2041  Economy / Economics / Re: Birth of Bitcoin in microfinance industry on: January 16, 2021, 06:50:22 PM
I've been thinking of using bitcoin to help individuals especially those womens (I mean a plain housewife) who wanted to have additional income. Then suddenly this idea of microfinance gave me such an interest.
In many countries the evolve of microfinance grows fast
In fact, the government is really looking on it as a big help to the economy. Since banking institutions cannot offer such loans to least people, this microfinance open up a door and lend ordinary people with such low interest to help them start their own business.
If bitcoin can be use by a microfinace institutions as a new source of fund I think the goal of poverty eradication of many governments can be solve.
But the fact still remains the same :
Why would Government institutions think about using bitcoins and not other government made cryptocurrencies ? Since we already know that everyone out there is now trying to do this only. The US , India, China....I do believe they will start using these fiat 2.0 for this. But if they wanted to give opportunities they would have easily done this with fiat too you know.
With such big stimulus bills coming in many countries I do believe they can start 0% bank loans and help people in no time. Bitcoins itself changes in value thus could cause problems for the people who took it as a loan. If someone took 1 BTC as a loan back in the 2019 and decided to give back now.... I think they will have to use their profits too , this will forever be incomprehensible.
2042  Economy / Speculation / Re: Big prosperty time big wealth on: January 16, 2021, 06:25:55 PM
According the guy whos fan i am and i can say his my financial advisor

We are about witness biggest prosperity in history
The bitcoin 37k is bargain price
And All indicators shows the big money is coming

My advice dont waste your time working on 8-9 slave job
Sell your house and car and invest its your once life time opportunity !

If you have a house , a car , property you are already rich honestly don't be greedy and engage in such things . Investing is different this would be gamble. But not just any , a gamble with your securities.
You should understand for a fact that this is the reason why people fail to accept cryptocurrencies, now bitcoins is not to be blamed for their decisions. They might have to wait for a year or two , the amount of money they will spend on taxis and rent would be equivalent of what they are gonna earn..you are not gonna get a 50$ appartment anywhere for sure.
Maybe if they go extreme they can sell off their land if the price of the land is not really rising drastically but I do think don't take this advice from anyone, secure your family first , don't be greedy.
However, contrary to what certain ideologies tell us, today the rich are richer than 100 years ago and the poor are also richer than 100 years ago. We can apply this to 200, 500, 1,000 years ago, etc.

This isn't the case. Enough data points at the wealth distribution of the world being less than during the French revolution.

Just because things are made cheaper now doesn't mean the monetary system is fairer or more balanced. The gap has not been minimised...

$2.9 k was cheap, $35k is pricier.
We did see a same increase in price of commodities and it's you could have brought a lot of things back then in a cent , now what can we do with that ??
It's a healthy system , all interconnected. Not that worse as it sounds.
2043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Joseph Stahura avoids jail for all the campaign funds he used for gambling. on: January 16, 2021, 05:50:52 PM
That was such a light sentence, he should be bar from running in election because that's corruption, he is lucky to have that kind sentence the amount is very huge, losing that amount of money, it can be considered addiction, he cannot control the mount of money he is losing and it's not even his money.

Plus the man is not even aware of it , the first step should always be knowing that you do need help.
I do believe the judge made a very wrong decision.

They probably need to work around the law with that. In essence, you really shouldn’t do that. They should be against the law, and I’m not sure if the funds came from fundraising or the public funds themselves. Probably it has a portion of his donations and just used it for that. I think those people who devote their time to help the former mayor should be the ones who get the funds since he didn’t use them for the right thing.

No this money particularly he did collect from the people though. The guy asked the people to fund for his campaign and then used this money 💰 to gamble. It is indeed the money of the people.

If anyone else would have done something like that I do believe that the punishment would have been really bad. Plus I do believe people here on the forum are much more open towards integrating the gambling with things like : responsible gambling , with things like: finding help. It indeed is a shame to see such cases and the government being unfair so bluntly.
2044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Joseph Stahura avoids jail for all the campaign funds he used for gambling. on: January 16, 2021, 03:34:24 PM
Quote
Former Whiting Mayor Joseph Stahura will not serve time in jail for wire fraud and filing a false income tax return. Judge James T. Moody sentenced Stahura to two years probation, one year home detention and a $7,500 fine at federal court in Hammond on Wednesday

Now what did he do ??
He used all the campaign money to gamble and pay for his credit card bills.

Why did he avoid jail time ??
Since as said by the lawyer that his crimes are not that serious and what he did didn't hurt anyone.

How much money did he use ??
More than $255,000

Does he think that he was addicted ?? NO apparently the mayor thinks it was all normal and he is not addicted to gambling.

The fact is , he didn't win 😂 anything thus I guess he should have realized it sooner that he is wasting all this money. He was extremely lucky that he was not given jail time. He could have easily been behind the bars for years. Had it been a normal person, they would have gotten more serious consequences.

Now was it fair ?!
What do you think ?

2045  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Netherlands pilot scheme to allow women to play in senior men's team on: January 16, 2021, 12:53:59 PM
The woman national team of the USA is the best women soccer team in the World. But they can't even win against a U-15 youth team. So I don't expect any women to join a first team of a professional soccer team. It's maybe good for some amateur clubs but that's it.

https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/

Wow
Opening old topic just to disrespect .
You should understand for a fact that women are never given equal opportunities, they are always facing much more hardships as compared to men's team. Even paid so less. Not even taken into consideration most of the time.

This is the proof.
--
See there are women stronger than man , yes they exist! It's more of a personal point of view and when we are talking about harassment I do think every player faces harassment on the field not just women. Right now India Vs Australia was a really clear example of such case.

Therefore if they do agree to something like that I think they would be ready for such cases in the future and would accept it.
2046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Resetting seeds question on: January 16, 2021, 11:27:27 AM
I don't really think that the odds and the probability should actually change when you reset seeds as the guy said how his gambling site told him to do that I really don't know the science behind it.

Plus if changing seeds are changing your chances of winning the bet then I do believe that 90% people won't usually do it and therefore it won't be fair to actually have a better chance for some .

I don't think mathematically anything will change and what is a program? If not mathematics ? I think changing too often would not only be a bother but unnecessary.

Maybe it will just make you more happy or make you trust your bet more.

How can you change a stable mathematical calculation if you can do that then it's for sure not fair.
2047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will institutions project Bitcoin in relation to gold? on: January 16, 2021, 10:56:01 AM
I do think if we are really going to talk about something like this then bitcoins might be diamond, ETH might be gold , plus Litecoin I don't know if it would be as valued as sliver though.

The value of Litecoin did rise to a considerable amount in the past but right now I do think there are many other coins and tokens with a higher level of considerable value as compared to Litecoin for sure.

Plus I don't think this statement would be same for everyone and every institution since you should understand the fact that it's more of a personal thing.

I think equations won't be credible for sure. They cannot peg one currency against another for sure. Their ups and downs are too uneven to even fit into one equation.
2048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Idea for an inflationary Bitcoin with (automatic-)regulated supply on: January 16, 2021, 09:19:25 AM
What you are saying right now is  actually what everyone who don't have btc reserved plus those who wish to become early adopters of something valuable are right now wishing about. But unfortunately I do think that you understand that fact that there is now no originality in making new cryptocurrencies, would be dead in months if not weeks plus why do you think that people call USD and other currencies a bubble. Why do you think people keep on looking for better options?

The whole idea is not to have something unlimited!! It wouldn't just be misused but at the same time it would be extremely close to what a fiat is but would just be defi.

The reason why it's valued is because of it's fixed supply. It is essential that you understand th fact that not everything would be coming to us with new opportunities. We should invest more in upgrading them , we need more soft forks to solve some issues and at the same time we need something different in contrast to fiat which btc is in every matter and other than that I do believe that ETH is also future proof because of it's technology.
2049  Economy / Economics / Re: Vaccination Started in India | Impact over Indian Economy & World? on: January 16, 2021, 08:47:40 AM
India is not the first country which is involved with vaccination and all , ofcourse the question is dependent on the fact " If the vaccination will work or not. I do believe that the most important part would be excluding the people who already got the infection and recovered , for the first part ofcourse.
But you have to understand the fact that it doesn't happen overnight. They have to at least get a booster dose and get tested for antibodies. I don't know which region you are talking about but where I know of they haven't yet started the normal schooling ofcourse.
You cannot control people in India for sure' , my parents are roaming around in the markets , unfortunately people don't  care much about the virus now.

What matters right now is :
1. Effectiveness
2. Affordability
3. Making sure people take booster dose and get tested again
4. Control
5. Lockdown after vaccination to actually see what's happening
6. How they intend to give them to poor people ?? Homeless people ?

There are a lot of factors and then again comes the question : who will get them first ?
2050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 🔥 If China confiscates miners - is Bitcoin still safe? [Threat Model Analysis] on: January 11, 2021, 06:02:22 PM
Ok I do believe this is a valid analogy but at the same time I do think we will have very different turn of events.
---------------------------

Chinese government starts taking control of mining farms

Many mining farms realizing what's happening since it would be in news so the miners will start fleeing the countries or will close up or go underground.

The hash rate drops

Not bitcoin itself but the transaction, trading will be prone to attack

Huge opportunity will be created for the already existing mining farms and miners

Hash rate recovers faster than ever

The Chinese government can never try a stunt like this again and the people just hate them more.

For me I do think this would happen. But then again we don't know. Let them try if they want to , we can recover , it's strong enough now.
2051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Effective tips to maximize low wager slot games on: January 11, 2021, 05:17:24 PM
I read somewhere that if you have 10 dollars to spend , instead of using it all on dollar slots. Use that 10 dollars on a penny slot. This way you will have much more chances of winning the bet and at the same time you will be able to play more games.

The dollar slots have lower chances and higher value but the people are rewarded more on the penny ones. Your information is very valuable.

But then again there is a question of manipulation by the owners I never really understood how to ensure you are not duped but to trust the owners of the game or the site you are playing on.

Low wager games make sense specially for non-highrollers like me who would like to have fun playing in the casino instead of winning or advertising high win bets. I think these games are actually created for the main purpose for which gambling is based on, which is "entertainment". I have played on progressive slots before and with a big amount but still I ended up with having all my money gone Cheesy

Haha exactly what happens 🤣 I think we might be just bad at gambling uk 😅 I have never won in my entire life!! Makes me wonder how rare of a dinosaur would be a person who wins in all these games as listed by the site. When I see all those names for the people who won I get excited and think yeah maybe today's my day 🤪 but God knows , low wager games save us from using 100's of dollars.
2052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reason(s) why Bitcoin price dropped on: January 11, 2021, 04:41:23 PM
Are there any news that triggered the Bitcoin price to drop from $41K to $33K as of now (10am EST 1/11/2021)?

Would a 100 BTC sell transaction causes a 1 to 3% drop in BTC price?  What is the price elasticity for BTC?

Hello
I do think the reason for the price drop is normal people who sold their bitcoins they waited long enough in the queue to encash their bitcoins and now with a 40k price border it was indeed a perfect opportunity.

They were aware that just like in 2018 the price will go back and they will have to wait.

There are always a low amount of holders and these are the people who made sure that the price is stable till 30k. Other than that it was people who cannot hold for a very long time.
People just panic sold.
Onto the other question:
There are 21 million Bitcoins mined.
About 20% are lost
So 1.68 million are in the market.
Now percentage of power that 100 BTC will have is :
100/1.68 million* 30,000
Which would be considerably low to consider in the first place.
100/1680000*30,000
This would be the price fluctuation they can cause In the whole pool.
Not that significant.
2053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is being discussed on CNN just now on: January 11, 2021, 04:05:19 PM
The price of bitcoins below 33k $  is completely natural since people are now panic selling after the rally of 40k $. This was supposed to happen sooner or later and it's not as aggressive as the price was back in 2018.
Well, I didn't watch this particular, but I think that with the increased interest, buzz, and hype, we will watch more mainstream media coverage. This could bring some fresh blood into our eco-system.
This could even mean that the government and the media can make negative reviews and the comments which can make people to panic sell more and the price can go well below 30k therefore this would be the perfect buying opportunity for the people who missed on the rally.

I will not consider it good. This means the price against fiat will drop now.

It's proven from the past that when mainstream media come into conversation and start highlighting the bull people jumps into the market but then market crash eventually. Whales start to sell and all those noobs in the community buy those coins. At some point price starts to drop and those noobs get panic attack and they also starts to sell in loss.

The opposite happens in bear market too. If anyone chase bitcoin based on the mainstream news then they will never be able to hold Bitcoin.

The media is never fair with Bitcoins therefore I believe they will do more harm than good and the people will say " see we told you "

The graph is fairly normal if people are there since the beginning it's completely fine if the price goes up and down after a major change.

Just wait and hold the coins.

Soon enough we will see a better rally in the future.
2054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Capital Gains Tax on Cryptocurrency on: January 11, 2021, 02:12:53 PM
Because my family member gave me cash, I made a purchase in my name so I am holding the coin for that person. The problem is, it will affect my capital gains tax in long term if he decides to withdraw the fund. Is there any way I can transfer the person's coin if I create a wallet in his name and not affect my CGT? Is there a better way for this?

Cheers!  Smiley

Hello
The moment you brought the coins in your name you would be taken as the owner ofcourse. It does not matter if it was for some other person. You have to understand the fact that you cannot register cash anywhere, it's impossible to make any governmental authority to understand the situation here.
There is nothing that you can do. Only thing you can do is to ask the person to pay the equivalent amount of tax which would go with the amount of bitcoins you are holding for him according to the governmental body. Right now I think you should stop doing it. If it's a significant amount then you can have a lot of problems.
Don't do that in the future. Make sure to help others but maybe they could make the wallets and you can help them in buying ? But don't buy in your name since now every good exchange have KYC and is connected to the bank account.
If you transfer the coin it would be taken as a trade and nothing else. You are liable to be taken responsible for it too.
2055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Attention: Biden has officially won, make sure your sportsbook pay you. on: January 11, 2021, 01:45:45 PM
I don’t know who needs to see this but hey it’s finally over as Biden has officially won, and now your sports book can no longer hide or make any excuses about not releasing your payment if you had wagered on Biden. It’s been a long stressful waiting period for you’ll, but now make sure that you’re paid, or post here if the casinos don’t pay so we all can know that they’re a scam site, and we all can then stay away from them.

Ofcourse the sites have already started paying the people out but it did go one too long. The havock that Trump created in the beginning and the problems that the riots are creating right now were not enough to actually let Trump win thank god.
Right now even if he would have magically won he would have been removed for sure from the white house forcefully.
Read this : https://www.google.com/amp/s/wap.business-standard.com/article-amp/international/top-republican-says-donald-trump-committed-impeachable-offences-121011000070_1.html
Not only that , the former president was banned from the twitter forever and at the same time for his supporters all hope is lost.
I myself am not living in US but fully aware of the situation and thus so would be your bookie or site where you placed your bets therefore if they haven't started paying you yet then that means you have to inform them of the inconvenience they are causing you , talk to the customer service and if it does not go well , go to the consumer court if it's legal in your country.
But I think they will need some time to process since this was a complicated matter.
2056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sorry guys.. Bitcoin is not for our day-to-day transactions. on: January 11, 2021, 12:34:10 PM
Hi
Actually I have been using something , considering the high fee ofc people won't use it like that. But I have seen people coupling their transactions together.
For example A and B have to send BTC to their account and then convert it into Local currency do what they do is they send in the same account together and the fee is 1/2. Now this works for any number of people that might be there. For me I have a small community , if my friends wish to send recieve we generally couple together. It really better and doesn't cause any problem but ofc depends on the situation and time.
But not always you have to do this you can just use segwit and put your fee to low or medium. It will take time for sure. But at the same time many sites are confirming the transactions after 1 confirmation. Which does help a lot and saves a lot of time and money.
I think we just need time to find something for LN , improve it and just modify it. It's good to go otherwise.
It actually depends on what you are paying for, sometimes the international transactions are way better when done in BTC.
2057  Economy / Economics / Re: Usa new currency digital dollar soon on: January 11, 2021, 11:51:33 AM
Usa digital dollar is coming soon
The  way to produce more currency it might be defi
Defi so yield farming will be new banking

But won't this digital dollar be 1:1 with USD? This doesn't really matter if they start a new digital dollar and peg it in the market when the price of bitcoins and eth is rising more then ever.

But it's not just USA but many countries, so if they start this it won't be as simple as them giving out a currency which is digital there will also be a matter of :

Competition.

They will try to outperfom China in this. However, they will use their own blockchain, for sure. And this is not good for crypto industry in general

Completion is always good but what's not good is :
Them trying to use unfair means , they will try and ban Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies which means that they will indirectly force people to use their digital dollar.

But what would happen for real ??
They still have to try and compete with the market at the same time taking care of the riots and COVID. This should be actually last in the line to care about.
-they need to first stabilize the country and keep the USD value normal by once and for all deciding the stimulus stop and try and make everything normal.

If a person is trying to achieve economic freedom why would they choose a digital currency owned by the government in the first place ?
2058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The gambler who manages to beat the casino through cheating on: January 11, 2021, 09:54:30 AM
Many casinos do cheat too , therefore it's only general that people will do negative things here too. At the end of the day we can only be responsible for our actions.
There are some things like card counting which is taken as cheating by many casinos but that how far one should go. Using your brain and mathematics is never something one should be ashamed to try but at the end of the day if someone cheats like these stated above ofcourse they need to have some serious actions taken against them.

It is indeed hard to catch people cheating in an online game but now casinos have become smarter , the ban on VPN have discouraged many people from accessing the casinos from the banned counties that can also be considered illegal.

Please do not follow anyone's path , last thing you need is some problems with the casino and legal authorities. Play for fun and don't play if you cannot afford to loose.

2059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Arbitrage on sports bets? on: January 10, 2021, 06:57:14 PM
Did someone of you try to do Arbitrage on sport bets in BTC gambling sites?
Some years ago i checked some sites and it wasn't possible (house edge was too big, bigger than the house edge in traditional sportbook sites).
Maybe something is changed in the last years?

Hello
I do believe Arbitrage is the most intelligent strategy that one can apply for sure. It is Legal despite this the bookers they usually ban you if they find you doing something like that. But what I don't understand is :
They still earn their profits!!! then if a person is legally doing something that might prevent his chances of loosing and they aren't harming your overall earnings then why ban it in t&c ?
I personally haven't done it because am not good at betting and due to Pandemic I do have a lot of pressure to not bet for a while therefore if I do make a bet I might just ask my friend to bet on other event with the higher outcome? This would work won't it ?
I do think the House edge is something that is same everywhere therefore it does depend on how much profit you can earn and if you will make a significant amount. Making 1-2$ won't be worth it to get banned 😂.
Let us know if you try it ?
Maybe post some pictures and tell us the profit ?
2060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin regret story, Need advise! on: January 10, 2021, 06:33:36 PM
I had love bitcoin ever since when it was being introduced to me by a colleague. I easily understand all the basic in cryptocurrency and that made me get excited even at first planning to invest with bitcoin. Yes, I did gets too much excited and invested in it on some of my earnings specifically from the real estate commission I made during the time when I was a part time real estate agent.

To cut the story short, I was seeing bitcoin as a way to learn more about financial freedom and financial literacy. Bitcoin for me was the perfect medium to achieve my goals on financial freedom. I have been dreaming like anyone else here that are not working but are earning through bitcoin investment.

However, all failed and I did not achieve or reach my goals. I end up into miserable decision making and are afraid because I stake my earnings that when the time bitcoin was crashing I end up selling it minding that bitcoin will going to end. It was like buying high selling low and that made me miserable right now. Why? It is clear that if I only hold bitcoin I can earn 7x of my money being invested. I can even build my dream house in the profit that I could get.

Now, it is a hard lesson to learn. I regret and hopefully there will be another day that bitcoin will be like this in the future.

For those who manage to earn huge. Congratulations guys! You did a great job.

BTW, could you make an advise to me on what to do right  now? I'm a little bit depressed.

Sana all merong bitcoin ngayon!
Hello
Most of us did that mistake , I had to encash because I had to pay my fee and other expenses so I do think there is no one that we blame here ? Just our situation. If you did have enough on your plate you wouldn't panic sell is what I believe.
That is what we call **panic selling**
I am really sorry since all the money you did invest created problems for you. I do believe you should for the time being" earn all that money back" , do not invest anywhere. WAIT!!
Take up jobs , earn it all back and then when you are ready to look at the price of bitcoins on google like every second then go and invest enough to make a good profit but not enough to loose everything if you need to hold on for long time.
Now if you will earn all that money back you could save yourself from the resentment. At the same time you will have a safety deposit.
But this time make a rule! Don't sell low!! Even if you think that the market is going to die. You might get *10 in just 1-2 years which is just like a FD but way better.
I wish you best of luck for the future and do not worry we all did this mistake and learned from it but you would get nothing out of regret.
Have a nice day.
