Most likely I will make an announcement tomorrow, since I have been in a bomb shelter for many hours (only with mobile Internet). Since the morning, Russia has not stopped missile attacks on the entire territory of Ukraine (more than 100 missile strikes). Sorry for the long wait and the inconvenience caused.

Woah  Sad Angry
Stay safe, everything else can wait, no matter what.

2303  Other / Meta / Re: Selling guns on Bitcointalk on: October 10, 2022, 09:08:13 AM
It's interesting to read you consider benzodiazepines as a drug. Then, why don't you tell your government to take care of all these millions of junkies in your country? Perhaps you have already used it yourself (no problem with that if you needed it). If so, it doesn't seem to have bothered you to be 'on drugs'.

Here there may be a translation issue: drug means also medicine, not only narcotic.

That's the reason for giving them only under prescription: they are addictive.
So I agree, it's illegal to sell them on the forum, since they're sold without prescription.

a random one found in a few seconds

I think that the mods and also the vigilance of the people reporting posts is somewhat overrated. Such old posts/topics can easily go under the radar.
And now, since this is from 2012, it can even be considered part of the history  Cheesy Cheesy
I mean, please report it, but don't be shocked if it won't be removed. Some details (eg e-mail address) should be edited out though so potential buyers cannot get in touch with the seller anymore (if it's the case).

But let's continue with your logic

Weed and knives are a grey area, some are very strict in that area, some not. And imho they're much different than the much better example of prescription medicine.

And I'll get to your (actually good!) original question and the answer is similar to the prescription medicine: since the buyer will most probable not show an USA ID nor a permit for guns, we can safely consider this kind of deals illegal, hence report them.

I woke up just for Suzuka to be honest

I didn't wake up for it and I was happy with the decision. 3 hours...
I've watched the end of the race, it was superb, with Perez vs Leclerc, with Hamilton vs Ocon, with Alonso vs Russell...

I hope I will be watching a rerun today. Whoever has missed it, I advise to look for a rerun, it worth it!
2305  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-10-07] Visa partners with FTX on: October 10, 2022, 07:06:17 AM
It might be a similar type of partnership that Visa has with banks.

This was what I expected/understood from that news. But the same news was putting Binance onto the same list as FTX and from my knowledge Binance cards are issued by Swipe, not Visa directly (as I already said).
So maybe it's in the way DaveF said, Visa takes the opportunity to get themselves into the news although it's not them who has made any actual direct partnership? It also may be that the journalists have no idea what they're writing about and some part of that news is mistaken. I really don't know...

2307  Economy / Collectibles / Re: {INFO} SO, YOU WANNA GENERATE YOUR OWN KEYS FOR PHYSICAL BITCOIN ITEMS? on: October 10, 2022, 06:39:45 AM
Use a Trezor. Reset the device....get a new seed created and use that to place under the Holo and use the corresponding public address for the loading part.

You can then reset and do as many times as needed to get as many new addresses as you want made.

I think that you can add Ledger too to the list. It has same property: enter wrong PIN 3 times in a row and you can generate a new seed.
Plus this can go in other places too, not only collectibles, since people still want to create their own paper wallets in a way or another.

I would add a live OS stick (Tails?) too as an option for easy setup, since the computer setup you wrote can be tricky, traces/files will remain there for when one restarts WiFi / network.

However, great initiative and nice tutorial!
2308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Get your Bitcoin off any exchange supporting "BSV" (due to insolvency risk) on: October 07, 2022, 04:18:16 PM
I don't begrudge the exchanges for doing it. They don't exist because they like us, the exist to make a profit so from that angle they are doing what they say they are going to do.

Clearly the exchanges do it for profit. And probably a big number of traders too.

Still, a network with only 9 nodes and the risk of getting funds seized is not something a business should spend time with if they want to be called reputable. But I guess that they don't care since if this happens BSV may also become worthless in no time, allowing the exchanges reimburse their affected users without a significant loss.

Still these exchange should not bite the hand that feeds them (mostly Bitcoin, I'd expect), hence do this (delist BSV), if not for the sake of their own (and their users') solvability, then as a gesture of courtesy.
2309  Economy / Exchanges / Re: scam email? on: October 07, 2022, 03:58:08 PM
@coinbaseie.com

If you look here the domain was created just 71 days ago.
I'd guess that somebody has managed to buy a domain name similar enough to Coinbase's and send some phishing mail (i.e. scam)

As a general rule, when you get this kind of e-mails you should never click them, instead go to the intended website by the link you know/use normally and see there if there's any announcement for you, or even ask the support.
2310  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it possible to calculate how much the price of BTC? on: October 07, 2022, 03:48:09 PM
BTC's circulating supply is now 19 billion out of the 21 billion caps.

Is it possible to calculate how much the price of BTC will go up until it hits the 21 billion cap?

I know there is some complicated math you can do about circulating supply, market cap, price etc, it's all connected,

How can I calculate the price potential of BTC within the next 1-10 years?

The price is related to block reward (halving every ~4 years), mining difficulty (rising with more and more powerful miners getting plugged in) and also quite a hefty speculative component. Maybe other things too. Altogether I don't think that anybody could "calculate" the future price.
I expected the worldwide rise of electricity price will also matter, but for now it doesn't give any sign to do so.
Overall increase in bitcoin popularity makes more invest / hold and this increases the speculative component...

So yeah, people throwing this or that price in the news just make worthless speculation. Nobody has a crystal ball and math doesn't help here.
2311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!! on: October 07, 2022, 03:42:17 PM
I expect a new ATH, something above $100k. Only this time it will happen not after, but before the Feb 2024 halving. People are smart now, they know what happens after halving, so they will start buying beforehand, somewhere closer to the end of the year 2023, or maybe a bit earlier.

The discussion about $100k is circulating even if the halving still far to happen since many people thinks that bull run will continue to happen this year but all expectations fade out to due to bearish situation. But $100k is truly possible if big hypes coming but I'm not expecting any 6 digits yet since I think $90k will be more realistic price to reach up.

Well, OP was asking about other expectations than the price.
And while everybody hopes for 100k or higher, there are chances that if recession strikes we may not even reach the previous ATH...
2312  Other / Meta / Re: The curious case of the Brand New user with posts on: October 07, 2022, 03:27:28 PM
I see that several of you mentioned that the user is banned... but I don't understand something: is there any connection between being banned and having those posts hidden...?

I think that I've seen before at least one user being banned and all their posts being obliterated. But I don't remember details.
So I would say that yes, there must be a coneection.

And from what I see in the trust feedback, the mentioned user was evading a ban, so probably it's part of some automatic "punishment" that didn't manage to "reset" everything.

Maybe a mod knows more...
2313  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-10-07] Visa partners with FTX on: October 07, 2022, 03:11:23 PM
An interesting news (and somewhat awaited): Visa partners with FTX
CNBC: Visa partners with FTX in a bet that shoppers still want to spend cryptocurrencies in a bear market
TechCrunch: Visa dives deeper into crypto as FTX-linked debit card expands outside US

Visa is betting that crypto investors still want to spend their digital currencies, even as prices plummet this year.

The payments giant is teaming up with global exchange FTX to offer debit cards in 40 countries with a focus on Latin America, Asia and Europe. The cards, which are already available in the U.S., will link directly to a user’s FTX cryptocurrency investing account. The move allows customers to spend digital currencies without moving those off an exchange, “like you would with any bank account,” according to Visa’s CFO.

Although FTX starting - sooner or later - to offer Bitcoin (and maybe other crypto) related debit cards worldwide is pretty much normal and probably expected by some of FTX customers, I find interesting that it's said that "Visa partners with FTX" and not the other way around and I find interesting that FTX partnership is directly with Visa and not a 3rd party provider like we've seen in the "previous generation" of crypto cards.
Clearly, FTX is moving in the direction to compete (someday) with Binance.

It’s Visa’s latest foray into the space and adds to more than 70 crypto partnerships. The San Francisco-based company has already joined forces with FTX’s competitors Coinbase and Binance.

I guess that there are bits I'm missing, since I thought that Binance cards, for example, are issued by Swipe, not by Visa directly.
2314  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Exposed ... Mistakes or ... on: October 07, 2022, 10:36:46 AM
if any one address prv key exposed, in series all addresses balances could be in high risk

I'm not sure I understand where's the problem (as in 2022); similarly with any modern HD wallet, it would be utterly stupid to an user to expose any of his private keys.
Did you manage to get private keys? I guess not. It is written everywhere nowadays that people should avoid brain wallets since they're unsafe. I think that all brain wallets got emptied years ago (the few addresses from your list I've checked were also emptied years ago).
2315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!! on: October 07, 2022, 09:36:00 AM
So dear colleagues, What are your expectations? other than price increase  Cool
*Do you expect to see widespread adoption and acceptance?
*More involvement from big companies?
*More popular?
*Increase number of users?
*Any other.......

First of all, I agree with @davis196, there's still a long time until the next halving and too many things can happen.
However, I do expect wider acceptance, more companies do business related to bitcoin, increased popularity and number of users, but none of that is related to halving. This happens pretty much with every day passing.

What I expect more? On long terma I expect LN get used at a really large scale, I expect more similar solutions emerge, I expect we get to the point Bitcoin gets as easy to use as the fiat credit cards and that also get implemented in shops (eg. grocery store chains), I expect large businesses enter into mining either to burn excess energy, either to keep the network secure for the sake of their own musiness.
How much of this is going to happen until the next halving I don't know, but one can hope.

2316  Other / Meta / Re: Would you be interested in promoting Bitcoin projects/services for free? on: October 07, 2022, 09:25:09 AM
Btw, @NeuroticFish, you are still wearing the old Bitcoincleanup.com avatar. There is a new and sparkly one. Although, the old one looks cleaner and more rounded.

I've missed the "announcement", but I've noticed that many wear a different avatar for Bitcoincleanup.com and that's why I didn't comment on that.
The new avatar looks somewhat broken on my computer. Probably that's the part supposed to be "sparkly" (that's why I kept the old one and I feel it does the job just fine).

Thanks for trying to bring that into my attention though.
2317  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Binance Smart Chain Hacked For An Estimate Of 100 million dollars on: October 07, 2022, 08:34:36 AM
If there are about 100 Million dollars become hacked for the exploit then how the fund can remain safe? Then who lost the funds all funds lost by the binance or someone from outside of the Binance? It seems something suspicious. And if loss of funds of users then binance will never take responsibility.

The part of the funds that have not arrived in centralized exchanges cannot be moved right now, since that blockchain is halted.
I would not be surprised if a rollback or (if that's possible) an alternate chain will be made leaving out the transaction(s) related to the hack.
I will add this, since it tells is very good:

In Binance Smart Chain they relies on 21 validators with Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) which mean that those 21 validators who can suspend the network, delete coins, add new one, and more.

Note that most or all of these 21 are directly or indirectly managed by Binance.
2318  Other / Meta / Re: Would you be interested in promoting Bitcoin projects/services for free? on: October 07, 2022, 08:26:56 AM
The true essence of this question should be that will you be willing to let go of your signature in order to wear another signature for free for a noble or social cause. The majority of the people will answer No to this question as money is more important for most people.

No, your logic is incorrect, sorry. As said, expecting people leave paid campaigns for free ones is unrealistic.
On the other hand there are still many users not part of campaigns and/or simply wearing their own avatar; if 10-20% of them would do just a little to help these projects it would already matter/become visible.
2319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: This move saved millions of dollars but there is a catch on: October 07, 2022, 08:12:02 AM
A Huge respect for CZ of Binance exchange, I never knew that a blockchain project can be frozen that fast to stop the hackers who tried to steal 2M BNB worth 570M, by the way isn't that centralised and more vulnerable to government bans?

Bitcoin won my vote for life as it can never be paused this effortlessly and hastily. At the same time CZ saves the day, again. Around of applause 👏 for this smart leader.

Actually this shows the high degree of centralization in the BSC network.
While this time CZ used this for good, you never know when this would be used for bad things or just simply against you.

So the only "hats off" would be in order because CZ has revealed the true nature of BSC (for those still doubting it) in order to stop hackers.
2320  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best Way to Backup Up a Ballet Wallet on: October 07, 2022, 07:51:11 AM
[1] Sure, their wallet requires no set-up. Because they did it in advance - making it wholly insecure in the process!

While I agree it's a fancier and arguably less secure paper wallet simply because you don't know how careful they were in the process, I would not call it insecure simply because as we all know there are other similar collectibles funded with very big number of bitcoin and they are still safe and secure, so it is possible to be done right.

I do have a ballet card, I've won it at a free raffle here on bitcointalk, it's a small denomination (0.001BTC) and being this small I've funded it.
I find it a nice collectible and a nice way to give a present, but, call me paranoid, I would not keep large funds on it. If need be I know how to make myself securely a paper wallet (plus I have a hardware wallet too).
