2061  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bjarne Stroustrup is disappointed that C++ is being used by BTC on: November 13, 2019, 05:46:17 AM
Fiat currencies were created by banking criminals, and it is the dominant currency used by virtuallt all criminals today. Bitcoin was created as an honest alternative for the use of honest people. Banksters don't like this, so they spread lies and misinformation about it so that they can create their own dishonest version in the future.
2062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cant send coins. worried if I upgrade I'll lose my wallet. on: November 12, 2019, 03:04:46 PM
If you are getting blue screens, then I would back up the whole of your hard disk onto a USB stick, or an SD card. It is more than your Bitcoins that is at risk.

How do you know it is a woman. Stating that is more likely to get you into trouble these days.

I see Little Mouse needs 8 more merits to become a full member. If I had sMerits I would give him the merits. I see this fella is doing really good job in the forum. Can anyone send him some merit for this post for me?

Done

I really have difficulty in understand why people need to lend or borrow Bitcoin. It's so easy to exchange it for fiat online. If a person isn't able to do that, then how are they going to be able to pay you back? Especially if Bitcoin shoots up in value.
2065  Other / Meta / Re: Make your topic title, posts more attractive on: November 12, 2019, 09:25:36 AM
Obviously, I'm completely out of touch with modern forum usage. I looked at the OP, and I didn't read it, as I considered it should be a web page article, and not a forum post. I still think of a forum as a venue for discussion, and thus it should contain links to external sources where detailed or complex issues are to be referenced.
2066  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners&Help on: November 12, 2019, 08:56:12 AM
You state projects in the plural, so the chances are that you won't find anyone to trust you. Choose a single project in which you have confidence, and earn the money to establish a basic infrastructure for it.
2067  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Justify feedback before you trust anyone on: November 12, 2019, 08:51:14 AM
If you need to decide if you want to trust someone, then reading their recent posts, and making a couple of searches is more reliable in my opinion. Don't forget that accounts can be sold or stolen here, and you need to determine the trustworthiness of the current controller of the account.
2068  Other / Meta / Re: Self-made Legendary Observer - first legendaries after the merit system. on: November 12, 2019, 08:22:00 AM

The merit system was designed to make it hard to rank up, and it looks like it's doing a damn good job.  But Jesus, it might be making it too hard to rank up, especially for members who make good, but not excellent, posts.  I'm still thinking more merit sources might be necessary, but I have no way to know how enthusiastic the current ones are about distributing merits.

Most of the members who have received more than a thousand merits have received them for forum related activities, and not for Bitcoin or crypto posting, and this includes me. Whilst stats and discussions about the forum are important, we shouldn't forget that we are here to promote and discuss Bitcoin, and to a lesser extent alts and political changes. Since I have reduced my forum projects, my merit receipts have taken a dive. I believe that merit sources and posters should look to Bitcoin discussions to earn merits.

We are entering a time of great political change. Brexit is massively important, not because the UK will be leaving the EU, but because it has exposed the control and activities of the Anglophone empire. Corporate stock buybacks are open and being discussed, and they indicate insiders opinions of the economic future. Stats like the Bitcoin, Gold and Silver prices, and indices such as the Baltic Dry, PMI and employment are revealing the extent of the changes that are happening. Bitcoin is an important catalyst for future change - lets talk about it.
2069  Other / Beginners & Help / Don't nest quotes in replies. on: November 11, 2019, 08:56:37 AM
>..<

I started to look through your latest replies to see if I thought that any were merit worthy. I noticed that you tend to use nested quotes, and I don't award merits to such posts. Quote pyramids are really annoying, and don't really contribute to the reply. You should focus on the point you are addressing, and not duplicate the whole conversation.
2070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that cryptos such as Bitcoin would be mainstream? on: November 11, 2019, 08:33:56 AM
Bitcoin is unique, and most people cannot understand how a virtual asset can have real value. But what is value? Denomination it in terms of a valueless asset such as the US dollar, just distorts mass perception. The interesting development to watch is the proposed gold backed Chinese "crypto" currency.
2071  Other / Meta / Respond to thread without bumping, and report to followers on: November 11, 2019, 07:37:54 AM
I edit the last post in a thread if it was made by me. This allows me to update the news without bumping the thread. The downside of doing this is that it is not obvious that the news has been updated. Maybe it would be worth adding an update entry to the "following" report if a member is being followed. ( is this already available ? )
2072  Other / Meta / Using a brand new username for each forum on: November 11, 2019, 07:31:21 AM
Using the same name on multiple forums and platforms is a useful way to build a net identity. If you want to protect yourself against identity theft, then register a .com, and use that for you forum name(s). I own the domain Jet Cash .com, and if I want to use it elsewhere, then you just report on that on your web page. Put a link in your profile so that people can check.  Take care if you put the link in your sig though. I was chucked off Kitco for including a simple link to Jet Cash in my sig. I joined their forum because they were talking rubbish about Bitcoin ( it is a precious metals forum ), and I posted a few facts about the Bitcoin mechanism. Maybe they didn't like that.

There is a converse to this as well. If you use a name in various other locations on the net, then you might want to register it as an alt here to prevent passing off by malicious or scamming net pirates. Another possible use it to separate your business and personal interests, and I think several members do this here. My Baronets and Kuffy alts are examples of this.

2073  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Halving Effect??? on: November 10, 2019, 02:22:52 PM
The block mining reward will have a decreasing influence on the value of Bitcoin. As coins are removed from the available pool that was created when the genesis block was laid, the rewards from transaction fees will replace them. We may also see investment houses increasing their block mining activities. After all, what better way is there to move Bitcoin between investment wallets than by using your own mined blocks. It frees you from government restrictions for a start.
2074  Other / Off-topic / Re: Electric Cars and The Future on: November 04, 2019, 03:11:53 PM
I wonder how the electric car owners will get on when the power companies go bankrupt.

Efficient diesel id better for the environment than electric cars, and pretty soon the politicians will have to admit that. All electric cars do is to export pollution from the cities into the countryside. However taxing diesel car owners is great for the exchequer, and they make it much easier for the police to control drivers from a remote control centre.

Also, we should dump the idea of self-driving chains of lorries, and go back to good old electric trains.
2075  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Changes to the UK camper van conversion laws. on: November 04, 2019, 07:36:00 AM
It is a myth that people living in camper vans do not own property. I know of several people who own two or more houses which they let for the income, and they have adopted a mobile lifestyle in camper vans. I'm considering doing it, and I own property in Surrey.

Another myth is their impact on the environment, and on local economies. A camper van resident has less of an impact on the emvironment than a house dweller, and may well use less fuel than a guy driving to work and heating a house. They are often healthier as well, and thus don't place as many demands on the misnamed health service.

Most parking areas have hourly charges, and this remuneration is levied by the local council. Failure to pay these charges results in a fine, and this goes to the council as well.
2076  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What about Gibraltar? on: November 03, 2019, 12:54:14 PM
I switched to UK food products quite  a while ago. For example, Somerset brie is creamier and has a better taste (in my opinion) than the sterile product that France pushes out ito its export market. Britain buys twice as much from the EU as it sells, so the EU will be in a mess if we stop trading with them, and our food prices will drop, and quality will improve, once we are out of their control.

Don;t even start on banking, almost all of the EU derivatives are traded through London, and LIBOR is the defined rate in most of them. Having to rewite the derivative agreement will cause massive losses for EU banks, as most of them are toxic.
2077  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Earning Bitcoin with cheap camera equipment. on: November 02, 2019, 03:36:10 PM
I haven't closed the thread to anything other than forum rule breakers. My feeling was that mobile phones that can take decent pictures are too expensive for some members in poorer counties.

Since I started this thread, I have learnt a lot, and I'm moving towards macro photography with vintage lens, and boca images that exploit the imperfections in the lens. The idea was to try to build a project that could help members to build a passive income with very little financial investment. There didn't seem to be much interest, so I've moved on to challenges that I find interesting, and that help me to improve my knowledge of photography.

2078  Other / Politics & Society / Changes to the UK camper van conversion laws. on: November 02, 2019, 02:43:25 PM
The British government has just introduced some changed to the requirements for reregistering a vehicle as a camper van, There are some interesting new requirements.

- You have to have camper van decals on both sides of the van, and this is to allow the police to recognise it as a campervan.
- You have to have at least two windows on one side, and, no doubt, this is to allow the police to look at the interior.
- No "pop tops", and this would appear to be designed to stop camping in restricted height parking lots.
- You have to have an external awning rail, again this is probably for ease of identification.
- It has to be a high top van

There are obviously a number of interior changes required to make it habitable, and there are some restrictions on the vehicles that can be converted - not buses for example. With the increasing numbers of people moving out of standard housing to adopt a mobile lifestyle, I wonder if the gov. is panning to introduce restrictions on camper van parking in the future.

btw - pensioners selling their houses, and moving into camper vans are called "snowbirds".
2079  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What about Gibraltar? on: November 02, 2019, 09:12:54 AM
I'm lucky enough to visit Somerset fairly often, and the last time I was there I was given some "Sops in Wine" cider apples. A lovely old English apple with pink flesh. The EU forced us to destroy a lot of our tradition apple trees, and it was sad to see large orchards full of traditional apples being burn in Kent. Now most of the supermarkets seem to sell varieties like the mis-named pappy French Golden Delicious. Obviously it will take many years to reverse the destruction wreaked on out agriculture, and it may net even be possible, as most of it seems to be owned by EU or Chinese farming/banking conglomerates.
2080  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What about Gibraltar? on: November 02, 2019, 08:04:52 AM
I've been waiting for over 24 hours now for Jet Cash to shoot me down.

There is no problem with trade in Ireland. The only problem is that the puppet masters don't want to lose their UK cash cow, so thay have manufactured a non-existent problem to divert attention from the Main issues. In trade, this is the fact that the UK purchases twice as many goods from the EU in comparison to its sales, and the food is of lower quality and more expensive than would be available if we return to British standards. The real solution is for Southern Ireland to leave the EU with the UK, and become part of the new British Commonwealth.

My fears have been realised, as I knew that Johnson as an Eton/Oxford banker would  want to keep the UK shackled in the EU. You can't even call it treason, as the British Crown is one of the triumvirate that dominates the cabal that rules the EU.

@styca - you posted as I was making my post, so I have given you 5 English sMerits. Smiley
