I've submitted two pull requests. One fixes block check for blake2s and X17, the other fixes difficulty reporting on RPC calls (needed for solo mining).
The boss will review them, then publish the updated wallet.
If you guys enjoy my contribution, and want me to continue working on this interesting coin, the BTC address for donations is in my signature :-)

Thanks pallas! sent some btc your way

pallas do you have a XVG account, I am sure many would send you some XVG!  That is what I have to offer as I could send you some of those Smiley

Here is my XVG address:

Thanks!

Cool, just sent some Verge your way!!  Thanks again from the community!! Smiley

Just sent a donation in VERGE to equal an earlier BTC one.
Thanks again for the assistance and for posting an XVG address.

I worried just a little hope my wallet syncs Sad

Do you still have issues? Mine has Sync'd - what is happening with yours? It does take some time to catch up.

Mine was a little "stuck" for a while, until I closed and then reopened the wallet.
It then caught right up to current.  Smiley

Sandan,
Your coins should be fine.
Update your wallet when you can, just be sure to do so prior to using it.
Of course, make sure you have a backup of your wallet.dat somewhere as usual.

Came here looking to ask the same questions as Nubbins.

edit:
Deleted both blk*.dat files, started it back up, and it is now synchronizing.

YAY!

The Blockchain shows that it is all there, in that address.

I switched a few weeks back and haven't had any problems.
I am sure that somebody here will find the correct answers for you.

the Verge Wallet on my imac isn't syncing anymore, 11 days behind. I left it powered on all night, 9 hours and it has synced any block. Any suggestions how to solve this?

Could this be related to the blockchain being temporarily stuck?

edit: I read that as 11 hours, so I guess not.

Question though: Will a wallet still sync when the blockchain is stuck? Does it catch up and just sync up to the last block even though the blockchain isn't growing?
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][Scrypt][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: March 24, 2016, 06:39:51 AM
I don't know if any other currencies are doing this, but "smoothing out" the halving reward schedule might be interesting to consider.
The total amount of coins mined could still hit the on the regular dates/blocks of the original schedule, but on a more gradual decrease.
Newcomers might be more interested in mining, and a gradual decrease may make things smoother in regard to possible jumps in price before/during/after block reward halvening.
I saw another mention something like this for another coin and made me think that others may consider it an option also.
Since we are going for quite a major change with the MultiAlgo, thought I would bring this up.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: March 23, 2016, 01:55:54 AM
I believe once the Multi Algorithm takes place and we have a consistent blockchain moving, we will see some positive changes in price and functionality.

Just a little reminder of how importance diligence can be in regard to security and privacy.

Looks like they are trying to sneak it in.

so,...

from what i gather now... that it wouldnt really help the scrypt mining part.    it would still get stuck, leaving me and others only on scrypt dead ?

it might be good for the overall coin.. but doesnt solve the problem.  just... a bypass.

guess i should have read more up on it before voting.

You won't do any worse or better than you already are. It just depends on the difficulty. But based on what I've read multi-algo will prevent the blockchain from stopping when the big farms hit it because all the miners on the other algo's will keep confirming transactions.

A healthier blockchain may also make your coins more valuable as you mine them.

Hey Folks,
I am looking for an ELI5 step by step explanation on how to use the Verge wallet's console to import a paper wallet's private key.
Thanks in advance.

I've never done it for VERGE but I assume it's like all the other qt wallets.

Open console
enter importprivkey <enterkeyhere>

Yes it worked......was having some trouble with typos.

Thank you.

Just did.
Thanks for the reminder.
One of the easiest, quickest wallet updates I can recall.

I think it would be a good thing to get at least a second dev on board. Not to jinx anything, but what if – god forbid – something happens to vergeDEV or he is temporarily unavailable/on vacation/whatever?

Just my opinion.

No.

Dev has been working their ass off on this coin for a few years no or so. If you are just finding out about it go back and read the previous and original thread.

They are accomplishing what their objective is.

Maybe one day or currently working behind the scene with some one else but for now don't go messing with something that is not broke.

I have seen in the past, way past, where this dev had helped a coin through some issues. Don't remember the coin now because it does not exist any longer.

It is a shame it took so long for people to see this coin and what the dev is capable of. The name switch was a very good idea that took a little too long to happen but I can't complain about that because it allowed me to build more up.

For all we know, there could be a second dev, or a small team of people working behind the scenes.

It has always appeared to be "amazing crazy" what this guy can do in such short time periods while I have been watching this currency grow.

Hard to believe that he is solo.

What I think ttookk is saying is that if anything made DogeDarkDev/VergeDev unavailable, this place could become a mess.

I like the idea of a few more devs/help aboard.

That guy at least needs/deserves a vacation!
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: March 10, 2016, 06:13:30 PM
The primary target of the first bus-stop campaign is to create awareness of the brand Auroracoin. The more info on that poster, the more distraction people get from the brand itself. So the first run will be just the logo and the name (perhaps a small www.auroracoin.is in the bottom right corner).

After the first campaign there will follow a lot of media attention on the release of the exchange. During that campaign we will start another run with the slogan that will be something similar to "Empowering Financial Freedom". There will perhaps also be a QR code on it that links to our site.

These posters are there to envision the brand and to support other media campaigns, they are not there to sell the whole story in one single blow.

This is where local knowledge and understanding of the marketing plan can come into play.

Awesome work going on!
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: March 10, 2016, 04:58:31 PM
No one is telling anyone here to back off. We just like you guys to respect the fact that all members of our team share the same clear vision as to why we dedicate our time and efforts to this project.

I can understand perfectly well there are some of you that are here for speculation and profit. Nothing wrong with that. Perhaps you can also understand that the foundation under your future profits lies not in hypes and pumps, but rather in real development of a strong user base in Iceland. So perhaps I can ask you kindly once more to have speculation discussions in the post Molecular was so kind to setup? You can find it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1067036.0

We as a team have chosen to invest in the long term. That means we are going to build on real acceptance of Auroracoin in Iceland. For this we have been building a strong foundation. This exists not only of the new multi-algo code, but also in the AUR-ISK exchange we have build (beta.ix.is).

Currently we are working on a detailed marketing plan that involves real commercials in Iceland. We are (rather soon) going to start a campaign with huge posters in all 100 bus terminals around Reykjavik, which will look like this:

The terminals have over 5 million driveby's a week! This means that in one week most people have become familiar with our logo and name. It also makes Auroracoin something that is real. Once we start unfolding our releases to the press people in Iceland are going to say "Hey, I saw that at the busstop before" Rather then "Hmmm, some internet thing from a couple of nerds".

The board members of the foundation are visiting our Dutch team on the 24th - 27th of march to work dedicated on future marketing plans. We expect a lot of local media coverage and are especially excited to announce the launch of the ISX exchange. This will be the first time since the currency controls came in effect that people of Iceland have direct access to a cryptocurrency with ISK.

And there is one very big thing in the making that will probably get over 100K Icelanders actively using AUR within this year. All of this from within Iceland and together with businesses that have chosen to partner up with us!

I would suggest we ''rework'' the design a bit, but anyway I do like the idea a lot.  So few days before to open the exchange and few before the press release in and out iceland - this will attract people curiosity - and encourage convos about AUR.  April 27-28 ?  My understanding is there was not many avalaible week.

Just chiming in to say that I love the idea of the bus stop advertising.

With people waiting around for their ride, looking up AUR would almost be second nature.

The straightforward simplicity of the design is nice, which will give drivers on the roads, and those from a distance, some image impact also.

I understand that this is a "rough", and believe that since this is local and focused, those involved will know what works best, but wanted to point out that some kind of blurb that explains really quickly what AUR is could be a good idea to include, such as "Currency Empowering Financial Freedom", along with some finer print (for those up close) explaining how this will benefit the user, and of course a QR code, linking to an appropriate website.

Excited to see what is happening!
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AUR] Auroracoin market observer on: March 08, 2016, 07:00:44 PM
I am interested to see what happens when the new wallet and algorithms take place.

edit: not just for the hype, but for the functionality and increased decentralization it may provide.

I believe that it will make a more stable, "better" coin, therefore increasing it's value.

259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New NeoScrypt Algorithm on: March 05, 2016, 06:15:59 AM
I had fun mining with my CPU, using the wallet a while back.
Actually got a couple blocks.
Still using TheBlocksFactory though and my GPU.
I really like the sound of it's fan running in the background, knowing that I am doing something.

doge build the community with their faucet to spread the words

i think we need to do it

in this case we need partisipations and donations from all community
The reason DOGE used the faucet was because they had 100,000,000,000 coin supply.
Giving them away for free was the only way to get people interested. Roll Eyes

We actually have a great Dev and awesome features, people will line up to buy VERGE once they learn of it's Ability.

When VERGE was DOGED it had a maximum volume of 3.0 BTC per day rarely and quite often 0.5 BTC per day.
But the Dev kept working his ass off, and the community kept growing.
Now VERGE has 5 x the price and 5 x the Volume. So i would say people are starting to notice VERGE
This is a strong community that raised 1.5 BTC in 9 hours for ticker change at Bittrex.
Patience is the key my friend. good things come to those who wait, But great things come those with real patience. Wink

A faucet or two probably wouldn't hurt, to go along with Verge's organic growth.

I believe that there was a Digital Trip game a while back that more or less acted like one.
