2041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: February 21, 2017, 07:14:52 PM
Gambling should be used as a form of entertainment and recreational activity when you are away from work.

Some people are gambling when sitting in the office, trust me on that. Smiley

It gets to be wrong when you are laundering money through a casino which can get you into trouble or jail most likely.

Not only because of that gambling can be wrong. Actually you've mentioned a rare case. Mostly gambling is wrong when someone becomes addicted to it and loses money or time or both to to this activity.
2042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and betting?? on: February 21, 2017, 12:38:28 PM
Gambling and betting are the same. Both describe the risking of money to earn more. Luck is more important for both. Only the strategy helps at times for a successful earning.

I think by "betting" he means sports betting and by "gambling" any kind of other gambling: dice, poker, slots etc.

But I think in terms of an opportunity to make money with either it is indeed the same, meaning you have no chances to succeed. I propose to OP to gamble for fun only, not hoping to make money with it.
2043  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-02-21]Bitcoin Freelance Marketplace Rein Launches in Beta on: February 21, 2017, 12:25:23 PM
I think it will be great opportunity for freelancers. Although I study at University right now I would probably want to sell some services for Bitcoins. At least I would like to try. Pity that the new Rein version 0.3.0 beta is not newbie friendly so far. So I guess I have to wait a bit.
2044  Economy / Economics / Re: After Chinese exchange comeback ? on: February 21, 2017, 10:00:30 AM
Alright , we all know that the Chinese exchanges stopped withdrawals for users for one month or so for fighting money laundering If I understood right. If they ever comeback to work , what impact could they have over the price ? should we expect seeing a huge dump ? assuming that people have their funds on the exchange without being able to move them right now , wouldn't that create too much supply after they comeback ?

It doesn't seem like it had any impact on the price of BTC. At least no negative impact can be observed. Bitcoin's price is at $1,092 right now and this is close to the highest level in this year. But on the other hand we can't say that Bitcoin price rised a lot after the Chinese exchanges stopped withdrawals. So I don't think after they comeback we'll see a significant change.
2045  Economy / Gambling / Re: PenguinDice: An Open Source Bitcoin Dice Betting Tor Hidden Service on: February 21, 2017, 09:02:44 AM
I have added a button to Set all Bets to 0 next to the Roll button, per veleten's suggestion.

I've also increased the maximum bets.

Old maximums:
0.0002 to 0.001

New maximums:
0.0005 to 0.003

The minimum bet remains 0.00001.

The maximum bet is different for each number. You can bet the most on 7 and the least on 2 and 12.

That was a good suggestion I was going to make it myself. Also adding chat would be nice.

I've been playing again on this site today, via Tor browser. This time I wasn't so lucky, lost 36 units today and now i have only 63 units left.

Haha. While I was writing this I was playing on the site and BOOM!
Quote
You rolled a 6 and a 6 for a total of 12.

This comes from the first two numbers between 1 and 6 in the random roll string:
760baafd64b1a6344feb7e07db189966b46d8fde344db55262e3f83579bab1f5

Your balance changed by 0.00033650 btc.

So now I have 96 units.  Smiley
2046  Other / Archival / Re: Earning "free" bitcoins on: February 21, 2017, 08:42:32 AM
Getting "free" bitcoin was probably possible the time when only very few ppl believed in the success of bitcoin. Now, as everybody knows about the success of bitcoin, there is no more "free" coins to get. You won't get any fiat currency for free neither.

I don't know about those times when only a few people knew about Bitcoin, but I think it wasn't free ever. Yes, it was easy to mine at first, but even then you were to make some efforts to get your BTC.

Generally when I see a word "free" it's either a lie or it is referred to some kind of garbage. Bitcoin is not garbage, so it isn't free and never was.
2047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you use analysis when play gambling? on: February 21, 2017, 08:18:00 AM
Analyses don't really work for dice game which I mostly play. I do look at how long my streaks of losses and wins are but of course the past rolls ofthe dice have no affect on future rolls.
Yes there is no analysis in the dice game because this game only depends on luck. It would be better to playing dice in the short term because if we play long-term and continuously would be detrimental and make losing a lot of bets. In the dice game if you already get a little profit is better to stop and do not be greedy. Good analysis is required only in sports betting, it would help to win the bet.
No, by deciding that you will just have to play dice in a short term is a proof that you are using an analyses over it. You analyze that the longer you play the lesser your chances, hence, to increase your chances of winning you have to play it in a short period of time. Although as roll of dice the house has the edge but our luck can help us win in a short period of time.

I think he made a logical mistake. Indeed what he described was applying analysis to the dice game. But I disagree with you that that analysis really can help to win in a dice game. Sometimes we get a long losing streak right in the beginning and we lose all our balance right away without winning anything, and nobody is immune to that.
2048  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it profitable to run a Bitcoin faucet in 2017 on: February 20, 2017, 01:59:31 PM
Hi,

I have a question regarding your own BTC faucet. Is it profitable to run it in 2017?
I was thinking to run it via WordPress.
What initial investment is needed?

I'm not running a faucet myself, but just today I checked that freebitco.in transfered over 0.13 BTC, and that's for one week only, to their users. I think it's profitable if they are doing this for years already.

I think the amount of your initial investment depends mostly on how much your faucet will be giving and on how many users you will have. The more users the more you have to pay, but on the other hand you can make money on ads on your site if you have a lot of daily visitors.
2049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin "The end of inheritance tax" on: February 20, 2017, 01:40:05 PM
If there is one Tax that really pisses me off it is inheritance tax.  you work all your life and save alittle and then the fucking government comes along when your dead and takes a cut off what you leave your kids.   Angry  seriously fucking pissed even writing about it...

ps: sorry for the curse words but that is how angry that tax makes me.

So you mean now you can just save in BTC and then leave it to your kids? Well, if the government will not find a way to tax Bitcoin savings you are right. But actually I think they will. They are smart bastards, especially in that regard. What your kids can do in that case is to hide from the government what they inherited, with Bitcoin it would be easy to do. But I believe it is a crime, if I'm not mistaken.
2050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Supertition on: February 20, 2017, 12:47:54 PM
I don't believe in mystical things like that I think gambling is the calculation of figures and has nothing to do with mystical

I don't believe in mystical things either but when it comes to gambling people tend to start noticing that for example if the light in the room is on - they are losing and if the light in the room is out - they are winning. I don't know how to explain those things but they've been reported for centuries.

For example for me it's my mood. Although I know that the result of a bet doesn't depend on the the mood of the player, I'm trying to not gamble when I'm in a bad mood because I always lose when I'm feeling bad.
2051  Economy / Gambling / Re: PenguinDice: An Open Source Bitcoin Dice Betting Tor Hidden Service on: February 20, 2017, 11:57:09 AM
~

Is it possible that you logged in with your normal browser (using onion.to), and then tried to play with your tor browser? Or that you had two browser windows open on the site, and logged out using one window, but then tried to play using the second window?
~

-PenguinDice

Yeah, I think I had two browsers opened, Tor and Google Chrome, with your site in each, so that was my bad.

I really love playing on this site. Now my balance is 0.00106320 btc. I've won 0.00056320 with just 12 rolls.

2052  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-02-17] Dutch Pirate Party: The Negative Side of Bitcoin on: February 19, 2017, 11:32:32 AM
Actually there is not a sentence in that article stating that Bitcoin is bad or that Bitcoin is to blame for the widespread piracy of digital content. Pirate parties encourage piracy in the first place, so even if Bitcoin was to blame for that they wouldn't consider it a "Negative Side". IMO the title is just wrong.
2053  Economy / Economics / Re: Washington Post declares Bitcoin dead - R.I.P. on: February 19, 2017, 11:22:34 AM
I'm wondering who are those 2 people who have voted for "Yes - please accept my condolences." Bitcoin right now is more alive than ever and its price in USD only proves that.

IMO Washington Post is not the place where to look for reliable information. Forbes and Financial Times are much better in that regard.
2054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you first hear about bitcoin? on: February 19, 2017, 11:12:58 AM
Are you a bitcoin fan?
Do you spend a lot of time on bitcoin? Reading news, trading, or even writing your own analysis.
But how did you first hear about bitcoin?
Is it some articles you read about? Or just from a friend who has traded bitcoin for a long time?

Share your experience with us. Grin

I think I first heard about Bitcoin from my father who's a journalist when he was writing an article on the Silk Road bust. Unfortunately I didn't start to take Bitcoin seriously right away. It took years to understand that it's impossible to ignore Bitcoin in the modern world. Now I'm glad that at least from the Summer 2016 I've been taking it more seriously.
2055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what is definition gambling in your mind? on: February 19, 2017, 10:59:21 AM
Many people said the gambling is just a game and another people said it is Investment. How do you think?  Roll Eyes

I think it's just a game and like any other game it helps you to take mind off things, for awhile at least. Сonsider gamling like this and you'll be enjoying it instead of losing with it and hating it for that.
2056  Economy / Gambling / Re: PenguinDice: An Open Source Bitcoin Dice Betting Tor Hidden Service on: February 19, 2017, 10:33:05 AM
I was given 0.00050000 btc (50 betting units) to check how the site works. Here’s my review:

When I visited the site for the first time I've accessed it without Tor, simply by adding .to at the end of the .onion url like user piloder suggested in this thread.

But this time I’ve downloaded the Tor Browser and accessed the site through it.
My first bet was with 1 unit on 2 (Odds 35:1, Payout x34.650)
After hitting the ROLL button I got this message “Error! You can't access the play page unless you are logged in.” although I was Logged in.
Then I tried to make bets with other odds, but the result was always the same: “Error! You can't access the play page unless you are logged in.”

Then I logged out and logged in again.
I placed a bet with 1 unit on 2 (Odds 35:1, Payout x34.650) and … it has started working!
After losing 2 times in row fortune smiled upon me and I've won 0.00034650 btc!!!
Then I tried to play with other odds, 5:1, Payout x4.950. And after losing 2 times in row I’ve won again! This time 0.00004950 btc.

Overall it’s a great site IMO. Now I have 0.00085600 btc (85 betting units) on my Balance and I'm going to play there again when I have more time.
2057  Economy / Gambling / Re: just make idea ! on: February 17, 2017, 02:21:20 PM
I have posted about this in another thread
but it is not interested in my idea
Maybe here there are interested to listen to my ideas
My idea is to create a gaming site QUIZ
the game such as "one to be millioner", this game use the bitcoin system, with owners who set all the rules, maybe everyone here already knows a lot
good side benefits. If the player loses the game owners get a constantly flowing, and if the player wins then the owner's loss. In addition, if a program like this will add more knowledge. I think it's very important
I only convey an idea but can't make it happen
just the idea of friends. I hope my friends here love it

Good idea, but how could this work if everyone has Google? In "one to be millioner" game the whole point is that they can't use Google, right? Probably we should think on how to improve this idea. We should think on questions that can't be googled.
2058  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price? on: February 17, 2017, 01:21:09 PM
I know there are many big players who manipulate bitcoin price and make huge profits but can we the bitcointalk members also form a cartel and let bitcoin price never fall?is it possible that we manipulate price as I am sure most of bitcoin users visit this forum

I don't think that's possible. The thing is we can't trust each other and that's the main reason why we actually can't manipulate the Bitcoin price. If say we all agreed to not sell under $1,000 how can we controll that no one from us is breaking the agreement?
2059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I dream of a day BTC will be boring! [POLL] on: February 17, 2017, 01:13:30 PM
No, I don't think that the OP has been drinking.  Smiley

I've chosen 2022 10k btc because I really think it's possible. Will that be boring is another question though. I think we all be glad to see Bitcoin at that level and actually it will be fun.
2060  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would you do with your winnings? on: February 17, 2017, 12:45:56 PM
I cashout it my money in coinsph and i play a gamble again. For the time being i won again i cashout again and play again and so on so fort.

Wow! It looks like you are constantly winning. Is this true? If yes, you are very lucky gambler then. Can you tell please how much have you won in total?

If I win I just play with it and lose it eventually. That's why I never deposit much.
