Passed DOGE. Next stop, Peercoin.  Grin

I'm holding until MintPal adds NXT and causes a panic buy.

Ah, if only we could get rid of NXT holders and get only NXT users...

#MakingNewFriends

We are in the beginning of the early adopter phase. What do you want, a pizza for 10,000 BTC?

Nope, what about a forum tipbot for sending you a 0.1 NXT for the comment? ;-) The biggest leap for DOGE came when the reddit and twitter tipbot was a reality.

The threads with speculators/wanna-be day traders/Teen investors with $50 on NXT talking about how "the market" does this and "China tomorrow that" etc is so 2013.

Im excited with all the upcoming stuff and in the works stuff. But want MOAR! Call me impatient  Grin

We have a tipbot. Maybe had a tipbot is more accurate. TwinWinNerD ran the bounty for it, I believe.

What makes it different?

If it isn't different, which crypto line is it cloned from?
2023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sia's Use of the Nxt AE on: May 17, 2014, 08:31:45 AM

I agree though 10 min is a  deal breaker for many. it certainly feels like a step backwards for most who are used to 'high frequency' centralised exchanges, but then it's not supposed to compete with them.  It's ideal because nobody can 'close' Counterparty like BTCT or Bitfunder was closed. You don't have to trust the exchange issuer not to run off with your funds like the cocksuckers at gox.. It's ideal for instance when you want to convert BTC to gold to escape BTC's volatility. you can then trade that gold on market and back into BTC. . It's perfect in many other ways. For instance you look to auction NEM stakes or start a company and distribute shares, pay dividends. you don't need instant confirmations for those applications.

Personally I feel that most who are frustrated with 10min wait would be frustrated with a 3 minute wait, a 1 minute wait and so on and so forth too and that in general the market is not ready for decentralised exchanges just as they were not ready for decentralised currencys few years ago. (and still most beyond this forum are not even ready for decentralised currencys).

Haha that makes no sense. NXT has 1 minute block times and is developing a protocol for instant transactions. The world may not be ready for decentralized exchanges, but somebody has to do the work of making it ready. That's what NXT is doing while everyone else stays bound to obsolete 1st gen protocols.

I'd rather be in something like NEM than NXT. As far as I'm concerned the NXT technology is great but the distribution models too flawed to even consider taking part in. Being open source the community can decide whether NXT with fixed distribution model has more long term merit.

What is Nxt's distribution model?

DRK for sure.

It is very hard to make good prognoses, especially for such a long time.

Also there still might be the new greatest coin launched right about now Wink

+1 We will probably see a x5 rise in the next weeks.

...Or not... Dark is going back down after pump right now (hope you sold yours already  Wink  )... many coins are releasing similar anonymous send feature and much more advanced features, what else Dark has to compete in the a longer run  Huh

Zerocoin has been abandoned.
Zerocash is centralized

What other anonymous coins? Currently, Darkcoin is the best and practically only anonymous coin out there...

Nxt has proof of concepts for NxtCash and NxtMixer for anonymity services.

People are allowed to disagree, as long as their disagreements are based in reality.

Case in point, we still see people who apparently believe that BCNext got a number (20 is common, lowest I have seen is 3) of his close personal friends or "special people" together in a backroom and then distributed Nxt to them as he saw fit, excluding everyone else. BCNext did this in a day and then tried to sell Nxt on for profit, not giving them access to the same terms as his special people.

We all know this line of arguement is ignorance at best, bare faced FUD at worst.

What actually happened was an ANN thread was started by BCNext inviting anyone to send any amount of BTC, capped at 1 BTC, as a donation. The donations were only a means to limit sock puppets and NXT was divided up in the proportion of your donation. If your donation turned out to be 0.1% of the total you got 1 Million NXT, 5% you got 50 Million NXT.

It was open to everyone on the same terms for 50 days. Around 100 people signed up but when the time came, only 73 people actually came forward to claim their share. No one cared about Nxt, for whatever reason, before it was launched and even after it was and that is why the distribution was the way it was. This is all on public record, transaction hashes and all that can be verified in the Blockchain, and links can be provided for those who don't know where to look

Any hint of a suspicion that there was any element of design in the distribution should be stamped on and the verifiable facts (with links) provided  Grin People are free to disagree, especially with those who don't know the facts  Cheesy

...especially since the guy who created it has run off.

Hmmm... quite similar to say.... bitcoin

Bitcoin was first to market and was therefore afforded certain "snafus" if you will.  NXT is in heavy competition with a ton of other 2nd gen cryptos.  NXT can't afford to have the same sort of things happening.  The sooner the NXT fanbois realize this the better.

The better for who?

I have a problem. I just started using nextcoin a couple of days ago...it looks promising. I went on cryptsy and bought some nxt coins. I downloaded the wallet from the official site. It has all synced. I then withdrew the nxt coins from cryptsy and deposited them to my account number. It has been over 24 hours and I still don't see the coins in my next wallet. I have confirmed that the address that I sent the coins to from cryptsy IS my next wallet account number.

Why don't I see my coins in my wallet?

Cryptsy is known for slow withdrawals sometimes, unfortunately. Raise a ticket with them.

Just to double check, what is the account number/transaction ID of the move? This will confirm it is a problem with cryptsy or not.

My account number is:4598198454207859751

There is nothing showing for that account number on the Block explorer, it has never been used so it looks like Cryptsy is having problems again  Roll Eyes Your NXT is still in transit.

I would raise a ticket with them.

I did! this was there reply!

Hello Jim,

Thank you for contacting Cryptsy.
My apologies for the inconvenience. We are currently investigating issues
with the wallet. Withdrawals for NXT is currently offline. Once our tech support is done,
all transactions will be resumed.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Sincerely,

On the point of overtaking Doge to be #5. Won't be much longer now.

Then i can die in peace. Please for christ sake, we dont have to go to the moon, just squash that god damned doge!

Interesting tidbit... the gap between Nxt and Doge, since the relaunch of this BCT thread, has shrunk from ~$15 million to ~$2 million. Not bad work  Grin  (I suppose the AE might have something to do with it to  Cheesy )

This is such a popular coin, it just cannot keep sliding.. Soon the games will end.. They are just trying to pee you all off...

At least PoS is. I just can't see PoS failing. Grin I don't see any other PoS altcoin doing really well right now other then a few under 1 million cap. We're the only one above 1 million cap aren't we? Oh right NXT. I wish NXT would just add PoW or something so I could stop having to PoS* every single time I talk about BC. I brought this topic up on reddit asking for our most prestigious title that's simple. PoS+volume+1% or something.

You will soon be able to create any coin you like on top of Nxt. Nxt isn't designed to be a currency, it is designed to be a platform to be built on.

Nodecoin and Laksmhi are POW test coins that have been built upon Nxt to show it can be done. They are also protected from the traditional POW 51% attack by being secured by the Nxt POS blockchain.

See jl777's 'Coin creation Kit" or Come-from-Beyond's post in the Nxt Monetary System subforum. You will be soon be able to pick and choose any features you want for your coin  (POW/POS/any inflation amount) and launch it on the Asset Exchange in a few clicks. Blackcoin could even be relaunched on the AE in a 1 for 1 swap.

Reed Solomon

Reed Solomon is an error correction method used in computer programming. It is specifically used in Nxt to display your original account ID in the Reed Solomon format. Reed Solomon format will look something like “NXT-edq1f-saxej-qwdc4-fzsh2” rather than the original “45684125745214585125” (These are random creations, just to illustrate the idea).

The Reed Solomon format isn't a new account, just a different way of displaying your account number but it has two big advantages.

First, it is easier to read and check if it is correct. Sort sections of letters are more human readable than a string of up to twenty numbers.

Secondly, it can detect if you input up to two digits of the Reed Solomon address incorrectly and will even suggest corrections. This will reduce the likelihood of sending your NXT to the wrong account.

Users who have only used NRS v1.1.3 or later will only know the Reed Solomon format of addresses.

What is Reed Solomon? (Daedelus personal dumb-dumb interpretation   Grin )
It is a new format of you original account ID. It isn't a new account just a different way of displaying it but it has two big advantages.
i) It is easier to read and check if it is correct. It will look something like NXT-edq1f-saxej-qwdc4-fzsh2 rather than 05684125745214585125 (I made these up just to give you the idea)
ii) It can detect if you input up to two of the digits incorrectly and even suggest corrections. This will reduce the likelihood of sending your NXT to the wrong account. I am pretty sure it is powered by magic.

Nxt has had this for a while (you could have changed it in the settings) but it has now been set as the default view.

Hi,

Can you post the Reed Solomon version of the Nxt address used to issue your asset on the AE? (The version that looks like NXT-sdfcdD-2Dwwe- etc etc )

This is now default in the NRS v1.1.3.

Could you post it here for me to pick up later >>> https://nxtforum.org/index.php?action=pm;f=inbox;sort=date;start=0

Thanks  Grin

NXT were brought for total of 21 btc between ~73 stakeholders
...

You just copied one of your previous posts from an other topic. Any chance that you read a reply by toknormal on the same page? Because it was a very good reply worthy of consideration.

It was also 21 BTC between over a hundred people but some never came forward for their stake. Maybe no one else came forward in the 2 month period they had a chance as they thought it might be vapourware. We'll never know but I am more interested in the distribution today.

(sorry to hijack your thread  Grin)
