2381  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Trump Impeachment Poll: Who's Fault Is It? on: November 01, 2019, 12:20:16 AM
The Senate will laugh at them, of course.
They'll do what all of them on both sides do. If the polls turn against them, they'll impeach him.

I'm not going to agree with, disagree with, or even consider that type of comment worthy of responding to.
2382  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Trump Impeachment Poll: Who's Fault Is It? on: October 31, 2019, 10:25:18 PM
The fact is the impeachment proceeding is underway, regardless of how any of us feel about it.

Playing armchair constitutional lawyer doesn't change its legitimacy, or the fact that it is happening.

That's correct. The Democrats can have a vote, and impeach Trump for stepping on a bug if they want to.

The Senate will laugh at them, of course.

...
Those big countries are also the main polluters. They contributed more CO2 and the smaller nations, and these smaller nations are the victims here because they suffer more of these calamities. Climate change is real and right now, several locations around the world are  burning, some are flooding heavily, super typhoon are common nowadays  and earthquake are everywhere and  recently in Philippines. I think these are all connected and a collective effort globally  should be made in order to minimize these calamities. We have still time.
Nonsense.

Typhoons, wildfires, floods and earthquakes have been around forever.
2384  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Trump Impeachment Poll: Who's Fault Is It? on: October 31, 2019, 02:14:08 AM
You know how the Democrats bitch and whine when the Rupublicans do something with a Majority without giving a shit about what the Democrats think?  (Merrick Garland for example.)

That's what you guys sound like right now.

Don't worry, you'll get to hear them bitching again as soon as the impeachment ball is in the Senates court.

This isn't just "something", this is an attempt to unseat a sitting duly elected president. I believe you understand the gravity of this and are simply being disingenuous ....

It does look that way. The thing is, these guys have publicly advocated impeaching Trump since the very first day he was in office, and they really didn't care if there were or were not valid reasons for doing so. And they've been upfront about it, not hiding it at all.
2385  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Trump Impeachment Poll: Who's Fault Is It? on: October 31, 2019, 12:37:49 AM

Well now that's a crock of shit.

Your side can call witnesses in its defense, but they must be approved by your adversary.

Stalinist methods.

It matters not how much they undermine the rule of law and due process, control must be taken at all costs.

On the contrary, after Scalia passed away and left a vacancy on the SC, the ever-diplomatic, gracious Republicans cited the "Biden Rule" in deferring the discussion about the SC vacancy:

The Senate's Republican leadership was quick to assert that the vacancy should not be filled until after the 2016 presidential election.[13] They cited a 1992 speech by then-senator Joe Biden, in which Biden argued that President Bush should wait until after the election to appoint a replacement if a Supreme Court seat became vacant during the summer or should appoint a moderate acceptable to the then-Democratic Senate, as a precedent. Republicans later began to refer to this originally little-noticed idea as the "Biden rule".

If transmission was the most cause of people getting affected to AIDS but how it was emerged,it was not there when humanity emerged right.

I am not believing on what others said but I thin this could also be a reason why its prohibited.

Nope. The reason why Islam is harsh on homosexuality is because Islam wanted to create a cult which had the largest number possible of male babies, because that would give them the largest armies. Eliminating types of sex that do not produce babies is one obvious way to get to that point, but other means are detailed in your "Holy Books."

Rape, taking of slave women, multiple wives by the rich old men. With all the local women taken by the old rich men force the young men to go to other countries and take women.

It is what it is.

+1

It is self-evident that the Quran was written by military men.  Spreading Islam beyond its borders, rules about capturing slaves, strict Sharia Law, no drinking, no music, severe punishment for disobedience, the death penalty for apostasy (treason), etc.

That also explains misogyny as male babies where automatically higher on the pecking order based on their utility value.

You needed men to get/capture/enslave women, to make more men, to get more women.  All to make Allah happy, of course.

It's been argued that much of this is similarly in Judeo-Christian religions, but it's counter argued that Judeo-Christian religions and their cultures have gone past those ideas a long time ago, and Islam is still mired in medieval concepts. I think this is fairly accurate.

In turn a likely reason for that is the fact that Islam is both a political and a religious cult. Each enforces the other. No contra-ideas are tolerated. There is no free speech allowed. So new ideas really don't get discussed, and things remain old, stale, and semi-ridiculous.
2387  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POPULATION on: October 31, 2019, 12:24:10 AM

The question is not if we can fit billions more.

The issue is sustainability, pollution control/cleanup, resource (water/air/land/food/energy) management, etc.

I think when we reach 14-15 Billion we will be close to that peak carrying capacity, maybe sooner.

Do you have any specific reasons why that seems like a good number?

Many think we will be out potable water and food when we reach 10 billion.

We are barely starting with the technology that can take care of, say, 100 billion. DickDuckGo search on "graphene water filtration" as an example.

Cool

100 billion on this planet?  Hmm, I don't see how.
Ultimately, the planet's human population would be limited by the limit on the conversion of available sunlight to food.

.... My point in starting the thread was really just trying to highlight what these companies are doing and how pervasive this culture of selling and buying user data has become, as well as how difficult they make it to opt out of everything (and I'm pretty sure the letter of the law is that users should have to take action to 'opt in' rather than 'opt in' being the default). I posted just to highlight this, and in case anyone was not quite aware of the extent to which these data markets are now embedded. I appreciate the advice though on specific methods to combat this as an individual user, so thanks again.

The first thing to do is to not believe ANYTHING these people say in their "privacy policies."

I don't know what other people believe, but global warming and climate change are real
many events that we feel today that can be used as evidence of global warming
such as Global Temperature Rise, Warming Oceans, Shrinking Ice Sheets, Glacial Retreat,
Decreased Snow Cover, Sea Level Rise, Declining Arctic Sea Ice, Extreme Events, and Ocean Acidification
you can read this https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/

So, THING is real and is proved by, ... THING???

....

I think this conversation got way off-topic.
From the nonsense in the Quran and its homophobia to ways to control the population growth.

I wanted to talk about why people hate (and should hate) Islam, but I was trolled by some of you to homophobia in the animal kingdom, to ways to promote homosexual behaviors, and now you with contraceptives as a solution to the world's population growth. LOL.

Are you sure you are not trolling this thread?

Well it's like this. THEY know the subject of Quran homophobia can't be directly confronted, since THEY will be condemned as the homophobic bigots they are.

So the debate tactics resulting are misdirection, goal shifting, re framing the argument and so forth.
Okay I accept that what is the real intention behind gay and lesbianism is not allowed in Islam but when I tried google it being gay and lesbian might increases the chances of getting AIDS? Is this true?

I would suggest that if you seek to find the truth on a matter such as that, do not look at "Islamic sources." Instead, look at authoritative medical sources, such as WebMD. Generally speaking, AIDS has been transmitted through unprotected sex.
But this is not the only way right? Still people researching on being a gay causes AIDS!

Drug addicts re using needles is another major transmission mode.

Like I said, if you rely on Islamic teachings for information on Aids (or any number of subjects, really) you will be misinformed, period. This is simply because of the huge number of Muslim clerics who although well intentioned, are simply ignorant of medical and scientific facts.

2394  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the Deep State? on: October 30, 2019, 05:22:21 PM
IMO the "deep state" is a cabal of homosexuals, pedophiles, murderers and cannibals placed into positions of power and influence by God's chosen people. It's a blackmail racket.
To join the cabal, must one be simultaneously a homo, pedo, murderer and a cannibal?

I'm not even close...

I feel dirty clicking on ZeroHedge links. ...

Zerohedge does now and then have an interesting scoop.

Zerohedge is not on my scheduled rounds, but I'm not remembering very many times when I've seen fabricated or 'fake news' on the site.  ....
As for basic credibility, I would rate Zerohedge so far above CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc that the latter are not even in sight.  Also the comments are fun and interesting ....

The comment streams are all that matter.

They just made fun of Zuckerberg saying the one who sold private info of its user is now going to make a cryptocoin for financial freedom. Facebook has faced severe cases of Privacy infringement and is surely a bad example of a company to start a global cryptocurrency.

While the US is busy criticizing, scrutinizing the Lobra project China is fast tracking their  blockchain adoption. I think, government is making recommendation and be supportive of projects of course by safeguarding the users here. Its a great help if government, the one using ang utilizing this technology because many will follow here.

China is doing this to effect total, absolute control over their population.

Wake up.

I feel dirty clicking on ZeroHedge links. You do realize there are other "news" sources out there, right? Its quite easy for me to find the Fox News version of a story and post it here just to make conservatives more open to reading it. Can't you find a "lefty" publication like CNN, CBS, NBC or MSM that makes your same point? Oh, you can't? Wonder why that is.

Zerohedge does now and then have an interesting scoop.
2398  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: October 29, 2019, 10:30:38 PM
Global warming is certainly real. The evidence is overwhelming that is real and that we are responsible for it. Yes there are a few deniers - but if you look at who is saying climate change is not real, you'll notice that it is people who have vested interests that they are trying to protect.

Go back a few years, you have the exact same situation with a few people claiming that smoking isn't dangerous - and these people all have interests in the tobacco industry.
It's the same with anything, over and over again throughout history.

Indeed, look at right now, you have the exact same situation with people claiming that we need to buy solar panels and windmills - and those people all have interests in the solar and windmill industries.

It's the same with anything, over and over again throughout history.
2399  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi killed! on: October 29, 2019, 10:28:23 PM
You cannot kill bad ideas by killing people.

You can only kill a bad idea (Islam) with a better idea.

It does matter that this rat has been killed.

Kill religions and these types of problems (ISIS) will go away.

You are a little contradictory because you said that we can't kill an idea and religion is actually also an idea, a spiritual idea, so it can't be killed.

Daniel, I know English is not your first language so please read it again.  In the very second sentence, I said how an idea can be killed.

Killing people will not kill ideas.  That was the point of my post.

Religions will be killed by educating people and giving them the right epistemic tools to identify falsehoods.

I didn't reffer to your words about killing ideas but about killing religion.
Religion you can't kill,  even with education because it's also idea and for people in Muslim world is also their way of life.
They will not change their traditions and way of life because you will give them some education.
They are already brainwashed in their religion and their ideas so they will not change what they believe.

You can kill any idea if you replace it with a better idea.

Why don't you believe in Zeus?
I'm a Thor believer. Which would you prefer, a Zeusium or a Thorium reactor?
