2081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dude forces his roomate at gunpoint to sell bitcoins! on: January 27, 2015, 11:43:26 AM
I also heard about a guy who got his miners stolen ( think it may have been ASIC ) because he posted up he had received them on this forum I think, this is why I get pretty pissy with strangers on the internet who go around demanding personal information like addresses without any real cause for it.

The only time you need an address or post code is if you intend to post something to a customer or receive something from a merchant, don't get baited into posting your personal information online unless it's absolutely necessary. Whoever is doing it is likely some extremely dodgy person looking out for someone who's easily intimidated.
2082  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-26-01 CNBC: Bitcoin is done with its 'tumultuous teen' years on: January 27, 2015, 11:26:05 AM
Yeah but they still don't know what the fuck they're talking about and just make up the majority of it to cover that up.
2083  Other / Off-topic / Re: GTA V on PC on: January 27, 2015, 11:14:08 AM
I consider it my duty to pirate the fuck out of that game when it releases, Rockstar studios are deliberately screwing them over so I don't see why they should be supported, they should fuck off to consoles and let some indie developers make some open world games that are better. From what I've seen the game also isn't that much different from GTA IV except larger and the characters are less likeable, rockstar are fucking us around on purpose, it does not take that long to make a PC port at all.

I'm not impressed with the way they've treated the GTA gamers in general lately, expect them to churn out all manner of crappy DLC and also force you to sign up to several DRM sites as well as they did last time before you can play the game legitimately. Elite: Dangerous will be the main game I'll throw money at this year I suspect, yes it has online DRM but at least it was designed for the PC and not just as a blatant cash grab port.

Not that you could get a game like Elite: Dangerous to work on a games console anyway LOLOLLOLOLOLOL Cheesy
2084  Other / Politics & Society / Re: end of days? on: January 27, 2015, 11:06:48 AM
The technology is in fact there and so are very legitimate theories, the problem is finding people who will risk the money and unfortunately a lot of those people who could afford to all have their money tied up in oil companies etc. so they have no interest in it.
2085  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Handsome Tax in Japan? on: January 26, 2015, 11:23:49 PM
What the fuck?! LOL! Cheesy This is insane, I'm actually going to have to read this carefully to make sure I understand it right.

No they aren't!

after having children. 23.8 percent of women said sex was “bothersome.”

^ I'd like to point out that the highlighted part is precisely why I think there is a desperate need for a male contraceptive pill. Yeah yeah, that's right you assholes, blame porn and the virtual world, because it can't possibly be that women can act so unpleasant no one wants to be with them.
2086  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-26-01 CNBC: Bitcoin is done with its 'tumultuous teen' years on: January 26, 2015, 09:20:50 PM
I love the pure hatred coming from people on the comments page, soon they'll get quieter and quieter and people won't bother paying attention to them anymore. Also, now I know I'm not paranoid considering this article was only posted two hours ago the people who are posting their made up bullshit about Bitcoin and attacking it are definitely deliberately searching for Bitcoin related news articles and sites.

No wonder they're so aggressive and angry all the time, they're purposefully trying to turn people away from it.
2087  Other / Off-topic / Re: recommend me games that are like Red Alert on: January 26, 2015, 08:46:30 PM
I was searching around for a way to get Red Alert 1 and C&C 1 back so I know how you feel Cheesy unfortunately though a lot of the developers now have abandoned base building in the RTS genres in favour of this MOBA bullshit we keep seeing everywhere.
2088  Other / Off-topic / Re: recommend me games that are like Red Alert on: January 26, 2015, 08:35:33 PM
http://www.openra.net/ - Also containes Dune 2000 and the original command and conquer, all set up for modern computers so you don't have to do any ridiculous tweaking to get it all to work.
2089  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who got burnt today! on: January 26, 2015, 07:50:39 PM
I've been doing nothing but making small amounts of money these past couple of weeks, as others have said, you must be selling at a loss and badly timing your trades.
2090  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Company Seeks "Je Suis Charlie" Trademark on: January 26, 2015, 06:12:47 PM
You can't fucking copyright a phrase or word, it's as stupid as when I saw Bethesda attempting to sue Notch for the use of 'scrolls' in one of his games.

Don't forget about King attempting to copyright "candy" and "saga".  On top of that, their game is a ripoff of another game which precedes it, Candyswipe, which they tried to sue, too.  It's incredible, the extent to which intellectual property destroys the market.

Which also happens to be a rip off of a little game I've mentioned several times called Bejeweled Tongue
2091  Other / Off-topic / Re: This community must be more open to people! on: January 26, 2015, 05:57:02 PM
wow ... that's a nice one scam.
So he was selling laser cut wood as hand made ? wowowow...

I once met an artist from St.Ives who was laser cutting every piece but then he would "rough them up" by hand, to make every piece *sort of* one of a kind. Not sure if that was a legit thing to do?
I bet most people do this

If you think that's bad, read about people selling literal piles of dirt for thousands claiming it has some deep meaning behind it, this stuff needs to be ousted for the crap it is but I think it should be done in a less aggressive way.

2092  Other / Meta / Re: REMOVE NUBBINS FROM THE DEFAULT TRUST LIST FOR REPEATED TRUST ABUSE on: January 26, 2015, 02:46:27 PM
This kind of thing has me worried for future merchants more than anything, particularly me since I haven't even sold anything yet. Can I expect the same kind of foaming at the mouth back and forth responses from people who look at my work? While I think it's always good to keep an eye out for scammers and the vigilance of the majority of Bitcoin users is fantastic, letting a mob lynch anyone who sneezes funny is not only unfair on a lot of newbies also does set my paranoia off and makes me wonder what the people doing this have to gain?

Sure, you may get quite a few guys being dodgy fucks and get lucky, but what's going to happen when you pick on the wrong person? I hope Open Bazaar gets plenty of updates because I'm getting genuinely worried about this community, there's nothing worse than a violent mob that thinks they're infallible.
2093  Other / Off-topic / Re: This community must be more open to people! on: January 26, 2015, 01:42:25 PM
Yeah, he'd been ousted for trying to sell his goods handmade when they were apparently laser cut, people didn't have a problem with his art, it was accused he was false advertising so he could charge more. I did take a look at that video and the question now is why he wouldn't post that stuff up to begin with to be honest and I should probably take a better look at what people who have actually bought his stuff say.
2094  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Blowout Victory For Syriza In Greek Elections on: January 26, 2015, 01:17:17 PM
Yeah, don't compare fascists to capitalists please, seems a favourite tactic of some people to try claiming that capitalists are all just nazi's.

2096  Other / Meta / Re: necro threads on: January 26, 2015, 12:37:03 PM
If they're just clearly posting irrelevant crap to make their post count go up then report them, I do it all the time, very, very rarely some necro's are legitimate so I've left them alone but often they're just being spammed.
2097  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many messages you have on: January 26, 2015, 12:33:28 PM
0 for me. What do you guys do here to have hundreds of messages?

easiest way is to spread FUD and troll other people. You will have so many hate messages

Actually that's true, I piss off religious people quite a bit so a couple of them have occasionally tried to argue with me in PM because of course I'd publicly embarass them if they were posted public lol Cheesy I also had to deal with a scammer who tried to blackmail me awhile back as well. As a long term member you also get people who think your rich and try to target you for scamming opportunities or they send blatant begging PMs.

Long story short, the more visible you are in the community the more likely you are to be targeted.
2098  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Blowout Victory For Syriza In Greek Elections on: January 26, 2015, 12:24:34 PM
I know it may sound harsh, but I think it would be good if these socialists took things over, then people won't have so much faith in them if they see how badly the socialists can fuck things up too when they don't know what they're doing and I assure you they don't. Many of these people do not think ahead beyond getting elected and then when they finally come to power they don't know what to do with themselves.

Communism and Socialism can't work if the majority of people suddenly decide they don't care about working and don't want to keep the system going and people take more than they give.
2099  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: Disable "normal users" from being able to lock Scam Accusations on: January 26, 2015, 11:32:14 AM
As with self-moderated threads if people are claiming they want a discussion and keep messing with things just create your own thread and talk about them there, nothing stopping you, I remember awhile back there were certain users that were spamming self-moderated threads all over the board so people just started making unmoderated duplicates, eventually the users involved learned their lesson.
2100  Economy / Economics / Re: EUR might drop below USD on: January 26, 2015, 09:36:11 AM
If Greece leaves the Euro zone, that would make the Euro stronger, and that may happen.

That's not likely to happen, I suspect what will happen is more countries like Switzerland who are fed up of footing the bill for countries like Greece will leave the Euro and as a result the euro zone will end up crashing because all you'll have then are countries left alone with massive debts that they don't intend to pay off.

Of course, the people they will blame are the countries that chose to leave instead of going along with their bullshit, they will likely also make the usual statements that leaving the euro zone is isolationism and so on and that the countries are just looking out for their own interests.
