2122  Economy / Economics / Re: Ron Paul Doesn’t Believe Bitcoin is “True Money” on: May 08, 2014, 10:40:17 AM
Ron Paul advocated for competing currencies before it was cool

Competing currencies was what was in place in the states when the most wealth was created, the taxes were low, there were no income taxes and no FED

Nobody would have moved to the states if the taxes were so high

Buffet made a lot of money with his investments in the insurance business
I heard so many negative stories about insurance companies trying to steal my friends that I don't trust them much

Compare the average annual medical costs in the US / EU with those in Singapore / UAE / Hong Kong.etc. There is no difference in quality, but the former is almost 5 times more expensive than the latter. And the primary reason is those insurance companies.

There are insurances companies in Singapore UAE HK but less government, less taxes and less action of the state on the market

When the state intervenes the prices always go up, we saw that for the university tuition costs as well
2124  Economy / Gambling / Re: Listing Betting Sites Total # Of Bets on: May 08, 2014, 10:34:56 AM

YES YOUR RIGHT but according to my stats diecnow will overtake PD in 2 months.

Ceux qui disent "le bitcoin c'est bien on peut faire sans les banques, vive un monde sans régulation ...etc" se trompent de combat à mon avis.

tu as raison.

2126  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: An example of how NOT to trade on: May 08, 2014, 10:29:53 AM
While true the market in my particular instance was going down which is why I was tempted to just sell at market instead of taking the risk and waiting for my standing sell order to get triggered that would have been a loss if I wouldn't have waited so once again glad I remembered this thread and took my finger off the trigger, so to speak

Glad it worked out this time.
Correctly 'guessing' when to jump on the current move (or to wait) is one of the hardest things about trading.

Some like having orders ready stop losses and take some gains automatically but when daytrading I think it is better to stay connected to the market and decide everyday if we should buy/hold/sell according to our feeling and analyse

Would you still stay connected if you had a trailing stoploss option ??

You have to go AOK from time to time but just relying on stop losses is dangerous, you need to see why/how the market is moving when it does to know if it is best to hold sell or buy
2127  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: May 08, 2014, 10:27:09 AM
If everyone hoarded bitcoins.
Bitcoins will end up up up.

Each time the price goes down it shakes out the weak hands and more btc end up with the hoarders and users

This is just wishful thinking. If it were so, the price wouldn't go down at all! Cool

It is a fact that when the price goes down the members that believe less sell and the members that believe in Bitcoin most don't sell

And so what? If the price goes down, it just means there're more sellers than buyers per unit of money (and the other way round). As simple as that... Cool

And it shakes the weak hands

2129  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 08, 2014, 10:22:57 AM
The bulls are behind the train trying to push-start it again.

Yeah, this doesn't make sense to me. The "bulls" should already own bitcoin. And its hard to get money into the exchanges, so the "bulls" aren't buying new coins.

That's why I think this is short covering. I think shorts were taking profits as quickly as they could.

Unlike the rally last week, there is no selling pressure, no dumping. Its like the sell function on Houbi has been turned off.

The bulls are still buying and they are bringing new players in the market that buy as well

There are 3800 new BTC / day though
2130  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: May 08, 2014, 10:21:08 AM
two rules to bitcoin
1 - buy bitcoin 2 - dont sell bitcoin (till this goldrush is done - this could take some time.
then when market cap is reached (think BIG numbers), spend away... you'll never cash back to fiat as the bitcoin economy by then will be all encompassing.
it's still dirt cheap.

The main mistake is to trade it when you are not good nor dedicated to winning because you will end up losing or winning less than if you just hold

A lot can go wrong but the US and Europe economies will suffer so much soon that I can't be anything but optimistic for Bitcoin

What will you do if you have 2 bets of 2.5BTC??
will you split the high roller bonus?
As explain formally in the OP, in this situation the winner of the "high roller bonus" would be selected randomly among the 2.

if someone makes 3 bets of 1 BTC will it be considered 3BTC?
No, the "high roller bonus" is for a single bet.
But if you play more bets you have more chance to get one of the bonus of Crazy fact #2.

I think it would be better to split the 1B or 0.5B between the highest bet instead of finding the winner by a draw
æ
Point taken. But we prefer to make a whole big prize rather than dilute it.
(With your reasoning, the 5 bonus of crazy fact #2 would get insignifiants if shared among all bets...).

I understand it would not make sense for the 5 0.05B bonus to be diluted, the largest prize will probably not be shared anyway
2134  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: The Lucky Bit regulars betting pools - Bonus Round - Red pool now open! on: May 07, 2014, 10:14:42 PM
It seems there is 0.52 so far, can you confirm?  https://blockchain.info/address/1LBregs3t4goLpvBghbJbFLoyt1rPL3jJh

Can we send any amount to participate and we will get a fair share?

Correct. 268104 satoshi remain in the pool from leftover fee donations, so at the time of this posting there is 0.571BTC in the pool.

You can send any amount that is a multiple of 0.001BTC for it to count. If the pool wins the prize, it will be distributed in the same way a game win is distributed: equally according to share. Of course, the bet will still play and possibly earn a win of its own which will be distributed as well.

0.68 atm it is interesting since the highest better was less than 1B last happy hour
2135  Economy / Gambling / Re: EveryDice.com | Referral Bonus! on: May 07, 2014, 10:10:22 PM

Wasn't he talking about PD? 1% on PD and you can bet tens of bitcoins at once, you get 1000satoshis/min for free and PD3 is coming with a lot of new features

I wonder if a side effect of China's exchanges being hamstrung (at best) is that Chinese miners will stop mining because there's no easy way to sell their coins. That would lead to a drop in difficulty, benefiting miners elsewhere - though potentially placing further downward pressure on prices on the remaining exchanges.
I would think that the commercial Chinese miners can easily sell their coins in the Western exchanges or to Western clients, using Western bank accounts, all legally.  The closure of Chinese exchanges may be a problem for small independent miners, perhaps.

Chinese miners hold like crazy

If anyone is interested: I saved about 1 hour of Huobi's transaction log from earlier today (2014-07-07) centered on 02:54 UTC.  That's in the middle of the small hump that preceded today's mini-rally.

http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~stolfi/temp/2014-05-07-0254-HUBI.txt

The file has 879 transactions.  It was built by repeated copy-pasting from Bitcoinwisdom's chart (which shows only the last 200 transactions) reformatted and cleaned by a couple of gawk scripts.  Beware of possible gaps or errors.

Unix users may be interested in the scripts too:

http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~stolfi/temp/cleanup_bitcoinwisdom_trans_log.gawk
Basic reformat/cleanup script.  Click on the chart, then CTRL-A CTRL-C, then paste into a file,
then pipe the file through, for example,

  gawk -f cleanup_bitcoinwisdom_trans_log.gawk -v curr=CNY -v ex=Huobi -v dt=2014-05-07

http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~stolfi/temp/remove_dup_trans.gawk
A script to merge several files obtained as above, with overlapping time intervals.
Save each CTRL-A CTRL-C to a separate file, run the cleanup fillter above on each file,
then concatenate the files in chronological order (most recent last), and
pipe the concatenation through

  gawk -f remove_dup_trans.gawk

I just lost some time looking at that, explain it to me

Please don't hate me.

Insurance companies are not dumb.

The life insurance usually is to cover the mortgage or working income.

So its great if they purchased it when they were younger 30-50.

But if they are 80 and ask for life insurance... they will not get very far I promise you that.

Also again its the elderly person we are talking. Not their spouse or their children.

What if they have no children and no wife/husband ?

Its sad but it happens alot.

Kr,

Malcolm O

Well im talking about getting insurance when they are in there 40s and 50s, this is the secret of how people make money on there parents I know this jewish lady who did that on her father cause we all know men usually are the first ones to go.

I don't understand what you are talking about

If you don't cheat or know better when you take an insurance you are ev<0
