Honestly Elwar, and not trying to rub salt into the wound, but when you first announced this cruise ship endeavor my very first thought that popped into my mind was "Nobody but maybe a handful will purchase those cabins. Getting close to thinking of taking a little profit in the form of 100 acres of prime forested property with 1500 feet of lake frontage, ten minutes from a major hospital and about an hour and a half from downtown Toronto. Under 23 bitcoins at current prices.  Thank you Bitcoin. Do it! Peace and serenity now is more important than pie in the sky, especially when we are not there (in the future). Now is actually months away. This is just the land. I'd still have to build a house, although in the spring I could still drop a trailer on the land for weekend use. The big problem is converting my coins into dollars and paying capital gains taxes. I don't have (nor want) a bank account. Luckily I have one paper wallet (my largest) which can be traced to my identity, containing about 30 coins. Hopefully that will cover it. You can build a house somewhere you want if you own the land? Wow ... here you can build only houses in special areas, which are flaged as housing areas from the goverment. You can buy property, but you aren't allowed to build something on it... you are lucky. Where do you live that has such Draconian property laws? |

Just heard a rumor today that Facebook will be launching an integrated wallet first quarter that will allow it's users to buy/sell Bitcoin.  Are you serious?! Don't tease us. Actually now that I'm digging more into it, I think the rumor is likely untrue. I think what they are launching in first quarter is this: https://www.novi.com/Initially, the Diem payment system will support only a few digital currencies, such as ≋USD, ≋GBP and ≋EUR, which will have the same value in the country’s respective currency (e.g. 1 USD, 1 GBP, 1 EUR). The Diem payment system will also support a combination of these digital currencies, ≋XDM. Over time, the Diem payment system intends to support additional digital currencies.
So it's a payment system wallet app. It will be integrated with Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger, but nothing on the site talks about Bitcoin. Sounds like they will have their own blockchain to facilitate transactions. Bummer.  |

Poor Peter Schiff, collecting gold for decades. Waiting for the fiat system collapses and his gold stash will moon, atleast that is his expectation. But I'm not so stupid as to place my 95% in PMs and only 5% in Bitcoin right now. For me it's the other way around. There is a lot of liquidity fighting for the same goods. A few institutional investors are getting in, one by one, pouring millions in. But the retail investors are not getting in massively yet. In December 2017 alone, the total number of Coinbase users grew by 6,8 millions. If they each invest 200$, it's 1,36B$ fresh money buying bitcoins. https://www.statista.com/statistics/803531/number-of-coinbase-users/The retail investors will come and there will be less and less sellers, the price could skyrock (until it crashes if there is a liquidity squeeze) A single institutional buyer can match that $1.36B and exceed it. This is their time now, and I dare say they'll do a better job accumulating BTC than retail investors who blow their wealth on toxic waste like XRP or XVG because "it's cheap". I agree, we'd all love to think that Average Joes combined fiat power can still push the price around, but that ship sailed a long time ago. Now Average Joes are just guppies along for the ride. |
