I've just done a quick google search for Natasha Otomoski and found 1 result, but I don't understand the language and the facebook page doesn't load for me, probably because I don't use facebook account, so I can't reach the content?

222  Other / Meta / Re: Is bitcointalk copper membership fee increase? on: January 29, 2019, 10:00:15 PM
Or, OP can still choose the hard way and can start to create a few meaningful posts, in this case in a few weeks time he can become a Jr. member with signature, bounty, etc... And with nearly a dozen of merited post the Member rank is also accessible, so if it's not too urgent to become a Member, he/she can save the whole amount (in bitcoin or even in grin), and have the same privileges...
223  Other / Meta / Re: [HACK] One-click mod report, not for the faint of heart on: January 29, 2019, 07:58:28 PM
Nice code, thanks Smiley
Is it possible to ask theymos to just implement it into the code?
And only activate it for those who e.g. has at least 1,000 good reports?
It would be awesome Smiley
224  Other / Meta / Re: Happy birthday, the merit system! on: January 24, 2019, 10:35:31 PM

Let’s put this way: I recently ranked up to full member. I registered little less than a year ago ,but I have been active since June.
...
Congrats, you are the exception, to show that ranking up is possible (but still hard enough for the rest, I guess Smiley )
Anyway, nice job, and keep up the good posting Smiley
225  Other / Meta / Re: Happy birthday, the merit system! on: January 24, 2019, 09:12:22 PM
Legendaries are a bit different, based on the luck, it varies from 97% to 129%
Based on my observations (and that can be wrong of course), (for the normal average users) 50% required merit/activity ratio would be still hard enough to achieve, so this would still slow down the ranking up process significantly, compared to the 'no merit' times.

And that is what it should be like, a Legendary rank really meaning something!!
...
Fine for me, Legendary could remain 1000 merits, that's really a kind of thing that's hard to achieve, no problem with that. (even if we just withdraw the airdropped merits)
If you want to show off how long you have been on the forum, there is activity, if how much trust people have in you there is the trust system, merit shows how much people care about your ideas...
The rank...is kind of useless.
In this case, is this rank thing necessary at all?

Just wondering, I'm fine with the current situation as well, because based on my last 1 year progress (100 merit earned per year Cheesy ), I have 4 years unless I become legendary, but it's not a problem for me, I can manage the situation. This is the highest rank, this should be really hard to achieve, unless it will lose it's special feeling...

But the Full member rank is just the 3rd rank, not the last one, and if people will struggle to reach even the 3rd rank, that would make them disappointed (just my opinion, and I'm talking about the 'normal' users, not the spammers or the farmed accounts). If I understand DdmrDdmr's chart right, there were 82 members, who managed to become Full member (from Member) since the introduction of the merit system, this is less than 10 members per month, for the entire forum. Taking into consideration that we have thousands of active accounts, it's not really much (even if only minor part of the active accounts post meaningful things...)

To become a Full member from Member, there's a 90 merit gap to fill, which means you have to get nearly 1 merit per post (120 activity compared to 100 merit), which is really hard. If you only post the necessary 14 posts per activity period (to avoid spamming the whole forum, fishing for merit everywhere and make the forum unreadable), it's a really really hard task. People would give up sooner than we expect

Or, if we want to give prestige to ranks, Senior member could be the first of the perstigious ranks, and we should not touch the merit requirements of Senior and above, and only lessen the merit requirement of the 3rd rank a bit, to help people rank up at least to Full member, to feel that they are already fully accepted members of the community Smiley

I know that rank doesn't matter for a lot of people, but for a lot of other people it does (and not only because of the signature campaigns, it's only for the signature spammers), and it won't ruin the success of the current merit system if we could adjust the requirement a bit of the 3rd rank...

But it's just an idea (and a wall of text I know Cheesy) and I don't want to harm anyone with it, just wanted to help those members who really deserves it (and I know that they're the minority nowdays...)
226  Other / Meta / Re: Happy birthday, the merit system! on: January 24, 2019, 07:13:59 PM
January 24th 2018 - the day when thousands of lifes were ruined Cheesy
Maybe it's time to remove all airdropped Merits? There are thousands of Full, Senior or Hero members who haven't managed to earn even 1 Merit. But they still can use all privilleges of their rank and continue spamming without thinking about quality of their posts
...
I'm fine with removing airdropped merits, but in that case we should recalculate the merit limits for ranking up.
It can happen based on the observation of the amount of the merits gathered in 1 year time.
Rank   Required activity   Required merit
Brand new   0   0
Newbie   1   0
Jr Member   30   1
Member   60   10
Full Member   120   100
Sr. Member   240   250
Hero Member   480   500
Legendary   Random in the range 775-1030   1000

For the newbies, juniors and members, you can see that the merits needed for the rank up are low, compared to the activity. (required merit/activity ratio is way below 100%)
From Full member rank, you have to get nearly as many merits  as the required activity. (required merit/activity ratio is 83.3%)
For Sr. members, Heroes more merit is required than activity. (required merit/activity ratio is 104.16%)
Legendaries are a bit different, based on the luck, it varies from 97% to 129%

Based on my observations (and that can be wrong of course), (for the normal average users) 50% required merit/activity ratio would be still hard enough to achieve, so this would still slow down the ranking up process significantly, compared to the 'no merit' times.
This would motivate the normal users a bit more to post quality and wouls still stop spammers.

Anyway, happy birthday Merit Smiley

Forum Profile Information alatti Bitcoin address-re gondolsz, ugye? Azt kellene beállítani?
Igen.

228  Other / Meta / Re: Signature advertisers: suggestions? on: January 21, 2019, 11:21:06 PM
...
My idea would be something around 1 merit for 2-4 activity periods, or we could make this to rank dependent or we could make it both posts and merit related (no idea of a formula yet and brain not helping kronk now)
But seriously, if you have 2000 posts and 1 merit in one year....there is something fishy happening.
...
I like this one. I'm thinking about something similar.
Let's say, you have to "pay" 1 merit/month to be able to wear a paid signature (and you can only use your earned merits for it).
This way, there's no need to change the merit requirements for ranking up, because newbies can still become juniors if they manage to get 1 merit, juniors can rank up if they get more, etc...
So they will have a chance to become even a legendary sometime in the future.
But if they choose to use their earned merits to be able to take part in a signature campaign (in order to monetize their time spent here instead of ranking up), that's their own decision.
This way, you can stop spammers, because they will quickly fall back to newbie rank, if they take part in a signature campaing, but they don't post useful stuff.
If the members are taking part in a signature campaing and they post quality stuff, they will manage to rank up parallel with monetizing their skills and time (ideal situation).
1 merit per month is really not much for a good poster, but will stop spammers on the short run (I mean they would just have to stop spamming for money if they run out of merit. If they want, they can spam for free, but they won't... or they have to start posting quality stuff, if they want to wear signature again).

Individual signatures have to remain free in the future, and we should not restrict them to e.g. black and white or small font, etc... If someone wants to advertise himself with a kind of colorful signature like the paid campaigns have, why not...

The question is, how to decide if a signature is paid or free?
If theymos implements a kind of central signature database from where the campaign members can choose their paid signature, this would solve the problem for the decent campaigns.
But how to restrict shady ICOs, if they start to manage their campaigns off site and members say that their signatures are not paid? I know that it's possible to prove that they are paid in the end, but it requires effort and time from forum stuff or members.

Or we decide that having a signature is a kind of premium stuff here and that's not available for everyone (like the avatar). It's still better that you know that if you have the necessary merits, you can set up a signature (this is a kind of motivatoin to post quality stuff), compared to the situation when theymos just ban all the signatures...

229  Other / Meta / Re: Stop staking your bitcoin address. That is not enough to recover your account. on: January 20, 2019, 07:15:36 PM
Mate, it takes five seconds to sign and it doesn't hurt you. Plus, it can be used for other purposes such as larger trade deals.

I get that you're probably discontent for your account - and I'm sorry - but this isn't the way to go.
We should lock this thread before people starts to act based on the title...
Or, OP should change the title of the topic to something similar:
"Staking your bitcoin address sometimes not enough to recover your account, but can help"
230  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: Magyar (Hungarian) on: January 20, 2019, 03:11:08 PM
Zártam a topicot, egyből átírtam a szöveget ahogy megláttam mi történt. Még aznap jelentettem is a moderátoroknak, azóta semmi se történt, jelentettem újra, hátha törlik. Köszi a tippet a zárásra!
Vagy posztolod a bitcoin címed ebben a topic-ban:
Stake your Bitcoin address here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5099875.0
Smiley
231  Other / Meta / Re: Minor selfmod enhancement on: January 19, 2019, 09:28:55 PM

spoting those users abusing the self-moderation privilege on topic and defaulters should be banned from having the privilege of self moderating their topics.
How does one abuse his "self-moderation privilege"?
Some people use self moderated threads to delete warnings about shady behavior, criticism of the OP (or someone closely related), or questions that make the OP look bad.

Or they produce self modded [ANN] threads (for scams) that go on for over two hundred pages full of shitposts made by bumping service accounts, deleting all unfavorable posts along the way. Like so.
I know that the forum doesn't moderate scam only DTs can give red trust to the OPs and shills of this kind of threads, but really that's all we can do with scam ICOs?
I hope that none of them will manage to get into DT somehow, because then all the fake red trust they poured onto the forum members will become real red tags and not just untrusted feedbacks...

This guy is new and came here through search which is appreciated. He is not the thread creator.
...
Or a necro poster, and this is how he/she can gain activity, with meaningful posts on old threads.
But it's also possible that he/she will become a decent poster in the future, now you just can't tell that from 3 posts.
Anyway, time will tell Smiley
233  Other / Meta / Re: [Explained] How Trust Score is calculated on: January 19, 2019, 04:21:11 PM
A bump for newbies who still don't understand.
Nice explanation, it was really helpful, thank.
I'm afraid, newbies won't care about this trust thing, they have to start to care about the rules first...
234  Other / Meta / Re: [ LIST] Banned users on: January 19, 2019, 09:25:50 AM
I couldn't find user Pompa in the lists, although I think that he is banned due to the date of his last comment and the absence of signature.

I wonder, are there many such cases?
According to BPIP, he/she is not banned just have a few deleted posts.

Code:
Security/Moderator Log

2 replies deleted by moderators

Or, the user ID in BPIP just haven't been updated
235  Other / Meta / Re: Minor selfmod enhancement on: January 19, 2019, 09:13:46 AM
...
When I read the title, I was hoping this would give the thread owner more control over who gets to post there. Excluding users who are on ignore by the OP would be a good measure against spam.
Posts of the users who are on ignore won't show up, only an empty post with grey color, so it's just a few clicks to mark them and delete them with a press of the button, you don't have to read them.
I know it will raise the deleted post count in the statistics, but that's not a real problem. If you don't let ignored users post in a selfmod topic it can also be interpreted like their posts were deleted right after they have submitted it, so no much difference...

237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Malware Found on a Movie Downloaded via Torrent Steals your Crypto on: January 18, 2019, 10:04:15 PM
I'm using torrents not just to download movies but software as well and this is helpful for me since I'm not aware that there's that kind of virus the only virus I know that is connected to cryptocurrency is the ransomware wherein you're going to pay crypto in order to unlock your files, thanks for this valuable information.

May I ask for some suggestions for everyone? What are the things we should do in order to avoid this? or what kind of antivirus do you think is helpful to avoid this.
You can't avoid it 100%
Possible solution:
Create 2 folders (disks, PCs, etc...) one for the sensitive and important data (family photos, etc...), and the other for the rest (films, music, downloadable stuff). Backup the sensitive data folder regurarly onto an external HDD (once a week, month, depends on) and when a ransomware hijack your PC, you'll just erase the complete system, install a brand new and you can copy your sensitive data back from the backup, problem solved. You should not forget to use a proper antivirus of course, but antivirus is a prevention and this is a solution.
If you are paranoid enough, you can keep the backup HDD offsite, in a safebox, create copies and store it in differen places etc...  you can decide how valuable the information you want to protect and what is the maximum effort you want to take to protect it.
238  Other / Meta / Re: Report to moderators cooldown on: January 18, 2019, 09:41:50 PM
...
It must be said it's not always possible to judge fairly about the value of comments just by how they look in the post history.
For example, the one-word-messages ("Yes" / "No") might be seen as having a low value.
However these comments could be important in the context of discussion.
I saw somewhere in the technical discussion part of the forum that a developer or someone techie person has just used one word replies to show that he/she has read the post. It was really important in that context that the post has been read by the appropirate person, so yeah, one word sometimes can have much greater effect than a wall of text...

Bitart,  te hogy szedtél össze ennyi meritet? Cheesy
