Which is a good thing. I love how $10K is now a meh thing. That helps consolidation in the long term. I remember a time of low 3 digits, where both advocates and trolls would laugh (heartily) on this very forum at the notion of Bitcoin hitting $10K, much less hovering there near a stable price. It seemed like a pipe dream to almost everyone. Now it's here. In just a few years after. Which means that it's no only achievable to go much higher, but everyone has set their expectations way too low. |

I think Libra will be the most convenient stablecoin. With a BTC/Libra pair, you can easily use your BTC trading profits to order a taxi with uber/lyft, renew your Spotify subscription or book a hotel on booking.com. There is no need to sell your BTC for usd/euro and then withdraw from exchange to your bank account which takes what? 2-3 business days?
Libra is what all those shitcoins/tokens have tried to accomplish for 2-3 years now by making a crypto card that allows you to easily spent your crypto on goods and services. If it works well and is convenient to use it will make the lives of Bitcoiners easier, if you are willing to sacrifice some of your privacy.

So I'm thinking this libra nonsense will get heavily regulated, the states would be insane not to. And that will then be used as an excuse to regulate crypto in general, and bitcoin especially. It might be a good time to get around to moving elsewhere for those planning to do so.
Facebook has the money, clout, and kompromat to bulldoze through regulation. They already track FB account user data to sell to the ad agencies, retail companies, and government agencies. The next logical step is to link your captured user data to what you routinely spend your money on, and how much of it. Libra will help them do just that. And that will be perfectly fine with the regulators. |

Trying to rationalise my action in that context inevitably leads you to err in judgement. My interest in BTC price is quite simple to explain. I'm still interested in seeing whether a forecast I made nearly 2 years ago plays out, because then I get to feel smart. So far so good eh! The battle for 8k is proving interesting isn't it. In fact not only should you not care, you shouldn't own any BTC at all. The fact that you still own BTC and care about its price action betrays your true intent. What sgbett either fails to understand, or is just completely lost on him, is that it does not matter if BSV or some other fork portends to be "closer to Satoshi's vision", or has a savior named CSW, or whatever blah blah blah.
Cryptocurrency, like any other asset, is valued based on mass shared belief. Meaning it is a belief-driven personality contest among the masses, with the spoils going to the victor. The users vote with their fiat, the merchants vote with their support of selling goods for it, the brokers vote with their support, the investors vote with their investment fiat, the miners vote with how much machine mining power they are willing to devote to it. BitcoinTM is the clear winner of this widespread support in the ecosystem.
In the court of public opinion, BSV and all the other Bitcoin forks have already been evaluated, judged, and summarily discarded. BSV is regarded as dubious at best, and a complete scam at worst. CSW has only made that image worse, because he is a complete fraud and a Narcissistic snake oil salesman. And it gets worse by the day, every single time he opens his mouth. Same with Bitcoin Cash and Roger Ver. Two sides of the same "coin", so to speak.
It's not like the masses are going to suddenly have some kind of magical "aha!" eureka moment and go, "Oh yeah, it was BSV all along that is the one true Bitcoin! My my, how we were fooled for so long!" Ain't going to happen, that moment took the mass public all of about 3 seconds to evaluate and come to the conclusion that BCash and BSV are both bullshit scams.
There is no reversing that conclusion. That ship has sailed.
