly.  In the future you need to be more careful about what you download and what websites you visit to avoid malware and viruses.
