To anyone who is not a complete moron I simply say wear a respirator with P100 filters. MSA makes a nice model that does the job even if a POS coughs on you.

properly fitted p100s are easier to breath through than n95s anyway, and are actually pretty comfortable. i used p100s for years in my line of work so maybe im just used to them.

and nothing gives more peace of mind knowing than aint nothing getting through them, basically.

one thing i did do is buy a couple brands with different fittings so i would have a better supply of cartridges in case one brand had a shortage. although if left sealed the carts have a pretty good shelf life.

Please note that selling btc on coinbase into other coins or cash 💵 may create a tax reportable event.

A tax reportable event  may or may not mean you owe tax.

Ie buy 2 coins in dec 2017 for 32000 I sell it for 32000 in Nov 2020.

the transaction is over 20000 it is reportable.

no loss no gain so no tax obligation. but reportable.

note all usa tax law. above. also I am not a tax expert and this is not advice.

yeah i always cash in an extra 20-30% or so and keep it in fiat as this prevents unpleasant surprises if the price tanks; i just stick it in a cd or something. it may leave profits on the table but i have no urge to owe the irs money or have to sell coin at a crappy price. or sell any other assets to cover taxes.
1543  Economy / Speculation / Re: My 'vast' BTC hodl on PayPal on: November 13, 2020, 03:46:18 PM
So, I just read the news. Apparently PayPal has now removed the waiting list and gone live with Bitcoin trading in the US. I actually STILL can't see any changes to my PayPal dashboard, nothing's changed at all, so am I one of the unlucky few whose accounts are deemed unworthy of Bitcoin buying?

Or is this a country issue?

couple weeks ago i checked my paypal account of 10 years of mostly buying, no selling and i keep no money there, its just to pay for things. i too wound up with "you are now on the waiting list." havent checked since that new announcement though. USA here.

I've always thought, that if I retired, I'd probably need to maintain at least double my salary coming in just to pay for all the things I'd need to do to stop me getting bored out of my mind.
That being the case, I'm not going to retire anytime soon, even if MoonTM.

my retirement goal required three times what i figured was the "normal" amount i needed. took longer but i do like huge safety margins.

and boredom? i have never been bored in my entire life. i have far too many interests and hobbies. i love learning and trying new things (and have the scars and broken bones to attest to that).

ive never understand how someone can get bored.

So what exactly happened to friedcat? Did he really get away with stealing so much money from us?

lots pf (perhaps mis) imformation abound. some say the mob got to him and took the miners (or money). others says (i think) death or harm treats. also there is rumor he is alive and well at another company.

theyre are likely a thousand posts in various thread here so it would be a long slog through them. and who knows how accurate they are.

Today was a good day Smiley

Rick is officially planning his exit/retirement tonight Smiley

Please let us know the form of Rick’s retirement announcement.

please do. will it be a "sod off" announcement and split immediately or will he give the traditional two weeks notice (or whatever). personally i gave a few weeks just to ensure a smooth transition to my replacement but not that management cared, they are work to rule (whatever its called). they can fire anyone for no reason and people can quit with no notice. im old school though so did the notice.

bitcoin allowed me to retire years early. its  a good ride. stress, working for slave wages, having little say in your life and schedule. all take a major toil.

congrats to you and rick. enjoy!

I think we'll go just a little bit over $16k and stay there for a short time, before going back under $16k.

But then we won't stay in the $15xxx land for long either. Maybe a day, maybe less.

Then we'll go into $16k for good.

remember when 16k was a big deal? now its just "meh"

Update:

Life tells me it's Tuesday.

Body feels like it's Saturday.

feelsgoodman.gif

youre still typing ok. hasnt kicked in yet?

0,8mg won't kick in more like that.
But it's still enhancing normality. It's a nice, safe use of psychedelics.
Like a nip or two of a good wine, in contrast to emptying the glass at once  Wink

thanks. not up speed on that dosage stuff, been a lot of years since my lsd/mescalin days. back then it was just hits of lsd or tabs of mesc. no idea what the potency was, we just found out through the grapevine stuff like 3 hits or 2 tabs etc for a good trip.

lsd:  4 out of 5 stars, would recommend. although not sure how the 2020 vintage lsd trips would be

just the 3080 has had a lot of complaints so far as they have the inferior cap pattern.

a mixed pattern of round and rectangle caps seems to be good.

gigabyte is all of one cap (can't remember if all round or all rectangle)

this causes the hash rate to fade  from 95-100 to 75-80 over an hour or two of mining

caps? as in capacitors?

if so, seems an odd thing for caps to affect hash rate.

What do you think of the idea of the RED STRIKE against the BIG STEAL?

with all the unemployed people desperate for work? looks like a good way to give your job away.
1555  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How will Trump leave the White House? on: November 09, 2020, 02:12:53 PM
Isn't it official that Biden won the election?

nope

the states need to certify the count which is still in process and trump is suing everything in site to disqualify as many votes as he can. then electors selected. then on dec 14 the electors (usually but not always) officially cast that state votes for the candidate.

lookup "faithless electors"

That looks like the true form for industrial grade mining.

I wonder if Canaan and MicroBT will also come up with the same format.

remember a few years back when there was talk about reusable cases with built in fans/psu/controller with some sort of backplane you could just swap boards out for newer ones? it never really took off iirc. but now its grown up it seems. if the rack has all plug and play cooling and power, the backplane now is the rack and the bare miners are swapped out to upgrade.

On the subject of Sean Connery/007, have you heard that the next James Bond will be a black woman, Lashana Lynch?
She sees it as "challenging stereotypes" and "is greatful to challenge these narratives". We are moving away from a poisoning masculinity, she says to Harper's Bazaar.

Don't they realize that James Bond is so popular because he is a stereotype?
Remove the stereotype and there is no James Bond. This is going to end up a disaster, go woke, go broke.

yeah i dont get it. its the character thats the pull. doesnt matter if its stereotyped.. in fact thats almost the main requirement.

dr who pulled the same stunt (formally all males in lead role, now a female) and it turned to utter trash.

Voted for "Something else"... The way 2020 has been going I'm betting on an alien abduction.

they would just give him back.
1559  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 07, 2020, 10:26:44 PM
....

If Biden is the president elect,....

Um.... I do believe he is...
(I know, I know.... voter fraud bla bla bla.  Remember when Al Gore lost presidency by like 270 votes in Florida?  He gracefully conceded after courts shut down recounts.
gotta wonder if potus will do same when losing by... oh idk, a few thousand in 3 states?)

You can believe whatever you want, but he isn't the president elect. He hasn't been certified the winner of any states yet. And since you're bringing up Al Gore, remember that the media prematurely declared him president elect in 2000 as well.

after the states sort it out, dec 14 is when the electors vote (i think). so its not official till then. thats IF they vote the way they were instructed.

According to ABC, Biden got Pennsylvania, so game over. 273 vs 214.

Of course Trump will do the American thing to do: Sue  Cheesy

looks like most news outlets have agreed.

well except for fox; it has reserved its call.

edit: fox news has now called it for biden.
