Ok challenge for y’all.

Which cars will appeal to Gen X and Millennials and sky rocket in price over the next 20 years?
Most of the new generations are going to want to play xbox on the vehicles infotainment screens as a fully autonomous autopilot navigates them thru the cities imo.

Someone put it in simple terms: In very near future driving a car will soon be like riding a horse, recreational activity that very few will indulge but not on the public roads.

Will it be in 20 years or a bit more, like 25 or 30+ years - is the real question, but I do not expect to drive forever.

not sure any current cars will have any super value increase because cars dont mean as much now. back in the 60s and 70s cars were a right of passage. without one you were nothing. and chevelles, cudas, mustangs types were among the last of the greats. so lots of hunger among the older gen that missed out back then.

today the right of passage is the latest iThing.

on a personal note, ive kinda wanted a viper and a hellcat. just to scare the shit outta me. my reflexes arent what they used to be. but i cant see them as proper investments.  and supercars really dont interest me. im a 4wd kinda guy now.

TLDR: im clueless

Structuring is the practice of conducting financial transactions in a specific pattern calculated to avoid the creation of certain records and reports required by the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and/or IRC 6050I, Returns relating to cash received in trade or business, etc. (Form 8300, Report of Cash Payments Over $10,000 Received in a Trade or Business)
https://www.irs.gov/irm/part4/irm_04-026-013

It's also related to smurfing: explanation

in crypto universe, some innocuous action could look suspicious. For example, if your withdrawal limit is $7000 (just some random number below $10K), but you want to withdraw 35K, you would have to break that 35K in several pieces, which looks like structuring or smurfing, but in fact it is just an innocent person trying to withdraw a chunk that is much bigger than his limit.

yeah thats why i try to do minimum 10k withdrawals, if im gonna raise a flag it might as well be nice and bright. so i do try to plan ahead. of course i do take smaller bits off the top here and there for toys or whatever but i figure as long as i do 10k+ enough to show im not trying to hide i dont worry about it.

coinbase raised my daily limit several times without me asking, im not sure its related to the amounts ive cashed out, the balance that i keep there or something they just do every couple years.

obligatory not your keys etc

as one may of noticed im lazy af

Sure there are many shades of grey, but somehow when given an option, coinbase consistently tries to side with the anti bitcoin camp. Laziness might work out for you, but not a good reason to actively recommend it to others.

i didnt recommend it in my original reply, i just pointed out the pros and cons as ive used it a long time with no issues.

now in real life i have mentioned coinbase to some people who expressed an interest in bitcoin. the sole reason is its legit (of course others are too), very simple and i use it so i know it. once i get gemini up and running ill likely recommend that. but not till i actually use it myself.

I thought you had to goto your bank when they closed your account?

Damn my memory I wonder who that was now.

nope never had any issue with coinbase and had one phone call from the bank.

JJG had coinbase close his account and had to sort stuff out with them. i thought someone else too.

and memory... whats that? i cant even remember where my bong is.

edit: although i think JJG mentioned he thought he and i were the same person, or something along those lines. so theres that

edit 2 yes JJG  had some issues at coinbase
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg55711222#msg55711222

and you merited the post too lol. so.. wheres your bong?   Grin

I'm worried about my local banks more actually. As a transation of ~$10k USD/EUR raises a huge red flag for almost any bank. Get ready for the questions they're going to ask. Although I have heard that UK banks are somewhat more tolerant (or simply have higher red flag limits?).

10k USD definitely raises flags at banks in the USA. so i actually try to keep withdrawals to exactly 10k or more. i dont want to be accused of trying to slide under that.. forget what the term is (laddering? but that doesnt sound right) but its a red flag thing for sure.

and my bank never blinked an eye at my amounts for years. i did get a call from my banks due diligence dept in the last few months asking what i used coinbase for and if i sent anything from coinbase out of the country (investment and no were the answers).

It's one thing to play by the rules and report to IRS which is required, but it's a different ball game to actively sell tracking software to governments, why are you funding this again?

Use gemini at least the Winterfloss twins are pro bitcoin

im still there simply because of how long ive used it (in 2013 there wasnt much to choose from that was legit in the eyes of the land of the free) and ive run life changing amounts through them with zero issues. only exchange i havent had issues with tbh and ive used a few.

them buying up that spy software company that got that guy killed still pisses me off of course. "they didnt know" yeah bullshit. "firing" some people certainly wasnt enough and we now know with absolute certainty what their true colors are.

i always expected coinbase to rat out everyone at some point so when i happened it didnt really matter much (to me). id been paying taxes on corn long before they pulled that 1099 crap.

anyway poor excuse i know but there it is. at some point i wouldnt at all be surprised to see gemini have a few skeletons fall out of their closet. hopefully they keep the high road.

i did make an account at gemini a few years ago but when they wanted a wire transfer to initially set it up.. i wasnt gonna drive 20 minutes to the bank when i already had a working exchange that i knew worked fine, warts and all.

eventually ill finish setting up gemini (need to contact support as the 2fa i have on record doesnt work any more). looking forward to more kyc and hoops to jump through. yay

as one may of noticed im lazy af

1492  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 29, 2020, 01:48:49 AM
Any advice on what exchange to use from the USA?  Asking for a backwards, techless  Ozark hick  Tongue  funding/withdrawal options other than wire transfer?  I thought Kraken would be good, but apparently its easier to use from the North Pole than from within US.

no advice per se but ill give a quick rundown on coinbase as ive used it since 2013 or so. be aware it gets a lot of hate for reasons but it works.

cons:

KYC to the max
they will track the shit outta you.
cant send or receive from any gambling site (pretty sure).
will sell all info they can get on you and your corn to whoever wants it.
site always seems to have "issues" when things get hot and interesting.
thoughtfully sends the IRS a 1099 form in case you forget

pros:

takes yubikey as 2fa
whitelisted withdrawal addys
a vault that time delays coins moving (optional)
links to bank account, and i think debit cards but not sure on that never used debit card there

1493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning by Coinbase of Treasury Rule Change for KYC All Addresses. Poll! :) on: November 28, 2020, 05:30:07 PM
using coinbase as an example as i use it.

im kyc'd to the hilt there. they can analyze where my coins come from and go with their chain analysis division anyway.

a lot of my coins came from old mining pools in 2011 on, some of which dont exist anymore (dwarfpool, btcguild etc). now, i have signed messages from those pool payout addys saying who i am and what equipment i mined them with filed away and still control those addresses. i also still have (most) of my old swept paper wallets so can sign them too, but who on this planet has kept EVERY address they have controlled and can still sign messages saying it was yours to prove chain of ownership?

and coins on mycelium, old armory wallets etc. i cant see how one can prove old coins are legit theirs from pools or now defunct exchanges (mtgox etc) if they dont have the keys to those addys anymore.

also, pretty sure i cant sign my trezor segwit addys.

cant see how this would work.

the biggest thing is that if the usa tried this, most usa companies and citizens drop it (or go dark) and when the rest of the civilized nations adopt bitcoin the usa will be left far, far behind.

By the way, with in the past day or so, I also incorporated "vapourminer lols" within my BTC sale orders in around similar price arenas that he had outlined.. largely in a symbiotic kind of a spirit of the idea... (I hate to be such a non-original copy cat... but it seemed to be just too good of an oportunidad to pass up) ... Perhaps, I will wait until after such passenings to disclose more particulars to the extent that such lols are worth mentioning and presuming that at some point in the near future (aka soontm) BTC price movements "force" those wannabe lols to play out.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

my sense of humor has been branded "odd" on more than one occasion. fun is where you find it.

im forced to admit my ladders are setup somewhat like yours, i set them up and then its hands off for the most part. plan the sequence best you can and then relax, the emotions can now stay out of it. when occasions warrant it i go readjust stuff. luckily i had done this like a week or two ago and fine tuned the 16k-20k range and the sells then buybacks pretty much happened all while i slept. sold at 17.5k - 18.5k or so and bought it back around 16.2 - 16.7 all preset up. almost took the fun out of it.

my lowest "real" (as opposed to a "lulz") active buy order is at like 1k lol. dunno how long thats ones been there. think ill cancel that one and move it up  a bit heh.. that leaves 8kish is my lowest. which isnt low enough really imo. never know what honeybadger might think up. 6k sounds nice as a low.

gotta keep some lulz amounts lower (and higher) of course.

Did they touch it already? Last time humans did, they learned how to craft and use tools ... If they find another one of these monoliths on the moon, they might wanna start a mission to Jupiter very soon Grin

but now, just looking at it, i can now tie awesome knots i never knew existed.

I don't think a lot of people are intentionally using DCA. It's just that their regular pay comes every 2 weeks, or twice a month, and setting aside a fixed amount just to invest is very similar to DCA, but they buy the whole thing on schedule without emotion. As much as they can afford anyway.

So it looks like DCA, but probably not really DCA by choice but by circumstance. Otherwise, they'd probably buy as much coin as they can on the dips. (or whenever they buy.)

we miners are basically DCAing by default.

we buy dips too heh

i generally do a quick rinse with distilled water or 90% iso after the dishwasher (doesnt take much). then air dry in front of a fan for like a week. im generally not in a hurry.

cant you just run them through a dishwasher? ive run countless keyboards and motherboards through standard dishwashers. gpus too but i remove the hsf of course.
