221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Erik Voorhees favors NXT on: May 04, 2015, 07:32:42 AM
is erik voorhees that much of a market mover?

Who knows. But he is one of the few (only?) early BTC guys that will openly say positive things about alts
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt holding tightly. on: May 03, 2015, 10:33:25 PM
Anyway, I would really like to see a minimalistic Nxt command line client with only the core features Wink

I vaguely recall this being discussed. I think there wil be a 'simple' and 'advanced' view in v1.5.0. I'll try and find something more concrete. Not quite command line but you could make ur own wallet with Jay if you wanted  Grin
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt holding tightly. on: May 03, 2015, 02:31:24 PM
I think a important factor is that Nxt is actually being used, above all as a platform for assets.

On the other hand, the "weakness" of Nxt is its relative small acceptance by merchants in electronic commerce. But this should improve once the client is more "stable" (regarding that there should be less mandatory upgrades per year).

Services like shapeshift.io API allow businesses to take any crypto, if they accept BTC. Though I don't think merchant commerce will be the first growth spurt for crypto.

The updates will continue I'm afraid. Nxt is pumping out new tech at a rate that most people can't keep up. These are the planned features:

I haven't counted but I don't think we are even a third of the way through the planned features yet. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=831202.0 for development updates
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: NXT freemarket - new decentralized physical goods market Released! on: May 03, 2015, 02:00:23 PM
UI update!

User toenu has joined the FreeMarketLite team and has begun overhauling the UI of freemarketlite.com

Changes that have gone live:
  • Pagination
  • Searchable listings
  • Category filtering

Matthew

N.B. Freemarket and FreeMarketLite are software that are being developed independently.

The old webiste is no longer up as it has been replaced by: https://www.freemarketlite.cc/

Browse around and see what is for sale in Nxt's Freemarket (decentralized ebay) right now, all the data is live from the blockchain.

225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A suggestion to the alt + bittorrent devs: PopcornTime. on: May 03, 2015, 01:55:22 PM
Nxt hasprunable message in testnet and has a torrent plugin also in construction near completion . I think an app like popcorn time could be make as a plugin. Check out the upcoming torrent plugin:

Also here: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/nxttorrents-my-efforts-updates-and-need-help/

There are two torrent projects in Nxt atm, being built outside the core by third party devs.

229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to know .. on: May 02, 2015, 08:22:11 AM
how to know if a coin has been premined?

The quick and dirty way is to look for the asterisks: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/all/

I've been wondering what those asterisks were for...and now I wanna know what a double asterisk signifies!

Thanks Wink

any training course for making own altcoin and wallet

What are your aims?
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The risk of NXT on: April 29, 2015, 04:47:19 PM
Let's go back to BEFORE the big Bitcoin spike to $1,200 last May-June:

Sorry, but I am a stickler for detail  Grin

Last May-Jun 2014 wasn't the $1200 spike (you gotta click 'all' on CMC to see it was Nov 2013).

232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Neucoin presale selling like pancakes. Should I buy some or not? on: April 29, 2015, 12:24:02 PM
The planned total supply being inflated to 100 billion over 10 years is too scary for me
(Edit: Is it fair to say the presale is for 3.33% of 3% of the total supply > 0.00099% being sold at presale?)

Too expensive for me at today's prices too. If released today, I think it would be accepted similar to NEM (basic network with novel POS algo changes) so $0.01 seems very expensive, even allowing for a premium for the advisors they list.

Following Kushti's analysis is interesting, he hasn't got to the bottom of his concerns yet.

tl:dr don't rush in
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Internet of things? on: April 29, 2015, 11:36:28 AM
You could look into Jinn. It is a hardware ternary (1, 0, -1) processor designed for distributed computing/internet if things, developed by Come-from-Beyond.

There is a software emulator (Jiniri) that had a proof of concept being used in Skyrim. I am told it meant many players could interact on the same screen without it becoming a slide show.

The website will be back up soon, it was removed to not give any details away. Devs will soon be invited in to begin tinkering (~2 weeks), the ternary programming language is very similar to Abracadabra.

See here: https://nxtforum.org/news-and-announcements/(ann)-jinn/

N.B. It is from a dev closely associated with Nxt, on Nxtforum, with assets on the Nxt Asset Exchange but the project isn't for Nxt, it is for IoT/distributed computing for the benefit of everyone in crypto and outside of it.

234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Neucoin presale selling like pancakes. Should I buy some or not? on: April 29, 2015, 11:17:20 AM
Are you willing to stake 24/7 for the next 10 years?

If not, you could lose much of the value of your investment through the eroding effects of inflation (assuming you planned to hold it).

You could have them mine for you at MyNeuCoin.com. But there is risk of centralizing all the staking power (it is free and easier for them to do it so people are more likely not to run their own software).

Nxt has no inflation so there is no economic cost to you of not forging, you don't feel obliged to lease your forging to a pool just to maintain the value you have. Inflation differences between Nxt and Neu (none and a lot) make unqualified comparisons problematic.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Talents wanted! [looking for co-developers for a new altcoin] on: April 29, 2015, 10:20:07 AM
You could tap into Nxt Monetary System to create a coin within Nxt.

If your project is good, you have a ready made community to help promote, advise and develop it.

FYI, the testnet version of NRS is now at v1-5-6e. Don't upgrade yet unless you are an advanced user wanting to test Nxt.

Everyone else should be on 1.4.17.

238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ■■ SERIOUSLY... WTF is wrong with NXT.. it's in the ESMA notes. on: April 29, 2015, 08:28:53 AM
where's the best place to buy a lot?

Pm TwinWinnerD. He has facilitated this in the past. Or use his service (or coinomat) to go from fiat to Nxt directly.

Or with BTC @ Poloniex over time (you said best, not good  Wink )
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Nxt] Implements Blockchain Pruning on testnet on: April 27, 2015, 12:02:32 PM
No transaction pruning based on Merkele trees?

I think the long term plan might be described as "rolling re-genesis".

The states of all objects in Nxt are recorded at a given block and the clients then use this as the 'new genesis'. This is done every x blocks automatically. There are very few concrete details about that element so far so don't quote me  Grin Ask Chuckone on Nxtforum.

Most likely, as with message pruning above, there will be services set up to store everything (not just the hashes) and charge others to retrieve the pruned data if required. Everyone else will have the hashes of the data so they can confirm that the date provided matches the hash of the tx they have in their blockchain.
