In the maddening rush to claim the free bitcoingold coins and in all we do, let us remember what happened with the dude who told his story here of how he lost 45.8 btc in the last fork of August 1. He wrongly moved his fucking 45.8 bitcoins and they disappeared into thin air! The story is found here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2059967.0

this has nothing to do with my concern, he lost his money because he downloaded a malware, not because the fork, please read better next time the subject
2343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moving bitcoin before the new fork on: October 18, 2017, 08:06:03 AM
Why should i move Bitcoin?? And anyone knows which exchange will give bitcoin gold in this bitcoin fork??

because you need to claim your bitcoin gold fork and to do this you need to move first your bitcoin to avoid lose them, then you dump the private key and take your forked bitcoin

no win version for the new wallet can someone compile and post it thanks
2345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moving bitcoin before the new fork on: October 16, 2017, 04:34:53 PM

While the hard fork day is near, put it on the wallet that holds your private keys. So you do not have to worry about what happens to your btc hold. You can also receive free btg or bitcoin gold. On the day of forking it is still just a bitcoins now because BTG distribution is 1: 1 meaning how many bitcoins you hold is that the BTG you get

yeah but my concern is if i can use the same private key to claim both fork bitcoin cash and gold o i need to move my coins two times
2346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I lost 95 Bitcoin on: October 14, 2017, 01:52:32 PM
i always do a secure erase before putting and moving my cold storage on my desktop, so you are sure that your pc is clean, maybe could be a bit overkill but with bitcoin you never know
If you want to have a cold storage for your bitcoin then it is not about the storage in pc because it is still risky because your pc is connected in the internet and the best thing to do is to have an offline wallet like paper wallets and hardware wallets that will secure your bitcoin well because they are not connected to internet so the hackers cannot access it but you only.

if you do a secure erase it will be clean anyway, so you can import your cold storage safely

oh it's clear now, so i have another question, can i use the same private key that i used for claiming bitcoin cash, to claim now bitcoin gold? or i need to move again my bitcoin?

first you need to wait and see if they are going to implement a strong 2 way replay protection or not.
- if they do, it is not necessary but it is highly recommended.
- if they do not, you must split your coins first and then use the keys.

it is always safer to move your bitcoin first and then import the private keys in the new wallet software. you never know what malicious things or even simply bugs are in these wallets. they are not exactly tested or reviewed specially in if you are doing it in the early days.

therefore i need to move two times my bitcoin to claim first the cash fork, and then the gold fork, that is a pain in the ass to do
2348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moving bitcoin before the new fork on: October 14, 2017, 06:16:17 AM
can we move our bitcoin before the new fork happen? and after?
you can move your bitcoin anytime you want. bitcoin network has been working and will continue to work at all times.

Quote
how it work exactly do we risk to lose our coins because of replay attack?
you do NOT lose your bitcoin if you move your bitcoin.

replay attack means the transaction you make on bitcoin network will also be valid on the other (fork) chain too. so it can be mined there too.

imagine you are making a payment to 1BtcAddress... you obviously don't control the private key to 1BtcAddress and you are making a bitcoin payment. that goes one fine without any issues. but the same payment will happen on the forked chain and you also pay bitcoin_forked to 1BtcAddress... on the forked chain. but since you don't control the key to that address, your bitcoin_forked coins are practically lost.

remember this works the other way around too. meaning if you claim your bitcoin_forked coins, the transaction you make on the forked chain is also valid on bitcoin network so you get the bitcoin_forked coins and lose bitcoin!

that is why these chains have to implement a strong two way replay protection or if they don't you have to first split your coins then make a transaction.

oh it's clear now, so i have another question, can i use the same private key that i used for claiming bitcoin cash, to claim now bitcoin gold? or i need to move again my bitcoin?

can we move our bitcoin before the new fork happen? and after? how it work exactly do we risk to lose our coins because of replay attack? from 25 october to 1 novemeber there will be this new fork i want to know thnaks

You are a legendary forum member and you are asking ,i would say,a "newbie" question?Wow,this is strange.
The most important question here is which wallets and exchange platforms will support the forked altcoin called "Bitcoin Gold".I remember that during the previous forks some exchange platforms were limiting deposits and withdrawals. This might happen again.

i'm just asking which is the time windows where our coins are safe like with bitcoin cash it was advised to not move anything while we were near the fork date

Wallet is taking forever to sync  how can i speed up the process?

what ssd you have? if you have a slow hdd there is the problem maybe put the roaming file in a ssd to sync faster, with this datadir=yourlocation put it in the client

How many lux you get mining with 1070 or 1080ti?

with a 1070 maybe 1 per day

i'm getting exactly 12 per day with 12 1070 so yes you are right, this on yiimp pool if you mine in solo you can probably do more because no 2% fee are there
2353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: October 14, 2017, 05:36:09 AM
Please take a look at VIVO dash clone with no new feature still have value around $4 and peak at $7

yeah i also think that helium will have at least a value of 50k satoshi but helium has the swap which mean free coins for many people that will dump, will be harder to have initial high value imho
2354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LUXCoin — New PHI1612 PoW/PoS Hybrid Algorithm — Parallel Masternodes on: October 13, 2017, 05:40:26 AM
There is no way 1070 does only 13 Mh/s, I get almost 14 with 1060.
Make sure you have the latest ccminer version, it was greatly improved since my initial release.

oh i was just using the miner on the first page i missed that there is a new ccminer version, thank you going to check it now
2355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: October 13, 2017, 05:38:59 AM
Bittrex could not aford to NOT list Helium. There, you heard it here first.

i prefer cryptopia they don't have the maximum on the withdrawals like bittrex, unless you verify your identity and i don't like that in crypto, i think bittrex will list HLM anyway this coin gonna be big
2356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LUXCoin — New PHI1612 PoW/PoS Hybrid Algorithm — Parallel Masternodes on: October 12, 2017, 10:33:42 AM
when the memory decreases, the hash decreases, gpu clock 1370 mem ciock 2130, intensity 21, rx 580, 15mh / s card is normal?

I've seen Discord posts claiming numbers in the 14-17 Mh/s range for the 580.
Depends on a lot of factors, as I said earlier, and on timings also.

Maybe start with ~1300 core / 2030 mem and 20 intensity and tweak from there.

this mean that the 1070 is underperforming because it's only 13MH and should be 20 right? there is someone working on a faster nvidia miner for this algo?

can you release a new wallet with bug fixes? i have checkpoint is too old now and with the node on the main page i can't fix the problem

i think a better approach to the airdrop would be to make it based on range amount that investors hold and per time, what i mean is if you have between 0 and 10 you get 3% every week for only one month, if you have between 10 and 100 you get the same for six month, up to 1000 for one year and above 1000 forever until depletion

any nodes wallet can not sync for me, the initial post should be uploaded with more info about nodes and other useful stuff like pool list

My SPR finally arrived Bittrex, price too low now thinking to sell or not Undecided

I wouldn't sell... I think price might recover somewhat. I'm not sure we'll see over $2, at least for a while, except for any future announcements.

But I think you'e probably selling yourself short by dumping, especially if Helium price starts looking good. Smiley

i don't think will recover too much max 20k satoshi, spreadcoin now is a pump and dump
