2181  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ASIC Firmware & Hardware, Understanding & Optimization on: August 27, 2013, 08:03:10 PM
Please note that the two reported temperatures from the single-sc are not everything. This values are coming from two sensors, which are somewhere between a 8-ASIC cluster and the +1V regulation for this cluster. They are not in the ASICs or inside the 8-ASIC cluster circuit nor inside the +1V regulation circuit.

Even if you may see only a small temperature increase by changing the fans or even see a decrease by changing the whole setup by e.g. opening the box or something like this, it doesn't mean that the ASIC's or any other important parts are not getting much more hot than they should. Also watch the hardware error rate carefully!

Soon I'm ready to report my results from looking for fan alternatives....
In effect, what you are saying is...the chips are actually hotter than reported. Correct?

Is that a good thing?
Not necessarily. The DC/DC supply generates a significant amount of heat as well, and doesn't have the benefit of the nice heatpiped cooler attached to it. It's possible that the temperature reported from the sensors close to the output inductor could be higher than the die temperature.
Is the next generation (Monarch) going to have a true (die level) temp sensor?

How much did the process cost so far? (30$?)

How involved was the paper filing process? (or did you do it online?)
2183  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Time to sue ButterflyLabs - Big Single-SC owner let's league for class action on: August 27, 2013, 06:45:50 PM
Watch out, you really can have an ISP pull the plug on your account.
Having consulted a lawyer, I truly hope he goes that route.  I already have a countersuit ready for his threat, and if he gets my internet access taken down then I have a suit ready for either him or my ISP.  My ISP if they are too dumb and act on information from a random stranger without getting his personel information, and against him if he does provide that information.  Unlike his spurius libel claim, I *will* have a monetary impact if he gets my internet turned off.  Up until he presents his case in a court of law and gets a favorable ruling, any action by hm against me is actionable.
I understand your sentiments. But shutting down a persons account is very easy...dangerously so...and legally.

There are so many spurious terms of agreement that you two have with your ISP, that if he proves you were at a certain location and posted a certain thing, that may or may not be enough to get your account terminated at the ISP.

I know this because I have seen grown babies (manchilds) do this to one another when they get a little too stupid for words. Then they turn to the FBI to have each other investigated like idiots.

You'd probably think that people in high authority in the US government and the Armed Forces are different than you average folk. Lets just say, the only difference is their ability to use English properly. Some of the nasty ones even turned to department heads at AFOSI and DIA (and/or the FBI) to have them frivolously investigated.

--------------------

Point being, watch out. (to both of you)

Does anyone have any great ideas?
People lost tons of money in favor of the few chip makers and you blame us for complaining, instead of doing something to make people not to lose money when they first appreciate the bitcoin mining idea?

Please, review your stand.

Maybe you should complain somewhere else.

I don't recall the sub forum being called "Complaints about asic companies and feel free to shout down anyone else who is not complaining", although it might be a good idea to create one so we can build a fence around the complainers.
While those outside the fence write love poems to the Asic manufacturers, I take it?

Might also be worth complaining to BitPay.

I wonder why everyone ignores bitpay considering they are the payment processor for most of the transactions?

Keep chanting your mantra, <Oooom... long con... Ooooom>.  You refuse to acknowledge anything but your limited point of view, even though you are wrong.

I wonder what causes someone to have such an emotional investment in defending BFL? They're a bunch of assholes completely fucking over their customers.

They claim that most of the hashrate increase is caused by them. If that is true, it means they took so many orders that if they shipped them on time their customers would never make much back on their investment, without price increases.

So what is it that motivates people to come on here and vociferously defend them?  If it's the case that most of the hashrate increases are due to their shipping units, then their customers were fucked all along.

Anyway, you don't really have much of an argument anyway, as far as I can tell.  You don't have any numbers at all. So it's not even clear what you're trying to say.
Inaba already admitted it openly.

Check my post a couple of days ago.

Yep, nothing in this pic (taken from their website) could possibly indicate that their new product line (revealed after Jody said that comment about their current line) is a pre-order.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Three weeks later, guess what? Can you spell Monarch?

I'm not going to threaten ignores or insult, but three weeks ago, Jody was referring to their product line as it stood then. They then announced a new product, of which, yes, they are taking pre-orders. Just like nearly every other ASIC producer out there. That's not a lie, and not at all shocking, despite the headline you chose to give it.

More appropriate headline would have been far less sensationalistic "BFL accepting pre-orders on newly designed product". But then, there are already several threads about the Monarch.

I have no idea of what you're in reference to, for it seems to me to be a standalone statement.

Here's the complete text: (formated poorly)

Jalapenos shipping through November 9 paydate

Little Singles: none shipped today (today I should be a coward and turn off comments, because although it's not my fault they haven't made Little Single boards, you will pummel me with your comments for it.) Little Singles are still ahead of Singles and MiniRigs, though.

Singles: It seems we have only 4 more orders left for June 23, but still no PSU's so I can't ship those orders yet. So we shipped orders from June 23 and June 24, 2012 which were able to accept units without PSU's. Thanks again for emailing your willingness to accept units without PSU's. It makes sending orders to production so much faster. I don't answer those emails--I archive them in a folder for reference as I'm sending the orders. If your order comes up and I don't see an email from you about the PSU's I will email you, so don't worry about whether I got it.

MiniRigs from June 23 shipped.

Response to Comments:

I did not hire Josh and I do not work for Josh. We are equals in he company even though he is way smarter than I am (in some things). Did you know he can speak Korean and can make BTC Miners light up like toys?

We are no longer taking pre-orders. Since we have fully-tested products, we are taking ORDERS.

I am asking about the BitSafe wallet myself. Thank God we don't have pre-orders for those.

Yes, at that point in time, she was clearly referring to Jalapeno's, LIttle Singles, Singles and Mini-Rigs. Monarch was not announced yet.

Preorder means ordering something that does not yet exist. The first four do exist. They're shipping (not as fast as people would like, but it can't be denied that they're shipping), hence people sending money for those are making orders.

Two or three weeks later, they announced the Monarch. A product which is not shipping yet, but for which you can send money to get in line for when they do ship (pre-orders).

Seems clear. She was just referring to the status of BFL at that point in time, and that point in time only.

Lucas, your argument is sound and well-crafted.

In reference to your last sentence, for the past ~10 months, I've been asking Josh about the FCC cert. process. All the questions I've ever asked were relatively clear, but the one time I reword the question incorrectly, Josh addresses the screen aspect with a link to a Nexus 7 approval PDF on the FCC site. He knew full well what I, among others asking, was in reference to, yet opted to take advantage of the situation.

I, and over a dozen of us (secretly), are now on a mission to bring these motherfuckers down. ANYBODY, still having an order late in the queue position best do your best to get your money out ASAP.

I promise, folks, it's about to get ugly. And there's only one way to stop me. I live at...

GAME ON!

To me this says you are the asshole.  Why go after a company before they can provide products to the other customers that ordered?  If your crusade manages to damage their operation before I and the folks who ordered around me are able to receive our hardware, that makes you the POS who kept whining until the company had to respond.

Go grab a posterboard and picket their operation if it is so important to you.
You sound worried. Simply ignore the truth of the matter and put it out of mind like your own BFL orders.

Besides, you make it sound like BFL main threat is from PG. Have you noticed the multitude of people talking to lawyers about BFL not delivering in a timely and reasonable manner? You should worry about them instead. Those are most likely to impact their operations.
2192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: knC legit? on: August 27, 2013, 01:48:25 PM
I think I would say no one knows yet. It is still at a pre-order stage and I do not know if they have delayed anything as of yet.

I believe they have posted a prototype board. So for what it is worth, there it is.
2193  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ASIC mining board project on: August 27, 2013, 01:33:33 PM
[Speculation]
A play on numbers:

BFL has 75 wafers with a maximum yield of 1,100 chips per wafer at nearly perfect yield.

3000 Single SC units will consume: 16 x 3000 = 48,000 chips

3000 Little Single units will consume: 8 x 3000 = 24,000 chips

2000 Jally's units will consume: 2 x 2000 = 4,000 chips

Total tally so far: 76,000 chips required.

Minirigs are not counted. (Minirigs should require 8 x 16 per box = 128 chips...384 per order)

===================

Question, where does BFL get the rest of their chips if wafer yields are 90% or less? Where do the mini rigs get their chips from?
2194  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Do we want to continue to allow varrious vendor hate in here? on: August 27, 2013, 12:29:50 PM
Actually the real problem is that people turn many threads into a pointless wastes of time ... and then keep posting the same thing over and over for months ... like some mind numbingly stupid belief that no one knows or understands that a certain company is completely unable to deliver hardware on time Tongue Only they can see this and thus they must post this same information a hundred times in each thread ... and make themselves look like some sort of psychotic stalker ... and then start posting falsehoods since they themselves have realised there's no point posting the same thing over and over again ... so why not make something up ...

Bottom line, I see no real problem with posting negative stuff about companies, however, there are a small number of accounts on bitcointalk that if they were deleted, that would get rid of most of the "OMG I gotta post it again today coz no body knows what I know and I must educate all these fools who read this forum ... who didn't read it yesterday" crap these threads are full of.

wow I couldn't agree more with this one
This is proven by the fact that there are noobs (plenty of them) who don't know any better and pop into the forum wondering "what is going on here?!"

In effect, disproving Kano's vision of reality. (Go to BFL forums for a perfect example; they tend to import alot of BitCoinTalk talking points over there...slow but steady.)
2195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: August 27, 2013, 12:24:46 PM
It sounds like they are finally coming around to reality. While the drop is still not bringing the miner into a truly profitable "buy" scenario, let alone to actually mine with, it is a first step in the right direction.

They also seem to (I assume) be listening to advice that they need to 'pave a path' for their future products beyond the immediate December delivery window. It sounds to me like they might be starting designs on scaling their chips.

Either way, if they continue to listen and adapt to reality, they are so far among the best poised due to prudence. Lets hope.

2197  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: @INABA / BFL_JOSH - When is my order going to ship? on: August 27, 2013, 12:07:15 AM
Hi Josh -

I ordered a 5GH/s Miner on the 6th of May.

When I ordered I was assured it would be delivered by July.

On August the 8th I asked for a refund and on August the 15th I was told this would not be possible.

So can you please tell me, simply, when my order will finally ship and what possible reason there could be for orders taking so long?

I am tired of reading through pages and pages of abuse and conspiracy theories - can you simply answer my question?

Thank you.
I assure you, Josh is running right now to his office on foot. As soon as he heard one of his precious customers was feeling down, he started running for the office to resolve your issue.

He probably didn't even apparently think opening his car was worth the wait. This guy needs a medal. (Gold too, not that cheap stuff)

Who wants me to post BCP19's isp address and information?

He has taken it upon himself to post libelous accusations about me on BFL forums. I am silenced on the forum so I cannot defend myself and since BCP19 took it upon himself to be malicious, I took it upon myself to acquire said information since the thread that I am a pedophile is still on the forum.  Grin

Go right ahead

This might be some childish way for you to pass time but making accusations of this nature does not pass muster with me.

Calling your bluff.  I have you on blackmail and you dislike how I described your actions.  YOU called me a child and then invited me to your house.  Suspicions actions, then you stalk me and get my information.  You are obviously a danger to me and society, and I will report this as soon as you take your 'action'.

I have to wonder about how much time BFL_Josh/Inaba is spending in this thread. Is he trying to bury something? Is he afraid of being sued?
I also notice BFL_Josh/Inaba is still dodging this statement he made. I am sure his lawyers told him never to speak of it again.

When is the Jalapeno getting FCC approval?

Maybe two weeks? We are waiting for the test lab to issue the test report.

With the bump in power requirements on the MR and the new screen, we had to make changes, although the new screen is already certified.  We are doing all the devices at once, since they all share the same board.

Of course, that "Jalapeno" could not have existed (nor the other devices) because as we found out later the chips had not reached BFL from the fab until Feb 2013. When they did, there were major issues with heat and power and their first board design did not work. The issues were so serious in fact that they could not use the original Jalapeno form factor. They had to put them in the singles cases.

That is the material misstatement that BFL made about the status of their product. Anyone who wants to demonstrate civil fraud charges can add that statement to their evidence list.

And the thread is back on track.
Their lawyer probably told them they had their ass or their head on backwards.

They probably disagreed on that.
