Hell, it is ALL a Bull Market to me!

Compared to when I turned on my KNC Jupiter Miner on 0ctober 18th, 2013 and 'when sometime' that day when I looked, One Bitcoin was $150.00 USD!

And I was making about ONE Bitcoin a Day! I miss them days, damn it was fun! If I only knew then what I do now about this! As an aside, HODL!

Looking at Bitcoin 'long-term' it is 'nothing but a large bull run', IMHO. Wink All a matter of your 'Timeline' Smiley

Brad

heh yup. started mining coins on gpus in mid 2011-2013ish when the price was tanking from $30ish to $2 USD. oops. but i kept those gpus going.

as you man i wish i knew just how absolutely stupid high this corn thing would go. it was like popcorn back then.

What's your problem with centralization anyway? Don't you know that centralization into data-centers is actually good for BitCoin? Everyone keeps bashing centralization without even knowing what it means and what are its implications. This is exactly the thing that bothers me about these wannabe technical experts who have never taken even the basic course of programming. Boo-hoo go whine to ISPs that they are so centralized. You see your fallacy already? Centralization is part of professionalization, which in turn contributes to lower transaction fees and more use cases.

so ultimately there is one validator - ie yours/CSWs/(((thems)))/the lizards/etc?

who will have the computing power to validate your central all powerful node? be nice if someone, whos not a state actor, could validate the blockchain.

or we just have to buy a high end datacenter to trust you guys?
2383  Other / Meta / Re: Is there any possibility to put on ignore every member who display a signature? on: February 05, 2020, 10:50:46 PM
as i have no sig, if you ignore everyone one with sigs, youll only be left with me and the (few?) others with no sigs.

i dont think thats what you want.

Sorry for the off topic in this Corona Virus Observer thread [...]

well, not exactly off topic. after all if we are rich enough we can isolate ourselves from the great unwashed masses. citadels anyone?

Jeep, I've always had one at home, you can do anything with them. Wink

oh yeah the original. built by ford and willys.. a bud of mine has one that he has restored. runs it in parades.

fun fact - in the original willys (WW2 vintage) all the ford parts have a "F" stamped on them lol. so when a part broke they would known who manufactured it.
2386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the best Bitcoin hardware wallets? (Merits for help) on: February 02, 2020, 05:27:26 PM
trezor. have had NO issues with it AT ALL. ive had mine since 2013 or 2014.

however there is a flaw that if you lose the trezor its possible that at some point they can extract the seed (if its found by someone who know what they are doing). but again you have to LOSE it. as long as only you have access youre fine. you can use any browser and you can point it at your own local copy of the blockchain so you dont have to use trezors back end.

the ledger s.. hell no. had problem after problem. they keep changing the software you need to work with it. plus blown firmware updates no thanks, i like stuff that Just Works.

buy directly from satoshi labs (slush) only. NEVER buy a used one.
2387  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 02, 2020, 04:24:26 PM

Nah. I recently updated.

Of course, a couple days ago GMC throws sand in my face by announcing a 1000-hp Hummer-branded EV.

::sigh::

i like huge SUVs also. partly because of the higher views, but mainly because it can go where i point it, no matter what is in front of it (to a point).

cant use EV atm, need petrol. no charging stations in wastelands. jeep XJ cherokee with full belly plate, 3 inch lift, as thats the biggest size thats fits 31s stock with out cutting (done proper; with lots of droop, no spacers or shackles). and its very stable on highway at speed. any more lift and, well, look up XJ videos on how easy they roll lol. winch (i figure between that and the belly plate and diff armor i can drag myself over whatever droop or flex cant handle). front locker, waterproof, snorkel , dual batteries, etc
2388  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 02, 2020, 04:14:08 PM
Or maybe it was before your time.

Ouch!!!

That's funny. Yer both relative n00bs, going by your reg date here in BTCT.

i am, in addition to never growing into an adult, also a perpetual noob in this space.

as my brain is broken, and it never was fully functioning to begin with (congenital). so, i continually learn stuff, them promptly forget it.

this does have advantages though.. i can watch movies and read books and enjoy them like the 1st viewing or read stuff all over again as i cant remember jack.

its one reason i like math and some sciences so much. you can forget a lot and just recreate the knowledge as needed with simple rules.
2389  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2020, 03:58:04 PM
(called layering? i forget. theres a term when avoiding hitting the 10k limit, like 9700, 8500 etc). so i do 10k on the dot chunks.

"structuring" is the term, words are important in this context, like the difference between evading and avoiding...

yeah thats it.

i know that if you try and hide it (legal terms blur in my mind but i understand the clear meaning: dont F*** with us as we will know , you will get boned big time, and with the utmost care.

bleh, no thanks.

so i figure i might as well be obvious, toss some 10k deposits in for a period of time. its like "LOOKIT ME!"

nothing happened.
2390  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2020, 03:06:28 PM
ive moved have surely caught the banks attention as any individual transfers over 10,000 USD get flagged. and i dont try to hide them (called layering? i forget. theres a term when avoiding hitting the 10k limit, like 9700, 8500 etc). so i do 10k on the dot chunks.

It's called smurfing/structuring.

Yeah, be very careful not to do it, as that adds even more risk for being tagged and reported. Multiple periodic under-the-limit (whatever it is in your country) transfers would rise all the flags.

Also, it is completely different to send/receive money from a "well-known" exchange (which most banks should have no issue with)... than to make multiple "undocumented" CASH deposits into the bank account and/or make/receive bank transfers to unknown individuals.

true, dat. come in with 10 grand cash and im sure someone will be wanting to talk to you as well as people lined up after that one.

at some point way back i had told them about coinbase and this account would mostly be an on/off ramp for btc. of course the fact that whenever i cashed out anything large i would cash out ~15 percent extra and stick it the bank CDs or something there for a year or whatever. that covered taxes and im sure they didnt mind holding on to it.

been lucky perhaps? but the bank seems awful fond of me for whatever reason.
2391  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2020, 01:34:21 AM
My bank kicked me out simply for having bitcoins. They demanded information about whatever transactions I make. Obviously I told them to fuck off, and that was that.

Had I gone along with it, they would eventually have pushed for more. Access to monitor my wallets, maybe eventually direct access to them or demanding that they hold them in custody. Be careful.

my bank has no issues with coinbase. yes i use coinbase, since 2013. never had any issues at all. the amounts ive moved have surely caught the banks attention as any individual transfers over 10,000 USD get flagged. and i dont try to hide them (called layering? i forget. theres a term when avoiding hitting the 10k limit, like 9700, 8500 etc). so i do 10k on the dot chunks.

You'd think someone who "earned" almost all his coins, (and alts) in these forums would be loaded, but it's those people who bought them (or mined them) and HODL who have anything today, because they didn't need to cash it out, spend it or do anything with it.

They're the ones who would be ok even if bitcoin never existed, because they'd most probably be invested in something else that produces great returns compounded over long periods of time.

yes, not having your financial future at risk (as in OK in the fiat space) if btc craters makes it a lot easier to hodl through those prolonged bear periods and panic scenarios.

something else to consider is cashing in an amount that could hold you through some period of time like say 2 or 3 years. in those kind of timeframes there is a much better chance of catching a decent high to cash out some of whats left or some of whatever youve stacked since. it allows one (in theory) to just coast through bear markets. of course with this strategy you may leave a lot of (potential) profit on the table, but peace of mind is a nice thing to have.

2396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 29, 2020, 11:27:12 AM
There seem to be a lot of posters who automatically assume that if you've been around for a long time you're fooking loaded which must make those who know the truth groan.

yeah was almost amusing in a way till one gets tired of it, and ive only been doing it since 2011.

i mined btc with gpus in 2011-12 or so. sure, got some corn. at like $2 USD per btc. big deal. well of course now but then..

i remember testing various wallets and OS distros, blew some stuff up. so 5 btc in a wonky wallet? pfft just forget about it, not worth the 10 minutes to fix it. pool held back? just go to another pool. exchanges wiping out, shady shovel salesmen, hardware/software failure, being stupid. etc

im surprised i managed to keep anything really.

2399  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 27, 2020, 04:19:39 PM

ive never panic sold btc but, like you, ive sorta "panic bought" things, which is basically the same. of course in 2011-2013 or so there was a lot less confidence in btc so the ability to turn majick internetz money into real stuff was an easy sell.

ive looked up my prev mining addys when i gpu mined btc as i wanted to sign messages saying those addys were mine for various purposes if needed. cringworthy is an understatement as to the amount btc that i mined. ive got a small fraction left, and thats all that matters. its a win in my book. no regerts.

TL;DR: HODL is the best stratagy.

I guess you and Searing share the factor that you were earning some of your income in BTC rather than in fiat, so one thing that puts any BTC earner in the lead of a fiat earner is that s/he is forced to consider his/her HODL strategy ... or allocation regarding what is the ratio of BTC to fiat.   So, there is an implied knowledge of BTC, and a likely conscious measure regarding how much of that value needs to be treated like a longer term investment versus used for daily living expenses.

it is a different mindset. i had a strategy for mining that worked for my situation as far as how much was long term vs play btc. but also consider at that time i wasnt in in for the long term value that may or may not moon/crater at any moment. it was for fun and belief in the tech. i wanted to use it. not just collect it.

i still have that respect of course. but with the 50 thousand percent increase in value (or whatever it is) now greed factors in Smiley
2400  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 27, 2020, 02:09:08 PM

[...] every BTC I've ever spent has come back to haunt my ass. Panic'd like a small 9-year-old girl (with screams) when I sold 13 BTC last year on

12/24/19 when BTC was $3,965.00 USD. Groan! I managed to thru dumb luck equipment sales and such to get back 4 BTC from such. But it really sucks. So yeah, its a gift, my

ability to sell at the wrong time or get 'dubious' ASIC equipment. The above wallet is NOT my hoard however, just what was emptied to add to such Hoard in 1 address.

[...]

shriek like a 9-year-old yet again). Rinse/Wash/Repeat. As you can see my 'strategy' is very sophisticated, don't ya know. Smiley

So like 5 out of 5 selling BTC at the wrong time and never to recover vs HODL mode (soothing). So yeah, I got 'issues' with BTC your merciless bitch!

heh yeah the 1st time panic mode kicks in.. welcome to the show.

ive never panic sold btc but, like you, ive sorta "panic bought" things, which is basically the same. of course in 2011-2013 or so there was a lot less confidence in btc so the ability to turn majick internetz money into real stuff was an easy sell.
