I hold R's to a higher standard because they profess to be "fiscally responsible". Well, at least when they are not in power, of course.

I used to believe that as well. But all you have to do is watch their actions, not their words.

Trump first raised the debt ceiling without so much as a whimper, proclaiming "I don't even know what's in the bill, I haven't read it. I'm going to sign it, but I'm not gonna do it again." Then when the time came to make a stand and *not* sign the $3T relief bill, he signed on the dotted line without hesitation. Didn't even push back or complain about it.

Fiscally responsible my ass.

Rep and Dem presidents, they're ALL in on it with the Fed, Central Banks, and globalist elites. They have to do as they are told and sell it to the American people as a "necessity".

The depressing part is this outcome sits at the feet of the mighty 401k: Once you set the perception that if the "market" fails you will be eating dog food in retirement it simply becomes another socialized version of "social security". The fact that well connected people (ie: pull) will profit handsomely from this is simply a "cost of doing business".
401ks have become a complete scam, the people just don't realize it yet. They just believe what they are told by their parents, family members, and "financial experts". Why do you think that 401ks lock peoples money in until they are 65 years old? There is a huge reason for that.

I believe this is why the Republicans always wanted Social Security to be invested in the market. However they seem to have accomplished their goal by raiding SS funds and using the IOU's to fund the market anyway. Ah well....
I guess you were asleep for 8 years while Obama and the Democrats were "raiding SS funds and using the IOU's to fund the market" ? Not saying they were the first though, both Rep and Dem administrations have been doing that for decades now. SS and pensions have become two of the largest Ponzi scams to date.

Wonder if any free markets exist in the world, aside from bitcoin.
Nope.

The first analysis by roach I actually like:

A dollar crash is virtually inevitable, Asia expert Stephen Roach warns

Quote

"The U.S. economy has been afflicted with some significant macro imbalances for a long time, namely a very low domestic savings rate and a chronic current account deficit," the former Morgan Stanley Asia chairman told CNBC's "Trading Nation" on Monday. "The dollar is going to fall very, very sharply."

His forecast calls for a 35% drop against other major currencies.

"These problems are going from bad to worse as we blow out the fiscal deficit in the years ahead," said Roach, a Yale University senior fellow.

This is it, COVID-19 steered our live to the worst in every negative way. Less health, less security, less privacy, more government, more failures ahead.

This isn't it, covid-19 is not the reason. There was a severe banking crisis in November last year when repo rates on the interbank market hit 10%. The Fed restarted printing money in November 2019. Covid-2019 is just a cover up!

Actually I think the Fed started printing and pumping money into the repo market as early as September 2019.

But alas becoin, most of the npcs around here just refuse to believe that Covid was a cover up for the inevitable "plandemic". They think it was the cause, when in fact it was the distraction.  They needed a valid reason to eject 20M+ U.S. citizens to the unemployment line, and print another $3T at 0% interest to give to Wall Street and the central banks, otherwise the people may turn their ire to focus on the real problem.

And I'm sure that in another 7-10 years, there will be another "crash" that totally wasn't planned. Hmmm, I wonder what will the cover story be next time? Another terrorist attack? Another so-called plague? War? Whatever the cover story will be, I'm sure they will convince the people that it was the cause as well. Then you can expect mass layoffs (again), and the Fed to print another many trillions $$$ at zero rates and hand it directly to the wealthy elite (again), all the while telling the commoners that they are "being saved from utter destruction" (again) with these actions. This is their business cycle modus operandi, and they will play that game over and over and over. Because apparently it works on the weak-minded 100% of the time, every time.

Incredible numbers here (savings rate 1959-2020):
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/personal-savings

33% savings rate when the last 25 years it was 5-7%.
What does this mean? Short term inflation is unlikely, long term, probably, guaranteed, with even a small whiff of goods shortage.
Everything is out of balance so I am keeping a hefty cash balance in my ret accounts.
Maybe the next 5-10 years is capital preservation time and we would have to be running just to stay put.

Research here shows that as long as the FED long term interest rate stays below 4%, the world will remain in a stagflationary or deflationary quagmire:

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/here-stunning-chart-blows-all-modern-central-banking

Quote
But what about the relationship between rates and savings, and by extension inflation? After all that is the topic of this post. Well, we can now confirm that our intuition from 2015 that negative rates are not only not inflationary but outright deflationary, and encourage consumers to save even more, was correct all along.

Below we post a chart from the latest Research Investment Committee report by BofA titled "Stagnation, stagflation or elevation", which with just one image blows up everything that is flawed with monetary policy. It shows that while lower rates indeed stimulate spending and lead to lower savings, this effect peaks at around 4% and then goes negative. In fact, the lower yields - and rates - drop below 4% - not to mention to 0% or below - the lower the propensity to spend and the higher the savings rate!

But equity and asset price inflation will continue to skyrocket.

That's really interesting about Android. I would have expected a lot more forks, even obscure ones, at this point.

TBH, I don't trust these types of PSA video posts. They always seem to come out of the woodwork, usually during the start of Bitcoin bull runs, telling normies (with the underlying implied message) to "Stay away from bitcoin, you could easily lose it all... like I did."

It's hard to say, but it could just another (paid) troll PSA post. If I'm wrong and he's legit, well, he didn't do enough security homework.

Also, the guy looks late-20's early 30's but his twitter account is only a year old? Ok. What's also odd/suspicious, is that if you look at his tweet history going all the way back to the beginning when he first created the Twitter account, he almost always tweets about Bitcoin. Almost exclusively. I mean, what average Joe bitcoiner really does that on Twitter?

All this shit in Seattle's Autonomous District is really making me super angry. This country is going full retard.

I wouldn't get worried about that CHAZ shit. It's basically just a bunch of kids having fun by taking themselves seriously.

It's really no different than the hippies having a love-in, while it lasts.
Eventually it will burn itself out and they'll go home, but some real good may actually come of it. The worst thing is to let it become a Kent State.

Let them paint slogans on the street or pass out flowers or whatever. It's the way the grown-ups react that will have the lasting effect. Eventually the Vietnam war ended and Tricky Dicky resigned in disgrace. Let's see how the bumbling reality-TV actor does in this fall's election. Let's see what anti-law-enforcement-brutality legislation results.

It's not worth the stress of anger.

But..bbut... "Who run Bartertown?!?!" Just look at all that peace and love being spread.

We are currently in the process of purchasing a 3D scanner (cost is around $25,000) and the manufacturer insists on using Intel CPUs on the PC. They are against AMD for some reason.

What brand of 3D scanner? Just curious.

Also Ryzen FTW.

Hey, Torque, I agree with a lot of the things that you say, and your various macro-level observations
Thanks

but even you should realize that you have both a tendency to go overboard with your conspiracy angle and your seemingly want to concede way more powers to status quo institutions than those fucktwats deserve and even taking matters way more personally than they should be taken.
No not really no

What you say, good ole buddy, can't we just get along?

Huh?

These kinds of market behaviors happen all the time, and you especially should be expecting attempts to keep the BTC price within a range in bitcoin as compared with other markets because bitcoin is still pretty damned immature, as a market, and there is a lot of ability to get away with attempting to control the price, but in the end, who the fuck is going to win?  The manipulators?

They can only manipulate so long.

No shit Captain Obvious, I know it won't go on forever. So does everyone else here.  Roll Eyes

And thanks for finally admitting that Bitcoin market manipulation is a real thing. I remember when you spent the first few years on this thread denying its very existence, and lambasting anyone who said otherwise.

So just about everyone now can see where things are going, and are simply raging about it.

But do you have the ability to capitalize on it? To increase your wealth and well-being into the future, where the future outlook will be grim for most?

WTF, Tesla stock. W.T.F.

Terrifying for the poor pleb investors.

I refused to be a fool, dancing on the string held by all those big shots...in Godfather's scratchy voice and caressing my 2 day stubble.

That said, at least it is not officially bankrupt yet.

A company that has operated in the red for its whole existence *is* bankrupt.

Tesla is not a company though, it's an R&D division funded by taxpayers. Therefore it will never go "bankrupt".
