Don't import keys from an address that has btc in it.
Send the btc to a new address first.
Then import the old keys into a btg wallet.
This relies on replay protection of course; but if there is no replay protection, why are you trying to split coins?
There is a way to split coins from a fork that has no replay protection, but it's way too complicated for me.
So: wait.
if i send bitcoin to another address and wait for 30 confirmations, i need to worry about no replay protection? i don't think so because those bitcoin are now associated with another privatekey right? |

So I used to mine dogecoins, 42coin, fedoracoin, and other meme crap. Ended up getting 2.5btc from trading and whatnot. Lost most of it from cryptsy.
Anyhow, I don't remember anything about mining, what settings to use, what miner to use, etc.
Also, I hear some coins are better suited for nvidia now? Is my r9 290 still good for anything?

Nvidia 1080ti is the best option if electricity is free. Kind of pricey tho.
Its better than buying like 3 or 4 older radeons for the same price perhaps even less? much better because you save a lot of space, it's very good for small farm that don't have space, i think nvidia is better now |

i think they need to release the client of bitcoingold first like they did for bitcoin cash, otherwise you can not import the private key to claim your coins locally, all you can do is move your bitcoin to an exchange that support the swap |

Right now, Bitcoin Gold, will just become another altcoin, where it will only be pump and dump. But, if and when, Bitcoin Gold, create their infrastracture, their coin application is really material.
