The problem is not that there is a female version of James Bond out there, the problem is that she is replacing James Bond.
This is so typical of the left, instead of creating their own version the way they would like it, the force others to change their version in to something they like.
This is going to be a disaster moneywise.

a few years ago they replaced dr who (one of the longest running tv shows in history) title character that has been played by something like 13 male actors (via a "regeneration" thing) with a female version. the show sucks donkey genitalia now.
if the shows had been well written she possibly might of pulled it off. but all the stories suddenly were politically correct. wtf.

gotta always mess with stuff that doesnt need messing with.

This is not unusual or a big thing. Saying it was on "two chains" is invalid as there is only one real chain.

It was technically a "block reorganization". Happens all the time. This one was just more significant than all the others, and people ran with the FUD over a trivial number of satoshi.

why was this reorg so important? we have had longer chain reorgs (even 2+ blocks orphaned a few times iirc but its rare). was it just some big shot who had no clue as to how corn and POW works noticed and freaked?

Nice cup of tea this morning!

Got to get myself one of those, but I don't drink coffee or tea. I guess I can always leave it at work when I retire at the end of this year.

you know those cups can hold alcohol too right Smiley 4 shots to a cup iirc

I am hesitating to fire my last few quid off the bank account to the broker.
But then i'd be stepping into over-investment territories.

guts say: do it, now!
mind says: don't overinvest.
so what to do now?

1390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often are people really hacked out of their BTC? on: January 21, 2021, 02:51:43 AM
never been hacked, but ive sure lost a fair amount of coin through my own stupidity. as in being too clever hiding or otherwise storing seeds/wallet files/paper wallets etc, poor backup strategies (not testing them, poor execution and or media fails). one tends to learn fast in such situations.

so being hacked is certainly something to be aware of and everyone who wants to be their own bank needs to get at least the basics down.

i highly suggest yubikeys for 2FA. SIM swaps, fishing emails, email account takeovers.. a yubikey will protect against much of that. and hardware wallet/paper wallet or properly airgapped computers are a must, as well as protecting their location and environment.

Only works in the day

Also, I don't know why, but I can't manage to get it to work indoors, even with the windows open!

obviously the solar panel and battery need replacing; theyre worn out. its a bitch to replace though.

Maybe you just need to turn the gnomon to wind it up.

but which way to wind it? left or right?. is it opposite in the different hemispheres? or if you look from the back?

I'm not 100% in favor for this watch but still I do love traditional watches more over sports watches or apple watches or whatever ...
Quote
I wasn't referring to sports or Crapple watches. I was referring to the need for watches at all. Cellphones are pretty much de rigeur in today's world and every cellphone tells you the time, updated regularly.

The only use I see for wristwatches is for decoration and I don't wear jewelry or tattoos.

all i use my smartwatch for is for reminders (set on its calendar) and such. as being retired the only real reason i need to know the time/date anyway is for meds and MD visits lol.

and yeah phones tell the time. if you wanna dig it out of your pocket. but nothing beats smartly snapping your arm out and reading the time off your watch though. old school but satisfying anyway.

before smart watches and such, i always liked those old school LED watches (you know the ones you pressed the button and it lit the time up in red LEDs). they must still make retro models or have used ones for sale somewhere.

edit: pretty sure i messed the quotes up so took the names off. sorry

Bean counters at Boeing got away with a $2.5B slap on the wrist for the 737 MAX debacle. Cost of doing business.

well they build military hardware beside the civilian side of it so there are hardly going to be really punished. military needs their toys.

1396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 18, 2021, 11:19:49 AM
a long time ago, when Nixon stepped down, my father (military) turned and told me "you are witnessing democracy at work, and a peaceful transition of power. no bullets, no army" or something along those lines. at the time i was like "ok, cool."

guess i took for granted how immutable that seemed.

this is not aging well

Sad

Wouldn't it be funny, if many many years from now, the US Govt needs to start buying BTC to start paying off it's debt ?

If they were smart they would start to buy some right the fuck now.

and they auctioned off all that silk road stash back in the day. what was the price they got? heh

edit: looks like (roughly i havent checked figures) 144k btc sold for 48 million. ~$330 USD per btc  lulz.

So, today, I did some degenerate sat stacking. Feelin' pretty decent. Looks like I'm gonna get filled @ $35,000 soon, at this rate. Orders placed all the way down to $33k.
[...]
Lots of deja vu doing this stuff. Don't like hitting targets more than 3x

I wonder though. With so many coins you have (in the big hundreds or more, I'm sure), what's the point of buying $250 worth of BTC? Is this just for fun/entertainment purposes? Because, even when Bitcoin goes 10x (and it will), your $250 (or $1250) will become $2500 ($12,500). Just peanuts compared to the coins you have.

[...]

On the other hand, "every little helps", and maybe we should all be doing that, no matter how large or small the amount. In fact, your post is seriously tempting me to wire a few $$$$ to buy more corn...

not speaking for bob but ive done similar things. cashed out more than the needed amount for whatever project, had unallocated fiat left over after so started buying back in. might as well have fun doing it, so i have all sorts of odd amount buys.

buying corn is addictive yo. cant stop
1399  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just created an account with Gemini & have questions on: January 16, 2021, 10:00:28 AM
I've never sent funds via wire and I don't feel like paying the fee--that's one reason why I'm not proceeding with the Gemini registration.  The other reason is that I don't like my bank, and right now it's the only one I've got.  A couple of years ago, the bank manager pulled me aside when I went in to make a deposit, and she asked me what "all those charges to Circle are".  I told her I was buying bitcoin, and I have a feeling I've been under suspicion ever since.

surprisingly, the branch manager i spoke to for the wire knew about coinbase in particular - when i mentioned i was getting sick of their server going down during heavy activity she mentioned "yeah server overload" like she experienced it too.. we actually got into a brief talk on coinbase, its chainanaylsis division, how it shares info with any 3 letter agency that asks, etc.  and she also knew gemini (she knew the winklevoss bros owned it when i brought it up).

Thus I don't want to wire money from my bank to a crypto exchange.  And yeah, I probably should look for a different bank, but there aren't many available in my immediate area and it's just a fucking hassle jumping through hoops these days.  Banks and everything else have put up so many hoops it almost looks like that fuckin' awful Nintendo 64 Superman game when you try to create a new account with a bank or any other financial institution.

i had a coinbase account linked to this bank since 2013. so that probably helped in my case.
