221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: August 01, 2012, 02:25:42 AM
Hi Zhou,

I think there was one question that you didn't answer from one of my earlier emails. You said you could recover 20k BTC and to date have recovered 15k BTC. Are you still able to recover the other 5k BTC?

Yes. I'm recovering the first 15k BTC to show "good faith" and "co-operation". The remaining will be recovered after all the fiat has been recovered. The fiat money is the most legally sensitive part of this deal, and it should have taken place before Bitcoin.

Hey asshole - send the remaining 25k BTC NOW.  We all know the fiat money is locked up until you identify yourself, and it's clear you are not going to do that.

STOP PLAYING YOUR CHILDISH GAMES.

I'm also trying to figure out if this mounts to extortion. So far, many of the statements from Zhou have been of extortion nature. Promising to have the funds released if no legal action is taken is a prime example. Its time to just send the funds Zhou. Too many people have suffered too long because of this fiasco.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: August 01, 2012, 02:20:23 AM

By the way, a freezing order by court in Dominica is only effective for 7 days unless a money laundering crime is charged within 7 days. Also divulging any information about an ongoing AML investigation is a criminal offence, punishable with up to $250,000 in fines and 10 years of inprisonment. (The inprisonment for money laundering itself is up to 7 years.)

Reference: Dominican Money Laundering Prevention Act (2000)

This means that AurumXchange must have received an order by a more superior party than court to have frozen the funds for more than 7 days, and/or an AML investigation has not formally taken place.

If you have nothing to fear and tell the truth, why are you fighting so strongly against providing this little AML compliance info?
Do your best and send it to them! -> Problem solved!

It's not a little. It's the entire trace of financial transactions and confidential identifications of all known involved parties, all certified!

And they have to be sent to a "company" without registration number, telephone or address. And according to AurumXchange, this is the first time they blocked funds!

I have provided Mt. Gox with my identification documents, but I'm not willing to do the same for AurumXchange due to their shady business activities. I'm more willing to file a lawsuit against Roberto personally (because there's no company registration details).

I think asking for registration is something you should have done BEFORE you deposited funds there. Your refusal to provide AML documents to them means they have no choice to seize the funds and you are acting in bad faith at this point.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: August 01, 2012, 02:17:43 AM
Public clarification #2

Chen Jianhai has attempted to cash out $5,000 of LR exchanged from stolen Bitcoins owned by Bitcoinica. However the funds have been blocked by AurumXchange.

There is solid evidence that the $5,000 was Bitcoinica's stolen properties, because the email and LR account matched the hacker's identity. The bank account was purchased from the black market though.

AurumXchange is possessing $5,000 of Bitcoinica's stolen funds at the moment. Also the total income from other Chen Jianhai's money laundering transactions is estimated to be about $2,200, calculated from the data provided by AurumXchange.

You seem to know an aweful lot about everything in a conveniently short period of time. Why does it matter what order the funds are sent in? They need to be returned without delay, regardless of consequence.

225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: July 30, 2012, 04:31:47 PM
I trust you guys, but are acting extremely unprofessional.  I will personally never use your service in fear of you publicly going after users in this format.  From an outsiders perspective you really look terrible.  I'm serious.  ZT looks bad, but so do you.

You have stated ZT is the prime suspect?  In what?  Is there even a fucking police report?  He is the prime suspect according to you, AFAIK.

Basically, you are just holding his money because you want to.  You have stated he has broken your TOS.  I am sure you have violated your own TOS when you have posted personal information about your users all over the web.

This is turning into a big fucking joke.

Get the fucking money to the lawyers so us bitcoinica users can get our money back.  That's it.

Say what you will but if Roberto and Mark hadn't done this, we would be no further towards recovering funds. So far Zhou has managed to transfer 15k BTC out of 20k BTC and 140k USD promised.

If anything you should be thanking AurumXchange and MTGox for getting to the bottom of this.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: July 30, 2012, 05:03:20 AM
This is the 20k BTC I was talking about, I guess it was total. Zhou, you had 15k BTC transferred to the lawyer, what about the other 5k BTC? Surely the 5k BTC you were providing that you said wasn't connected to the theft wasn't the other 5k BTC your were talking about. If it is, this doesn't bode well for your case.

I have sent 15,000 BTC to an address provided by Patrick Murck.

He or one of his clients will later confirm the receipt of the funds and also the escrow/representation relationship.

Thanks Zhou. It is a far cry from the 40K BTC / 40K USD stolen, but it is a start. Can you please share the transaction id?

Currently I can recover at most 20,000 BTC and $140,000 from Chen Jianhai.

If AurumXchange can reimburse the laundering fees for the Mt. Gox code (about $2,320.31) then it will be even better.

AFAIK he used Blockchain's mixing service, but we don't expect the fees to be returned because it's impossible to identify the funds anyway. (Also Blockchain has offered a 0.5% bonus for those people who facilitated the laundering.)

The average price he sold at should be around $7.2, including the exchanging fees. At this price point we are short $42,000. I'll see if it's possible to get this from Chen Jianhai, but quite unlikely. I doubt the effectiveness of Chinese police as well, because he's very likely to have "Guanxi" to deal with his financial activities (which I can't decide whether legal or not). In any case, he has been acting in a very naive way and I assume he still has freedom today because of his guanxi, not technical sophistication.

I'm not sure about Bitcoinica's real solvency before the hack at the moment. The information is insufficient for me to give a definitive answer.

My 5,000 BTC is entirely separate from the hack, but it more or less covers a large part of the shortfall.

I'm trying to squeeze funds to see if I can compensate more personally, but I'm not in a very good financial condition. If NameTerrific is profitable in the future, I will be happy to contribute more personal funds to help Bitcoinica customers.

#1 - are you talking about the hacker and his wife's info or Chris Heaslip. I find it weird his credentials were in the lastpass account affiliated with Bitcoinica when he has no known affiliation. Perhaps you can shed some light on that.

#2 - you are pissed at Aurumxchange for holding your funds... we will get back to that later.

There seems to be a lot of confusion around when the code was leaked and where. Perhaps you can shed some light on the details of the leak, which are muddy to most of the people trying to get to the bottom of this. Documentation of when the leak occurred (other than the first thread post here) is what we are looking for.

That email was protected with my weakest password that I reused everywhere and even shared with some other people. I didn't have to protect that email at all because it's meant to be semi-sockpuppet anyway.

He had access to source code after genjix released it.

Chris Heaslip's Mt. Gox account was stored alongside Wendon's in the LastPass. Obviously he didn't know which one had more money so he logged in to both.

I know a lot of his personal information (especially his and his wife's bank accounts and address), and I threatened to report to police if he didn't agree to refund.

I don't know where you got all the misleading information from.

What you mean misleading, it's from YOUR post here! Mine interpretation, but the facts are yours.

The source code was leaked after the hack as far we know. No one in this forum knew about the source code prior to genjix posting it and then deleting it.
Now this hacker dude gets off easily because he sends money back? Why don't you file a police report now?

The hacker didn't steal from me. Why should I file a police report?

I'm obviously more pissed off because of AurumXchange, and people like you, rather than the hacker or Bitcoinica.

The source code is the direct cause for the hack, because the LastPass master password was not redacted.

The hack happened on July 12, and the source code was released a few days before that.

Back to the AurumXchange comment as #2 above. Here you are authorizing AurumXchange to release funds to BitInstant's lawyer. It seems to me like you are admitting that the funds at AurumXchange were directly related to the hack. You originally claimed they were for a "friend" but it now appears the funds are directly linked to the latest theft. Please comment on this as it does not look well and you have basically admitted that the funds were related to the theft.

After Patrick Murck or his clients confirm the receipt of the funds, I will be working on getting the fiat part from Chen Jianhai.

It appears that he stored the vast majority of the money in his offshore bank account in Isle of Man (not Jersey, I correct myself here). It should be with Barclays International. He converted some Liberty Reserve dollars to Chinese Yuan and I can get it through Alipay, and I'll simply pay that part off with my own USD savings. (I can deal with the currency controls later. My family has 5 people, and each person can access up to US$50,000 worth of foreign exchange transactions every year.)

Also he is holding some euros due to the exchange he was using didn't have enough reserves for USD. Anyway I have access to "interbank rates" so it shouldn't be a problem as well. Considering the rising EUR/USD the USD value can be a little bit more.

I assure that I won't keep a single cent from any funds transferred to me. Also I authorize AurumXchange to send the funds directly to Patrick Murck (after he provides the bank account details) so that there will be less hassle in handling large amounts of fiat money.

Perhaps I am interpreting this all wrong. Please Zhou if you are innocent, explain the above discrepancies.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: July 30, 2012, 03:29:46 AM
Sorry, my interest in this whole bitcoinica shitstorm waned a few weeks ago.  Will somebody tl;dr what's been going on lately for me?  Or even more to the point, just answer whether the likelihood of me getting my bitcoins back has gone up or down given the events of the past week.

The likelihood hasn't changed one iota. Just a bunch of fanciful stories from zhou tong.

15k BTC was transferred to a lawyer pending Bitcoinica's instructions on what to do with the funds. There was supposed to be a subsequent payment of 20k BTC (I think), which hasn't happened yet. The last thing I remember Zhou saying was he was going after the fiat now. Of course I could be wrong since it is a very long read but that's what I have taken away from it.

Disclaimer: I had none of my personal funds at Bitcoinica and therefore have no horse in this race.

pirate or not. someone just dumped 40k+ btc

That's the same amount that was sold yesterday in a matter of seconds to try and suppress the price. I would say it is arguably the same person.

Its probably mine...  Im from Hamilton.. Tongue

Jesus, I just want my copy...

What the hell is taking so long..

Pre-orders have yet to make it to Ontario which you can thank USPS, Canadian Customs and Canada Post for. I also have a pre-order to Ontario and it hasn't arrived so you are not alone. Because of these long shipping times, we have begun to explore alternative shipping options for future issues.

The same can be said for some countries such as Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. If you are from one of these countries and have received your pre-order, please post a status update in this thread.

So I orders a subscription on the day the first issue arrived above, and the second copy just arrived this morning.

The weird thing is tho, the first copy I got came in a clear plastic sleeve with a printed paper insert including my name/address and the NY Bitcoin Magazine address.
This second copy however came in a manilla envelope and the addresses were hand written, from the Ontario Bitcoin Magazine address.

Weird o.O

Actually this is not strange at all because you received your second copy from our Canadian re-shipper. Because of long delivery times, we have begun to explore alternative shipping options and it's good to see they are working well.
231  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: June 15, 2012, 01:46:56 AM
Mine arrived today (June 14). So they are still coming.

Great news! I hope you enjoy the read as much as we think you will.

If you post your locations it will give us an idea of where the magazines have made it to.
232  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3251 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: June 14, 2012, 09:52:26 PM
Its not the first time it has happened but my daily payout still isn't confirmed 9 hours after broadcasting. Are you not including your own transactions in found blocks? I would imagine being a miner here should mean my payments are included in the blocks I am helping to mine.

239  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: May 30, 2012, 04:08:34 AM
What did I say again? Oh yeah, most people will get their magazine on Tuesday.

Looks like my prediction was right Smiley

you were either wrong, they just sold an utterly sad number of magazines, or there is not enough posting to make any kind of assertion.

Apology accepted.

edit: also preorders getting them about 3 weeks after they supposedly shipped, digital issue coming in about a month, so anyone orders now might get theirs a week before digital. I still say waiting to release digital was bat shit insane.

I'm sorry to hear you were only shipped 1 copy but I'm sure it will be cleared up properly. With all your trolling and ranting leading up to the release and now your ranting afterwards you have yet ONCE to comment on the ACTUAL content of the MAGAZINE. I would really like to hear your opinion after being such an outspoken critic this whole time.
