2001  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why BTC is down again? on: March 21, 2018, 11:35:31 AM
That's why Bitcoin has fallen so far, governments and banks.

With Bitcoin you can transfer money at any time and at very low cost.

There are so few commissions and tax fees that banks and the government do not like.

*at very low cost.

I still remember when I sent 200€ worth of BTC only to be charged 25€ worth of BTC!
On that matter, XRP is the best choice, but only the biggest of exchanges support it.
2002  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why BTC is down again? on: March 21, 2018, 11:32:49 AM
Because of there are so many bad news related to Bitcoin come everyday and the whales are publishing bad announcement from famous people to speard FUD to make trader and holder feel nervous then try to cut their loss by selling with lower price. And the worst news come from China, the biggest country where all the biggest Bitcoin mining factories in the world located in.
Many people disappointed in the moves, believing the the fall of bitcoin is happening because of market manipulation. But we must remember that the real value of a cryptocurrency is not driven by price but instead is driven by utility.
More like driven by spaculation that there MIGHT be an utility use in the future.
I agree that there's no market manipulation though, at least not a conscious one. The news media will cheer when something has already risen which will result in FOMO traders buying and overpricing things, then the same news will FUD when something is falling panicing people and making them price go underpriced. I don't believe the media is doing that to manipulate the market, but because they're just saying whatever the audience wants to hear in order to keep the viewership numbers high.
Here's what I am seeing on coinmarketcap.com:

Crypto prices all going up and down in almost 'identical' patterns. Percentages of the top 100+ market cap coins that mirror each other and go up and down almost in unison.

To me, this tells me there is BIG money, possibly by one or a few whales in a lot of these tokens/coins. Their bots or traders put money into all or most of these coins at once, creating an illusion of a bull market return. For all of these coins/tokens to go up on so many tokens, in unison, and then go back down in unison, is pretty obvious what's happening.

Yes, the market is driven on news and emotion, but look closer - these patterns of up and down prices on coinmarketcap.com and Coinbase are following each other too tightly to be just news driven.

Plus, there are 'Pump and dump' groups pumping a lot of coins, then dumping for profit.

Please allow me to point a misconception that exists about "identical" patterns.
If you're viewing the crypto prices against fiat currency (EUR/USD etc) then there's a technical reason why almost everything is going either up or down every day. Since the price of every coin is relative to the price of BTC (the altcoins are translated to an xamount of BTC, which is then translated to fiat), even if the 99% of the market doesn't move and only BTC increase by 10%, then coinmarketcap will show a 10% increase of every altcoin.

e.g.:
ETH = 0.064 BTC
BTC = 7400€
so 1ETH = 470€
If no one trades ETH for 1 day and BTC goes to 14800€, then ETH will still equal 0.064 BTC, but 1ETH = 0.064BTC = 940€ (it doubled as well)

TL;DR,
If you want a clearer view of altcoin's movement, check their price against BTC.

It seems like it takes a lot more for Electroneum to recover than other coins.
We are losing places in coinmarketcap. If we would have kept the 50th place the should`ve been 0.05$ right now.
I can't explain myself why is etn losing positions because we have only good news lately.

From the beginning they made big advertisments that they signed up with binance, currently you hear nothing about this signment since months.
they just get listed on small exchanges and thats completely different to their Roadmap "Q1 listing on Major exchanges"

Exchanges are not the key i know, but most of the Investors are having an eye on this fact.

They got listed on Kucoin and they will get listed on another one in the next 2 weeks. You must understand that it is harder to get listed since they are not an erc20 coin. And there was the problem with the blockchain that they fixed this last month. But all this means that they are moving forward and the price is moving down and I cand find an explanation. Even the number of mobile miners is increasing daily.

Anything traded in the open market is not always fairly priced, some are hyped and overpriced and when the bubble brakes, people are losing money; and there are the misunderstood and underpriced like ETN or Twitter's stock and Ford's stock to name a few I've been buying on dips and holding.

This is the investor's challenge, to buy good projects when they're undervalued and cheap, before the mass media start hyping the project.

Similar problem with LTC. The message was saying that the threshold is ~0.05. During the last payout before the change of the day I had 0.051 LTC and I got no payment. What does the ~0.05 LTC mean? 0.05 or 0.05999? Can't a stable number be used?

I'm just happy that some wanna-be-whales who charged their credit cards and made GPUs disappear from the stores, will be in trouble if the prices stay low for a little longer and might have to sell some GPUs in order to pay up their bank!

I wonder.... if you bought 50x1070ti for 750€ each a month ago, that'd be 37500€. Now those would consume about 10€ in power each I think, plus something extra for the rest of the system but for the sake of simplicity let's say 10€ power/month/card +50€ = 550€.
I have no idea what's the credit's card fees like, but I believe a 5% intrest-rate on a 12-months plan would make sense. That'd be around 3.281,25€ per month.

Based on some online calculators, they'd make 1650€ in ZEC/ETH per month (without counting tx fees for a cryptocoin to reach your bank in euros).
So adding all up, +1650€ mined -3280€ for the GPUs -550€ for power consumption = -2180€ for the first 12 months.

I know how the markets work though and I believe that the prices will go up again, but hopefuly if people overcharged themselves out of greed to buy as many GPUs as they can get their hands on, they'll start selling them now and we'll see some lower GPU prices. We're talking about a seemingly 35.8 months for ROI! Shocked (it's actually ∞ for ROI if you count the rising diff and that new stronger cards would arrive by 35 months).

Bottom line: If you invested in crypto by buying through an exchange, just hold, you'll be fine. If you have a few GPUs that you bought in good price, worst case scenario you'll make less money that you had hoped or brake even. If you were greedy and bought more than you could handle hoping you'd pay-off through mining rewards, you're screwed!

I would but I don't want a mobile wallet.
So cheap, at 02 or 01 everyone should buy.

You can always use cli wallet on your PC, no need to go mobile.

Yeah, I don't want to use the complicated command procedure either, I want a simple desktop wallet, is it planned?

There's nothing like that in their "Q2 and beyond Goals 2018" so I'd doubt anything like that would come soon, if ever. This is a mobile-focused coin so it's obviously not in their priorities.

Why do you need it though? Don't you have an Android tablet or phone? Even if you have an iPhone (no ETN app available yet), you can just download their paper wallet, use it to store your coins and where there'll be a wallet for iOS (soon) you can transfer your coins from the paper to your online account, there's an option that does that automatically.
Here's the link for the paper wallet if you want it: https://my.electroneum.com/offline_paper_electroneum_walletV1.6.html
2010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: March 17, 2018, 07:55:55 PM
I've been testing the version 3 yesterday and I have an issue to report. It might be something I overlooked because of the new design, but let me start by explaining how I work the version 2 atm.

I have 2 different kinds of cards on my rig, so each kind of card is more profitable in different algos. Because of that, I don't want to run an average of all my cards on every algo and instead I've made 2 folders of NemosMiner, each folder with different data inside the "stats" folder and I run 2 instances at the same time, one for each group of cards.
At first the benchmark would get confused when two ccminers were running and it'd update the hashrate incorrectly. In order to fix that, I run the benchmark on the 1st group and then turned the "*HashRate.txt" files into read-only. I then benchmarked the 2nd group of cards and again locked their hashrate files into read-only. Since then, running 2 instances at the same time works like charm, the only drawback is that the hashrates are not being updated automatically but if you don't change anything in your system, the hashrate rarely changes because of an updated miner... and of course you can just run the benchmark again!

I believe the above trick would help people with more cards than the miner can handle? Maybe?

Anyway to be honest I posted the above long explanation in case someone wants to try it, the issue I have with version 3 with the above setup is pretty simple... I can't setup specific cards for each instance OR I'm doing it wrong and there's no documentary to help me!

The GTX 1080 Ti is so fast, so capable, so ridiculously extreme in its performance that it makes us laugh with delight.
The GTX 1080 Ti is a technological achievement of pretty epic proportions…[it] has set the bar so high that it will be very, very hard to dethrone.
It is undoubtedly a fantastic piece of engineering—cool, quiet, and without rival. Those that demand the absolutely very best in cutting-edge graphics need look no further.
The performance NVIDIA has squeezed out of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is nothing short of a miracle…NVIDIA has really nailed the enthusiast graphics card market, and improved it beyond words with the release of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
You're in a thread for owners of 1080ti, so why are you marketing it like you're on an AMD forum?  Grin

What am I doing wrong?

I don't think you can use a miner made for pools as a solo miner... I can't even imagine how dev fee would work under these circumstances! If you find a block the 2 mins (or whatever is the time) the miner is mining for the dev, then would he get the whole block reward? Grin I think there are more than one reason you can't use any miner for either solo or pool mining.
PS: I might be wrong! Wink

Yep, it's easy to fix though. I'll try explain it to you but I'm from my phone at the moment, so I won't be able to tell you the exact steps.

1. Go to the folder where you've placed NemosMiner
2. Find a .ps1 file that includes "Claymore" in its name
3. Right-click and edit
4. Somewhere on the first lines, about 4th to 6th line I think, you'll see the text ethash= " ". Inside these quotes after the ethash you type extra arguements, but make sure you leave a space before you type.
5. Type in the arguement manually, that'd be ethash =" -di 12" for 2nd and 3rd GPU or whatever else you want.

I hope I helped, please let me know! Smiley

Hello latoxine34 your ticket is in the queue to be attended by an specialist and it might take a while.

Regarding taxes: as much as I'd like, we can't provide any tax advice and I'd suggest you consult with a local expert.

Thank you augustus,
just received the support answer. Certainly my english is not goog enough, but the answer is not appropriate.

1) I asked for My name, as the other poster ( markd ) above asked too, and the answer is talking about the name of the fidor bank that could sometime not appear on withdrawal sepa due to an issue. (?! )

2) for the potential tax audit I do not ask for an advice, but for what legal and officials documents I could have directly or on demand from you and the bank in case, because if I ask to my local expert and tell him that :
a) my name do not appear anywhere and b) the only document I have is a csv export without any legal infos on it , his answer will be clear = stop!

Sorry if my english is not clear enought, and that I'm maybe crying before to be hurt, but if someone understand my question and want to translate be my guest !  Wink

I see what you mean, so probably Kraken will understand too!
You need some kind of an official document from them with your name visible on it. I believe this document should be issued from their system with the press of a button, our accountant or another legal institution might ask us to provide it.

Also, I believe that a simple name wouldn't be enough. VAT registration number or ID number would be more solid identifiers.

Hi,

Since cards are running on 70C should I adjust fans to be not on AUTO? I am afraid if fans are not on auto they will short lifetime?

Any suggestions or 70C should be considered a safety temp?

Regards,
Hristo
Are you on an Nvidia 10xx card? 70c is fine in theory, but personally I'm trying to keep them at 60-65C.

Is there a code to restrict mining use to one GPU instead of both if I have 2 x GPUs?

Also, running 2 x 1080 GPUs and getting about 480-500 sol/s per GPU, is that right?
Regarding the GPU restriction, yes there is, I think it's -d. For example "-d 0" will run the miner on the 1st GPU. "-d 12" will run on the 2nd and 3rd GPU.

I tried using -d 1 to use my 2nd GPU, it didn't seem to work though, the miner wouldn't get up and running at all :/

It's not -d; it's --dev
Just read the first page of the thread. Is it so hard?

LOL, are you sure you could find the GPU indexes in the first page? Cheesy

@romansteel, try these commands in your .bat file

--cuda_devices 0

I'm pretty sure. Are you blind or just mentally impaired?
Code:
Options:
    --help           Print this help
--list-devices   List available cuda devices to use
--dev            Space separated list of cuda devices
    --time           Enable output of timestamps
    --color          colorize the output

i'm shocked how many clueless people are willing to "help": one proposed to use -d (which is claymore's option), the other one proposed --cuda_devices 0 (which is EWBF's option)...
lol it's "-di" for Claymore! "-d" is used from ccminer forks, my bad. But I see you're very good at playing the clever one! Smiley

For some reason, when I set over 9 intensity it's crashing. From what I've read in this thread, people trying to run over 9 cards have a problem too. So what I understand it that any 2-digit numbers is causing a crush.
Was an answer provided and I missed it? Huh

For what GPU type are you trying to change intensity? You don't need to change it for GTX 1070 as it's already fine tuned and you can't randomly change it because algo optimized for certain value. Also, 9 is very low value, why do you specify it? Lowest default intensity for slowest card (GT 1030 and alike) is 15.

2-digit numbers doesn't cause crash. It was bug in original hsrminer and I've already fixed it:

  • Fixed bug of original hsrminer - now you can use GPU's numbers > 9 with -d option, i.e.  -d 10,11,12
Hello. I'll do some more testing and let you know but this will be tomorrow.
For now I just wanted to thank you for the reply and let you know what are my intentions with "intensity".

I'm using the NemosMiner which includes your miner inside, but since this Nemos is an algo-auto-switching miner, I'm forced to keep one overclock setting for every algo. I found that your miner is the only one that's pushing my 1080ti to 70 degrees, something that I don't feel comfortable with. I'm using the EVGA 1080ti FTW3 and I noticed that one of the "POWER" temp sensors is peaking high while the rest 8 sensors (including GPU & RAM) is top 63.
I also have a 1070 and 1070ti on my rig but those have fine temps. So what I tried was to include an argument in the Nemos's files that will launch your HSRM at reduced intensity for the 1080ti. I tried starting from 8 and going up 1 point at a time and when I reach 10, HSRM opens and closes in an instant. I know I've put the intensity argument correctly since at intensity 8 the hashrate and temps were veeeeery low! What I'm hoping for is a slight decrease in the intensity, like 1 point max.

Your best and by far quickest way to try to solve issue - exit from NemosMiner, delete hsrminer_neoscrypt_fork_hp.exe from the \bin\NVIDIA-Hsrminer subfolder of the NemosMiner. Download normal priority version of the miner, unpack and put it to the \bin\NVIDIA-Hsrminer subfolder and rename it to hsrminer_neoscrypt_fork_hp.exe

Run NemosMiner, or just run hsrminer_neoscrypt_fork_hp.exe manually and check GPU's temp. Normal priority version should stress GPU less than _hp version, but of course you will get lower hashrate. Also you can try to reduce OC of the GPU, reduce PL%, and so on.

As for intensity, intensity 8 is lowest, so no point to use it for powerful gpu. Try to use -i 17, -i 17.1, etc, up to -i 17.4

Hello. I downloaded the normal priority version and changed NemosMiner's script in order to start the normal priority. I tried a few times to change between these 2 and I noticed a small drop of about 2C-3C in temp but 0 drop in MHz. So that'll be fine for now.

However I also managed to printscreen the miner's error the split of a second it appears before it shuts down when changing the priority to anything above 9.
First of all, that's the line I tried to run: Bin\NVIDIA-Hsrminer\hsrminer_neoscrypt_fork.exe -a neoscrypt -b 4068 -o stratum+tcp://hub.miningpoolhub.com:17012 -u txtasosxt.1080ti -p x -d 0 -i 17.1
And this is the error I get: Cuda error in fun 'neoscrypt_cpu_hash_1080' at line 1500 : an illegal memory access was encountered.

Am I going to jail? Cry lol Grin
PS: I'm in the newest version.

One idea/question about the Merit system, I think many are hoarding their sMerit while waiting for a genious post or can't spend any because they don't have some anymore. Wouldn't it be better to give everybody a few to spend every month to get a flow into the system? I have often had the case that I would like to have given away sMerit if someone helped me, but perhaps not wrote the ultimative post. Or is it against the system to reward a helping person?

Nice idea but then there's the following problem,
If obtaining sMerit become a matter of time, then spammers/bots/etc with high rank will also become a matter of time.
All they'd need to do would be to shitpost with multiple accounts and then use their accounts to merit themselves.

Makes sense to you?

Hey peeps,

ETN just got listed on Kucoin, I'd like to move my ETN to the exchange.

When I enter my Kucoin ETN deposit address to MPH wallet it says "Failed to update your account: Address is already in use"

Do you guys know what to do?

Thank you.

ETN has an address and a PaymentID field. Doesn't Kucoin provide you with a PaymentID? Or MPH doesn't give you the option to input the ID?
If you get the error that the address is already in use, then obviously Kucoin uses one address for every client but gives different PaymentIDs to each one.
