2261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Support Ukraine via NFTs on: February 28, 2022, 07:05:23 PM
In spite of the Russian invasion of Ukraine beginning on the 24th, this guy somehow knew that Ukraine would need humanitarian aid even two days before. How is that possible? He had to have some inside knowledge of unfolding events.

Putin, is that you?!

TLDR;

Somehow I find it hard to believe that you knew about bitcoin (even owned it) back in 2013 and you only discovered this forum a few days ago.
I am not saying it is not possible, just that I find it hard to believe.

Its not impossible, I knew Bitcoin through a Ponzi scheme called MMM we were ask to buy bitcoin and deposit it on the platform and it took me 4 years to know that this forum existed.

Oh, I see. Well, it is good you found us.

For me, this forum is my go-to place when I'm looking for information about, well, everything crypto related. There is no other online community that I would trust more than this one as the people posting here have years of experience preventing frauds and scams. This forum has been around for years and is still going strong, and that is a testament to the quality and character of the people who post on here.

Beware of ponzi schemes and take care!

How do I transfer money from GBP wallet to BTC wallet? I'm with CoinCorner.

CoinCorner is a very simple exchange, buying cryptocurrencies with fiat (GBP) isn't all that hard. The exchange only offers an order box with a few different cryptocurrencies.

Simply select the Buy&Sell option from the main menu and select the cryptocurrency you want to buy:

Once you have made a purchase, select Withdraw to transfer the cryptocurrency to your personal wallet.

2265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine is now accepting cryptocurrency donations. Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT on: February 27, 2022, 05:45:38 PM
To erase whatever doubt people may have who are willing to help, I think the officials or some legal bodies should have publicly announced this information and made it known to everyone the official wallet that was authorized for the donation. That would have made it easier from the start...

They have already done so. Ukraine's official Twitter account, as well as the account of Vice Premier Mykhailo Fedorov, announced the crypto wallet details on Saturday. According to many media outlets, including bloomberg.com, it has been confirmed that the tweets and wallet addresses were legit.

2266  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ukrainian Scam Donation Posts and Users on: February 27, 2022, 05:32:56 PM
Good job exposing scammer. Some people are willing to go to extraordinary lengths in order to take advantage of other people's suffering. Unfortunately, he is far from the only scammer out there! I expect they will just keep coming back for more.

I would like to see that too.
I guess it won't get as well as you're thinking. I think your response chance will be 10% cause most of Bounty hunter's just know how to work on it. Don't know anything besides it. Actually I was talking about signature campaign mate. Social campaign are worthless nowadays.

Regardless, it would be interesting to see the results of such research. Who knows, it might even help some members (bounty hunters) to see the futility of theirs actions.

Quote
multitude of alt accounts to collect as many worthless tokens as possible in the hope that at least some of them will be worth something in the end. It is a numbers game - the more tokens you get, the more chances you have to earn something.
I agree with you , cheating has increased in huge number ,Bounty Manager's aslo now looking for quantity. But not all of Bounty Manager's tolerate this.

This is like dominos. I guess bounty managers also get paid in worthless tokens, so it's not surprising the low level of their engagement. Of course, I do not support this kind of behavior.
2269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent events should make everyone withdraw all their coins to their own wallets on: February 27, 2022, 02:17:57 PM
Russia are now being cut off from SWIFT, as well as some sanctions against the Central Bank of Russia.

Looks like bank runs are going to be come widespread across Russia. This tweet - https://twitter.com/taxfreelt/status/1497811412265099265 - roughly translates as "In Moscow and other Russian cities huge queues gather in front of ATMs. This was taken at 5 am." I imagine when the banks open tomorrow it's going to be mayhem.

Yet another reason to hold your own coins. There is nothing stopping a bank run on centralized exchanges either.

Yes. When it comes to cryptocurrencies, it is always advised to keep them in an offline, cold wallet for the majority of time. As a matter of fact, even the CEO of Kraken, one of the world's most popular cryptocurrency exchanges, has advised users on Twitter not to hold their coins on the exchange. Unfortunately, the majority of Bitcoin holders, used to using Coinbase and similar sites, are not technically savvy enough to self-custody solutions at the moment. And they probably won't be for a long time. So it will require a concerted effort to teach new users about the ideas behind self-custody wallets and the benefits they offer.

If this is indeed a violation, it means that you are dishonest, friend, because what I see is that the address is still active and did the Bounty registration a few days ago

Yes, you are right. This is clearly a violation of forum rules by evading a ban. He has been doing this for years and I doubt he will stop anytime soon. All we can do is continue exposing and reporting his alt accounts until a forum moderator steps in and bans them again.
2271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Linux Vs windows OS security on: February 27, 2022, 01:04:43 PM
Does anyone here only use linux as their main pc though?  Wouldn't that limit them from programs that require windows?

It depends on your primary use of a personal computer. A lot of folks do use linux as their primary pc, but some of them are often in the midst of juggling multiple machines. But, I know that some people here use linux, and would like to be able to do so, (though I haven't yet met one who uses it exclusively).

I also believe that some of those who use windows exclusively could probably be coerced into using linux if they needed to use it, even if they did not use it as their main os. After all, windows has it's place, but it is not the only so and a linux based machine does the same things that a windows machine does.
2272  Other / Meta / Re: Incorrect and unjustified deleted messages from 1xbit participants on: February 27, 2022, 11:41:40 AM
I remember reporting some of the posts on that campaing bullshit. From now on I'm going to take more notice and report as many as I can. Since scams are not moderated, we can do something to fuck them up. If they get a bunch of posts deleted they get paid less.

And it is not surprising that the one who came to complain has been banned for ban evasion. As of today 1xbit campaing participants are the worst of Bitcointalk.

Yes, I agree. Getting rid of these scammers from our forum is up to all of us. The issue is no longer whether 1xbit is scamming their players or not, the topic really comes down to their actions and how they affect this community. Evidently, 1xbit hire the worst of the scum for their promotions and ignore all the rules of professional conduct. Disgusting. I understand that at times it can be hard to detect the difference between good and bad on here, but you have to play by the rules of the forum to be a part of this amazing community.
2273  Other / Meta / Re: Why I love Bitcointalk! on: February 27, 2022, 10:36:38 AM
I love bounty sector's also , I can earn something while discover the forum.
You can earn something, that's true. But what that something is, that's open for discussion. Most of the time, it will amount to nothing. That something won't get listed or you wont be able to sell it because there wont be a market for it. No one wants to buy it because it doesn't solve anything. You can't spend it or use it as payment because no one accepts it.

This isn't the place do discuss it, but I would be interested in seeing a thread where bounty hunters can show what profits they have made with a "good token" in the last 6-12 months, for example. Then everyone can judge for themselves if that's something worth pursuing in today's time and age.

I would like to see that too. Bounty hunters, I assume, participate in dozens of campaigns at the same time, and as shown in numerous cases, with a multitude of alt accounts to collect as many worthless tokens as possible in the hope that at least some of them will be worth something in the end. It is a numbers game - the more tokens you get, the more chances you have to earn something. On the other hand, bounty organizers and creators of dubious crypto projects and scams get almost free exposure on social media and high profits with the resulting hype. Like in all other crowded markets, people will be the losers and the scammers the real winners.

2275  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Question is , what to do with the minned Bitcoins ? on: February 26, 2022, 11:17:36 PM
So, you tried to abuse Freebitco.in and now complain about them after they exposed and blocked you? What did you want to prove with your "series of tests"? How good are they at detecting abusers? Well, if nothing else, I would say the test was successful.
2276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will owning 0.01 BTC really make you rich? on: February 26, 2022, 10:49:30 PM
My goal is to make 1BTC by the end of 2023. At the moment I'm 0.xx+ BTC short but I'm making progress.
It is impossible to predict where the price of BTC will go in the future, but I believe if I can make 1BTC before the end of 2023 I will consider myself successful. I know it will not be easy, but I do believe that I will be able to do it. Why 1BTC? Because I believe it will have a life changing effect on me.
2277  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin Store vs Konkurencija on: February 26, 2022, 10:34:08 PM

2278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent events should make everyone withdraw all their coins to their own wallets on: February 26, 2022, 09:58:23 PM
Sure there is a high risk of leaving your funds in an exchange-controlled wallet because of unforeseen circumstances like the one happening right now with Russia and Ukraine, and other risks like exchange hack et al. However, there are several reasons that compel some people to have their funds in the exchange, same applies to having your funds in the bank, can you imagine someone having a stack of physical cash at home? That will be like inviting trouble especially when you are in a not-so-secured country.
There is a good and bad side of both, perhaps the former has a much higher risk than the latter.

One of the main advantages of bitcoin over cash is that you can have a nice balance in your bitcoin wallet but you don't really have to have it on you at all. You can use it to send and receive money from anywhere with internet access. The only thing you need is the private key or the seed phrase of your wallet, which can be written down even on a piece of paper.

Thanks to this, we don't have to carry cash when we have to travel to another country for whatever reason. Also, with bitcoins you don't need to have any centralized control in the payment process or any trusted third party. This is a major feature that no fiat currency has, which makes bitcoins a better option for traditional currencies.

2280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Metaverse on: February 25, 2022, 11:17:18 PM
what do you think about the coin metaverse , is this just of hype or will it be the most profitable coin in 2022 ?
~

There aren't too many options, so if I have to select between these two, I will go with "just another hype ".  Cheesy

Seriously, since you did not specify which coin you are referring to, I am not sure what you are asking. All the coins listed in the article are already established projects, and it is possible that they will continue to grow and gain popularity in the future.

Also, I would prefer that you linked to the original article instead of this copy-paste piece of garbage.
