2241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC tanks while DGC rises on: May 28, 2013, 04:08:51 AM
I have no idea why WDC is trading low. The coin is fine, great community on their forums, I would almost say a bit of bad luck.

The WDC trade on Cryptsy is very low compared to DGC, and not much better on Bter. WDC has a much higher volume in circulation due to it's faster block rate and larger coins per block

WDC 80055 blocks x 32coins = 2.56mill

DGC 41066 block x 20coins = 0.821mill

So it might be just oversupply, but most of the other alts have way more than 2.56mill coins too. If I were the WDC devs I would have made it only 5 coins per block at the most 10.

2242  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official TerraHash topic (possible scam) on: May 28, 2013, 03:58:42 AM
It's early days with these Avalon chip based products, as Avalon have chosen to take several months before the chips are out there in the hands of board makers. So I wouldn't panic just yet, also the Klondike design on which the Terrahash is based hasn't even been finalized and tested!

Are Mac an Linux users going to get client binaries they can download from the website, or are you forcing them to learn how to compile?
2244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coins do you like atm? :) on: May 27, 2013, 09:43:47 PM
DGC seems to be holding it's price and profitability to mine quite well out of all the recent alts.

I like WDC  speed but it is not selling all that well for some reason.

Network hashrate jumped 2+ GH/s difficulty went up 7.xxx... Network hashrate went down to ~200 MH/s, you see where I'm going with this.
I know that I don't, not familiar enough with these things.. just saying what I saw/read from others. umm the forum

And when is the next difficulty re-target scheduled for?

What's the eta on the sample Avalon chips, to see if this whole thing works as intended?

OK, so, I found a 3 hour gap, between block 115 and 116, so, I can only assume, that that is the gap between when the pre mine ended, and it opened to the public. So, 115, 10,000 coin blocks, were premined.
115 x 10,000 = 1,150,000 coins, were premined. That seem about right?

I got the 12th blocks so no, he started mining as soon as he posted the thread

The 3hr gap is most certainly there I just checked it.

Block 115  Time: 1368581918 (2013-05-15 01:38:38)
Block 116  Time: 1368591249 (2013-05-15 04:14:09)

Curious to know how you get 3 hours between blocks when there are lots of keen miners from the forum announcement?

2257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLDCoin - A Heavily premined coin, does it make sense to mine it??? on: May 26, 2013, 11:31:48 PM
I took a quick look at this coin, this is what I found:

- dev premined heavily on this. He first premined 2,000,000 coins (first 200 blocks), called it "bounty"
- then insiders heavily mined all the 1000-coin blocks. Said they "should be a day", was finished in just 2-3 hours. This is about another 2,000,000 coins.
- after that (about 2pm 5/15), some limited people may start mining, the 1st 2500 blocks (corresponding to 4 millions coins) are already grabbed by the insiders.
- it was not until 6pm that day, a formal announcement was made about this coin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=206377.0 - there was a pre-announcement thread before, which later becomes the main thread), by that time, 8000+ blocks are gone. This corresponds to an unbelievable 7,000,000 coins.

Guys, does it make any sense to mine a coin like this?? It is complete garbage.

You can check the time stamps in the blockchain broswer yourself!

It's interesting to note that the GLD announcement thread  topic 206377 you linked to is no longer available on this forum, which I consider highly suspicious.

But as topic 206376 is  May 16, 2013, 04:37:31 AM  and topic topic 206378 is May 16, 2013, 04:38:41 AM you can assume topic 206377 is some time between those. Please note my forum time is set to GMT+10  so you will have to calculate your own local time to make sense of it.

Also the GLD block chain explorer has been taken offline  http://gld.block-chain.net

If someone could point me to the source code for a block chain explorer I would like to dig a bit deeper into this pre-mine story.

NVM found an online exporer that works: http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com

We can see from that the following timestamps:
Code:

block 0     1368560876 (2013-05-14 19:47:56) first of the 10,000 coin blocks
block 1     1368578936 (2013-05-15 00:48:56)
block 200  1368596205 (2013-05-15 05:36:45) last of the 10,000 coin blocks
block 201  1368596265 (2013-05-15 05:37:45) first of the 1,000 coin blocks
block 2200 1368615283 (2013-05-15 10:54:43) last of the 1,000 coin blocks
block 2201 1368615305 (2013-05-15 10:55:05) first of the 500 coin blocks

You should be able to piece together the story from that info. The topic 206377 thread time approx May 16, 2013, 04:37:31 AM +10 GMT is May 15, 2013, 06:37:31 PM GMT some 18 hours after block 1 was mined, and 23 hours after block 0 was mined.

2258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: crypto-trade.com opens today? on: May 26, 2013, 10:42:00 PM
Need some moar coins on there Tongue Like DGC, BTE, PWC, GLD, WDC, As many as possible! With a name like 'crypto-trade' you should just support as many CryptoCurrencies as you can.

Maybe WDC or DGC, the others have no niche, they are pointless spec coins.
2259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FOR SALE] gldcoin.com - 500,000 GLD and its yours! on: May 26, 2013, 10:37:13 PM
That domain name is worthless to virtually anyone but the GLD coin devs. Yet another dumping attempt.
2260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLD plummets... on: May 26, 2013, 09:42:36 PM
This is probably why. The dev is done with this.
