241  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic problem, why is fiat difficult to hold. on: June 24, 2023, 07:42:41 AM
By hold if you mean why can't we "hold" it like bitcoin, it is because of inflation. The value of fiat money depreciates overtime. If you keeping holding your fiat money, after few years, your money will worth less. You would be spending more money to buy the same amount of stuffs that you could have bought few months ago. Hence, it is difficult to hold fiat currency. Better to invest it somewhere to beat the inflation. But by holding I am guessing you mean keep it with you and "not" spend it. Like how people hold bitcoin. More like be avoid yourself from  making unnecessary spending. Well, that is totally a different thing and its a "personal" thing. Depends more on your spending habit. You need to change that to hold your fiat.
242  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take advantage of the price fall. on: June 24, 2023, 05:48:23 AM
Obviously if anyone can afford, they should take advantage of the price drop. Think of it as a discount. When the price falls, invest as much as you can, and if the price goes further down, invest more. This way, you will be maximizing your profit when the price of the coins starts to recover. But you need to make sure you are investing in the right coin. As long as you are investing in good coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and other well known altcoins (I would still recommend only bitcoin), the chances are the price will go up. Alsoyeah, only invest what you are willing to lose. Money that you won't be needing in next few years.
243  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which are best stake alternatives on: June 24, 2023, 05:19:35 AM
If you are looking for "original games" (by original games, I am guessing you mean in house games, right?), then you can try CryptoGames if you haven't. You will find dice, roulette, Video poker, Plinko, Keno and other games which are all CryptoGames "original". No third parties involved and all games are provably fair. They do have a VIP program too, so you will get rewarded for playing at that casino. Look at the reviews and the ANN thread here before you decided. They have been around for quite a long time, so trust won't be an issue.

I Want to Trade My House for Some Bitcoins - An Innovative Idea or Unnecessary Risk?

Hello, Bitcointalk community!

Today, I bring an intriguing proposal for all of you: I am considering trading my house for some bitcoins. Yes, you read that correctly! I am exploring an innovative idea that challenges the traditional methods of real estate trading. But is this proposal a can't-miss opportunity or an unnecessary risk?

The idea is simple: instead of selling my house for traditional cash, I am interested in receiving bitcoins as payment. After all, cryptocurrencies have been gaining prominence in the financial world, and many believe that their value will only increase. Could this be the perfect opportunity to diversify my portfolio and benefit from the growth potential of digital currencies?

However, when considering this innovative approach, it is also important to evaluate the risks involved. After all, we are talking about a P2P transaction, without the presence of traditional intermediaries such as real estate brokers and lawyers. This means that trust between the parties is essential to ensure a successful negotiation.

Another point to consider is the volatility of the cryptocurrency market. The value of bitcoin can fluctuate significantly over short periods of time, which can affect the value of the property involved in the transaction. This volatility can bring additional uncertainty and challenges for both parties involved.

I want to open up space for discussion and exchange of ideas. What do you think about this proposal to exchange a house for bitcoins? Do you see significant opportunities or risks? What precautions do you suggest to minimize possible problems? Please share your opinions and experiences, as it is through dialogue that we can explore all perspectives of this approach.

Let's debate and find out whether this is a revolutionary idea or just a risky venture. I look forward to hearing your opinions!

Changing the title because of the responses is not being focused on in the text.
I Want to Trade My House for Some Bitcoins.

"Would there be any altcoins with an ecosystem or some intermediary that makes the documents with digital signatures that can guarantee for both parties?"

I would say it is an unnecessary risk. Why would you sell your house for something that is extremely volatile. Who knows when you will be able to afford a house again. You might sell your house, invest in bitcoin and then the next thing you will see is the pricing of the housing went up and that of bitcoin went down. What will you do then? Keep on holding and wait for the price of bitcoin to recover? You still won't be able to recover, because next you will have to wait for the price of the house to crash which is very unlikely. Just invest what you can afford to lose and the money that you don't need.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: June 24, 2023, 05:09:35 AM
I've seen Bitcoin ATMs only in videos from friends that are living in foreign countries, not in person but I would love to give it a try someday, I think the transaction fee will be the same just as when you are sending Bitcoin from your crypto wallet, unless there are some extra charges that I don't know about.

The Bitcoin transaction fee presently is looking good enough and you can get away with a cheaper feel depending on the time of operation because for example I sent Bitcoin to exchange yesterday using $0.80 and today it's $0.56 so you see that it's always lower and higher too.

It is unlikely that all countries will have Bitcoin ATMs as Bitcoin is not yet legalized globally, something that may never happen in the future, maybe we will have a Satoshi island or nation where Bitcoin is the sole currency someday, that will be good for tourism where crypto lovers and adopters will love to visit, how crazy is this?
You are going to be surprised when you will be seeing the fee lol. The exchange rate is the worst you can find. You have to pay exchange fee and then the "operator" fee. So all together you will be spending extra 5%-10%(in extreme cases) in fees. People use to still use it before because, you didn't have to verify yourself and you could instantly withdraw cash up to certain amount each day without providing any identity. But eventually, all ATMs started to ask for IDs and stuffs, so I don't know why anyone would want to use one, unless it is extreme emergency for them to have cash.
246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: June 23, 2023, 07:54:54 AM
As a morally upright person that does not like to cheat people, but gambles and has lost a lot of money to gambling in a casino where you have sometimes been cheated even without your knowledge or betting on sports, will you take an opportunity you get and go against your moral standards to cheat a casino or sportsbetting place, just so you can win big at least even once.

Will you try a trick to win on casino game machines if you were told and it is a 100% working trick to cash out? Will you bet on fixed games if you get the tip early?
You mean abusing a bug in a casino? Very likely you will get caught and all your funds confiscated. So not worth the risk. But yeah, there might be people that would abuse the bug and cheat the casino. But they don't realize that if they report the bug, and if the bug is a high level bug, then the casino will most likely pay him some good amount of bounty money. More than actually he could steal from the casino. And no is going to "tell you the trick" if they find it. They would keep it a secret.
247  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why do you still want to play fake web2 casinos? Why we choose web3 casinos on: June 23, 2023, 05:22:24 AM
Why would any one want to play on a new "web3" casino that no one knows about when there are already "web2" casinos (by which I guess you mean the centralized crypto casinos?) that has very good reputation, has been doing well, rewarding their users, solving all their issues they face? Why would someone want to risk their funds in something very new? Yeah, the "web3" casinos might be decentralized, but there are still ways were the "decentralization" might be compromised by the developers. And regulatory issues also exists. Gambling in a centralized casino seems more reliable and better to me in terms of support, legal issues and other general stuffs.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between pi and bitcoin on: June 23, 2023, 05:17:51 AM
Hello guys,I learnt that pi network is a crytocurrency that is beneficial in the community ecosystem that you can mine with,I want to know their clarified differences and if the pi network and bBTC does same functions.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that PI and bitcoin is the same thing because they do the same function. What function does PI has? As far as I know PI doesn't even have a working main network. Its still on testing phase. How come something that doesn't even have a functionable network be the same as Bitcoin? Based on some texts on papers? In that case there are many coins that mimic bitcoin in their whitepaper. As far as I know, you need to complete KYC to use PI. So it isn't centralized and someone can control the network. So its not bitcoin.

Oh, if PI has the same function as bitcoin, isn't PI another shitcoin that has no real use case?
249  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin high transaction fees is a disadvantage to small business owners on: June 23, 2023, 02:58:59 AM
It's not high at all right now. Like just few cents and even less if you can wait for a while for the network confirmations. Yeah, I won't deny that the fees are high when the network is congested and it is something that we have to deal with, but I am sure, in the future, we will come up with some solution to these issues without compromising decentralization or security of the network. Also, you can use altcoins that have very low fees and very fast network confirmation. There are some good altcoins out there which might be helpful for "small business owners".
250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Met Beautiful Young Asian Woman On Dating Site To Teach Me Trading on: June 23, 2023, 02:24:03 AM
Wouldn't be surprised if she ends up scamming you. I mean, who uses a "dating" site to learn or teach someone how to trade. Likely she is faking those trade. Once she gains your trust (like she did), she will end up asking money from you to trade on your "behalf". She might give you some good returns early so that you trust her even more. Then once you go all in with the money, most likely she will start making excuse, ask for more money and then takes all your money and leaves. And also I wouldn't be surprised if that "beautiful" woman is a man.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do gambling addicts bother about the consequences of their actions? on: June 23, 2023, 02:09:36 AM
Gambling if not checked cam lead to a devastating condition for a gambler's life. As a gambler when you allow yourself to be controlled by gambling instinct instead of having control over it, it repercussions doesn't particularly affects only you but goes beyond just you to those around you.

A woman was giving an account of how her gambling husband has been problematic to her with his gambling attitude. She gave an instance of how her husband had to steal her jewelry and sold it to get money to carry on his gambling enterprise. And unsuspecting of her husband the woman accused their come-and-go house-cleaner of making away with her jewelry when the cleaner must have come to the house for her cleaning services that very faithful day. She got the cleaner arrested, but then, investigations where carried out which it was uncovered that the woman's husband was the one who stole her jewelry for gambling and not the cleaner.

It is difficult to grasp or imagined the level of humiliation the innocent cleaner must have faced for an act she knows nothing about.

A question that bothers me concerning this issue is;
1. Do gambling addicts ever take a second thought on what the consequences of their actions can be not just to them but on those close to them?
2. Do they in reality genuinely feel any remorse about  how those affected by their actions might be feeling?
3. Or, are they a dispassionate victim of their own uncontrollable addictive gambling lifestyle?
This is how a gambling addict starts to harm people around them. They start to lie and steal from people that are close to them.

1. Yes they do, but in the end, it is the addiction that wins. They think that "it won't hurt if they don't know". They end up thinking that they will win and will be able to return what they stole (or doesn't even bother to and use it to fund his future gambling activities).

2. Maybe, maybe not. But most of them does live in guilt (hence there are people that puts an end to their own life).

3. Some are yes. They would take as much advantage they can. Sometimes they even use tactics such as manipulating someone to fund their activities.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If I have $40,000 to invest in one #cryptocurrency. on: June 23, 2023, 02:02:58 AM
The best thing to do is do your own research and choose that "one" currency that you think is best to invest in. If you ask people which coin to invest, they will highly likely shill for coins that they have invested in. Even if its a shit coin, they will say that it is the best and make you invest in those coin. They don't care if you lose the money, after all the $40,000 doesn't belong to them and it won't hurt them if you lose your money. But I would suggest you one thing. Don't pull all your money in one coin. If you still insist to do so, then bitcoin is what I would suggest.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New question for experts on: June 22, 2023, 07:25:32 AM
I think it is actually worth joining those conferences and events if you are very much interested in blockchain and crypto currencies. Attending those events can actually help you move forward with your blockchain 'interest". Events like those usually invites lots of new and also well known project developers. This would be your best chance to learn about what currently is going on with projects, new/future development, and what to expect from them. In the process I am sure you will be learning something new from the experts and leaders, which can deepen your understanding on blockchain. Plus, you get the opportunity to network with like-minded people and might end up creating something yourself! If you aren't busy or have anything important to do, then why not attend it?
254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: June 22, 2023, 07:07:34 AM
Many people find it difficult to accept who they are and the bad habits that they have, accepting a habit is the first step that will determine if any help offered to you will work. As a gambler, will you find it offensive if you are referred to as a gambling addict? will you easily accept it or try to give excuses like some other people do, saying that they are not addicted to gambling when the signs are clearly there. Do you think identifying as an addicted gambler will make people stereotype you. The answer is different for every gambler here.
Of course calling someone a gambling addict is offensive if that person isn't one. You can't assume someone is an addict just because he gambles.  Talk to them about your concern and see how they reply to you. It is always more helpful to talk than blindly accuse someone of being an addict and offending them. If the person doesn't realize he is an addict, it won't help calling him addict. He will only deny it. Instead, try to help them step by step. Make them realize that they are causing damage to themselves and people near them. Once they realize it, they will start improving themselves. The first step in recovery is self-realization.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to fight with FUD about Bitcoin on: June 17, 2023, 05:11:24 PM
Some people just talk bullshit without understanding anything just for some attention. Maybe that "professor" you are talking about is one of those persons. If you can't reach to him, why not take it public and challenge his claims? If he is a well known professor, he will feel pressured to respond to you because of his reputation. Maybe write a column or an article and get it published? Quote whatever he says and refute and show why he is wrong using facts and other well known resources. This will also help you create awareness among other people too, while making people doubt about the claims that the "professor" makes.
256  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your honest review of the Demo account? on: June 17, 2023, 05:05:14 PM
Those demo accounts are there to simulate a trade. It helps you try different strategies and learn more about the market without having you to risk anything. Also those demo account helps you learn about the platform and how to use the different features offered by the platform. Once you get used to the platform and start feeling comfortable there, trading becomes a lot easier for that person. But yeah, since people don't actually risk any money, they "don't" actually care how they trade. They use risky strategies without thinking twice. They wouldn't be performing the same if they used actual money. And you get "real" experience once you start risking real money.
257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We the Bitcoin Enthusiasts, How can we Safequard our Holdings in Turbulent Times on: June 17, 2023, 05:01:09 PM
How might the closure of a prominent cryptocurrency exchange like Binance affect investors confidence in the broader crypto market, and what steps do you think enthusiasts can take to safeguard their investments in such situations? Please share tips.

I'm thinking about closing my key positions for the time being.
Safeguard from what? From those centralized exchanges and wallets? You weren't supposed to hold and store your coins over there in the first place. Holding and storing your coins in those exchanges means you are no longer the owner of the coins. You gave it to those centralized financial institution, and they never actually promise you to give you back your money when you ask for it. You just trust that they will give it back to you. You don't even know what they do with your coins. The only way to keep your coins is by holding it in your own wallets where you own the keys.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like Meme Coins (Pepes project)? on: June 17, 2023, 04:37:01 PM
They should neve exist. They make few people rich and a lot of others end up going broke because of those meme coins. Thousands of meme coins out there and see how many people get scammed every day. They are just like a pest in the crypto market. People end up losing money investing in those meme coins, and then later they start thinking that the whole crypto market is a scam. And the mainstream media loves to use these news to spread negativity and "attract" the naysayers of the crypto industry.
Look like you are try to promote another "scam" coin that uses the hype of the current meme coin.
259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: June 17, 2023, 04:33:56 PM
I don't understand how some people see gambling as a potential income source. How could someone rely on gambling, when gambling itself is filled with randomness and uncertainty. Its like you being able to pay the bills also becomes an uncertainty in your life. Relying on it as a primary income source is highly risky and unstable, unless you are working as an affiliate and you refer others to gamble. You earn comission from that, and it might be good source of income for you, but still there is no guarantee that you will be earning forever. People should stop considering gambling as a job through which they can earn money and should see it as a form of "paid" entertainment.
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without money, the knowledge is a waste on: June 17, 2023, 04:08:12 PM
Yes!
you got the topic very correct and I do mean it because after my last thread, I was actually wondering  the essences of having all the knowledge  about bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large and still don't have the money to buy, I just feel its a waste of effort and such a person  with all his knowledge  will definitely miss out of the opportunities in bitcoin and I'm  on the opinion  that people still need to always have some form of money at all time to buy bitcoin especially  at every instance a dip arises and I want to know the essence of wanting to crowd ones brain Brain with so much about bitcoin  when such a person doesn't have any more to buy rather than seeking ways to buy?
Well you do need money to buy Bitcoin, but I don't think knowledge is wasted even if you lack money. I mean you can use those "knowledge" to earn money, right? How is that a waste then? Knowing about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies might present you with ways to earn Bitcoin, not just buy it. You could offer services or work online in exchange for Bitcoin. You might use your knowledge in bitcoin and make something new, maybe a new better currency that actually has some real use cases.
